[android-developers] When does an app's description have excessive details or excessive keywords?

2016-07-05 Thread cesarpim
I am having trouble measuring some of the guidelines in:
https://play.google.com/about/storelisting-promotional/metadata/

For example:
If i have an app about musical instruments that includes around 30
instruments and i list them on my store listing's description, am i
violating the guidelines?
I am about to publish my first app so i am quite in the dark about this.
What does your experience tell you about my example?

I am confused because for example, i see some apps on google play, such as
the following two, that apparently are not suspended:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dmit.plmi

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.symbolic.pitchlab

[android-developers] Hiring for Excel Developer | Redmond, WA || 6+Months

2016-07-05 Thread USIT Recruiter
Hi

Please lookup the below position and if you feel comfortable ,then please
send me your updated resume

Position: Excel Developer

Location: Redmond, WA

Duration : 6+Months

Customer : HCL America

Job Description:

Candidate needs to have deep specialty in VBA and Excel programming. He/she
needs to know how to build a new custom Office Ribbon bar for Excel and be
able to program Excel to allow this new Office Ribbon to perform advanced
text-based operations on rows of text in the Excel worksheet that contain
custom information. She/he needs to have deep knowledge of Excel
programming and customization.

We need a very senior Excel developer who can work independently with
minimal supervision. The project is to build a custom editor of ISO comments.
ISO (International Standards Org) uses a custom format table to received
feedback from the participating members about a given standard in
development. The editor of the standard then needs to compile and tabulate
these comments and start performing decisions on what to do about each
comment. He/she may need to accept/reject them, group them into similar
ones, and provide contingency decisions about them. So if he/she accepts
one group of comments, another group need to be flagged to be rejected,
since they are in conflict with the first group of comments.

By building a custom Excel Ribbon and a potentially Excel task panes and
custom command bars, we want to allow the user of Excel to operate on the
worksheet that is the table defined in attached Word document. Each column
in the table as a specific meaning in the “ISO format”.

We need to find an expert in Excel programing, using VBA and Visual Studio
to develop this tool on top of Excel. We need a proven and independent
programmer(s) who can deliver with minimal supervision.

Depending on the solution on top of Excel, the developer may also need to
use other .NET languages, i.e. C#.

 Thanks & Regards!

[android-developers] WindowManager laggy when updating multiple views

2016-07-05 Thread Rodrigo Pontes
I am trying to move multiple ImageViews attached to the WindowManager but
after adding three views, the movement becomes very choppy.

After some investigation I think this is caused by calling updateViewLayout
too many times and on different views.

The code below is a simplified version of what I am trying to do and
illustrates the problem.

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

   WindowManager windowManager;
   ArrayList imageViews = new ArrayList<>();

   @Override
   protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
  super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
  setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
  windowManager =
(WindowManager)this.getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE);
  addImageView();
  addImageView();
  addImageView();
  addImageView();
  addImageView();
   }

   private void addImageView() {
  final WindowManager.LayoutParams params = new WindowManager.LayoutParams(
WindowManager.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,
WindowManager.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,
WindowManager.LayoutParams.TYPE_PHONE,
WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_NOT_FOCUSABLE,
PixelFormat.TRANSLUCENT);
  params.gravity = Gravity.TOP | Gravity.START;
  ImageView imageView = new ImageView(this);
  imageView.setImageResource(R.mipmap.ic_launcher);
  imageView.setOnTouchListener(new ImageViewTouchListener());
  imageViews.add(imageView);
  windowManager.addView(imageView, params);
   }

   private class ImageViewTouchListener implements View.OnTouchListener {

  @Override
  public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
 switch(event.getAction()) {
case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE:
   for(ImageView imageView : imageViews) {
  WindowManager.LayoutParams params =
(WindowManager.LayoutParams)imageView.getLayoutParams();
  params.x = (int)event.getRawX();
  params.y = (int)event.getRawY();
  windowManager.updateViewLayout(imageView, params);
   }
   return true;
 }
 return false;
  }
   }
}

As you can see, I am adding three ImageViews in onCreate, and each
ImageView has a TouchListener that updates the layout of every bubble in
ACTION_MOVE.

