I like some of these, but a couple of them are nonsense.#2 is busted. If you want to perform a task, it's all in the language and the definition of the task. You can be said to be 1/2 or 1/4 done a given task, based on the language used. Yes, each step, each twitch of a muscle, is arguably its own task, but that's not what's being discussed.#3 is tricky, but also busted. Time does not stop and start in instants. Things are not ever "frozen" completely in time or space. Motion is a general constant, to one degree or another. This is why space and time are considered (by some, at least) dimensions of their own. So if time cannot be stopped, and space is being passed through at a given rate, then this paradox has no sense. The idea of the "snapshot", the instant in time where everything stops, is simply not how time works. Even if you could somehow stop time and freeze the arrow, the very millisecond you started it again, the arrow would conceivably be moving upon its trajectory, and physics would take over.#6 is also busted. As I understand it, if we know one child is a boy, we don't need to know the age of the other child. All we need to guess is whether or not the other child is a boy or a girl. If we find that the chances of having a child of a given gender are essentially equal, and independent of one another (i.e., you are not more predisposed to female children after having a male), then the first child is irrelevant, completely and utterly irrelevant. If you wanted to talk about the chances of having a particular combination of children, then yes, your chances are 1/4, and then 1/3. But all we want to talk about are the odds of having a boy or a girl. This is an independent variable, so the chance is 1/2.

I wasn't counting the entombed quests because those were specially generated fights which you pretty much were inevitably going to run into at some point anyway. Oh they're great fun no doubt and give some nice extras, and I always love it when games mix things up with random content and things to find, however in this case I sort of thought Dardar was talking more about quests with at least a baseline story and more than one objective. Likewise, I am not certain if you count, say the multiple steps needed to complete a mission in a game like Gma tank commander as quests, though they could be given the amount of obstacles to go through and such.

I can actually give one example of quests in a hero's call actually, or entombed. It doesn't tell you the quest object is there. You just know it when you get to that object. Not many audiogames use item indicator for quests.

Greetings all.@Jayde, have no fear regarding Lisa's real name or where she lives. I've spoken with her regarding this and she has given her full approval for me writing and speaking the way I do. The information provided is public and can be found easily if searched for. I've also requested permission from Victoria and permission has been granted. They can and may well read what I write about them because I've given them the address of this forum and they have been told of and have read all that I've written about them even before this topic. In other words, I did not do this without first asking whether or not it was okay to post this. Secondly, I know I have much to improve on, in particular regarding how I write. I'm far more used to writing in a more spiritual manor and I don't like writing this way. As for my diosa and I, we are still going strong after a year and it will only get better the longer that we're together. I'm not the only one who thinks and believes that love is infinite in every way. Unfortunately, for those who haven't experienced this, they will not believe that such is possible. However, we who number in the zillions hope that some day, everyone in this and countless other worlds can appreciate that this is not a mer fairytale, anyone can be a dios or diosa if they put down the sword and simply love.  Thirdly, I do genuinely believe that hurstseth405 was only telling us that he wouldn't get tattoos himself due to him not liking the idea of doing anything to his own body. I do not believe for a moment that he in any way expressed or implied that he looks down on anyone who would so do. Neither do I believe that asking about someone else's tattoos is rounds for punishment and ridicule. Simply saying 'it isn't for me' when asked, 'how about you, re you interested in getting one?' doesn't mean that he looked down on the questioner.

@great carver thumbs up, you've said pretty much what I would've done in this situation, though sadly I have run into rather a larger number of self entitled, self obsessed and down right vile girls in my time, who might not have considered themselves princesses, but certainly believed that they were blaimless of all wrong doing, and everyone else should pander to them just because they were female. However as I've said before, all generalisations are wrong, this however is another reason I advocate moving away from all the traditional dating stuff and looking at making female friends, since its blatantly obvious that the more likely someone is to be your friend, the less likely they are to be a scumbag. It's all relative. The alliances are pretty balanced. Fringe is pretty active now yes, and they do have a lot of guns. League is also very active, and they are probably the most balanced in terms of ship tech, and second best at exploration. AEU is the hardest to play because of roleplay history that is taking forever to resolve, and Mutuality... well, they are application only, and it always seems like everything really interesting that happens happens when they are heavily involved, so take that as you will, but essentially, League, Fringe, or AEU are the choices, and me personally, I would prefer League or Fringe.

