Mid Tier: how to show Hour glass when Active Link working on a form

2009-01-07 Thread Ravi
Hi: I have a form with a few ALs. When a user types a value into a field
and hits the enter key, these active links run to get some additional
data and populate a few other fields. While the AL runs, I want the
mouse pointer on the web client to change to a hour glass to indicate
Remedy is doing something. Is this something that is configurable?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not sure 6.03 is supported anymore. So you will probably have to
upgrade. I would advise you to upgrade your clients to whatever AR Server
version you are using too.

You can get the software from the BMC support patches section. There, you
can find a directory called Installers this is the installation bundled
with the latest patches etc.

Kind regards

Not only that, but the market had crashed too, and even worse,
peregrine acquired Remedy, which initially questioned peregrine's
commitment to ARS. That in itself put many implementation projects on
hold back then.

As I recall, 1300 people attended the rug after the dot com

There is also another side to this as well.

How many companies in the current financial climate can or are
willing
to send some or all of their Remedy teams to such a conference?
If I
was a manager trying to keep costs down, I might have a
difficult time
justifying plane tickets, hotel fees, car rental, and other
travel
expenses for such a conference. BMC could have some very
justified
fears that attendance would be too low to be worth the effort,
and that
a number of third-party vendors may also keep their staff away
in
efforts to save costs.

6.03 is still supported - but not for much longer.

I would download the software you need ASAP. You should be able to get

Nope, sorry. While, as a consultant, I have done a lot of work for
different companies, UNT is not one of them. (Starbucks, 24 hour fitness,
Verizon, Verizon again, Motorola, DC Public Schools, many others)
The only work I did at UNT, was back when it was NTSU and all of my work
consisted of various disorderly and drunken activities, with a heavy portion
of debauchery.

Actually I think UNT was Christopher Strauss and can't remember, I think

Re: Mid Tier: how to show Hour glass when Active Link working on a form

2009-01-07 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
It is possible to do using some javascript. Do a Google search for
javascript mouse pointer and you should be able to find the javascript
to do the change. In your Active Links you will have to add (when the
client type is web) a Run Process action to execute the javascript to
change the cursor (and change it back when finished).

No it's not configurable, but in the 7.1 Mid-Tier there is a 'busy' icon
used for loading of forms.

Re: Mid Tier: how to show Hour glass when Active Link working on a form

2009-01-07 Thread Shoemaker, Gary

I have tried this in past and I can get the hourglass to appear. I have some
set fields that also need to happen from the active links. What happens is
that the set fields are set and then the run process fires which gives the hour
glass after the set fields are done which take some time due to the lookups. I
have tried to have 2 active links with the first active link to only have the
JavaScript, but the set fields fire first.

Is there a way to force the run process to fire first like you would with a
filter using `!

It is possible to do using some javascript. Do a Google search for javascript
mouse pointer and you should be able to find the javascript to do the change.
In your Active Links you will have to add (when the client type is web) a Run
Process action to execute the javascript to change the cursor (and change it
back when finished).

No it's not configurable, but in the 7.1 Mid-Tier there is a 'busy' icon used
for loading of forms.

Hi: I have a form with a few ALs. When a user types a value into a field and

populate a few other fields. While the AL runs, I want the mouse pointer on the
web client to change to a hour glass to indicate Remedy is doing something. Is
this something that is configurable?

2009-01-07 Thread Marc Simmons
Instead of using a 'run process', use a 'Set Field' action into a field
using $PROCESS$. This will force the Active Link to have to wait for the
$PROCESS$ to return a value from the process that this action is trying to
execute.

The only work I did at UNT, was back when it was NTSU and all of my work

Actually I think UNT was Christopher Strauss and can't remember, I think he

Re: Active Link works on dev; not on prod

2009-01-07 Thread Opela, Gary L CTR USAF AFMC 72 CS/SCBAH
Okay, you led me to the answer.

