Hi Mason their is another bug at level 30 after you destroy the fans when you go up the second ladder you drop onto the wall and you can only jump through it to get to the stairs on the right and getting the items on the way.  I just wanted to let you know.

At some point they had to do something about the fact that NVDA is now a true competitor, and may well overtake jaws as the most popular screen reader in the coming years. I don't think they had much choice but to make jaws more affordable. I don't know about other countries, but in the UK, local authorities and organisations like the RNIB will no longer help people to buy jaws because NVDA is free. It has to be really hurting new sales. As one who wants jaws to survive, hopefully this will help keep them afloat. I'll be interested to see how much it is going to cost in the UK. I believe the SMA in the US is $60 a year, but in the UK, it's £100, which is around $130, so more than twice the price. By this reckoning, the annual subscription will be around £150 a year, or 12.50 a month, which is still over-priced in my opinion. If the UK distributors have any sense , they'll keep it under a tenner.

I was totally going to give dark the benefit of the doubt, I figured that he'd end up in here at some point to address the issues brought up. Instead what we got was some UK parliament stile spin (yes, that bad). I'm fully aware that this will probably get me branded as one of the quote unquote folks who would howl for blood and I could honestly give 0 fucks. It's clear that he just wants everything to be swept under the rug now,  the fact he will not venture out of the omg dark noo echo chamber proves this. The community as a whole deserved better than that politician's apology that we got, but I personally won't be expecting anything else.Also, The person who heaped shame on the people in this topic for rightly pushing to stop this entire thing from being swept under the rug has since become a moderator... so I really don't know how to feel about this place any more.

Shocking is what I found this announcement to be. Dark has been a mod ever sense I signed up here if my memory ssurvs me well. I also clearly missed the topic that caused a lot of trouble. Do not know how, but I did. I have an habbit of reading those topics I care about. Personally tend to stay clear of topics that of subjects I strongly disagree with figuring that I would have an easyer time of it if I do so. To me, if I am going to get into a debate with someone, I much rather it be face to face. It is more personal that way.Plus focusing in on stuff that I am interested on here makes time spent here fun. Maybe that should be something that most if not all of us should do to some degree. Pretty sure we all do, but Maybe That is why I basicly missed the lead up to this per say. Only have so much time spent in one day.

drm is horrible. everytime  a video game gets cracked by a scene group it makes me much more happier. They cripple and hijack your hardware performance and mess with a lot of things. Also for other controversial reasons that i do not want to talk about them here. However for an audio game, I don't know how i do  feel about it. The more the game gets sold, the better. makes way for mason to make more games. It's not like he's EA or anything (lol sorry karen if you're reading this)

@24, again though, DRM is too restrictive. DRM is designed to control how you use something, companies routinely abuse the hell out of it to force you to do what they want. Just don't use DRM at all. There's no point, especially since once you fuck up with it, no one will trust you with it ever again.

OK, so I tried the game a few hours ago, and here's my thought on it.Honestly man, I played it, I beat it, and then I just thought, "Well what now?" I got the machine gun and stuff, but beyond that it was just the same levels and stuff over again. I just don't think it has enough content in it to keep me interested for a long period of time. However, I am not saying that people shouldn't play it. In fact, I encourage you guys to get through the game and see what it has to offer. Don't just stop playing because I don't think this game has loads of content in it, because you may feel differently.

Mainstream playable Games:  Non-Fighting?

So, I want to know if there are any games that we can play that are not directly of the fighting genre?  I'm not saying that fighting games are bad.  Hell, I like fighting games sometimes, when I just want to whoop someone's ass and blow off steam, but I really want to play some games that actually have a story, goals to accomplish.  Looking for games that might be playable on PC primarily, as at the moment I do not have a console, but you can list console games as well, since I plan on getting a console in the near future.  Thanks.

I don't care how nonrevolutionary it is, as long as it allows text to be read.  What I wonder is why OCR is as bad as it is, given all of the technology we have.  OCR technically has been around for decades...remember the first Open Book?  I would think with all of the technological improvements over the years, OCR would be better than it is.  There are times when I OCR something, I get nothing but unintelligible shit that just makes no sense at all.  Look at how terribly it reads Steam.  Sometimes the output is just gobbled bullshit.  I'm really surprised.  As for development and EA, the accessibility features started being implemented starting back at Madden 17, so for 2 years now.  I'm not sure how old the API is for TTS.

