Re: SpaceX Starlink-6 Launch: April 22nd

As reported by [arstechnica]:SpaceX are going to launch another batch of satelites for their Starlink Constellation from Kennedy Space Center, on a Falcon 9 thats previously flown 3 times. The launch is scheduled for 3:37pm ET, with a backup window on April 23rd at 3:15pm ET, the first stage will also be attempting a landing on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.You can watch the live webcast [here], which starts in 11 hours as of this post.In other news, NASA has put out a tentative date for the inaugural [Crew Dragon Launch] that will carry astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the International Space Station, which is set for May 27th, following a few final parashute tests and an investigation of an engine failure on the last Falcon 9 Launch. While this could easily slip, There seems a good chance the launch will happen either in late May or June. So mark your calenders and stock up on popcorn folks.

Re: High Speed Sonifier

No documentation, unless you count the conceptual work found [here] with the source. Unpacking it wasn't too bad, besides a few little syntax approximations and getting the output into a workable format. Numba also sounds interesting, but yeah if there's no effective way to distribute it reliably then it seems more academic, unless theres a way to pack the necessary components with it.One of the other things I did was draw solid colored tetures to the frame buffer, then extract both the frame and depth buffer and use the color coded frame image as a stencil maskof the depthmap for object isolation, an example of thats [here]. A better way of handling that with inline computations may be making better use of the OpenGL stencil buffer in memory.On a side note, BrushTone comes with a small 32 by 32 animated gif of a red bouncing ball that runs at 12 fps. I made an audio recording with the sonifier running at 11 fps, 21 fps, and 43 fps, because apparently either my way of guaging frames per second is wonky, or my control of the sonifier rate is... The animation plays at a constant 12 frames the whole time, but the sonifier varies is playback rate. I'm really curious what people think of it, you can listen to it [here].

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta70)

spoilersThe hang glider game is fun. I'll try to explain it by text, but if you need I can make an audio demo too.Basically it's all about managing your descent. So you start out at -20 points and you're flying forward. The farther you fly forward, the higher your score gets (you check your score with s). You're also slowly descending as you fly (use d to check your altitude).You can't change your altitude directly but you can fly into updrafts and downdrafts to change it. Steering into an updraft will make your altitude go higher, and steering into a downdraft will make your altitude go lower.Don't aim for every updraft or downdraft though. The point of the game is to keep checking your altitude and score often, and when your score is close to 20, your altitude should be close to 0. Thus you have to use the updrafts and downdrafts wisely i.e. if you're score is close to 20 and you're high in the air, look for downdrafts to pull you down. If you're approaching altitude 0 but you're still far away from 20 points, look for updrafts to keep you from landing prematurely. I generally like to stay between altitudes 10-20 or thereabouts.You can also change your speed with the up and down arrow keys. All this does is change your movement speed. Higher speed = faster forward movement and faster descent, but high speeds also will make it difficult to keep everything in check and will also reduce how effective the drafts are, since you won't remain near them for as long. I'm not sure if hang glider is a competition game though. It would be interesting if it was, since there's really no time constraint otherwise.The gollumns game is indeed tricky. From what I can tell, in order to mark a gollumn, you have to get close to it and hit f, but you'll only survive if the gollumn is headed away from you, which means you have to chase it down, mark it, then quickly run the other way before it comes back. If you try to mark while one is heading toward you, he'll clobber you before you can get away.You have to mark 5 gollumns to succeed, and they all seem to be located on their own little platforms which are separated by walls and ladders. I've never seen two gollumns roaming one section, so try to only pick out the one you're heading toward and focus exclusively on that one. It's tricky and the time limit makes it trickier still, but for me at least, it's not in my top 3 hardest games. Maybe top 4 though. LolHTH.

@18If it can be ported to Windows, you can embed it as a scripting language in a C/C++ app.  I'm not sure how portable it is in that regard, or how easy to embed.Problem with normal Python embedding is that it is very difficult to do and even more difficult to do right, but a nice stripped down Python might be just the ticket.

