Well things are going well, I'm over level 200 and have tried several more activites. A few things still mildly confuse me, for a start farming and how the balance thing works, eg, how much plant food you get for the area you've plowed and where to get animals. I am thinking about building a factory, but I'm not absolutely clear on where to get the resources, because while I found metal scraps on planetoids, there doesn't seem to be wood or plastic anywhere else which is strange, actually since you can chop down trees for hut building it is sort of odd you can't chop your own wood . I also wonder about cargo barrels, since I did a combat mission, slaughtered some vacus fighters and collected the barrels, but only got ration packs which don't seem of much use, no blueprints. And if you get cargo barrels when you destroy enemies, how do you find enemies to actually destroy if they no longer turn up in asteroid or planetoid fields? Though on the plus side, I did manage to complete a mission with 10 vacus fighters, though mostly thanks to the obscure field I think, and I won't try an attack ship one. Indeed I don't really get where you find better starship weapons to go and do combat missions or how you fight enemies if they're not around to be killed. On the other hand ground combat rocks, though I'm looking forward to using swoop and tailwhip again, actually it would be cool if swoop would let you  an enemy in another square and get a couple of free hits, eg, you land on them from above, or if smoke cloud could give you the chance to take cover.I am a little sorry though that there are no rewards for killing monsters anymore, since it makes  ground combat missions much less lucrative if you don't get points for each enemy you slay.

Hello everyone! I have a question to ask.  I am running Windows Ten and suddenly got the muse to play Swamp again.. But, I'm getting this message:---Swamp---Component 'MSCOMM32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid---OK   ---I realize there was a topic on how to do this or something, but I'm unable to follow those instructions given the fact that this version is so far in front of that old one. Well skype is how I communicate for groups and family.So no way am I anot using it.So I guess if I need to then I guess I will have to.It maybe will push me to getting an ios device or droid, who knows, probabbly apple or at least something that can use whats app because thats what everyone I know uses now.True there is an nvda group I use on skype but to be honest once I do get into whats app, bar a few friends that I won't have anymore there is probably vary little reason to even bother staying on the skype client.Hopefully they get this cross platform thing right.If it hits win10, that will be another nail in the coffin.With the death of ms music among other things, its going to become harder and harder to convince me to upgrade and not just go back to a less secure version of windows.

Well nidza07 it depends upon your beliefs. I tend to take him at his word, but if you don't that's up to you. While I do have my issues with some of his design decisions, I will say in communications I've had with him he seems more than a reasonable chap and has been very honest with the community over the years, one reason whu it would be nice if those of the community who wished supported him about this, but it's of course up to everyone to decide what they're going to do, if anything.

from someone that plays heavily I'll tell you that the best games often have between 5 and 7 players, 4-6 characters and one narrator, though there is also rotating narration where the role of narrator is swapped every scene but a lot of people, including myself, aren't huge fans and those games tend to fail, though I'm playing in an incredible space western using that format.Also a good narrator will make strong outcomes interesting, but indeed, I am often complimented for having particularly interesting weak outcomes. If you're new to the game, get on one of the beginner games and you'll see what the Storium thing is all about and will also get handholding from experienced and helpful players who have been around the block a few times. I don't run beginner games myself and din't have them available when I joined, but it will get you new guys up to the speed of everyone who had to find out what worked and what didn't by trial and error. . Also, just for writing tips or hints on what works in Storium from people I love and trust on the community. There is the Storium-Arc podcast, which just released its 50th episode of its main show a week ago today. I've been on the thing since episode 32. The podcast also has companion shows (included in the subscription) for New World Report (where we look at the worlds that were funded by kickstarter and theoretically we'll cover other worlds released in the future,) and also Zeromusic runs  "behind the keyboard" where he interviews prominent and highly-recommeneded storium users. The podcast is free and all the shows, as well as any  future spin-offs we develop are all included under that title.Also, for those of you who want to see what Storium is like, would linking up one of my games here be helpful. I could drop a link for my steampunk adventure "High-flying Ransom" where you could look at a story and read it and also see how stuff works? The game is public to read for anyone but you could see some of the nuts and bolts just by reading the pages and scenes.