It just saddens me, because there is talent in this community, and if that talent actually worked together, they could come up with something great.A note on programming:  Yeah, Aaron has programmed in BGT, but if I am not mistaken, he also knows C++.  I wouldn't be surprised if most devs know, or are familiar with, more than one language.  So that might not be as much of an issue as you think.

The problem with DRM is that it is so dependent on things not going wrong.  Internet connections crash; servers die; shit happens, and when something has DRM, it stops functioning when that occurs.  It is my opinion that for that reason, a single developer who is one person, even two or three, should not be using DRM.  The big companies can offer DRM as a reliable means because they have multiple servers, backups upon backups, and entire teams of people dedicated to fixing issues when shit goes wrong.  But when shit goes wrong and you're just one person, it's a lot harder to fix, and in the meantime your customers are just screwed.  No offense intended.  Just my opinion.

I know about them, I was at an accessibility conference awhile ago and actually met Karen in person. But yes, it would've been easier. However, this doesn't limit the accessibility to one or two platforms... and just as background info, the ps4's tts information doesn't have a hook to intercept game text the way narrator does. So no, the game's text couldn't be passed through the tts because it works completely differently from narrator.

Back in the game there was some sort of video game where you as a samurai would face others in duels.The clew here was that you could aim for different body parts to put your oponent at a disadvantage.For example, you could aim for the arm to stop him from attacking, if you would hit the leg he would have trouble moving. You could also aim for the head, if you would hit hard enough, the battle would be over instantly.I think we need something like this, an extended maylay system with actual combinations of attack, defensive maneuvers, counters and such things.Greetings Moritz.

In my opinion, realism is what really lacks in todays audio games. Every audio game I've played let's you shoot and it's either hit or miss. I know that we couldn't just aim with a mouse to shoot special body parts as shooters for sighted people work, but it would be really great to see a audio game in which some new technique is invented to fight more realistically. Exact same with sword fighting games. At the moment, it's either hitting a key and if the enemy is in range, he won't defend himself and get hit or it's one of those "I hear a completely unrealistic taunt from the left so that everyone knows where the enemy is, then I press left and bahm. Don't get me wrong, I like the games I described and I'm aware that it's not easy to come up with a technique that is both new and practical, but something has to be done.

If you're dealing with the same bug I'm dealing with, there is probably no notification window to focus on. For some reason notification windows are still been given a task switcher entry and a taskbar icon even after they've been autoclosed and stuck in the action centre. I have no idea if this is NVDA or a windows update that's caused this, but it is a huge pain and the only way I've been able to fix is rebooting.

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that the Apple Watch can vibrate the time. I'm not sure if you have to have VoiceOver on or not, but if you double tap the screen while the screen is off, the watch will vibrate in a specific pattern. There are two or three different choices. The one I use uses long vibrations for ten hours/minutes, and short vibrations for 1 hour/minute. So if it were 19:42 (7:42 PM), the watch would use 1 long vibration, 9 short vibrations, then 4 long vibrations, and 2 short vibrations, for 19:42. Really useful. So the Watch can be a really useful tool, especially where you might not be able to pull out your phone. (IMO)

My thoughts, as a mod, exactly.Areyen expressed a very similar style to anthony12 in another topic, which does not make me very happy. On the changes to the forum topic, Areyen simply asked us to grow up and to ban at least two other users off the bat, much like anthony12 did to Areyen in this topic.So, for someone claiming to be creating a game, that's not very professional, and honestly gives me pause to think that this might not be over, plus another specific that I do not feel right to voice right now. But I don't want to suddenly act only to find very quickly that I was wrong. So I still say that for all of these, it should be innocent until proven guilty. The other mods are also aware but with everything that's been going on lately I don't know if it got swept up.

Another update, You can now spawn tiles without needing of spawn rooms. Read the map.py file. I think i'm done with this engine and now I'm planning to make a game based on this engine to show people how it tastes. Although i still have a copy of the recent changed engine and if anything is suggested here, I'll update the engine again.

@116 the thing about all these devs is, to my knowledge each one of them prefers a different programming language to write their games in. Aprone uses vb, which is an aging language iirc. Galabo and Yukio both use hsp I think, and galaxy laboratory (creaters of sr) aren't just one person either. Then let's add the fact that the galabo team doesn't really speak english, so it would be hard to work together with those other devs. Back to programming, Aaron Baker from vg storm likes to code in bgt, and if my info is correct, AHC was made in some derivative of C. So that's about four different languages, and then the group would have to come to a consensus about what language to use. Then some people in the group might not know that language, so their out, or they really quickly have to learn it. So unless there was a group of tallented devs that all utalized the same programming language and spoak the same human language, it wouldn't work.