Re: beginners guide to lucia

.so, .pyd or anything like that are shared libraries..pyd are equivalent of dlls (they are dll files).regarding making an executable out of your game directly from within cython I should say that you should copy each and every module for it to work which I don't recommend it.regarding decompilation, it will be decompiled like c/c++ applications because it will be compiled into c/cpp and those compilers are used to generate the machine code for it.to protect that, you can use packers like upx (not good at all), petite (better), aspack,, nspack etc.or you can use something like vmprotect or obsidium to protect them in a virtual machine (it will make it a little bit slower but if performance isn't an issue you can go for it).

Why are private messages doing this?

2020-04-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : musicalman via Audiogames-reflector

Why are private messages doing this?

Hi everyone,So today I decided to check my private messages and discovered that I hadn't received any in months. I saw a warning stating I had over 100 saved messages and I should delete messages I don't need. My first thought was, oh crap, now that I've reached my limit, people are unable to send me messages now. So, I deleted a bunch of old messages, mostly spam. And the weird thing is, as I delete those old messages, new messages which I previously couldn't see are piling in. All this time my inbox was full, I was still getting new messages, but the overflow kept me from seeing them. So now I have the fun prospect of looking through 6 months worth of invisible new messages to see if I missed anything important. Not a huge deal for me but still.At the moment the system seems a little backwards; if you wanted to limit inboxes to a certain number of messages, it would make more sense to me to delete messages oldest first to make room for newer ones, or just don't limit anything at all since new messages are apparently stored in a cue anyway which will filter through once you clean some of your messages out. I don't get the logic behind this, but I also know I'm probably missing something, so feel free to enlighten me!Thanks for reading.

Re: Representing 3d Staircases? (Python)

2020-04-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : camlorn via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Representing 3d Staircases? (Python)

I'm going to break this down differently, maybe it will get you un-lost.  I'm also going to stick to 2d maps, the extension to 3d is (hopefully) straightforward and this probably ends at needing to type examples.Problem 1 is map compression:A 2d map in Python is a list of lists. The outer list are the x coordinates. The inner lists are y columns.  So, a square is just:[
 [1, 1, 1],
 [1, 0, 1],
 [1, 1, 1]
]I'm sticking to a square because sadly the only way to type this as valid Python is to write x vertically.And the compressed square is:[
 [(1, 0, 2)] #  wall starts at 0, goes for 2.
 [(1, 0, 1), (0, 1, 1), (1, 2, 1)]
 [(1, 0, 2)]
]Now you're going to say "wow, that's actually bigger", and it is, but if this were a 20 by 20 square it wouldn't be.But the important thing for getting this is that we took a 2d map from a list of lists to a list of compressed lists.  In the 3d case you go from a list of lists of lists to a list of lists of compressed lists.If you just stop here it will be good enough for large maps.  If you don't get the rest of this, that's okay.The second problem is Python representation of things.  But before I get into specifics, here's some code:value = [1, 2, 3]
start = [4, 5, 6]
stop = [7, 8, 9]

expected = [(1, 4, 7), (2, 5, 8), (3, 6, 9)]

def get(x):
return (value[x], start[x], stop[x])

