Imagine you have someone locked in a room with many draws labeled with chinese characters, each containing some peaces of paper written in chinese. You post a paper into the room with chinese characters on it, and the person inside the room matches those characters to one of the draws, takes a peace of paper out of that draw and posts it back to you. In this way you could theoretically have an intelligent conversation in Chinese. You post a paper saying hello into the room, and the person matches it with the right draw and posts a paper back saying Hello, how are you? The problem however is that the person in the room is just pattern matching. They themselves have no knolidge of the Chinese language, no ide
 a what the papers they send out of the room actually refer to, they just match and send a response. this is my issue with Ai, sinse while I am quite convinced when I search for a file my computer is able to find it quite coherently by putting together sets of positively and negatively charged logic gates on its circuit boards that adhere to my request, I am not convinced that my computer has any extra sensation or consciousness involved with that system. So, even if (and it is a pretty gigantic if), a system were developed that was able to assimilate different sorts of information outside its initially prescribed intake Im not sure if that system would be actually sentient, especially considering that in biological terms were not even sure on the sentience of other none animal species, and even our knolidge of the sentience of animals is generally ganed by assumption and empathy rather than something impyrical. Note that this idea has not

As to virtual reality, I am not sure whether or not we will have accurate enough knolidge of the brain to actually interface brains and computers for the reasons just mentioned. We may well get to the point that computers can monitor certain nurvous activity and that a person can think control a device, although odds are you probably wont be able to just think and have it happen like magic, you

But actual virtual reality of a real environment projected into the brain that someone can manipulate? Im not sure. Look at the screen when you die... if youve been saving regularly which is what I recommended in my playthrough, you should be able to start relatively close to the boss. Just look at the menus and dialog as they come up and make good use of the instant translate addon!

Mine was on for more than 30 seconds before I realised the fan was a problem, turns out the blades were stuck on the fans power wire. Unfortunately since then Ive found my processor temperature going up to the 70 degrees region just with light web browsing for an hour or so. Im probably going to replace the CPU cooler but Im concerned if it might be something wrong with the processor since its overheating previously making its temperature rise, Im loathed to spend the money on a new cooler if it wont help but I dont see any other way to find out.

Hi Aprone! Maybe at least you dont check your Email. first of all glad for swamp 3.5! I have to tell you a few problem. So far, I login in swamp serveral times. the map, zombies and loot load too slow and there are a lot the loot named the messy code, even they spawn on the SZ. I often see the items stuck at the edge of map, I cant pick them up.My friends and I lost a few items. or there are several million item in our inventory. certainly these are not important!Maybe these are difficult but I still look forward to your perfect fix.thanks for your work!

Well, actually, Ive got family support and scholarships. But I get it. Still, this is the kind of thing you might be able to convince your parents to help with it, at least when you get to that point. I obviously dont know your situation; maybe about $60/year is cumbersome for them. I can promise, however, that not many 15-year-olds ask their parents for a bit of money to run an online multiplayer game they wrote from scratch for the blind as a hobby, and I also cant think of many better things for 15-year-olds to ask for help paying for.Obviously youre far away from that point, but even so. I never actually see people saying point out to your parents that its educational, builds a future career path, and is a service to the community, so I have.

Hmm, thats a great idea. Ill actually look into that. As you said, not now... but definitely in the future. Im sure that, a ways down the road, that if I told my parents that I had something like this and perhaps showed it to them, they might consider. As it stands I used to pay $4.99/mo for a file hosting service... but yeah. Id still definitely request donations, though, as Im also paying $26/year for my website and $24/year for swamp. Unfortunately, if I got a server, the latter might have to be discontinued. But Ill be 16 soon. Maybe I can try to get some sort of job before I invest in a server and such and try to ballence those costs out.