On dev, the default for the field used in the EXTERNAL() call for the
table qualification would result in 1 ticket, and it was by default
highlighted. So, whenever I changed the menu, which would in turn change
the value in the field referenced in the EXTERNAL() call, it would
update the table, and would keep that same ticket highlighted. That
ticket happened to always be the last ticket in the table, so I was
getting the number of rows, essentially.

Now, on production, there were no records returned by the default
EXTERNAL() value. So, whenever I changed the field that the EXTERNAL()
referenced, and the table refreshed, no records were highlighted, and
that gave me a value of 0 for the table field.

I will do some table looping or something to get a count. I wish I could
use a ROWCOUNT('Table Field') function or something.

The solution; use the $LASTCOUNT$ keyword. Since I'm running it

Gary,

You can get a count by running a direct SQL against the view of the form that
table field is built on using the same condition as in the table field.. Select

Okay, you led me to the answer.

On dev, the default for the field used in the EXTERNAL() call for the table
qualification would result in 1 ticket, and it was by default highlighted. So,
whenever I changed the menu, which would in turn change the value in the field
referenced in the EXTERNAL() call, it would update the table, and would keep
that same ticket highlighted. That ticket happened to always be the last ticket
in the table, so I was getting the number of rows, essentially.

Now, on production, there were no records returned by the default EXTERNAL()
value. So, whenever I changed the field that the EXTERNAL() referenced, and the
table refreshed, no records were highlighted, and that gave me a value of 0 for
the table field.

I will do some table looping or something to get a count. I wish I could use a
ROWCOUNT('Table Field') function or something.

Yeah, but the condition will change based on what the user chooses from
a menu. I'm using EXTERNAL() in the table qual, and don't want to deal
with maintaining all of the direct SQL version of the remedy searches
from which the user could potentially pull.

I used $LASTCOUNT$.

If that would't have worked, I would have had to have used an active
link to call an active link guide to call an active link that would
increment a counter. Add in table looping, and it should work too.

Thanks,

Hey, that looks like it might just work. I don't know why they don't
call it ROWCOUNT.

From the 6.3 documentation:

COLCOUNT
(column) or (table)
int

For a table or results list field, returns the total
number of rows.
For a column field, returns the total number of
non-NULL rows in a given column.

Re: Active Link works on dev; not on prod

Does LASTCOUNT and COLCOUNT($ID$) work correctly when table chunking is enabled?

I don't remember so just thinking out loud here before you think its the
solution..

Hey, that looks like it might just work. I don't know why they don't call it
ROWCOUNT.

From the 6.3 documentation:

COLCOUNT
(column) or (table)
int

For a table or results list field, returns the total number of rows.
For a column field, returns the total number of non-NULL rows in a given column.

Hi Gary,

You can always do  'Ticket Count' = COLCOUNT($tbl_Tickets$).  I would suggest
using this - I do not like to rely on LASTCOUNT.

The solution; use the $LASTCOUNT$ keyword. Since I'm running it immediately
after refreshing the table, it should always pull the correct count.

**

I thought setting an Integer field equal to a table puts the row number of the
currently selected row into the Integer field

AR Server 6.3/ WUT 6.3/ Windows 2k3/ MSSQLServer

So, I just developed a form and some active links on dev, then imported them
into prod, and one of the ALs doesn't work.

So, the active link does a set fields. It sets 'Ticket Count' = $tbl_Tickets$

On dev, this will set the Ticket Count integer field to the number of records
in the tbl_Tickets table.

This works fine in dev, but not in prod. Below are the logs from each table
refresh:

Message on Approval Console

2009-01-07 Thread Sucharita SINGHAL
Hello All,

We are facing a problem while approving a request from
'CHG:ChangeJoinAPDetailSignature' from web console..

When an approver updates the status of request to 'approved' and then saves it,
he gets a message saying 'The record has been updated by another user since you
retrieved it.Do you want to overwrite the changes made by another user.'

While if the same is done through native console, no such message comes and the
record is saved.

Can anyone suggest the reason for the same and also the solution to avoid this
message?

Thanks and regards
Sucharita
