@dark: Yeah, sequence storm OST is an item in your library so this is how you launched a player by hitting on it enter.Your window looks as it should. Sadly if there games in your library you will see a mess, as there mixed stuff like games here and there when browsing with browse cursor. ALso there are some achievements / other things. How I am working with it? Just using my arrow keys and letter to find the game I want to play (if needed as everything is on my desktop and Steam is making shortcuts automatically) and using the steam window just to install games I've bought or didn't play for some time and wants to get back to something.

Hey, Karren.Something that would be most helpful with this game and Madden is something that I have been suggesting for the last few years. Radio commentary.There needs to be an option that you can pick in accessibility call broadcast. You can have tv broadcast if you are low vision.Radio broadcast if you are totally blind. Then when you play the game you can know what is actually going on in the game. Also this will cut out outside junk.

Karen to answer a few of your questions , players can set the tactics and formations on the the start-up lobby screen just before they kick off and whenever they pause the game also at halftime. the only way to know your opponent's formation is to have vision to see the photo diagram of their players on the pitch. the only actual lines on a football pitch are at the  6 yard line box the 18 yard box the halfway line and a reverse for the opponent's half of the field, these are lines inside a big rectangle where players run from left to right and vice versa. Just like basketball players run outside of the big rectangle lines they will be out of bounds and will lose possession of the ball. it would be cool if the commentators announced the formation of the teams when he is introducing who is playing who in the match, example like Liverpool are playing a 4. 5. 1. Formation and the opponent's Barcelona shaped up in a 4. 3. 3. Formation. And if someone decides to change their formation the commentator could let us know by saying, Barcelona have chose to change their shape by playing a 4. 4. 2. Diamond formation when the game resumes.

Thanks again for the good wishes. Unfortunately at the moment its a case of yet more waiting to see how bad the situation is and whether anything can be done about it, needless to say we're both extremely freaked.@mastodont finished a masters and working out what to do but stopped by people's prejudices? Welcome to my world . Well Steam finally decided to behave and I@m playing a blind legend, which is pretty  much just what I wanted at the second, a nice easy romp through a fantasy kingdom. I'll probably post more thoughts when I finish the game. In the mean time I've been furiously writing book reviews  doing some of the old Dr. Who bbv stories, these were what was done before big finish, and are very much like early bf, experimental and weird, albeit since they couldn't use the dr. who name they often have to fudge characters rather a lot, in some cases just writing the doctor under another name, in others writing characters who are sort of similar, actually I really like Colin Baker as the stranger, a transe temporal terrorist who had his memories removed.

@Jack, one of the problems I have with the client, is I see absolutely nothing in the steam window whether I use screen review or ocr. I always see Darkthetenor (my steam username), at the top, a couple of random numbers, then the names of games, under that are some bits of text as though things are being cut off, though these persist no matter what the window is doing.sometimes I see  things that look like achievements such as "novice racer" (when I just tried your instructions I saw something called the mother),  however I see no headings for things like achievements, games etc, and as I said clicking on game names this way can be pretty bloody random in terms of what it activates. I've tried  left and right mouse clicks, I've tried going into the window through the taskbar, I've tried routing NVdA to mouse, but this always happens. I thought at first I was not activating things at all, then I used my vision and though I can't see what the hell is going on, the window apparently does change when I try to click stuff.I am using NvdA 19.2 and the latest version of Windows ten, and my screen resolution is normal, so god knows what the hell is going on.Btw, I do notice that if I hit alt enter on the steam window, a fullscreen window opens with something like a graphical game menu which makes noises when I click around. This would theoretically be more usable for me since I can see the menu highlighting and click sounds to navigate, however I have no idea what this menu shows, since where as I said on the default window that comes up with the desktop shortcut (presumably the textual version of the client I got by using the note write command), NvdA can at least read the main heading and game names, on the graphical menu screen review does nothing, and OCr just reads steam and what I presume is the version number.I wouldn't mind the issues too much though if I can install the games. I thought I'd got the process working after installing Sequence storm, but given all the merry hell I've had with a blind legend, I'm not sure, and I confess that at the moment unless Steam was the only way of playing a given game, it would be my absolute last choice as a platform, not the leasst because frankly I would rather not support Valve at this point and still hope they get painful bowel diseases, or at least fix their bloody accessibility .