@Dan, I think writing reflective essays is part of Theology, Im not sure but I do remember a friend of mine doing similar, still good to hear part of your course involves visiting a synagogue. I cant speak for Iron druid sinse though I have some of the books Ive not started them yet, but Dark tower is awsome, albeit the first volume isnt the easiest thing to get into being as its rather slow and a tad aimless. king wrote it when he didnt really have much idea of the world or what he was planning ultimately and unfortunately in the first volume at least it rather shows, things pick up far more in volumes 2 and 3. Still, if your patient you should enjoy it, I particularly remember liking the bleaque landscape and over all feeling of a vast and very weerd world even though i didnt often know much of what was going on when i first started on The Dark tower when I was 13 or so,  actually I didnt read volume two for anothe
 r two or three years, much less anymore, and I only finished the thing a few years ago. As regards the Culture books by Ian Banks, well if you want some difficult and intreaguing scifi theyre definitely worth trying, albeit upon rereading the first, Consider Phlebas is a little hard going in places and has a hugely grim ending as wel as a difficult protagonist to get on with despite being a real action fest. The second, player of games was awsome, I read that quite recently. The Rnib have the books in audio, actually I was quite amazed they were able to follow through on a scifi series (definitely out of character), but I dont know how easy they would be to access outside the Uk. Personally Ive just started on Patrick rothfus kingkiller. Ive not got far enough to really say what is going on or even who the main character is (Im literally on chapter two), however Im loving the writing style and atmosphere.

Just throwing this out there, but if your game doesnt take too much bandwidth then a server that sits in the middle of everyone can be done in about 500 lines and run on a VPS that costs $5/month. And depending on how you code it, it may be reusable for basically everything without modification. The only complicated bit is trying to get a direct connection first, because if you can do that, there will be a nice bit of lag decreasing in it.The long and the short of it is, when you go into the realm of multiplayer, such a server is basically the least complicated part of the project anyway. The fun part is that getting a message from player a to player b and back to player a will take something like a third of a second minimum.

Hello there folks!Ive been meaning to contribute here for a while, just never got round to it. I have rather enjoyed hearing what others have been up to; its great seeing all the diversity on here.As for me, Im just spent the past month working my way steadily through university, currently writing a reflection on a visit I undertook to an orthodox Jewish synagogue. The strangest part about this is that were encouraged to put I! in the essay, which is something Im really not used to doing these days. Other than uni work, Ive gotten into abridged series, particular DBZ and Helsing Ultimate by team four star. Hmm yeah. but there are things I have to consider when doing this: How many people would, actually, be on the server? I wouldnt want to buy a server only to find that it goes a week and theres only like 3 people on there that whole week.Also, if I did that, Id need to make the game shareware so that I could pay for server costs. I really dont even know if I will make this thing multiplayer, honestly. Its just a game Im making because I love racing games so much and want to create my own and customise it to my liking, so I dont really have any plans to invest money or whatever into it. That also means that I dont have plans to make it shareware either. This being said, I know that its quite likely less people will want to play my game now, but its OK. At any rate I plan to create unlockable tracks, cars, and obstacles and such for the track builder. I also have ideas on how to give opponents intelogence (when dealing
  with obstacles).But hey. If it turns out I dont implement multiplayer and that turns away 99% of my playerbase, its OK. Ill still make the game, and others should I choose to do so, because I love to code.

Glad you finished the game. While it is a little annoying that we wont see Chillingham 2, to be honest I really do think the game was poorly constructed. It didnt know whether to be genuine horror or just commedy, there was far too much repetitive bug hunting, and in the end how interesting actually is! the plot? What have we learnt at the end of the game that we didnt know at the beginning? That some girl called Lilly was in Chillingham helping the prof with his weerd bug research thing, and wrote down a map to a manner in the woods belonging to someone called Lord chillingham and went there.For all we know Lord Chillingham could be a restaurant owner running a teashop and Lilly couldve been pegging it away from his house because she cant pay the bill .For all the supposedly creepy atmosphere we dont get any idea that re
 ally much is wrong in chillingham beyond infestations of less than convincing bad guys, no weerd deaths, no disappearences, no evil curses or whatever. Compare this to something like the Inquisitor and youll see what I mean, look at all we know at the end of INquisitor chapter one and yet what questions are left to answer and compare to chillingham.While chillingham isnt terrible, now that we have far more examples of the audio adventure genre, I do think we can see the inequities in the plot and setting and how perhaps more time shouldve been spent on writing the game and deciding on a consistant tone and a decent story to go with it.