assert [(get(0), get(1), get(2)] == expectedThat'll pass if I didn't typo anything.And now is where I use the fact that I've helped you to learn c and apologize for losing everyone else, and explain the problem this multiple array thing actually solves.A value in Python looks a bit like this, except using C features and memory tricks you probably don't know yet:struct value {
int type; // from a list of constants, None/number/list/dict/object
void *value;
};The type tells us what the value is, so we look up the value in a void* and cast.  Notice that this is 12 bytes just to be able to *have* a value, not actually what's in it.  A tuple is then:struct tuple3 {
int size;
struct value values[3];
}In practice it's dynamically allocated with magic that lets you have slightly more efficient things and means you don't have to have one struct for each size of tuple, but that's the idea.  Notice that even though you just wanted a tuple of 3 ints you have this extra size field on the tuple, and 3 extra "this-is-an-int" fields in the values, and then each of those has a pointer to the actual int somewhere else.  A list, of course, is a big array of values with pointers to tuples, that again wastes the type field for every element.Additionally, all Python ints are 8 byte numbers (I believe).  And referring to an object has the same overhead as anything else because we tag it saying it's an object.  So, how can we make this better?Well, by using the array module, which lets you get lists from Python that only hold one type, provided that that type is one of a few kinds of integers.  Each value in those isn't tagged with the type, it doesn't have an extra pointer being stored that points at the value.  It's just a plain old vanilla C array.  But we can't get tuples in them because tuples aren't integers.  Except that two of the values here are definitely integers, and the third (that being the tile itself) can be, if you just assign numbers to all your tiles.So: what is the difference between 5 tuples in a list, and 3 arrays of  5 elements each that you put the tuples back together from as I showed above?  Something like 30 or 40 bytes per tuple.And what is the difference between using the biggest possible int for everything or saying that you only have say 65000 different kinds of tiles at most?  That you get to use a 2 byte integer instead of an 8 byte integer for the tiles array, whioch gets you another 6 bytes per tuple stored.And, if we don't store the default tile so that we can say our runs only go 255 units long, then the int for the number of tiles in the run goes from an 8 byte int to a 1 byte int, which is another 7 bytes per tuple, plus in the process you stopped storing air all together.And if you go one step further and say that the map will never be higher than 65535 meters (quite tall enough for anyone) you get to make the start array a 2 byte int instead of an 8 byte int for another 6 bytes per tuple.And now you're down to 2 bytes for the tile, 2 bytes for the start, and 1 byte for the run length.  Just 5 bytes total for each tuple.  That is literally better than the equivalent C struct:struct run {
uint16_t tile;
uint16_t start;
uint8_t run;
};Which will be 6 bytes, not 5, because of things in C that make structs have to be a multiple of their largest element in size (don't believe me, get out the C compiler, include stdint.h, and try sizeof on it.  Why this is the case is well out of scope, but suffice it to say there are good reasons).Again: take or leave however much of this you want to take or leave.  It just comes down to how

Re: What are the youtube channels you watch regularlly?

I have quite a few that I frequent, but none that I subscribe a lot to. I just kind of go through my recommendations and click on whatever sounds good. The infographics show has been mentioned several times and I'm a big fan of its challenge episodes, especially. I also watch a lot of spector sound studios and a lot of those other popular youTube musicians, Jared Dines, Stevey T, Rob Scallon, Davey504, etc. As far as tech goes, Linus Tech Tips, Marquez Brownly, and the 9to5mac channel do it for me. I sometimes watch an EverythingApplePro video once and a while, but not so much anymore. I don't watch many list videos, but I do subscribe to list25, which is all right most of the time. There is one gaming channel I look at, Poofesure, which has content of a guy playing the old wii sports games. Those composed a major part of my childhood and so I like to revisit them from time to time there. And of course, there are about a zillion channels featuring TTS daniel reading posts from r/askReddit, and I click on  whichever ones are interesting.

Re: Representing 3d Staircases? (Python)

@13, I am sorry. I figured you were using an array to hold those, but I go with the you can never have too much information root.I have the vertical lists working. Could you please explain what you meant about having three arrays for start stop and distance?In post 8, you write:As for the array thing, what I'm saying is that if you have:[(1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9)]As a list of tuples, you can instead do:part1 = [1, 4, 7]part2 = [2, 5, 8]part3 = [3, 6, 9]And then instead of just reading from the one list, you read from all 3.So, from what I understand, you are suggesting to create three arrays, each dedicated to holding specific information about the map tile. The first array holds it's type, the second defines where it starts at (I'm assuming that we are still referencing z), and the third tells us where the tile stops.I think I figured out where I'm getting thrown off. If these arrays are designed to hold information about all map tiles, are we still using a 2d array to store indexes of those tiles?Oof, perhaps an example would help...reference_list = [
[0, 0, 0]
[0, 1, 1]
[0]
]The way I would read this is thus:(0, 0), (0, 1), (0, 2) contain a tile of type 1 from 4 to 7 on the Z axes(1, 0) contains a tile of type 1 from 4 to 7 on the z axes.(1, 1) and (1, 2) contain a tile of type 4 from 5 to 6 on the z axes.(2, 0) contains a tile of type 1 from 4 to 7 on the z axes.Is this what you meant when you said we could have 3 arrays instead of all the tuples?