You are running a legitimate operating system within your operating system. Modern hardware has a hardware virtualization engine so this is no hacked together emulator. So you will be running a fresh copy of whatever operating system you install. So the screen reader of the system is whatever is installed into the virtual machine's hard disk.

1. Is your NVDA running on the latest stable release, that being 2019.2? And how about your Windows 10 revision? Not sure if that has any effect on Steam, but it's always worth checking.2. If you end up not getting a desktop shortcut during installation, here is a workaround (it's a hack that shouldn't have to be done, but it's the best way I have figured out).1. Initiate NVDA OCR. Arrow to he desired game, and then nvda+shift+m to focus the mouse cursor on it.2. Escape out of ocr review. Then use your right click NVDA command.3. OCR again. This time, you're in the menu of options. The first one being play game, so call this item one. Arrow down and note the item number for create desktop shortcut. And hit escape.4. If, for instance, create desktop shortcut was item 10 in the menu, you would down arrow ten times, because for some reason the cursor isn't immediately placed on the play game item till you down arrow once.5. Hit enter. Then enter again after you get the dialog that your desktop shortcut has been created.6. You're all set. This is by no means ideal, but it is the best we got until Valve updates the rest of the interface to the new, more accessible web wrapper. If you have accidentally made it into the Steam chat windows or embedded Steam store through the client, you would have seen webpage like interfaces that are navigable via the screenreader's web commands. But for some reason Valve still! has not updated the library/launcher yet to use this modern engine.

Here is where it differs there are part-time players that just want to simulate again like they're playing by pressing one or two buttons and there are those that want to play a actual game of football with full control of the players. And I actually want to play a game of football,  I have got fellow blind gamers to download and play games of football with me and the most problems we come across is knowing who has possession and what part of field they or I are on. example if you receive the ball with a striker and feel the vibration that you have the ball and the commentator says the name you would automatically assume you are near goal and shoot. when in fact you are at the 50 yard line because your striker ran back to help gain possession. Here where my suggestion of knowing tactics and formation comes in as if I know my opposition is playing a 4. 3. 3 I know I can exploit this space in between their fullbacks & wing forwards, and if I received the ball at midfield and have set the tactic of quick counter I know my forward line will be moving forward when I pass the ball to them creating space, or if I am playing possession game my players will stay near me in a radius of 5 or 10 yards to give me a outlet to pass to. or if I'm trying to defend a opponent that is playing quick counter, I know they will be doing long braking passes and running at my defence at blistering pace.So I will have to jockey backwards to give myself a chance to dispossess them or crowd them out. I know radio style commentators will  be used buy more than just visually impaired players as a lot of people would prefer the simple basic announcement of players. And would be a good alternative to broadcasters commentary.

To answer the comments, yes I'm using NVdA, however the window is simply not reading correctly. In the end I sat down and used my vision.  to check when the window is changing. It seems that while the window changes, NvdA is not recognising even with OCR that changes take place, I always get the same client window with my name at the top, and the list of games then random little text. A blind legend does seem to have downloaded this time and I ran the game which is a very good thing, however the fact that NVdA is not interacting with the window text correctly is very worrying. I still maintain Steam's design is to blame, since as I said previously, inconsistency with function is one of the sure fire indicators of badly designed accessibility, neither from what I have noticed is steam going to be "A peace of cake" any time soon (I twice had to restart my computer because I accidentally played the sequence storm soundtrack in the steam window and could not stop it. While I'm pleased I can actually now play the game I bought and have created a nice friendly start menu shortcut to do so, I am going to be dreading installing my next game or having to interact more with this shitty client, neither would I recommend it to anyone. I also wonder, how many people simply refused to put up with this crap, since were I less bloody minded I likely would not have bothered at all. Any constructive thoughts on why the window is simply not reading the way Pitermach states it does would be welcome.

No. You must install NVDA into the VM (Your existing copy of NVDA will not be able to interface with the vm) However, NVDA is able to interact with the software VMWare Player used to run the VM, and windows comes with Narrator.

Karen.The announcers do not say anything about the formations, mainly because there are so many of them. To know your formation, you have to go to the team manager and go to the second tab, and read the screen where it says, current formation.Regarding your second point.The cue should not be triggered when the lines are crossed, because when the ball goes out of those lines, (which is called the touchline) then you have lost the ball and the ball is for the other team. so the cues should be warning you that hey, you're nearing the left liine, or right line, or the opponent's line.