ethin, 20 dollars is not the maximum for price on the appstore, KNFB reader is 100 dollars at least, or close to that. That is very over priced, even more so than jaws.While I personally was not too big a fan of many blindfold games, I did not know there are over 80 of them. I do think its rather annoying that apple have rejected their games, however I don't think it was because of accessibility. While contacting the accessibility team at apple is a nice jesture for blindfold games, I also don't think its going to do much. Apple don't seem like the type of people to really care about third party apps. Even if they did, I don't think the accessibility team would know anything about this since, at apple, you can't discuss anything with anybody. Nothing. Since I don't think the accessibility team would have had anything to do with this, I don't think anybody on the team would know much about it since they are so clasified.

An $150 per upgrade? Then, why is FS charging $550 to go from 15 to 2018. If you notice, that is 4 upgrades. System is best compared to what web aloud used to be if anyone remembers what that product is. System access, as far as I can tell, is designed for home use instead of professional use like what FS seems to be aiming for with JAWS. This may be why serotech seems to offer system access with serro and DocuScan plus in one package. Yes you get basic support for word and the like, but you might want to use something else with more professional type features. Now one interesting thing is that jaws 2018 has built in basic scanning. To me, if I am force to update to windows 10 today, I will be force over to NVDA seeing that I am four versions behind on JAWS. I myself have been known to work with word documents that had comments that I had to gain access to. Having JAWS bring up and display a list of those comments to me has proven useful. On the other hand, JAWS could be a bit better when it comes to getting around word document tables. Every now and then, having the document in question presented to me as an HTML document has made things a touch easier when there was a bunch of a headings to getting around. Go look at the user guide for the latest braille sense for an example. Yes, I have used JAWS to create power point things and found it doable, but I often find that I export power point files to RTF outlines when I need to look at said files. Not always the best, but it works. It is worth noting that I am using office 2010. As a side note, knowing when the formatting changes helps a bunch. I also find that hitting shift plus alt plus l to give me a list of misspelled words and then hitting enter on one of those misspelled words to jump to the misspelled word of my choice to be really useful. Now, I really do need to get to seeing if NVDA does what I need it to do, and if not, what it would take to make it work.

It doesn't surprise me if Microsoft breaks or destroys its work. I am used to it now. It destroyed the enticing experience of Windows 7, it did away with some very good applications that were available from Windows XP to Windows 7, now it's the turn of Skype. Hope they at least maintain Windows Media Player as it is the only desktop application that has remained from older versions of Windows.

Dark, not all apps have to be in the same app. What they suggested was better grouping for apps. He could have made something like blindfold card games, blindfold arcade games, blindfold sport games and so on. Menu structure is still not very related to accessibility, though even if it was i still don't see any reason for apple to give him exceptions. He was not open minded with apple at all, and expected them to just play by his rules instead of the other way round.

So, this is from someone who's about to release a game that will very definitely have separate visual / non-visual modes, so I know it's a bit ironic...but I love that you have made this game universally accessible in its design. I think that, any time the nature of a game allows, that's absolutely the best way to go for accessibility. A separate accessibility mode is fine, and great when it's necessary—but any time that developers can make a game that can be played in the same way, by a variety of people, I think that's a huge win.

this is true,but when you use x86intrin.h, immintrin.h, avxintrin.h which are for different instruction set in x86/x64 processors, in different compilers you sometimes get crashable codei have to note that compilers are not so much intelegent to generate the best codealso you cant use instruction set for arm for example in x86, they are totally (by totally i mean completely) different in terms of registers, instructions, etc