Re: Does a linux installer like this exist?

well, exactly as other people mentioned above, write the image to a USB media, insert it into the computer, turn it on...At this point, however, I am afraid that you must, if you aren't lucky enough that it's set as such by default, mess abit with the bios. Note: it would be best if you could get sighted assistance at this point, as to not make it a very unplessent experience for both your computer, ocr device and usb thing. Luckily, you need to do this only once per computer, so no big deal there.Let's suppose we got past that offleness with the bios for now, so, we just go on...all you have to do right now is to wait untill the computer boots in the installer. It may pass afew seconds or even a minute untill it does. If you waited for longer than a minute and still nothing, get your phone or whatever you're able to do ocr with, because you'll need it as a problem just happened and you are in the bios, remember, so no screen reader. When it finally does boot, you'll hear a sound much like a drum. Then, press alt+windows+s to start orca.the instalation will be pretty standard by now, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Re: Recording Music: Need Help

Hi, folks, and thanks for the suggestions.I managed to find the setting to disable audio enhancements for my mic, which helped, but only a little. The quality is still not great, especially when sustained notes are involved.I understood the basics about how files are recorded and what midi is and all of that, but I wasn't sure if freeware programs like voice memos or voice recorder record at a really awful quality by default, with no way around it.I don't have dropbox on my phone, but could probably put it there pretty easily. I don't actually use my phone nearly as much as some people.I think that midi would be the best for me in a big-picture sense, but it might be awhile before I get that far. Income, unfamiliarity, it all plays a part.I still appreciate the feedback though. So far I've shared five recordings (rough though they are) with the team, and they're super excited.

As long as you've copied everything to the correct folder, there is really no reason why this would not work.

For the record, I know Fortnite is not a fanastically accessible game for a host of reasons, but some users such as smoothgunner have managed to play with others in some form. However, keep in mind that for the duration of this concert people will not be playing Fortnite like they normally would. Its very likely weapons will be disabled, so no combat, and that death will result in respawning, so no dying. Maybe its too much of a hassle to get in game, and thats ok, but you can still have the opportunity to watch the concert on livestreams and participate in other ways, if you want to. Remember that this is about a concert, Fortnite is just the venue. All i'm presenting here is an opportunity, hopefully to have fun! Whether anyone feels like taking it up or not is up to them. No harm either way.

Hi. This tip may not be for everybody, but when I feel agitated and restless while wishing to actually fall asleep, I try to wrap myself in a blanket as hard as possible and even then I wish to make the sensation stronger, but that would need some external help. Well, I have gathered, that sutch thing might be just one more of autistic tendencies, but why shouldn't it work on neurotypical people as well. The thing is, that strong physical pressure has a deep calming effect and somehow puts you in a position in space or to say it another way fixes your boundries and doesn't let the agitation and restlessness make the whole body lose it's sense of itself or it's position in space.

In addition to some that have already been mentioned, like Dark Docs, The Infographics Show, Alltime 10's, and several others, here are some of the ones I watch.PoparenaJaboody DubsCNETEngadgetTechmoanDatabitsThose last two are for reviews/repairs of vintage audio and video equipment, so if you're into that kind of thing, definitely check them out. CNET and Engadget, I would imagine most people have heard of, but if not, that's where I get some of my tech news. As for Poparena, he reviews several different childrens' cartoon series and books. It's a blast if you want some 90's nostalgia from someone who clearly enjoys nerding out about that kind of stuff. Finally, Jaboody Dubs is a comedy channel where they do sketches which make fun of popular products. I don't really get into the ones they do of movie trailers, but I personally find their infomercial impressions hilarious.