Because you're loading the topic before it even gets started. If someone asks you why you don't have any tattoos, or asks you what you think about tattoos, and you personally feel they're not for you? Then okay, let 'er rip. But if you're talking about someone else's tattoo, your opinion doesn't really matter. Who are you to disapprove of their tattoo, especially in a social scenario where you are presumably trying to share dialogue? Dear god. I hate to say it, but the sheer social ineptitude of this line of thought astounds me.

@dark, the numbers that NVDA detects when you want to install the game is the disc space required for the game to be downloaded to your system and steam needs to allocate it. to check the progress of the download, you can do it via the system tray that says steam and then NVDA will say downloading, your connection speed, and the percentage.

Interesting question, especially for someone like me who is a big fan of quests. I think  in an audiogame, an actual quest needs roughly the same things as a quest in a mud, that is a journey, obstacles that are interesting to avoid and an interesting story. it doesn't matter if your  quest object is shown by an audio beacon, if there's an interesting way of finding that object, if you need to traverse a maze or look around a big area to find it, then the essential mechanics of the quest are still there anyway.Look at some of thee swamp quests, especially those with multiple components requiring you to visit multiple locations. Yes,these are essentially item fetching quests, however you firstly have to traverse the zombie wilderness, secondly need to go into a building which is a maze like area often populated by zombies which require close quarter combat, and then find your object. Many of the quests have background and an objective, and many even  open up new areas of the game such as new maps or new weapons, as well as giving you a view of the world.The same is true in Bk3, despite it being a side scroller, and probably in tomb hunter as well. Obviously, the sorts of obstacles and challenges will be different, EG if your traversing an audio maze and fighting in real time rather than typing text directions or making choices in a text game and fighting in turn based combat, but but many of the challenges are similar. You don't even have to stick with combat or even combat games. I love it when strategy games give me a mission to complete with story and objectives attached, indeed I'm really looking forward to the upcoming galactic colonies game just for this reason. hth.

Steam is still a pain in the arse!

I'm still having all the troubles with steam I mentioend in the previous toppic, however since I've got sequence storm working very well, I thought I'd try buying a blind legend, as I think I'd prefer pc controls to the Ios swiping, however the download is being bloody stupid. I used the link to download from website and got the "steam bootstrapper" window with lots of numbers, 409 megabites, 60.302 , and something about 2 mbs (at least unlike most of the text on this shitty client that window displays consistently).I recall in Pitermach's guide it states that games take a while to download, and given the time factor I left the thing running  for a good solid five hours (intended to be over night bbut I didn't sleep that long). I restarted my computer, because I could not find the text saying "A blind legend" on the main steam client window on the desktop even using ocr, and there were no files for the game in the steam common folder where Sequence storm is. However, I restart my computer, I finally find the game name a blind legend to click on (actually I could only read the end of the word legend). And that say download bootstrapper window opens. So apparently despite being run for five sodding hours, the game hasnt' downloaded! As I said I know why this thing is called steam! because it makes people blow their tops, however I would like to actually play the game. Is there a way of checking download progress? or better still a way of actually downloading the game properly, hell if I could've just downloaded a standard setup I'd have been playing the game in roughly thirty seconds.Is there some  confirmation button I need to hit that it was waiting for? I didn't think so once I'd hit the download link from the website, but I might be wrong, as I said Valve's total unconcern for screen reader compatibility is shown by how inconsistent the client's display is. Still since unfortunately a lot of developers are using this shitty syste (god knows why), I'd like to be at least able to download and play games with it. I thought I'd worked things out after I got sequence storm working, but as I said, steam is a bastard!Edit: okay I have discovered something, if I leave the Steam desktop window open in the background behind that bootstrap thing, if I click on "A blind legend" the bootstrap window refreshes, and that sign saying 60/302 mb changes to smaller values such as 60/250 mb. I am not sure if this refers to download speed or progress, though I am guessing the game is not actually 600 tb in size, though the speed does not seem commensurate with 250 mbs, or the other 2.13 ss which shows further down the page, assuming , 409 Mb was the file size. I wonder if this was a simple problem of needing to keep the desktop window open as well as the bootstrap window, though if so this seems a little strange for a client that can't even be shut down. At least though something is obviously happening, so hopefully the game will download eventually!