I now realize how little I know about soccer technical terms. I'll probably have more detailed follow up questions after a bit of research, but odds are I'll track down a FIFA designer on Monday, show him the thread, and ask for his thoughts. My simplified summary is1. Split audio channels2. Add cues for crossing notable real or imaginary lines on the field3. Narrate pop-up icons that provide input guidance (I think this solves some of the gaps mentioned)4. Hi. I played through the demo, and it's a real improvement over the first beta demo. I especially liked the knight and raider tutorials on hard mode; to me, that is what a good game should be, both challenging and fun. Both of them force you to think, even if you have to die multiple times till you get the hang of things. I wouldn't mind at all seeing this kind of combat in the final game.As for the look versus listen thing ... I'm in the camp of blind people who finds it, not offensive, but just plain awkward when people feel it necessary to correct their speech about such things around me. And, as I'm sure many of us do, I tell those people to just use plain everyday English when referring to such things as look and see. Most people take the hint. The few that don't generally aren't worth worrying about. I would suggest either that those awkward bits of dialogue be taken out or, more useful in my opinion, have Alex correct shepherd on it. If this game is going to end up in the hands of sighted players as well as blind players, it would be a way to educate at least a few people on one aspect of the outlook of the blind on such issues.

you can get a good nokia android phone with android 9 pie with update to android 10 for around $150 or so. The xiaomi phones such as xiaomi mi a2 and mi a3 are also very good phones that get the latest android updates.

Well, I don't think that a file containing the traceback info would be verry helpfull in displaying in a message box.With my method, one can collect the info to store it in a variable, as well as redirecting stderr to a real file object.@1: Now that some solutions are here, I recommand to peak one and start coding.I wish you the best of luck with your project and, if this is what you are building, hope that this comunity will enjoy a new python audiogame soon.

Yes it is possible but need VAC. No repeater is necessary for this but two instances of tt are, set one up as a streaming instance and connect to the server, have the output set to line 1 vac. Then in reaper, the output to line 1. Also you can set up a live listen which is not hampered by server latency, but you will want to unsub from yourself via the first instance so you don't hear yourself twice. mmsys.cpl in the run dialog, then control tab to the recording tab, find the line 1 device then tab to properties. Go to the listen tab and check that device and then make sure its going where you want it to in the combo box below that and then hit OK. Now anything that's routed through line 1 gets patched back through speakers.To make reaper output, the track need to be armed and the monitor needs to be on.

Or they should make pb opensource and release it under the gpl. it would be better this way for pb, the company doesn't put much interest in it, so it slowly follows on the path of au3, shame for this to happen to such a project.This way, if we would make use of a pb dll in my project, we would just have to make that project opensorce.

Putting live effects on a microphone?

Hi.So I've been curious about this for a while now. It'd be cool to be able to do this on TT or whatever. I've herd there is a way to do this with reaper and a sertan plugin which I now have which allows you to change the pitch of things and also allows you to do things with reverb and auto tune, but haven't really been able to test it. The plugin, in case you were wondering, is called kerovee. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest loss will be the database, and updating all the links that point here so that sighted devs and new gamers can actually find the alternative forum that will let them be a part of the community will be hard too.  This isn't just a site, it's a hub and a gateway.At least the web master's still pay for the server, I guess...  But yeah, it's only a matter of time.If only we could transfer it to another server and fund it with donations so that we could keep the domain, but they apparently can't even be contacted for that much, and we'd need reliable replacement web devs.

Hi,well, perhaps a small idea regarding @14's idea regarding audio cues on the 25 yards. Since fifa is viewed from the side, so your players run from left to right or vice versa, or, at least, this was 11 years ago, i asume it is still this way. But instead of audio cues, why don't use the vibration possibilities from a controller? I know that a xbox one controller does have two halfs, and when you play on the left side, and the ball passes the 25 yard line there, that the left half vibrates, when the ball passes the 50 yard, the center, that both halfs vibrate, and when the ball passes the right 25 yard line, that the right half vibrates? That would free up audio space when a controller is connected. I know that this idea takes a controller in mind, but when no controller is connected to a pc, that in that case small audio cues will be played. As soon as a controller gets connected, the audio cues will be replaced by the vibrational feedback of the controller.Just a small idea which got into my mind It would be awsome when fifa will be playable, i honestly do like madden 20, and i really should put more time into it, and i really have to dive into ufc 3, but i have said it a few times already, but ea is doing a very good job with this, keep up the good work! No Android 4.4.2 support I don't think. You really ought to get a new phone if you are actually running that full-time, as a lot of apps are pulling support for it. Even the Braillenote Touch moved up to Android Oreo. So I would not recommend holding onto that.