Hi.@camlorn How am I being immature? I've done the research, I trust the shop, that is enough for me.They aren't going to give me duds, it would be stupid of them to do so as people would put it up on their review place and yes you could say they can take it down but I'm not going to be that parinoid about a shop, there's no point.As for it being legal in one place and not in another, it doesn't matter to me. As long as nothing comes of it, and it shouldn't, I don't care.I'm not hurting anyone, I'm just trying to live my life.As for nightmares, I'm not sure how old the OP is but mushrooms and things like that could help them work through the nightmares if that option is availible to them, if not, then perhaps the best way is as you say, talking to doctores.

Re: defeating the nightmare

When I was younger I dealt with a simular situation. It would usually happen around half five in the morning.I would walk over to my mother's room half asleep, but she's already up by then. Unfortunately for me, I didn't have any idea of the time, because it was dark. Anyway, when I get there, she's not there. Now we actually come to the nightmare. So, I drop dead on the bed, and I just start spiraling. All I remember I end up in some sort of city like environment. I end up in a stampeed and even though I'm crushed, I'm still normal. In reality I feel loads of vibrations in my body. Then, after a bunch of things happen, I end up on the Empire State building. I'm admiring the beauty of New York, when suddenly someone pushes me off. Some how, in reality I feel like I'm falling. I'm feeling the wind. And I cant even hear the sound of the trucks coming in the store. Hell. I can't even hear the fan. Eitherway, I eventually hit the ground. And to add insult to indury my belly lands on a firehydront. My  world just goes red. I just hear a loud ring, and I snap back to reality. By the time I come to, its bright. So after half past six. Eventually I realised that the cause of me getting that dream was going over to my mom's room. So to stop it, she came over and checked on me, giving me a warm morning hug, then went back to what she had to do, and I stopped myself from going over. And I haven't had a bad dream since I was late for my first day of secondary school lol. As for lucid dreaming? It can be hard to master, but what I do, before I actually sleep, like while I'm just laying on my bed, I crat my own dreams. I even made up names for the dream channels. There was Dreamy network, Snoraholic broadcasting, and Jaidon Sleeps TV. hahahah! There can also be other causes for nightmares as well. For example, I usually sleep at the foot of my bed, while my brother sleeps at the head. One time I slept at the head of the bed, and I sleep walk into the wall, banging and banging quietly mumbling, "Help. Help. I'm trapped in d livin room. Please help". I remember that morning so clerly because it was christmas morning. Afterthat, I never moved positions. And the next suggestion may seem to childish, but I still do it, get a stuffed animal to sleep with. I mainly use it for back support, or to warm me up when its cold, but I sometimes hug him up when I need it. If you're wondering, its a stuffed shark, howver I'm thinking of bringing over the full sized stuffed bear. The bear is 4 feet long. Excellent for snuggling lol. But in all seriousness, there are many things that cause nightmares. Just study yourself. Try and track the time when you wake up from the nightmare, and see if anything particular happens at that time. As I told you, the stuffed companion can really help, so you may try that out as well.

Re: Recording Music: Need Help

Hi Jayde,I don't know much (or anything) about the FP7F, but my personal recommendation would be to use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as REAPER, to record your piano-playing as MIDI through a VST. There are significant benefits to doing this over your original idea of recording raw audio, including, but not limited to:* The ability to edit notes later on, should you wish to make alterations to your composition. Using REAPER's builtin MIDI editor, you can change the length, timing, velocity, and even add/remove notes without having to re-record the piece from scratch.* The ability to switch pianos later or replace it completely with another instrument, without having to re-record anything. Want to turn your composition into a modern synth version? No problem! Additionally, there are some really nice VST's out there that sample high-end grand pianos and sound heavenly.* The ability to quantize your music (making sure every note is exactly on beat, not too fast or too slow, etc).I'm not sure as to whether or not your keyboard comes with MIDI inputs and outputs, so that may be something worth researching. If it does come with MIDI ports, you can either buy an audio interface that has MIDI I/O included and use MIDI cables going from your keyboard and into the interface, or buy a MIDI to USB cable that plugs directly from your keyboard into your computer. If your keyboard is more modern, it may come with a different MIDI USB port, which will just connect from the keyboard directly to your computer, using a different type of USB cable.If all else fails, you may want to consider picking up a relatively-cheap MIDI controller (something like the Komplete Kontrol A25 or Komplete Kontrol M32), and work with that, as those definitely come with a MIDI USB port as well as an included cable. From reading your profile I gather that you also live in Ontario, so all of the products that I've mentioned (minus the VST's), can be picked up at your local Long & McQuade location.Good luck!