a 2D array is the best your going to get. Just check each square as the player navigates, and use NumPy (don't use lists of lists, vectors of vectors, etc.) or the equivalent for your language of choice. Since you're accessing them directly by index your most likely going to get O(1) performance, or extremely close to it.I'm telling you not to use lists of lists/vectors of vectors/... because those will create massive levels of indirection and tons of cache misses, and they're not built for that. Use a dedicated library that is able to represent a 2D vector properly without all the problems. You could make your own 2D vector class, too, though you then need to figure out if you want row-major order or column-major order. C, for example, uses row-major order. If you want to use row-major order, then create the list and resize it to map width * map height, then access it as map width * row + column in the index operator function.

I just wish entombed 2 was worked on and done already, to see what kind of evil would be at the end of the game, lol.You know one kind of evil I kinda like and lol at? If you play lost til the end of the game lol. Like he's nothing but a typical kind of evil but he's kinda ridiculously hilarious.There're a few games I actually need to complete to be able to voice more opinions on the kind of evil we lack in our community. But heck, if only I knew how to make games like that on my own, I would try my best not to disappoint you with stories, lol. You know what I wish to see more in our community? The very deep kind of evil in horror genre that aren't the type to release typical zombies and vampires and everything all over the place just so they can destroy the world or take over it. Not that I have anything against them. Roy Curien in house of the dead is one. Hades in the gate is one. It's especially popular in videogames, and can of course be carried over to audiogames. And since we don't have many horror or mystery genres, which is honestly sad, I don't want to see more of them the typical fps killing zombies all over the map kind. You know what we have the most? Fps. Everyone develops that. I don't have anything against these games but man, for once, can I play something with reasons and feelings without having to think of the score board or be the best playerkiller? And, for hell's sake, Mason's tombhunter could have been more fun if it made more sense and had more stories than those 5 lines before the game starts. Anyone can develop 250 levels with whatever challenge they want to throw in. Oh yeah I'm gonna make levels after levels like that. But do you ever think of something that makes sense out of those challenges you threw in? So this whoever guy went to explore the tomb, but then he emerged seomewhere else with robots and stuff, probably a robot factory, but still thought he was in the tomb because he didn't remember that he was taken there. Turns out, the tomb was a trap. The urge he got to explore that tomb was actually induced by a feeling manipulation machine in order to lure him to the tomb to be captured, tested and turned into a next generation of computerized robot in expense of his own mind. Whatever, I just tried to come up with bs to make sense out of that game.

Greetings all.I do agree with Munawar when it comes to the majority of romantic relationships; most are simply not worth while. However, if you do meet your intended, the one you're destined to be with for all of eternity, it truly is worth while. I met Lisa Hudson on vorail in June of last year but I was still suffering from being separated from Victoria who couldn't be with me although she did love me. Victoria's love for me was, although strong, it was... how should I put it... typical? That means that it was at the expected level to be called love but she wasn't in love with me to the extent that I was with her. To cut a very long story short, my love for Victoria was infinite but one sided meaning, I gave my all and it was too much for her. We had known one another for 6 years prior to this event. In any case, we just didn't work out and never would. Lisa Hudson fell for me right there and then but I was drowning in pain and sorrow; although I was friendly, respectful and loving toward Lisa, I was too focused on fulfilling the promise I made to Victoria; I was waiting until such time that we could be together and I was prepared to wait for all of eternity if need be. For 2 months, we struggled Lisa and I because she was trying not to frighten me off and I was still drowning. It all came to  head on August 16th when Lisa cried to me telling me that she was being treated badly by people who were supposed to be her friends and even one who she thought loved her. I could no longer drown in my sorrow and I had to acknowledge my growing feelings for Lisa who I'd only known for 2 months at that time. Jehovah pushed me into me breaking my promise to Victoria and a good thing to because Victoria wanted me to not be in love with her. I admitted my feelings to Lisa and on the 17th we were together. After 7 days, Victoria gave the both of us her blessing and I was free to love my Diosa Lisa fully, completely, with all that I am and infinitely more.What does diosa mean? The literal translation from Espaniol means goddess but I use it to mean friend and infinitely more, best friend and infinitely more, girlfriend and infinitely more, lover and infinitely more, intended and infinitely more, wife and infinitely more, all that can be applied and infinitely more. I know I've left out a lot and there are huge gaps in my narrative because it would take too long to explain it all. Indeed, this post makes it sound like I just rushed into it; that is not the case. Yes we did take the time to get to know one another as people and we both mutually agreed that this is the course of action that we wanted to take. I cannot of course prove this because my Diosa Lisa wife isn't out here to back me up. Why do I call her wife? We're married in every sense of the word except legally. Hopefully by next year, I'll be able to visit her in Shelton Washington and we can get things done legally over there, then come back over here to do things legally over here in London. Although neither of us care about the legalities, we do it so that we can be recognised as husband and wife.My Diosa does have a few conservative values and she has explained them to me. So what makes my relationship so different to what I've sen around me? We communicate and we always ask for clarification if we do not comprehend the other's point of view. Not only that but we tell one another everything, even things that make us feel afraid; our deepest darkest secrets, fears, hopes and dreams and we always make it a point to never take the other for granted. Can I honestly say that we love one another with all that we are and infinitely more? Absolutely. We've even talked about our past relationships and even other people who we love dearly. I even make it a point to give her infinite freedom to do as she will without fear of me ever turning against her and my promise to her has been tested. Needless to say, my Diosa will not leave me nor me her.So why am I writing about this here? I think hurstseth405 also wants a deep meaningful romantic relationship that will last for all of eternity and I'm very sorry that he had to go through what he went through with that woman. No I don't believe that hurstseth405 was being in any way malicious or dishonest and neither do I believe that he was trying to be insulting or demeaning. I admit to having a problem with articulation and sometimes, what I say and write may come out wrong. I think hurstseth405 was right in saying that his views are conservative and I believe that he was only enquiring about the woman's tattoos; I don't believe he was trying to be insulting. Should he be punished simply for asking what a particular tattoo means and stating that although he wouldn't get tattoos himself but he can respect her freedom of choice