I can't believe the release date is finally here. [[wow]] Joseph and all, you guys are awesome. I will for sure be playing this game as soon as I get an email about it. For those of us in the US that are on government funding through SSI, the cool thing is we get paid on Dec 29th. Lol. For those that have issues with the game or the way the developer is running things, or how KS does things, I think it is wrong to come on here and flame the developer for the way they do things, They are the developer after all, They could choose to stop development or pus the release date back farther. It is in their hands how this plays out and we should be patient. When you come to a point when you create a game or something, then you can decide how the process should g. So an update:Bad news: I have to redo the engine; the engine is pretty much a mess. Also I have no job. I had to quit since I have chronic illness that has yet to be diagnosed. It is the source of most of the problems I had in the last few years, and it's obvious that working in an office makes it much worse. I was having 2 migraines a day. I needed to quit.Good news: I'm safe and I have a lot of time on my hands. I'll probably not start with the engine rewrite until December, but I want to start work on an accessibility extention that I can sell to other indies so they can start implementing easier accessibility into their games as well. I have absolutely every intention on continuing this game but it's very hard now that I am sick and unable to work outside of remote work. I'll probably be doing small work here and there but not much. Thankfully with a fully functioning prototype I can't imagine it taking too long to rebuild but I'm also in the process of rebuilding my life so meh.Honestly these last 4-5 years have been a long line of FOR FUCK'S SAKE over and over again. I think I'm just tired now.

Hey guys,@aaron, I'm working on wave mode right now, that's not what I'm going to call it, though anyway. There is kind of a problem though. When you complete the mass destruction booster, that basically gives you another wave of objects as the debris destroys it.It's a complex system I can't really explain on writing, and that's the problem I have to sort out. What will be the major difference between completing the md booster, and wave blaster mode?Objects become stronger both when you level up, and when you complete the mass destruction booster. If you guys could think of suggestions to make wave blaster mode unique, I think I could get them in.@orko, objects are extremely easy to make. All you need, are 3 flip sounds, flip1.ogg is used when the object has greater than 50 percent health remaining,flip2 is used when the object has less than that, and flip3 is when the object is flipped completely.Loop or itemname.ogg is the item's main loop, debrishit.ogg is used when debris hits the object.After this you will need a properties.txt file. You can copy one over from another object and modify it, or create a new one. Either way, you may wish to consult the readme for further details on the attributes.I hope this helps, looking forward to seeing what objects you create!@kratos, the website has moved from Colton's hosting, it is now at my website. Hi there. Like a lot of the recent new users, I am a enrolled in an audio only game design class at University of Baltimore. I am trying to make an horror experience through the use of audio only elements. Some of my methods so far, besides spooky demon noises, are interesting spacialized ambient noises and music elements drawn from horror movie scores. Jokes aside, there are visual effects in the game for example when you cast a spell, but typically for audiogames they play a minor role. To be honest some of our beta testers didn’t notice since travelling through our fantasy world works best with headphones and closed eyes.Sound:Sound design is crucial to bring Audio games to life. We spared no efforts to handcraft thousands of sound effects and cut our programmers food ration to half to be able to hire good composers. Well, I don't think the developer of the yugi mud got permission to do that, but I know that the developers of interfaces like YGOPro DevPro or YGOPro2 already got problems with the lawyer so they needed to prevent people from downloading their stuff publically on the net. Thats why you need to join the discord servers to grab the links, because thats some kind of a gray zone right now.WoC are even worse than Konami, thats why there is, except of XMage, nearly no other MTG game on the net except the originals from WoC, because they track you down and make you pay if you try to do that. I believe the main developers of XMage are stationed in some "protected" country like China, where the laws are a bit different from the ones in the USA or UK or whatever, which makes things harder for WoC.I never said you may not try it, I just told ya that it will probably cost you alot and even more if you try to do it privately and pay someone for developing it.Best Regards.Hijacker

Also, how do you change the speech rate of Python eSpeak used to run RS Games?I sort of gave up on eMacSpeak as Orca seems to be working fine right now, so I don't know how much benefit I would gain from using another screen reader.