Actually, the scientists don't get them from a shop. There are specific places doing this kind of research in the U.S. with special government license.  Often the university that grows them is the same university doing the research on using them.  And this can go much, much worse than it being a dud.  How about "haha we cut it with cocaine to make it stronger"?  And finally, it can be as legal as you like in wherever the seller lives, and it's still illegal for you to possess it.I regret even mentioning this topic.  I will have to remember in future that people here can't handle this maturely.

The darkness was the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness. All other darknesses, however dark those darknesses might be, were lesser darknesses than the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness, for it was truly the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness, and thus, by definition, the darkness that was darker than all other darknesses. Were it possible for any other darkness to be darker than the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness, that would mean that the darkness of which we are speaking would not be the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness. As this darkness of which we speak is in fact and indeed the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness, we now know with certainty that no other darkness in the history of all darknesses that exist throughout the entire history of forever can, in no wise, be darker than the darkest darkness and the darkest dark history of the twelve darkest darknesses within the darkest forever darkness.

Hi all,Hope everyone is doing well.  Just an update, part 4 should be up in the near future.  It's longer than the past FF7 playthroughs because I added a section at the end describing the menus, and descriptions of all the enemies thus far.  Also, made this little website here which has all of the podcasts, polls, and episodes in one place, in case you're interested:https://gorillasplaythrough.wordpress.com/There's a Facebook.  Little bit of a different format, kinda put the episodes into a series here:https://www.facebook.com/Gorillas-Playt … 811084581/There is also a Tumblr, in case any of you use the blogs there.  A bit more streamlined:https://gorillasplaythrough.tumblr.com/Thanks for checking it out.Also, ComputerGamer, hey I apologize I missed your post before, just caught it now.  Since you've never played it in the past, I'm curious to hear what you think about the game, as we move forward.  I finished the original back when it came out, but honestly given the way they made this game, it still feels new to me too as strange as that sounds.  I appreciate the feedback.  The reason I started it so we can kind of just go through these games together.  Never did it before, I'm still green, still learning.  Thanks again for your support.

Re: Creating a code free RPG using Sable(video 14), by Ebon Sky Studios

Hi,We would prefer a full name, just for internal purposes  so we know who we have working on our Elite team. However,, if you would like to be referred to by your handle in any  public correspondence , such as having your name appear in the credits of our first game, we would be happy using your handle for that, since we understand some people are known more by their handle than their name, Dark and Aprone both spring to mind as great examples   of this. So on the application just write your full name , then make a note that you prefer to be known by the handle  say sightless combat if this was for yourself   . Hope that makes sense. pleased your excited about the project, it’s a really exciting time for us to, knowing for the first time ever  after almost 3 and a half years of work that a test version of Sable  will be going out to the public for everyone to play around with. how much of story do you have to beat in order to get command mode?  I'm hearing conflicting reports on this.

@5, You make a good point, but how would a totally blind player even join? I thought the game was completely inaccessible.

Yo, I understand when you're passionate about something and wanting to show stuff out. I've heard the streams and such about this game and I'm honestly still looking forward for the day when this does gets out there. With that beintg said, take your time. No rush at all here and totally understandable.

Re: defeating the nightmare

Hi.@camlorn I trust this website, it has reviews, youtube videos, and a lot of info on truffles/mushrooms/growing kits, if; for some strange reason, they give me duds, hey, at least I'll get some nice truffles.I highly doubt they're duds though.The place is in amsterdam if i remember correctly where it is legal, as for shipping; they do ship to the UK US, etc.The site if you're interested is: www.whocelium.comAs for admiting to doing something illegal, that doesn't bother me at all.Oh and as for getting the same kind of mushrooms/truffles that the scientists had, it might be a different strane but they'd be perchiced in the same way, from a shop.
