Fixing my Nexus 7 Tablet

Hello,I gave my 2013 Nexus 7 to my dad after his iPad Mini stopped working. He wanted a tablet that he could use to take pictures for his eBay store and listen to radio shows when he goes to sleep. The tablet fell off his bed and the screen cracked.He wanted me to take a look at it after he claimed the audio was skipping with his bluetooth speaker connected to the tablet. After enabling TalkBack, I found that the device wasn't registering gestures and seemed to be randomly clicking on things/moving the cursor which caused TalkBack to continuously read onscreen content. I'm not sure what's going on? Is the touch screen the only damaged component or did some vital internal component break? I'm thinking it's the latter. At this point, the tablet is useless. I can't even power it off because I can't activate the power off onscreen control. Would it be worthwhile to attempt replacing the screen or should I just throw it away? I've had it for over three years, so the warranty has been gone for a long time.

NLS only offers authorization keys for specialized players. I'm not sure why they're so unwilling to let users listen on desktop operating systems like Windows and Mac. You can try contacting them and telling them you want support for Bard on Windows. I'd personally also love it on macOS as well.

I don't live in the US and am not a US citizen, so I can't access BARD. However, from what I know, to get an authorization key for your product, you have to contact NLS. They will confirm your elligiblity and give you a key that you install into your product. Can you read books with BARD Express? If you're a JAWS user, you can also use FSReader.

Reading books from BARD on PC

So it's been a while since I have tried to make this happen and look into ways that this could be done, but I'm giving it another try. APH has a program (and I have no idea how old it is) called Book Wizard Reader. I've looked into this program a while back, but I gave up on it because I couldn't figure out why I couldn't listen to the books using it. Now, since a lot of time has passed, I understand that books from BARD are encrypted and any player attempting to play the books requires authorization. Knowing this, I've been attempting to get an authorization file from NLS, but I'm not entirely sure how this would be done for this situation. This program isn't included in the list of players that the BARD website provides when attempting to authorize new players. So, all that being said, my question is if anyone has ever had any success making this happen? (not even necessarily via this method) I just want to read books from BARD on my PC. lol I've tried a lot of different things in an effort to make this work. Does anyone have any ideas? I wonder why there isn't any official software from NLS on PC for this purpose.

where the literal thing is concerned, things get even more out of hand for me when the person I'm talking to starts exagerating.  there are things that are just, exageration, and then there's a line of blowing things out of proportion I tend to refer to as overexageration, which is a line of lying so blatant you know it just, can't be true.an example of this is for someone to say that you have such a mess in your house and they start naming things they se wrong in a list and end up saying something along the lines of, how you have 50 million wires scattered about that you obviously don't use.  My brain automatically goes, "wht?" How do I have 50 million of anything if I don't have the room to store it in let alone keep it to myself?  For that matter, how do I have 50million of anything if I can't buy it?  that's when I feel like a person is just trying to add weight to a conversation they already feel has turned into an argument and they're losing.  Because I don't like conflict and would rather avoid it, I usually try to say nothing and end up making people on the other side feel ignored.  there's no way, however, that I can peacefully continue arguing with someone I know is exagerating to the point of nonsensical insanity.

Pressing enter on a file in macOS presents you with an edit box to rename the item. You must press command o or command with down arrow to open a file. In the case of a dmg, it will become an available disk on the desktop if you have the Finder configured to show external disks on the desktop. If not, press command shift c to open the computer window and locate the mounted disk image in that list.

Hey there,I am willing to help out. I've tried this program out before, and although I've only gotten a few things to work, I am still willing to help in any way that I can.I own both MK9, and Ultra Street Fighter IV. My main game is USFIV though.I've been playing fighting games ever since I was a kid. I especially love playing the different Street Fighter games. I play a lot of Street Fighter V right now but, I'd say that I'm pretty kick ass in Ultra Street Fighter IV as well. I've been playing Ultra Street Fighter IV ever since it came out in 2009. Back then, it was just called Street Fighter IV.Helping out is no problem but, I'm so use to playing the game with no accessibility features that it's a bit weird, when I actually play with the different cues. I will still try it though, and let you know how everything goes.

I don't know what's happened, but I'm able to read numbers  in gear a lot more reliably now when looking over it.  It doesn't say what stat they increase, but you've got your character stats at the top and it's instantanious checking to see which went up.