This problem also occurred to my computer. It was a desktop not a laptop. The only think I did was just pressing the power button which makes the computer restart, and as far as I can remember, after doing it two or three times, the problem was gone, but this doesnt mean that the problem might not occur again. What do you think checking the audio drivers?

fedai, there is a difference between exploiting bugs to cheat and outright manipulation of the game. while niether are good in their own rights, the latter isnt quite as severe. i wont speculate and point fingers for several reasons, but let it be said, like blackstripe said, we are not trying to exploit the duplication of items. we end up recycling them if they do duplicate and i just hope you all are doing the same.

Hello,Make sure youve put the pack into a separate folder within the packs folder, but back up your folder in another place first, so you dont lose it. for example:For the pack Im working on at the moment, Into The Woods, I have a folder called incomplete packs in the main beatstar route. I put the into the woods stuff in there, then when I was ready for debugging, I went into the packs folder, made a folder called into_the_woods with underlines, and put all the files in there. The game then entered debug mode and made me a pack. When I was done debugging, I removed the folder from the packs folder but I made sue to put everything into my backup folder too so I wouldnt lose the ogg files I had been working on. Remember to put thebpm file in the backup too otherwise youll ahave to make your beats again.

Every controller seems to handle the sticks/d-pad/etc, etc differently, so I have no idea how to predict whats going on.It is set up for the default key config, though. If youve changed your key config to, say, use the arrow keys instead of A/S/D/Right click, that would be the problem. (Its also fixable, either by resetting keyConfig, or by configuring the controller in Joy2Key).

Fan speed control help, anyone?

Hey there folks. Got a question for you. I have a custom-built Windows computer here which, I believe, has no active fan control on it. Thus, all the fans in it always run at maximum, which leads to a rather loud machine. I found an app called Speed Fan which allows you to control this, however most of the controls within are way beyond my comprehension, and the help file is no help, as it assumes you already know a lot of technical info before you use the software. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows of a program thats a little more beginner friendly? Alternatively, any help or past experience from anyone thats done something similar would be greatly appreciated!Best, Albano.

Hey guys, today is my first day with free time to look over the mountain of bug reports. Ive actually been reading through them since I rolled out of bed today, haha. To clarify to everyone/anyone who wonders why the testing team didnt catch these bugs, the reason is because they did not exist on the testing server. There is nothing they could have done to prevent this.So far this morning I have read several emails throwing a fit about the changes made to armor and I have read several emails throwing a fit about the new slowing effect from zombie swarms. This is an extremely tricky situation, and I have not yet decided what I will do about it. Oh and of course, most people who are throwing their fits continually remind me that they are paying customers and that theyll stop playing if I dont change things back to how they want them. So whatever I decide does carry some consequences that I need to be willing to live 
 with.First off, a lot of players are so hopelessly used to 95% protection that they say they cannot play without it. These players dont try to avoid dangerous situations. In the old days we didnt even have armor in Swamp, and people survived. Players would carefully move around the maps and plan things out so they always had an escape route if things got crazy. I dont know how to actually solve this problem, but players have completely changed to this lazier way of playing. The maximum protection for high armor is still 95%, medium is 91%, and low is 87%. Worst case scenario means players have 8% less protection than they previously had. A measly 8% is changing the game so much that people are throwing huge fits and saying the game is unplayable?! What in the world are these players doing when they play? All I keep thinking about is the days when people had no armor at all, and we had like 800 people regu
 larly playing Swamp back then. Sure didnt seem unplayable.Next is running speed. Like the armor protection, many players have gotten themselves used to running speed like it is some sort of crutch. These are people who simply cannot play the game unless they can outrun any zombie they encounter, and they also need to be able to just turn around and run through swarms of zombies without fighting anything! On a regular basis players were completing 180 death bringer missions without killing even 1 zombie! That is not at all how this game was meant to be played, and yet that is the reason behind so many peoples anger over this new slowing effect. I want to keep the players happy, but there is something seriously wrong when players demand the ability to run through huge swarms of zombies without even caring that they are there. Why have zombies at all? Swamp becomes a game of running in circles around the warehouse... in
  fact, ever since the /No Z command was added, many players tell me that they keep zombie sounds disabled constantly. They dont need to be bothered hearing zombies because they just run through them anyway.I know this was just a long complaint on my part, but I just dont understand what caused so many players to get into this situation. Swamp was a hard game at first, and it never tried to cradle you and hold your hand as you played. There are enough audio games that do that. Swamp made you work for what you got. Fast forward to now and players have a completely different attitude. Swamp isnt about dying or working hard. Swamp is about having every weapon in the game, not dying for 10 months at a time, soloing 200 crate missions with 180 zombies, and basically going through most of the game without ever having to fight anything. Any time I make a change to try and get us closer to how it was meant t
 o be, everyone loses their minds!When I say everyone, I dont really mean everyone. My entire post is only referring to a portion of the players, but it is a large portion. I guess Im just complaining because its been an overwhelming day of reading emails and skype messages. I am disappointment to see so many Swamp players turn Swamp into something it was not meant to be, but at the same time I believe it is my job to keep as many players happy as I can. There must be some sort of solution to this mess, but I havent though of it yet. *heavy sigh*

