Simon: The only suggestion I'd have is to try resetting the access restriction for the user in your TEST environment, i.e. remove it, save the People record, then re-add it and resave the People record. I can't tell you the number of flaky little access-type problems I've solved doing that little dance with permissions and anything else that gives or removes access. Good luck! Hi, If you walk your table, and then perform a service-call to the details-records one at a time. Whatever happens inside that service-call (a push-fields to the details-record in this case), will be committed to the database before the service-call exits. This will then enable you to do a COLSUM(), or some such thing, on your details-records after your table-walk has been completed. The drawback is that the details-updates will be committed to the database even though a later update should fail with an error... Another drawback is that Doug Mueller has told me that if it works like that, it is a bug, and should be fixed. But I have seen no evidence of this being addressed in the 3 service packs released so far... Hi, Well, I don't think it's a bug, and I don't think they will fix it. I suggest that you try it, and then ask BMC if this is as designed. Development question
Hi listers, I have a question for developers. I've got a solution, but I want to know if there is a better option, since it doesn't satisfy me 100%. Here's the case (It's not really my case, but a simplified version of it): I have one form: AAA:Invoices. This form has a table field that shows related requests on AAA:DetailLines. So each invoice in AAA:Invoices is related to several Detail Lines in AAA:DetailLines. I have a field in AAA:Invoices that is a parameter used to compute the value of the detail lines. I call it: InvoiceParameter. I have a filter that when InvoiceParameter is changed, it propagates it to all related detail lines. When those lines are modified, they automatically (with filters) recalculate their value. I also have a total value field at AAA:Invoices that it is the sum of the detail lines. I want to keep it updated, so I thinked some options, but concurrency makes the result going wrong. Summarizing the case: The objective is that when modifying the field InvoiceParameter at an Invoice, it propagates to the detail lines, recalculating its value, and returns to the invoice with the total as the sum of all detail lines. If I do it with a filter, the contents of the table at AAA:Invoice is not updated until the end of the transaction. So I can't see the new values. And If I use parameter sending, only one of the detail lines, do actually change the value, the rest are lost, (beacuse concurrency). Using the override phase at PUSH actions, it overrides the ARS action, but not the SQL sending, that is sent at the end. My solution is to have a filter at AAA:Invoice that propagates the InvoiceParameter to the detail lines. Then the detail lines compute the result and make a PUSH to the Invoice marking a flag field (so no concurrency error is possible). Then an escalation executes at every minute on marked invoices, that computes the total. I hate using escalations for complex computations. Do you know any other way to achieve my objective without escalations? Jose M. Re: Development question
Hi, I think you should go with your original plan and set a third field when both A and B has been set. Alternatively use the SET-CHANGE-FLAG to 1 whenever both fields have values. I presume taht by saying A is changed you mean ('A' != $NULL$), as this is a display-only-field? No. Since it can be used in filters. Mmm. I will explain deeper and more abstract. Imagine the next case. If field A is changed - No change If field B is changed - No change If field A and B are changed - It changes. So if i set disable change to both, the third option won't work. Re: Development question
The problem is that I didn't explain it very well. I knew about this property. My question was about controlling the change flag by workflow. I know how to do it right now. Resolved. Jose M. Imagine we have a form, where there is some display only field used to start some active link workflow. But if the user only changed this field I don't want that ARS consider the request as modified and then prompts the user to abandon changes when he closes the form. For instance a regular form with related forms. The related requests are shown in a table field. And some display only fields allow selecting the filtering of the table field. If someone changes the data of those fields to filter the table field and then closes the form, ARS prompts that if he abandon the form he will loose the changes.