Druid minions do not scale when you switch eq, which Means you can indeed get them in your cast set and then switch to another without them losing power. I believe the same goes for mage and cleric minions. Necro is drawing the short straw there though, which is why I tend to not bother using my mana regen set much on my main character anymore since switching will just dent my skeletons.The cleric spell you're asking about is meant for people enchanting tank equipment and is a complete art on its own. The spell will only Work on equipment with no stats at all and will usually add a bunch of temporary armour (note that it is the armour effect, not AC). You can also cast it for a permanent enchant, but that will generally result in a lower amount of armour... From what I know anyway. I can't say I have used it much myself just yet.

@Rastislav Kiss, commonly, when used as a multiple, like "blinds", it's a shorthand for window blinds, as in the Slovak word "rolety", as opposed to meaning multiple blind people. For that, you'd either say "for blind people" or else "for the blind". I agree, that that last one is actually quite confusing and doesn't make any logical sense. I guess that's English for you. Sorry, I was just pointing it out that I wasn't familiar with the term, that and I hope it isn't something people pick up on and use as a term for multiple blind people... that's an entirely separate discussion.Well, I'd say I get most of what I need from existing tools. That being said, if this is only for things like BGT, which doesn't really have an IDE as far as I know, I'd imagine this would be quite good for that community. I've never tried doing things in BGT, but it might be good for that. What would you say its main selling point is, though, as opposed to something like Notepad++?

Hi. How nice, that there's still some interest in oldschool standalone sound synthesis software!Well, before vst started spreading like virus and killing everything in the way, there were all kinds of funky little proggies for sound synthesis. Yeh, not all of them were good for screen reader users, but some still worked incredibly. As most of this kind of software hasn't been updated for many years, it can get pretty fiddly trying to make stuff work under modern operating systems and hardware, but fortunately not every program is really all that picky and can still cope.There was one especially good thingie, called the Ts404. It is a quite traditional subtractive synthesizer with two oscillators, a multimode filter, an lfo and an adsr envelope. In addition it has delay and distortion effects, a 16 step sequencer and can run upto four instances inside one program. It doesn't do exactly realtime output recording, unless something like Audacity or other audio editor is used to capture it's output, instead it saves patterns as .raw files. Fortunately most audio editors are capable of working with those and converting to other formats. Ts404 sounds somewhat cold comparing to modern virtual analog modelling, but it's still probably one of the best tools for beginning blind synthesists to learn on, at least for me and some of my friends it definitely was. Interface is based on classic standard sliders, comboboxes and checkboxes, so works well with screen readers. One odd thing is, that with NVDA some, if not even all the sliders work in reverse, but it doesn't interfere with program's working in any way, just a little concideration.As it's quite difficult to find ts404 on the web nowadays, I'm giving a dropbox link here. I think we might be on to something here. I too, oddly enough, have been involved over some arguments and disputes over relative positioning recently. More interestingly enough, I'm always the one who ends up on the receiving end of someone's frustrations when, just like Nocturnus mentioned, I take things too literally. I wonder why this seems to be such a common thing? Anyway, I think Aprone summed up one of the main problems very well. People lack the ability to just stop talking and move on. Even though he was talking specifically about the situation with his co workers, I certainly think that this applies to many different people. It seems as though people have a hard time letting go of disputes or arguments and have to draw them out. No one wants to throw in the towel. It's very unfortunate. (especially when they ask for your input in an effort to settle things)

Well. by now I vecome a bit more familiar with Chrome, and have actually fixed all my issues with it, only 1 has still remained: the one with merging bookmarked pages!I tried to re-import them from Firefox, but with the same result, they initially were placed into a separate, "imported from Mozilla Firefox" folder, and I still have found no way to remove them, or my new ones bookmarked in Chrome, into the same group or folder.(normally this is only a minor inconvenience for me, the delay it causes is minimal, but I would still like everything to work the way I prefer...it's my perfectionism I guess)

Going on missions is definitely the fastest way to level, especially when you're low leveled.  You'll need to find some diesel fuel to lead a mission (from the safe zone menu), or find someone else who is willing to use their own fuel to lead a mission.

In the graphical window unless it's a standard library allocation you can press yes to copy the stack trace to the clipboard. I don't know how wine works but I'd think there's be some way of emulating the windows clipboard, so couldn't something be done that way?

I remember it being easy. I think I had to mount the dmg and copy the files from it, but I'm not really sure. I didn't and still don't know how to use Mac at all so it was kinda painful. But barring my unfamiliarity with the OS, it wasn't hard to do.

