I think you are on the right track with the AR_SESS_OVERRIDE_PREV_IP, but I do
not know why it does not work.

Do you get the same error message number after setting the session parameter?

During which API-call do you get the error?

 Hi Experts,

 I am frequently getting the error ARERR [9084] User is currently connected
 from another machine for some users who are already connected from another
 machine.

 I tried below settings in my API code to override this but it is not working

 server.Login(servername, UName, Passwd)
 server.SetSessionConfiguration(Constants.AR_SESS_OVERRIDE_PREV_IP, 1)

 Please help me to fix this problem.

Very helpful Doug.

We are in the very first steps os a Single Sign On project. I summarize the
steps:

1.The user pass through a web site where the user is validated, this
web site get the user login and generate a token for the session.
2.The user pass then to the Midtier, and here will be a piece that get
the login, session token and other parameters from the session. This step
is transparent for the user.
3.The login and the token are sent (via UserCredential object) to
arsystem where we’ll have the SSO plugin.
4.The SSO plugin takes the login and the token and validate both.
5.If the user not exists or the token is not validated the plugin SSO
return an “KO” and the login page is showed.

I guess, the way for send the token is through the authString parameter
of the UserCredential object, does it?

Is it the correct way to do this??

 What you are attempting is actually the most common use of AREA – using

 authentication but having the Authorization from the User form.



 All of the extra fields – groups, notification methods, email address – of
 the AREA return are optional.  If they

 are not supplied, the system should take the yes/no about authentication
 to tell if the user is valid and then

 look up the other data from the User form.

 It talks about the return structure of the AREA call and the fact that if
 values returned are NULL, it will cross

 reference the user form for the information.  You can supply some values
 and not others or no values for

 anything and have everything other than authentication be from the user
 form.



 Note that you need to have the cross reference blank password setting
 configured to cause AREA to look at

 the user form after authentication.

Here my customer is looking for Integrating IM module with IVR using avaya.
here is the thing we are looking for:

1) Customer calls help desk and he would hear the message like please enter
your ID followed by # sign.

2) as soon as it is done ,system would show pop up window which will
contain customer ID as well as other details like language and location
related to customer.ideally system whould extract it based on ID.

3) then Agent would insert text related to an issue and he would press save
button present on pop up window.

4) then Incident should get created.


As per my understanding in this case every agent should have Avaya agent
installed on his/her machine. Please correct me if i am wrong.

I need help to understand what are the task which needs to be done from
Remedy side and from avaya side.

 I made intergation between RMEDY-6 and IVR using C-API then JAVA-API from IVR 
and interfacing with webservioce at REMEDY, hence there a list of questions



1- What REMEDY version you are workin with

2- Does AVYA allow API calls, ANSI-C or java to read he translation and make 
the necessary workflow

2- Does AVAY support web-service integration (i.e. web-based application, run 
under web-server, )

Hi,

This means that it is meaningless to set the session parameter after the Login.

Try doing it before the login.

In the C-API you do not actually do any login, you just initialize the API. It
does not connect to the server when you do an ARInitialization.

The second step in the C-API would be to optionally call the ARSetServerPort
parameter.

I know that the Java API has kind of combined the above steps.

Why the Login-call should contact the server, and give you the error, I do not
know.

The best way might be to turn on API-logging and see which calls are sent by
your program.

If the subject didn't give it away, there is no useful content beyond an
informative video within this short advert.

Version 4 of the JSS SSO Plugin contains functionality to support
multiple SSO integrations (of any kind) with a single SSO Plugin
instance. There is no requirement for additional hardware, licenses and
expensive consulting effort often associated with complicated
integrations (ie AtriumSSO!).

Tell your management that the you were talking to the sales guy and he also 
told you he had a goose who would poop golden eggs. Should you go ahead and cut 
a Purchase Order for the Goose? It must be for real.

This reminds me of a sales guy telling my boss, in front of me, that he was 
sorry but he was obliged to tell him that he was offering Remedy Administrator 
services. He turned to me and said, no hard feeling, it's part of his job and 
he had to do it. That same guy always has to make a pitch for converting us to 
Service Now as well. If I ever meet this sales guy and his wife at a party that 
I am going to make an indecent proposal to his wife, but then tell him that I 
was obliged to do so because it's my job as a man.

Those guys are over agressive, I mean, we can make stuff sound better than real

the project later, total waste and utter failure.