Thanks for the suggestions but like I said it turns out it was the CPU fan. The systems not that old, its an Ivybridge I7 so losing it now would hurt especially since money is really tight.Just as a note, no I cant see the bios info since I cant see anything. I needed sighted help to finish the build, but only as far as connecting up the front panel power/LED connectors and getting windows running.

Hi. I have some things to report. The same as someone posted, the rithm heven pack doesnt download a}d thereis a pack in the downloader called Jana pack. When i downloaded it, it had no sounds, no music, no nothing! Also, thanks for taking my sonic pack. I will try to make it a bit shorter, when i get some time. I actually love the new changes in armer, even you slowing down when being hit by zombies. It makes it much more life like. The running speed thing? I love that as well. I have all high armer on and I can still run well enough to try my best to avoid the biters. I honestly dont understand the complaints here. Are developer is doing such an awesome job being only one person. and this is a side project in his real life agenda.

Ok. The person who made the other sonic pack, hats off! Seriously! I just need to know one thing. Is this my packs update; but can it stilll be considered mine, or is the update the creators? Because if you would like to make the pack more like mine, i have some thinggs to adress that i found while playing. First, the first level is better because you put the end of it in. The second is the same, the third is the same. Thanks for the pre 4 by the way! I would like a pre 5 as well. I understannd the shortening in level 6. Sorry, the timing in level 7 is half then mine. If you make it that way, then level 8 is slower then level 7. If you want, you can correct that, but as i said, its your choice. Also, thanks for the pre 8. Over all, i cant make good packs, thats all. Thanks for updating mine! But i still remember that i wanted to use these tracks.

Hmm and who would have thought the borg would have issues with cooling.Anyway I dont know per say but from my databanks and I am sure that data has not changed for some time the main board bios should in theory have a speed control built in to increase or decrease the fans accordingly.Failing that there maybe something from the motherboard manufacturer that will do this though you really need things adjusted automatically to temperature.I have never thought about a system that does not already do this its a basic feature of all systems designed after 2003better designs were made after 2007 point is I dont even know it just does it.There are controls apparently but I have never heard if they exist.

Hi cx2I have this on my brothers i3.Either the board or the power supply itself could be on the blink.or the cmos battery.What Id do is clean the dust out the system.Clean all the components, and clean all the dust with compressed air either with a compresser or something or whatever.Id also clean the heatsinc with the compressed air and regrease the sync.Id also check all fans are spinning as I have known to have fans stuck.Id reseat the cmos battery or even replace it.Id check the bios smart info I assume you can see to build your own system.Id also run pcpitstop, from what you are telling me it sounds like the board or cpu may be out.I was able to however after removing and cleaning all fans and such clean the cpu and other things and blow the dust out the back.I then cleaned the sync and removed and regreased the sync.The issue is still there but its gr
 eatly reduced.The other thing I suggest is getting something like motherboard moniter and monitoring the temperatures, maybe there is a fan failier in the system and things are going way hot.As ffor activations is this spreading beyond jaws.If cards are doing strange things or failing to start it does sound like a failing component, the main board or processer.I have had graphics cards and tv cards fail on occation.At any rate regrease the heatsync check and if needed replace all fans and regerase all syncs and clean your dust and it may work.I did this and the system has not crashed though that doesnt mean there isnt still a problem with my power supply.Id also suggest to not hibernate or sleep the system to minimise stress on standbuy and to remove unnecessary programs from loading.How old is your system?It could be time to replace it.Systems to get dusty from being used naturally.The systems here 
 including my laptop and the 2 desktop workstations are used daily sometimes they crunch numbers all night.I had an old amd system run for 6 years doing various things before a card cooked itself and that was with 24 hour use.