I think higher level competitive play would not be possible, but I think online play in general could be doable. Learn the game mechanics and how a single character plays, then branch out. Play through that character's tutorial and a story/some arcade modes on normal to learn how the flow of the game works.If you are stuck with any tutorial section, you can play the game and come back to it later. I'm assuming the "blinds" is an English mistake, rather than you saying you've written an IDE specifically for window coverings. I hope so. I'm sure the blinds I encounter are going to be after revenge and might see this as their golden opportunity!My first question is, why would we use this, and not something more full-featured and mainstream, like Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio Community (yes I'm biased towards VS), Eclipse, etc? All are accessible, to a lesser or greater degree?

Skullgirls / 2D fighting games advice for a complete beginner

Hey guys!Well, today I finally managed to do something that I've been wanting to do for the longest time: I installed Windows 10 on my Mac using Boot Camp, then downloaded the Steam client and created an account.It was a bit tricky, especially since I don't really use Windows a lot, but using the many awesome tips and tricks on here I was able to get it all set up eventually.So then, I began looking into which mainstream game I should start with and soon came across Skullgirls, which I then purchased and downloaded.And really, I guess that was probably the best choice I could have made, as it really is totally amazing what the developer has done in order to get this to work with screen readers!Also, I picked up and dusted off my Logitech Cordless Rumble Pad 2, which I think I received as a Christmas present a very long time ago, but which I have never actually used for anything really.That setup was very painless and I was excited to see that Skullgirls recognized the controller in no time.Not sure how most of you guys play this and similar games, but I'm pretty sure that using a controller is much more efficient than using the keyboard, but please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.So here I am, just managed to complete some of the tutorials, though I'm still not sure how to do any of the advanced moves / combos. But then, I've never really played any such games previously, so I guess that's normal...I'll probably just have to figure this out step-by-step, but was wondering if there might be anybody on here who may be willing to help me out?Some tips would definitely be greatly appreciated, or if anybody would be interested on doing a Skype session and doing some online fights, that would be totally awesome.I could probably just create a lobby and try fighting whoever decides to join, but since I'll probably end up failing horribly, I think I'd rather wait until my skills are a little more developed, haha!Also, 2 quick questions:1. Right now, I'm not feeling any force feedback in my gamepad when fighting, even when I'm being hit. Is this the intended / recommended behavior, or is it something that I can / should enable somehow?2. For those of you who are more experienced playing this game, is it actually possible to successfully battle sighted players online, or would they have too much of an advantage as they'd be able to see the screen? Not sure if this question makes any sense in the context of this game, but I remember playing Audio Quake years ago, where you could also connect to mainstream Quake servers, but killing sighted players was pretty much impossible for the most part.Well, that's it from me right now!Thanks for reading my rather lengthy post, looking forward to hearing from y'all! :-)Robin

I thought the same, that the high quality voices wouldn't be in the DMG's, but curious minds just love to extract things. I tried 7zip with a DMG, but it was ugly. I can't remember the issue, but I know it failed. I can try again and report back, but I'd be rather curious about the MAC VM. do I just hit enter on the DMG, and the MAC will automatically extract it?

Angarag I've made it a point to never assign moderators to Swamp, or give anyone any type of position of authority.  I believe it invites problems, and we have more than enough examples in the audio games community to show just how bad things can get once a game has admins (besides the creator).  Even people I trust, would not really be trusted in such a position, because I am very good at controlling my temper and even I get led to the brink by players at times.  The moment some admin lashes out or does something to abuse their position, then I get yanked back into the mess, now with a much larger mess to sort out than if I hadn't left it in someone else's hands.Making Swamp free would be the same thing as destroying it.  It would last for a short time, and then as soon as the cheaters and hackers showed up, things would spiral out of control fast.  I already know that some people would say "just have you or an admin ban them", and they probably see it as a valid solution.  If it was as simple as that, then there wouldn't be an issue.Swamp was moved to a paid system so that the players could enjoy the game without an endless supply of hackers and cheaters ruining everything.  My continually adding content was never the reason, so changing that shouldn't really have any impact on the paid verse free thing in my opinion.