I'm guessing and hoping Orko's post was intended humorously. I for one always intended to hold onto my cash until there was something to show. Joseph you just made my day with that announcement. And since next month I'll have paid off the most longstanding of my debts I just might have to treat myself when the game comes out. Don't see why this would be a difference at all... it wouldn't take too long to adapt, it has nothing to do with being blind. The time switch is something I don't even notice, and though I know it gets darker earlier or later, doesn't really make a difference to me... unfortunately, jetlag doesn't suffer from the same beneficial circumstances. lol

As to the blindfold gamesthe nuts and bolts of the mechanics of those I've played have been solid enough, I actually rather enjoy their arcade titles and what of their card games I've tried. My only major issue with them is that often Marty's design hasn't been one I agreed with. For example, he frequently makes things that should imho be more difficult levels accessed once you've completed easier ones as optional extras that must be enabled in settings, but this certainly isn't a major objection. @nidza07, one thing I will say, is that I don't think this is a case of Apple changing their hole user policy at all or Marty being greedy for money. There have been plenty of blindfold games  obviously, and Apple have only just objected, this is a new direction for them and a new attitude, one reason why I do think contacting the accessibility team might be helpful since obviously those who make the rules concerning what aps are approved have made a policy decision which does not take into account accessibility requirements. This is one reason I hope the situations is solvable. I don't think it's a case of "Apple is a crap company", "accessibility as a marketing strategy"  or similar so much as the usual bureaucratic shenanigans where rules are being wrongly applied than situations looked at individually, which you'll find in any organisation, again one reason why I do hope to change minds about this.

No, don't contact Apple. What he did is unacceptable. He gave the info for the accessibility team. Now let me ask you. What does accessibility team have to do with the team for reviewing apps? Nothing. For those who say how Apple is using accessibility as marketing, think again. They have apsolutely no reason to change their whole user agreement for the apps submissions just for audio games. They can't give him exceptions. The reason he wont continue developing is because he can't make money. Oh well, so sad. He could at least write a more complete blog post and give us the right people to contact instead of throwing the first available apple email.

sent them a strongly-worded letter explaining the situation and why it needs to change. Was not a fan of blindfold games but also didn't try many of them as many of them didn't appeal to the types of games I seemed to like, at the very least the ones I new about though I know now there are over 80 so what I knew about wasn't much.I did it more to be honest because I see a disturbing trend in apple and app developers. While some, like Curious, (a maker of a learning site, not a game) and the guys who make godville and app11y are going with us, a lot of games that used to work for me now no longer do. Also, with some of the recent IOs updates, I've found my equipment is actually less accessible and has little bugs and problems that it didn't used to have. The trend is worrying.Oddly, amazon is actually getting better at this and I might start using more android and amazon products in the future if this downhill slope continues.

We'd adapt okay in Britain. I think we could cope with shifting from GMT to UTC heheh. Seriously though, whenever people have suggested Britain go to the same time as the rest of Western Europe, there's been resistance, and that's just a one hour change. I think it would be asking a lot to get people in Australia or the US or whatever to totally screw with their time. From what I can gather, people in the US didn't exactly welcome the metric system with open arms, so I doubt they'd readily accept messing with their time either.

There no free upgrades unless you bought a SMA back when you bought version 13, and that would only get you up to version 15.If you didn't, not only will you have to pay $150 for the upgrade to 2018, but you'll have to pay the upgrade fee for all those versions you skipped. So you'll have to pay 6 times  $150 or $900 to upgrade to 2018, at that price you may as well skip the upgrades and just buy a new license for 2018.Yeah, I know, it's the greediest and most unfair upgrade policy I've ever seen in my 38 years in the computer industry.If it were me, I'd probably start taking a good hard look at NVDA. But since I like JAWS, I make it a point to keep my SMAs up to date so it only costs me $5 per month to stay current.

That's all the proof I need that Apple's only consideration for accessibility is to use it as a marketing strategy. If they were truly serious about accessibility, they wouldn't be shutting down accessible game developers.
