Re: Web Services installation 1805
Hello Ben, Is this a Server Group environment? See documentation link https://docs.bmc.com/docs/brid/1805/installing-bmc-atrium-core-web-services-components-813429826.html - You cannot install BMC Atrium Web services directly in a server group. BMC recommends to install BMC Atrium Web Services on a separate machine and then configure it for the server group. Re: Smart Reporting
Julie the formatting capabilities are available within Smart Reporting to populate values from Remedy Data. However, what is currently not available or supported is to execute a search in Remedy/ITSM and have search parameters passed to Smart Reporting as Crystal Reports did when using Macros or Active Links that opened certain reports. As long as Reports are created in Smart Reporting with interactive parameters, end users can provide information to filter report and provide search criteria which can then format report with data from Remedy. Re: Remedy 9.0 SQL requirements
Ryan, take a look at the following link. I believe this will provide information your looking for to make a decision. Remedy 9.0 benchmark report has some data where we compared physical SQL server to a VM. Essentially we saw similar performance and therefore using a VM for a small or medium type of environment as a database server should be okay. For production environment we recommend not to over-subscribe resources and map (1-1 mapping) one VCPU to one physical core. https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/brid90/Mixed+workload+with+Microsoft+SQL+server+deployed+to+a+Virtual+Machine On Tue, Oct 20, 2015 at 10:07 AM, Ryan Nicosiawrote: > I've looked through the 9.0 upgrade documentation and outside of some > basic sizing guidelines I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. > > I've also downloaded the worksheet that BMC put together for planning your > resource requirements for 9.0 install based on users, ticket throughput, > etc. > > What I am after are recommendations on a virtualized Microsoft SQL cluster > and what we should provide to our SQL team on how SQL should be provisioned > to support Remedy. Re: Upgrade advice
Hello Victoria, There are several factors here that are unknown at the moment. For example, if your customizations are tied to certain integrations or are they just stand alone customizations within your environment. Or are some of your customization tied to any of the OOTB ITSM apps? Without getting into all the details what is your ARS platform version? 8.1.02? If you created all you custom objects using Dev stuidio "Best Practice" then all you customizations will be available after upgrade to 9.0. That being said, it is highly recommended that you run the Pre-Checker utility before each component and address any issues that it discovers..ESPECIALLY fields ids created in reserve range. However, the reason all the properties are gray and you can not modifiy them is because although the form is overlaid the view may have not been overlaid and this also can be causing your difference in behavior between User and Mid-tier. NOTE: Remember in 7.6.4 there are several layers of overlays, First you MUST overlay the form, then the view, then each object that needs to be edited must also be overlaid. I believe in 8.1 dev studio handles overlays a lot better by creating the view and field overlays when you choose to overlay a form. I have seen people describe scenarios where they make the change on the primary in a server group, and then later find that one of the secondary servers didn't 're-cache', and mid-Tier was getting the cache from THAT server, so it wasn't all sync'dso, if you have multiple servers, ensure that they all have the latest definitions, then flush your Mid-Tier cache on all nodes, then flush your local browser cache. It's within SRM but I feel the qualification is AR related so any help would be appreciated. I have a service that has to do with access. Of course, the requirement is that the submitter should not be able to pick themselves as someone who needs to get access. There are search menus that allow the submitter to narrow down to the person who needs access. The last menu is called Full Name and it does a lookup on the People form. Without the requirement of the submitter being unable to pick themselves, the menu works fine. However, when I add the following to the qualification: AND 'Remedy Login ID' != $\USER$ my requirement is met but with side effects. The submitter cannot see their name in the drop down but the side effect is that any user who has a $NULL$ value in the Remedy Login ID field doesn't show up either. How is it that the above string also includes null values? It is a Relational Database query topic. NULL is a value. It means that there is no value. So, if you search for something in ANY relational database and specify a criteria, unless you explicitly test for NULL values, NULL values will not match. Yes, this seems weird that NULL will not match when you say does not equal a specific value. But, that is the nature of relational queries. no value does not match and does not NOT match ANYTHING. It can only be tested for NULL. ANY qualification where the value in the DB is NULL will return a FALSE for that portion of the qualification unless the qualification is specifically to test for NULL. Just something to keep in mind whenever you are querying a database. Now that you are excluding based on 'Remedy Login ID' you will have to explicitly include $NULL$ in the query.