It's funny that relative positioning were brought up since last night during work 2 co workers got into an actual yelling match over just that thing.  The woman sorting packages is facing 2 walls of "bins" set side by side.  Each wall is a grid of 24 chutes that come out on the other side where a worker opens each "bin" and groups all packages inside into a single nylon bag.  Sounds easy but the bags end up weighing 70 pounds and this process is repeated many hundreds of times.  So anyway, the guy yells that he needs her to push down packages that were wedged into one of the bins.  He says it's number 12 on Her right.  She quickly figures out that he meant His right and light heart-idly says that as she breaks the jam.  Argument ensues.  He's flat out offended that she can't understand something as simple as right from left.  As they go back and forth they're each trying to explain the basic concept of reversing direction to the other, and people start jumping in to take sides.I rolled my eyes generally ignored it, until I heard my name coming from the roar of angry people.  The original woman had turned and was calling to me to "Tell Randy that this is my left please".  I suppose I should be flattered that my co workers usually regard my word as the final say on matters of logic and reasoning (I personally think it is because I don't get drawn into things until I've thought it completely through and can then state the truth in a very calm matter-of-fact way), so I took a look and said she was right.  People stopped arguing and after a silent pause, the man's voice on the other side of the walls yells back "Yep, you're right, I was looking at it wrong".Crisis averted right?  Well then the 2 groups went back and forth for a while longer.  My side of the wall kept feeling the need to comfort the man with understanding phrases about how it's a simple mix up, they've done it before, and how they can understand how where he was standing probably caused his confusion.  His side of the wall kept saying things to down-play the mistake, offer up excuses trying to blame the mistake on the layout of the walls in relationship to other objects, and other nonsense.  Basically people lacked the ability to just stop talking and move on.  I really really hate 99% of what people say while I'm at work.  If people would all work in complete silence I would be SO happy!

Hi all! I've just started playing the game, and I have one request. If not for this game, maybe for future games of this sort, can we not make the escape key something that exits the game without saving?I just blew a game I've been working on for a good hour or more, and it just went poof when my instinct to exit a menu is still hitting the escape key, and it all went to data heaven. arghh!Otherwise, thanks for this sim, its a fun game and I guess I'm still in the learning stages.

Funny Turtlepower, at  the school for the blind I attended it was the other way around. if you had any usable vision you were made to feel guilty for having it,  for example  if you were playing a game with a totally blind person, often the staff would give the total person some really amazingly unfair  advantage, for example I once remember myself and one other eight year old playing football against four ten year old boys  and it was held to be fair because we could see, never mind the fact we were smaller and ran less far, and the blasted ball with the bell  wasn't at all visible anyway . This was definitely an attitude fostered by teachers,  for example if I said "I watched a tv program" I was instantly corrected to "you mean you listened to it" and talking about colours or anything else was actively discouraged, heck they even missed the "he gave us eyes to see them" verse of the old hymn all things bright and beautiful.

@nocturnus, due to me havign a bit of a  spacial thing anyway,  while I was growing up my parents would always tend to say "On your right hand side" to me, since I could never do  rotational  exercises very well, one odd occasion where my lack of perception possibly lead to a more truthful understanding .I have definitely encountered the occasion where someone is convinced on something which is randomly incorrect but certain nevertheless. My favourite I think was a man who supposedly was studdying councilling, who was convinced that Freud was the founder of "person centered therapy" because Freud always made the person the center of their work. When I asked if he'd ever heard of Rogers (the actual founder of person centered therapy), he told me rogers wasn't that important and it was all about Freud. When I  pointed out that Freud had actually only ever  had 7 patients (none of whom were cured), he told me that was because medicine was so disrupted after the second world war (yes this guy who was supposedly studdying councilling thought Freud lived in the 1950's). I pretty much just gave up after that, though I feel sorry for the councilling profession .

Though I knew for the possibility to add a label to a button via Talkback.Though I'm still hesitating a bit between several phones, the fact that the Pixel series isn't available in France is really a shame. I mean it would have been an easy choice, considering the only reason i may buy the S8 or any Samsung phone is because it would make the transition from IOS easier, and that's something I'm considering less and less.

Oh, and i forgot one thing, when writing compile or run command, Ride offers you also variable, you can use:%file_path%for path to current file and:%file_folder%to folder of current file. I think that the bomb damage radius should be somewhat reduced as well, not for health reasons, but because it's hard to destroy anything when their falling, even if your pretty far away from the action, and their are already so many that I don't think it would make for much less destruction.