Hi allSo after a couple weeks of coding, fixing bugs and asking for help, my first project, TGHub is here.This program, or game, is, as the name suggests, a hub of games and utilities in one executable. @Ethin No problem.@Chris: UEFI is entirely controlled by keyboard actually, so that's already taken care of. It's just the speech that's going to be hard. Especially when there's no serial port equivalent that is simply analog, i.e usb is not one of those, so having a hardware synth option isn't a good solution notwithstanding the act hardly anyone still has those (I still have my Dectalk Express) but with soundcards no longer having built-in speech processors, we now have to get a speech system to compile and run under UEFI.@Ethin: Somewhat related to this is a fellow that I know on blind-bst with a talking preboot environment that he uses for his custom build machines. I can ask him if he'd be willing to make contributions.

helloso i created a small application that i compiled into an exe file with pyinstaller. I had a couple of people test it and for some people it didn't work, but if the people were running python 3 on their system it did work, so my question. Is there a way to compile an exe with pyinstaller and let people use this application without having python 3 installed on the application user's system?thanks and have a good day

So I think braille should be taught, but not imposed on a person. Braille would be very essential in studying subjects like math phonetics, with alot of special symbols. But for me, it is like a bottleneck in many other contexts. With eloquence I can use it at 87%,  and blow through texts at a rate comparable to a sighted person. But with braille, I am nowhere near that speed, and using braille then is like using dialup internet in place of  pure fiber imho.I did have negative experiences with braille. In our school, the teacher and students were extremely jellous that I got myself a perkins brailler, and tried everything possible to take it away from me. In sixth grade, in my third blind school, someone complained to the counceling service,  and they banned me from using it  because of the noise, even though I was using the pad underneeth it. They forced me to use a slate, which made my grades suffer horribly, and caused me to not be able to keep up, as I am not as fast at a slate and didn't have similar experience to my classmates. I did however use it in highschool to take notes. On hind site,  using a laptop and audio notes would've been faster.On the braille literacy argument, many people seem to believe that the disadvantage of audio is that you don't know how to spell words. This is however only true in non-orthographic languages like in English. In orthographic languages like Turkish, which is spelled exactly how it is said, if you hear a word, you can spell it.Finally, on the capitlization of braille, I don't think it should be. Prınt, which is a code isn't capatilized, so braille shouldn't iether. And Jade, you state that  it would make sense to capitalize based on it being named after it's founder. However, actually, things named after their founder generally aren't capitalized. For example,  diseases, which usually bare the names of their foundders, aren't capitalized.