Hi all,first of, I hope Im in the right forum with my question, if not, please remove it to the right forum!My question is: How can I make professional recordings that are used in games? I often notice that recordings in games that are spoken of people (like in menus etc.) have a very good quality with no other noices.Because I often speak in games or programs too Id like to know what I have to do. @Dan, that sounds more like a browser or ram issue. Try turning display of images off and checking what else is accessing the net at the same time, also try clearning temporary internet files, Ive noticed that can help in Ie if I get slowdown.

I am having a similar issue with my windows 8 laptop that is about 2 years old.A lot of the time, when I shut my computer completely down and turn it back on, or when it is restarting, it will just shut off in the middle of restarting. When I turn it back on it will be on for 10 or 15 seconds and then just turn off again. I have to turn it on like 5 or 6 times before it actually boots up properly. Because of this I put my computer on standby when im not using it for short periods of time.Ive also noticed that after a very short time of using it, it feels extremely hot, and the fan is also constantly on and extremely loud. Do you guys think its a fan issue or something more serious? I cant figure out why my computer is constantly turning off when I try to turn it on, so I always leave it on standby.

yeah, im pretty sure that super egg hunt plus has an automatic key generator. My friend bought it for me as a gift and I got the key right away.I agree with everyone else that liam should just have an auto key generator like he does with super egg hunt plus. Im kind of glad now that I didnt by sl or judgment day. I was considering it for a while, but I was afraid to because of all the problems I heard of from people when they got keys, it would take up to weeks or even months to get one.I also hope that liam has not stopped trying to make judgment day freeware and that he has not just said to heck with it and dropped the whole project. He does sadly have a reputation for that.

That is a shame. stupid kickstarter and their unreasonable limitations, why the hellit is always an all or nothing in just one month when your trying to raise so much money I dont know, its a really unfare system especially when dealing with important fringe projects like accessible games.

@Dan, that sounds more like a browser or ram issue. Try turning display of images off and checking what else is accessing the net at the same time, also try clearning temporary internet files, Ive noticed that can help in Ie if I get slowdown.Also, if your using firefox note that its a severe ram hog.

Not sure on that one Dan. In internet explorer you could try disabling images or clearing temporary internet files that often helps with slowdown. I had a wee bit of slowdown initially on the Drakor main page, but once I logged in it was fine, and indeed that only seems to happen at times of heavy traffic.

I agree 100% with aprone. First, swamp is mostly a shooting game. If people ajusted to how the game was before, there is NO WAY they wont be able to ajust in the long run to the newest version. Personally, I use low armor and dont think that 87% is a big deal, trading more speed for a bit less protection is fine with me. Ive done tons of missions without killing lots of zombies, and to me at least, it feels much more rewarding to kill some zombies blocking your path to a crate than just running past them. Thats just my opinion, and people saying that they cant ajust probably should try to find strategies. I was not able to do 200 crates mission at first, i had to ajust. Anyway, Aprone, dont give up, I understand it must be hard to please everyone but dont forget that its a game and people should ajust as well.

Aprone, Personally, the zombies slowing you down when getting hit and the new armor system adds a new challenge to the game in my opinion. The frustrating, but fun bit, I suppose is when you are trying to figure out a strategy for the game. Im Not unsatisfied with the new update, It simply caught me and many others by surprise when we fully learned how far down you can slow down. As a result, many of us died, or came near to dieing. I have loved swamp since the first day I started playing. I have had my moments where I want to rage, but Ill usually come back later and think of a different solution to the problem I am currently having. I do not expect this game to be easy. When I bought my account, I knew that changes in the game would cause me to alter my strategies and that I could become angry. Just know that I fully support you in any decision you decide about the game. I will be frustrated at first, but I will get used to any changes you make to the game.