Unless you're going for an advanced interface, most are accessible right out of the box. Half the time, the software is also not mandatory if it comes with any. I know a few people who use scarlet interfaces accessibly, diddo for steinberg.

@pitermach you're right that  the commentators assume that you can see the screen, mainly because these days there are a bunch of powerful great cameras setup all over the field and the viewer has clear vision on what is exactly going on compared to before. but another reason for that is because football is huge, like really really huge so there's so much to talk about it. players, managers, tactics. something might happen in 10 seconds that you can talk about it for 20 minutes.In regards to fifa's commentary however, I think that we should be realistic here and expect them to put an option for us to increase the frequency which the  commentator announces the player in position of the ball. this requires them no new contracts with the commentators or new speech lines, but just some programming tweaks, etc.@sirpdex you bring some good points, a few  things to consider here. when defending, you can set your game to legacy defending mode in which you can press and hold down the pass key where your controlled player can automatically try and intercept the ball. if  you had tactical defending on, or the game gave you feedback that you are near to the ball, it still would be hard to steal the ball away because you have to react with your arrow keys relative to the position of the ball. and if you just went ahead and tackle, if your positioning is right, it could ven end up a 50 50.however. if you're attacking and if Fifa  adds  a feedback indicating that your opponent is in front of you, you have a few options that you can  take. you can remember a bunch of skill moves that you can pull off, you can pass the ball backward, or you can risk it and pass to the sides.I agree with your idea about the feedback regarding pitch length, but i still think the  touchline feedback, aka imaginary lines that  karen also mentioned  is very important. right now, you can guess how close you are to opponent's goal from fan's screaming and from the commentator's speeches, but  you have absolutely nothing that could tell you how close you are to the touchlines.I'd be happy if they add all of this  in a bunch of audio feedback in, but  there is also the thing with overloading amount of info. We just have to see that how far the development team of Fifa would like to go far  to implement  accessibility options for us. They have project managers and designers they even could come up with ideas that we haven't thought of to give us a good idea of where the ball is in the field.

"Start smaller!" the code you have just posted illustrates that you haven't even tried to follow my advice and read through the class tutorial carefully. For example, did you know that your code is declaring the same variables over and over again? In addition to that, you have 2 main functions. I don't remember if BGT allows functions to be overwritten, but if it does, your admin check will never happen because your second main proceeds your first one. If the override is block, which is more likely, you will get an error.Start by reading through sections 9 and 10 in the BGT tutorial, don't worry if you don't understand inheritence, but please, please, please actually make sure you understand the examples it provides. Right now you don't. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying that you need to start a lot smaller if you don't want to eventually just give up.

Like for instance, i want to make a power up called the kayoken shendokai wave! That does a maximum of 500 damage, and a range of 15. Another class? And how do i assign the attacks to the character/enemy? Like how Ken and Ryou from Street Fighters both do the hadooken, and shayoken. How do i do that? And if you guys give me names for attacks and record yourself saying them an an battle voice, that would be nice. I want it to have a simular concept as street fighter 4. I am Trinidadian, and i can't do a proper Canadian accent, and dispite Americans thinking they can do 1, they can't. Canadians don't say aboot. They say it differently. And i can do a russian accent, but mybe not a proper 1. And don't even ask me about a german 1. I am in a class with a bunch of indians, so i got that covered, although, it would be funny for me to voice all the characters. So your help would be really appreciated. Fair enough. To be fair, I wasn't sure how far that license extended, and I didn't exactly wrap the functions. However, I did prepare a version that didn't include them, just in case shit id hit the fan. I myself don't consider it a wrapper, but if the pure basic people do consider it a wrapper, then well I suppose I'll have to remove them.