Hi all,I know this might be really weird, and I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get very helpful responses. I'm having issues properly displaying images on my website. The website is written using HTML code, and I used the  tag to display the image files.According to my family, the pictures were initially sideways and way too large. We fixed the rotation issue by taking the pictures in landscape, but I can't figure out the size issue. I've read that you can specify the width and height when writing the HTML tag, but I don't know how to obtain this information from the jpg files. Do I simply need to specify the correct width and height values to properly display the image? How do I obtain this information? I don't really have anyone around me to ask for assistance, because I'm the most tech-savvy of my few friends or family. Any tips are appreciated.

@4, in order:1) Probably yes. Updating existing machines would require a firmware update, and updating firmware is a nontrivial (and unsafe) task. It is also unlikely that this would be standardized in UEFI 2.9 or 3.0. 2.9 is definitely unlikely, 3.0 is possible but still unlikely (it depends on how fast things go).2) ESpeak would be hard to port to that environment. The major hurtle is getting it to compile under non-VS 2005/2008 environments, which is what its windows binary targets. The UEFI specification requires that UEFI applications/drivers use the PE executable format, but we'd need an up-to-date VS implementation to build for it (VS 2017 and beyond is required, I think). I don't think VS2015 supports UEFI.3) Yes, every firmware implementation is unique to the machine/manufacturer. One manufacturer may have a master implementation that they use as a "generic" implementation, however they would need to modify that implementation whenever they make a new motherboard.@jack, thanks for submitting that to MS -- I have no idea who to go to on an issue like this, but getting them on board and making their bootloader accessible would be a massive leap forward. If we have to, then we'll take one component at a time.

Even if sound couldn't be heard from the built-in card, it should be possible to connect a USB headset or other audio device and get audio. It seems like perhaps the users who are getting crashes are just running out of memory, but that is only a guess.  They all have had 4 gigabytes of ram.  The game uses about 500 megabytes of ram.  I'm curious how much memory your computer has free normally if you have 4 gigabytes of ram?

What if Caroline from A Blind Legend, actually orchestrated her own capture because she was tired of Edward Blake's shit for what ever reason and wanted to be queen.Then she could either come in and save the king right before he dies, or when the king was defeated she could come in for an embrace, and pull a hidden stiletto to kill Blake.The game would end with either her throwing her daughter out on the street/into a home for children, or imprisoning her and trying to convince her to accept her new father.  Both of which could make for good sequels if you played as the daughter in order to escape and take revenge.Or how about in treasure hunt, when you win you get killed by a bombing raid or an assassin as you exit the building, and it's revealed that Munawar's radio contact was actually just trying to get rid of him at the request of the organization he works for because of something he knows that he shouldn't, and while the mission was real, it was a double cross where they colluded with Brutas and told him to expect Munawar, but then dropped Munawar off in the wrong location and with better weapons so that they could take care of both problems at once by pitting them against each other, but were ready to step in and finish who ever survived if necessary.Or what if at the end of Super Liam, jsut before he's about to kill X1, it's explained that X1 was created by DR. Quark for the military and exiled to another dimension when he could not be controlled.  He hates Super Liam because he is a pawn of DR. Quark hence why he has treated him this way, but all he really wants is autonomy, so he offers to give Super Liam cybernetic enhancements and a spot as the admiral of his space ship fleet if he will betray Quark and destroy the teleporter that allowed him to get here so that no one else can try to attack X1.What if at the end of Shades of Doom, it's revealed that it was all just a test that was run on others as well, to see if you would be a good candidate for mutation into a super soldier for the federation mentioned at the start of the game.This could lead into a sequel where you break from their control before the process is complete and must fight them directly to escape and get answers about your new powers and how to regain your humanity.This is pretty fun!

Yes. Take the star conquest folder in the sounds pack of the pack's own directory, and paste it into your vipmud sounds folder. Then take everything else and paste it into the folder for the actual SC session.

I think it's especially important for people in a given position to be willing to disagree with the party line, even vocally, and not just to swallow what they're told.In other words, my sympathies if you actually get attacked for stuff you don't believe just because you're on the right somewhere.

TGHub, my first real game.

Hi allSo after a couple weeks of coding, fixing bugs and asking for help, my first project, TGHub is here.This program, or game, is, as the name suggests, a hub of games and utilities in one executable.