My company has also recently taken a look at Service Now.  I can also confirm 
hearing some deliberately false information being provided, but that's likely 
typical for any sales presentation.  That being said, I do have a cautiously 
positive view of their product.  The techie part of my personality would like 
to make the switch just to learn something completely new and exciting, but in 
terms of doing what's best for my organization I don't think it's fully matured 
enough yet to replace Remedy, plus not all companies are willing to have their 
private data out on the cloud yet.  I've also come to the opinion that us 
Remedy folks are maybe more opposed to some of the people involved with 
ServiceNow and their marketing techniques than the anything else.  Either way, 
I plan to keep my eye on them and if my management told me tomorrow that they 
signed me up for classes and that we'd be migrating to that product, I would 
treat it as an opportunity not treat it as the end of the world.

That is I was looking at SNOW in terms of knowing what's good and what is bad. 
No product is the best at everything.
I am certainly more open minded about the products than most folks I met at the 
SNOW conference were.

To them [SNOW conference attendees, the ServiceNow employees and others] BMC 
Remedy is the enemy and it can do no right. There were many expressing 
blatantly false views, I kept my opinions mostly to myself.

Well, I did have to correct former BMC employees who were saying Fred Luddy had 
something to do with creating Remedy. A view I heard enough times to consider 
it to be deliberate.

Yes, the marketing is a direct steal from what Remedy Corp. said in the 1990s, 
and there is a tiny bit of truth to some of what they say. Mostly though, if 
the developer studio were sped up to the speed of the old Admin tool, It could 
easily be shown you can create robust custom apps faster and easier with Remedy 
than with ServiceNow. Real apps that is, with a real data model. They however, 
can show creating new fields and apps in minutes due to the simplicity of the 
system, the data model, what gets displayed and the simplistic development tool 
that does not show that all real development is done by working on java scripts.

That being said, if you want quick and simple display of quick and simple data 
in a quick and simple data model, it arguably can. Then again, so can dozens of 
other light weight applications. RemedyForce would certainly seem the better 
direction for those that want a truly cloud built light weight system.

Note: These opinions are mine. No one elses, not my employer, and possibly not 
mine next week if I get evidence that I am mistaken about any of the above.

Hi,
Your issue is not with the call but as to why the override is being triggered 
so many times by your API program.
As per the examples that have been previously supplied and are available on BMC 
Communities, your API program should have a central Function/routine for 
login/logout.  
This function should be available throughout all the modules in your program 
and called only once to initiate the connection.  The user should be cleanly 
logged out before exiting your program.

If you are receiving frequent overrides then you need to re-evalute your 
program structure to correct the behaivour.

I think you would do well to do some more thinking on this idea before you do 
that.  Do you know anything at all about this guy's wife?  After all, the fact 
that the husband may be a bit of a jerk doesn't necessarily mean that she is as 
well.  I know some very sweet-tempered women who let their hearts lead when 
they picked their mate, and it wasn't a terribly good choice, and they are just 
trying to do the best they can with the choice they made.  On the other hand, 
the wife might be a real nightmare with a terrible temper from having to live 
with her pushy and obnoxious bozo of a husband and she might slap you across 
the face as hard as she can or throw her drink in your face for your 
cheekiness!  ;)