When adding one or two ImageViews, the movement is fluid, but three or more
and it lags badly.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you very much!

[android-developers] Re: Test Purchases missing 'order id' response in-app-billing

2016-07-05 Thread Nick Richards
Google announced in an email to some developers they're dropping orderId
for all test (license test) purchases.

Sounds like you and I had the same experience: I never received the email
in spite of being a developer on the Play Store for four years.

Here's a copy of the email: http://theeye.pe.kr/archives/2716 (discussion

[android-developers] Unable to unlock my phone after using Android Device Manager

2016-07-05 Thread Lukas Merkies
I have locked my phone using Android Device Manager and are not able to unlock
it. When I try to set a new password using ADM it doesn't work and I get the
message that there is already a password active.But or it is too long for my
phone, or I forgot it, but I am unable to unlock it. I don't want to erase my
phone because of valuable content stored on it. I have a samsung phone but no
password pattern nor am I able to unlock it through my Samsung account. I
searched internet extensively for a solution, and it seems that this is a
malfunction of adm for which Google is not able to provide a solution nor any
answer for a multitude of people that suffered from the same issue. Is that so?

[android-developers] How to disable some ABIs for NDK project?

2016-07-05 Thread Vitaliy Avramenko
I need to compile x86, armeabi and armeabi-v7a versions of my so library
only. It doesn't support x64 still, and I don't have time & wish to add
this support.
So, I try to use following directive:

ndk {
abiFilters = ["armeabi-v7a", "armeabi", "x86"]

}

I use gradle-experimental. And I receive following error message:

Error:(30, 1) A problem occurred configuring project ':app'.
> Exception thrown while executing model rule: android { ... } @
> app\build.gradle line 25, column 5
   > Cannot set readonly property: abiFilters for class:
com.android.build.gradle.managed.NdkConfig$Impl

So, how to enable just some specific ABIs in Android project that uses
gradle-experimental and NDK?

[android-developers] Handling custom URL in Android

2016-07-05 Thread Dennis Angelo
Hi,

I've followed handling custom url scheme in android and all is good and
works well if the app is running in the foreground. However, when app is
not running or app is in the background, starting th app using a custom url
scheme starts the app but the action is a android.intent.action.MAIN and
not android.intent.action.VIEW which is what I have to handle the custom
url scheme.

I tried getting the intent from the onStart() and still no luck. My
activity is launched using android:launchMode="singleInstance"

[android-developers] Am I missing a qualifier?

2016-07-05 Thread Bob B.
Hello all,

I am continue to build my knowledge around Android design and could use
some clarification.

I am trying to understand how you can get two different sized devices which
have the same dpi use two different image assets.

I have built an application which has a significant number of res folders
which use one or more resource qualifiers.

For example, I have the following.

drawable-sw320dp-mdpi
drawable-sw320dp-xxhdpi
drawable-sw800dp-mdpi

layout-sw720dp-mdpi
layout-sw720dp-xxxhdpi
layout-sw800dp-mdpi

I've had to do this in order to keep images in my application proportional
from one screen size / density to the next.

Here is where things are getting a bit rough.

Take a phone that is listed at 768x1280, mdpi, 160dp.

If I am understanding things correctly, this means the following.

It is an mdpi device so 1px = 1dp
The size of the device in dp is 768x1280
This device will use my layout in the layout-sw800dp-mdpi folder
It should use the image asset that is in my drawable-sw800dp-mdpi folder

Am I correct up to this point?

Now, let's say I have a tablet, that is 2048 x 1536 (Galaxy Tab S2) and is
mdpi.

Does this mean that it will use the same layout and drawable resources as
the previously mentioned phone?

Does this also mean that the resource in my drawable folder should be as
follows?

dpi = 48
size (what fits my needs)

Given this information is correct, I would expect that the single image of
sizeX and dpi of 48 would look proportional on both devices, which
unfortunately I am not always finding to be correct.

If someone could tell me if I'm in the ball park or WAY off base on my
understanding up to this point, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!
Bob