Hello all,after few veeks of hard work, I am happy to announce, that I managed to develop new code editor for blinds called Ride.And in what is this editor different from many others? I will copy here a part from the documentation, sorry for my english.citation:1.1 What is RideIt is a problem of many programmers from our blind community. Experienced developers are struggling with it, beginners still forgotting to use it correctly, taking many errors they can't understand.I am talking about indentation and programming languages, where it is required, especially about Python. If you are coding some time in Python, you probably know, how annoying is this.You are often in situation, where you are in sixth or more depth level and must to write many lines, pressing tabulator six or more times, if using space, it can be also more, don't talking about using spaces for indentation, where all is multiplied by 2 or 4.Another problem in programming is, that when you write a lots of code, you don't see forest because of trees. Browsing it by arrow keys, you are crossing many lines you are not interested in, for example in catching keys from a keyboard, everyone have its code block, but if you are editing them, only block that interest you is thatone you want to edit, not a mass of code for other keys, which hovever are distracting you while navigating through them, because you haven't picture about program's work on higher level, only concrete commands.So, my thought was: is it possible to take this two problems and join them together, to give us the advantage?1.2 DescriptionAs a result of it, Ride was developed. It is a very simple code editor pointed to use indetation to make code clearer. And it works!But how it works? It is simple as i sayd. Indentation isn't there for nothing. Sighted programmers are using it to recognize constituent program levels, they can see the distance from the left and ignore all they don't want to see.That is also reason why Python depends on indentation, many sighted programmers used it a lot also int other languages, so braces started to be useless and Python removed needing of them by using oftenly used indentation to recognize codeblocks. And we can do the same as sighted programmers, ignore all we don't want to see, now with help of Ride.For this, basic feature of the Ride is indentation level based navigation. Editor always know, in which level of code are you moving, using indentation. Based on this, you can move around in code, but you always see only content in your current indentation level, nothing deeper, because it probably doesn't interest you. Or?While (True): and you want to see its content? No problem, just expand it and you will see all what you need.That's it, you can imagine code  as a large computer tree, where everything is under something - all content of the while cycle is under it, while is under method, method under class and so.Ride in basic allows you movement in this tree. You will see all the time only things in your part of code.For example, take a small piece of code in BGT:if (key_pressed(KEY_UP)){alert("You pressed up", "");}if (key_pressed(KEY_DOWN)){alert("You pressed down", "");}if (key_pressed(KEY_SPACE)){alert("You pressed space", "");}Yeah, little stupid to use blocks of code to one command, but imagine there are hundred lines in it. Before when you wanted to navigate to if (key_pressed(KEY_DOWN)), you needed to press down arrow four times from up of this small piece of code. Not too hard, but if there are 100 lines? Now it is 103, and that is harder.But not with Ride. Browsing this code in it gives you something like this:if (key_pressed(KEY_UP))if (key_pressed(KEY_DOWN))if (key_pressed(KEY_SPACE))Nothing more, if you want to see and edit what will happen after pressing key down, you will navigate to it by pressing down arrow one time from up of the code and expand it, then you will see something like this:if (key_pressed(KEY_DOWN)){alert("You pressed down", "");}And against nothing else, line with } in this case is end of available area, so you will not get out of this branch and can concentrate fully on it.Line with condition on the top is on lower il, but is also available for better orientation for case when you forget where you are, also for better editation options.This all in other words, Ride allows you to skip hundreds of lines that you aren't interested in and allows you to dive exactly and only to the currently important areas for you.And why I wrote that it works? During development of settings window in Ride, I encountered a problem. I wanted to make events for buttons, checkboxes etc. but I found out that it is not possible, because all window related variables and objects were local, closed in one method not available from outside, including also help methods. Only solution was to write all in thatone method with form.I did not wanted to struggle with messy code.So I developed it in Ride.end

I'll have to say I did download something of some sort on Wednesday and everything is working fine, actually better than usual to be honest. Perhaps Badger got some sort of Trojan windows update that attacked their computer somehow through windows update? That happened to me on my other machine once and it was hard to clean up. Not sure how the Telemetry stuff fits in if that is what happened, but might explain the trouble.

I saw something that said that Microsoft has been rolling out various components of Telemetry since some time in 2016, so for one to two years.And consider this, don't you think that if Microsoft was actually key logging everyone that there'd be a huge back lash and that news organizations large and small would pick up on it? Yet not one single news source I'd consider even halfway reputable mentions anything about it.I have a feeling that this is what President Trump likes to call fake news.

That sounds interesting and might actually help me with the Apps for my Synology server. Especially with the one, that you can use to play audio content. Unfortunately, Talkback doesn't speak the buttons in the player window there.

Hi. I've personally not used oneplus, but I heard they are pretty good. Unlabeled buttons are usually not a problem, because firstly talkback will in the next version introduce a feature to speak button ID for unlabeled buttons, which will  usually give you a pretty good clue on what the button does, and second you can label most of the buttons yourself by opening talkback's local context menu. So if there are just unlabeled buttons, that's not really an issue.