I know I am at a stage where I have been forced to endure entirely too much 
distasteful behavior from men and I'm a lot less tolerant than I used to be of 
what I consider to be men behaving badly, although I recognize that sometimes 
you have to leave males to work things out in their own way.  If it were my 
first time meeting you and you did this to me, I most likely wouldn't say 
anything, but I would be feeling really uncomfortable, and assuming that I 
didn't know my husband to be prone to murdering those he didn't like, I would 
probably get up and go into the other room.  You would have made a very poor 
first impression on me, and while it would not be impossible to turn things 
around, you would have to work a lot harder than most new acquaintances to 
overcome that initial bad impression, even if you found a way to slip me an 
explanation for your behavior.  While I can understand wanting to make a point, 
particularly to someone who has made themselves obnoxious, I definitely would 
NOT appreciate being used for such a purpose and in such a threatening way by a 
stranger.  The only sort of person I *might* put up with something like that 
from would be someone who was a life-long friend of my husband - someone who 
might not agree with everything he said or did and wasn't above the occasional 
object lesson to make a point, but who at least had a demonstrated track record 
for caring about the guy, warts and all.  Also, this guy would be familiar 
enough to me from his long acquaintance with my husband that I would hopefully 
recognize that Oh, he's just in 'object lesson mode' and I would know not to 
take such potentially explosive words too seriously.  With a stranger, I'd have 
no context for understanding what is motivating the words being said, so I'd 
have to assume that there is a genuine threat.  Then the question becomes, as 
the wife of this man you don't like, who am I?  If I am just a stay-at-home 
mom, you might be tempted to think, 'What a woman like that thinks doesn't 
matter', but what if there's some crazy connection between us that you aren't 
aware of?  Maybe our kids go the same school and are both in the same school 
band, and I'm a band mom.  If I figure out that your kid is the kid of that guy 
I met at that party who talked so offensively to me, then you are put into a 
position of having to trust me not to either inconvenience or even downright 
harm your kid because I didn't like how you chose to conduct yourself around 
me.  Do you know me well enough to be confident trusting my sense of honor and 
decency that even though I thought *you* behaved like a complete jerk, I'm 
willing to give *your kid* a completely clean slate?  Or what if I'm a board 
member for a company you really want to do some work for?  You've now shown the 
depths that you'll sink to in order to make your point, and if you come looking 
to do business with my company, do you honestly think you're going to get my 
vote after having propositioned me so indecently?

Sometimes these ideas can seem really fun, and they are certainly quite 
interesting to consider, but I also think that they can have some brutal 
unintended consequences.  And I advise thinking long and hard about those 
potential unintended consequences before you let yourself go there.

I'll close with a quote that has made me pause and reflect on many occasions:  
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth 
and remove all doubt.  The source of this quote is not known for certain, but 
it is attributed, variously, to Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, the Book of 
Proverbs in the Bible, Maurice Switzer, Arthur Burns, John Maynard Keynes, 
Confucius, and Anonymous.  Regardless of who said it, it remains good advice in 
my books.

 I have created WSDLs that I can successfully submit to UPS and get valid

 There is s 2 step process Shipconfirm and ShipAccept (submit data  get rate

 We had to use a WSDL:merge utility to combine the base WSDL and associated

 My issue is that all this works when testing with SOAP UI.
 When I load the WSDL in Remedy web service, I can map my input fields to the 
 appropriate elements and submit, but Remedy does not load the WSDL with the 
 proper namespaces within the WSDL, the header section is displayed but there 
 is no body tag and UPS rejects the submission with 'error client data' or 
 'xml not well formed'
 
 It seems Remedy does not interperet the WSDL file the same way most of the 
 xml/soap tools do.
 If anyone has any experience/success merging or flattening WSDL and multiple 
 XSD file any advice would be appreciated.

Hello, friends,
I work with BMC Remedy 7.6.04 (ITSM) and I want to change the standart workflow 
of working Email Enging. Can I create a new Incident on any email without 
analyzing body? In this case, the body of the letter is Detailed Description of 
the incident and submitter is owner of the email from CTM:People. Where and How 
can I do this?

Hi Andrey,

Yes it is very much possible to create incident via email. For this you need to 
write a workflow on AR System Email Messages form. Create a staging form and 
push the data from AR System Email Messages form to this staging form.
Once data reaches to staging form validate the User via CTM:People form and 
then push the data to HPD:IncidentInterface_Create. There is OOB workflow which 
will push data from HPD:IncidentInterface_Create to HPD:Help Desk form.
The flow of incident creation would be like this-

AR System Email Messages--Staging form--User validation via CTM:People 
form-- HPD:IncidentInterface_Create--HPD:Help Desk

Hi,

\$NULL\$ worked out and got results. On the otherhand, captured arapires and 
cmd logs after executing the runmacro with recorded macro files.  I need 
assistance on troubleshooting these logs, since I didn’t see any Error messages 
in these logs. Unfortunately, no links found in communities as of now.

In cmd_1, after validate form cache, the below entry was logged and 
Segmentation fault error displayed in putty.

problem.

Try ...\$NULL\$... instead.

Then you can set environment ARAPILOGGING=1 and check the resulting arapicmd* 
and arapires* files to see how far the tool gets when you try to run the Macro

 I was trying to execute the below command in Putty.

 ./runmacro -d path of macrofile -x servername -U username -P 
 password -e reportsavedname

 It gives the below statement and exist. As a prequisite, I have 
 updated the path of macrofile and runmacro binary in LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
 Also added
 LoadSchemaFromCache: F in conf. But no result.
