Re: How to Re Install SLM - SOLVED

2009-02-03 Thread Rob Cvetkovski
For those of you looking to install SLM 7.0.03 with the new 7.5 - here
is how it can be done.
The install barks when you attempt to install as it claims the contract
mgmt application is a higher version dies.
In order to install, you have to go to the Share:Properties form and
change the versions on 4 values:

1. Contract Management 7.5.00.0 to 1.0.00
2. Remedy Administration Console from 7.5.00.0 to 1.0.00
3. Remedy Reporting Console from 7.5.00.0 to 1.0.00
4. Remedy Foundation Prime Elements from 7.5.00 to 1.0.00

Run the installer and it should work, then change the values back after
the install.

What operating system are you installing on?

There were numerous issues with installing SLM 7.03 on Solaris
especially if you were doing it as non-root. Here are just a few things
to check...

1.) Make sure the application is licensed. There was a bug with this
but unfortunately I don't remember the specifics

2.) Before you re-install go to /var/tmp and delete any/all logs (or
rename/move) from the previous install

If it still won't re-install contact BMC support. We had to roll back
to our pre-SLM database several times when we were trying to install.
Strangely we only ever had problems on 2 of our 4 environments - the
other two worked the first time. There was no known difference between
them.

Hi,

If you have other environment with SLM, try to export the form
SLM:Measurement and import it to the problem environment.

Restart the service and try again. Maybe you must recreate all service
target after that

This fixed the issue in our environment.

Regards
