Re: Consider this an official I don't give a damn

56 makes a good point though. The common idiom of "this [software|movie|...] is licensed, not sold, and by buying it you buy a license but don't actually own it" is utterly ridiculous. That's not how selling goods works -- at least not physical copies. If I give you a physical copy of something, I can't control how you use it. If you strip the DRM from it, I can't stop you. Of course, the hole problem is that software you download, or physical goods you buy, have contracts that are immediately voided because the requirements are not enforceable -- that's the license agreements. The license agreements usually say "Oh, this is a legally binding contract". OK... what about those under eighteen. Legally speaking, anyone who is under eighteen is not actually bound by any legal contract they enter into. If they sign up for Facebook, they aren't actually bound by the terms and conditions of Facebook because they're a minor and are not mentally competent under the law. Same for license agreements. So, the guardians of the minor come into play. The guardian is bound by the TOSs and license agreements the minor enters into until that minor turns eighteen... but is that actually legally enforceable if (1) the guardian has no idea the agreement even exists and what the minor is doing and (2) therefore the guardian had no chance to actually agree to the contract?LawDepot says on this topic: "If a court or tribunal rules a contract void, it means the contract has no force or effect, so neither party is bound by it and neither party can rely on it. Usually, this is because: the object of the agreement is illegal or against public policy (unlawful consideration or subject matter); the terms of the agreement are impossible to fulfill or too vague to understand; there was a lack of consideration; or fraud (namely false representation of facts) has been committed." They describe what makes a contract invalid over here and the elements of a valid contract here. So Yeah, I'm kinda confused and would love clarification from any lawyers on here.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

@1019, the point that Jayde and I are trying to make is that I wasn't explicitly calling you an idiot. Nowhere did I say or imply that you in particular were an idiot. If I meant to say that, I'd have no reason to hide behind some facade and call the people who want guns taken away idiots -- I would've flat out called you one and that would be that and this discussion would be entirely different. I generalized and called people who want to take "all the guns away" idiots because that, to me, is an idiotic idea, and I'd expect better, because taking all the guns away is holy unrealistic and is just not gonna happen in my lifetime. Better gun control yes, take all the guns away no. I've acknowledged this previously but I'll acknowledge it again: could I have not worded my statement as such? I certainly could've. But if I had, I most likely would've had still insulted you. Insulting you was purely an accident; there was no reason you had to wave your creds around as if that somehow fixed the problem or made you somehow superior. Calling me "less smarter" because I don't have a degree yet only aggravated the problem and was definitely insulting towards me and only made things worse, hence my rather harsh response in 1004.

Windows XP Media Center edition wis its own eulogy. If streaming hadn't taken such a fragmented approach, media center would've paved the way for a unified streaming experience. Would have. Indeed there's Kodi but it gets bad press as a pirate streaming box when nothing of the piracy content is actually Kodi itself. But with big corporate media hating open standards, it gets lumped in with all it deems evil. For the same reason it despises torrents even though the protocol itself is completely legal and has many legitimate use cases.

I agree though, with the poster that said owning something is becoming obsolete in a way. Its beyond ridiculous, and is maddening at best. Especially when you add the fact, like with movies, buy a movie legally, and you get screwed by drm. I hold the belief that if I own something legally, I can do anything I want with it; yes, even stripping the drm if I want to watch a movie in another app. As long as I don't distribute the thing, no harm done. For streaming services I get the drm thing; but when one owns something legally? Oh... nope.

Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?

2020-08-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : zakc93 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?

How mine works is that I have the experience of seeing things, but only things that I know are there. So I guess my brain just makes up a visual representation of things I am aware of by other senses. Dark eagle's comparison to a phantom limb seems like a good way of describing it, I've never had a phantom limb but I can imagine it would be the tactile equivalent. All my dreams are also still very visual, and I tend to think by visualising things. Jayde, I'm curious how this works for you, since if I understand you you've never had vision. So what do you get in your head when you work with a map or a chessboard? Is it a set of relations between objects? I guess it might be hard to explain but I'm curious. There are sighted people who also have this actually, it's called aphantasia and it's the inability to visualise anything when they're not looking at it at that moment. I remember there was a study that found aphantasia is underrepresented in creative types like artists (not surprising), but overrepresented in scientists, and the speculation was that maybe it's because people who don't visualise things have to think more logically to connect those things in their minds.I've actually had a car running over my foot. I think at that moment they noticed me because the car stopped on my foot, and took a few seconds to reverse off of it. I don't think they ever realised though. This happened back when I was in school on the school premises. It was a school for the blind, and many of the children there had parents with visual problems, so I suspect it might have been one of those. There are people that end up driving cars that I really think should never be allowed to drive cars. Fortunately I had shoes on (because as part of the school uniform we were forced to wear them), but I still had issues with that foot for a long time after. I'm usually barefoot though when I have a choice about it, and that would have probably been worse. Just as a random side-note, people tend to think anything you do is typical of blind people. When people see me walking barefoot on campus they seem to go for it's a blind people thing to feel the ground to navigate, whereas actually it's just a me thing and don't think I've met any other blind person who walks outside without shoes. That reminds me of a funny story. So rain tends to disorientate me, I've never been sure why but I know it's not just me. Light rain is fine but I'm walking in pouring rain I feel like it's so much effort to keep track of where I am and where I'm going, and I tend to get lost easily. So I was walking with another blind friend in rain and we ended up being helped by someone. I can't remember exactly how the conversation started but we mentioned that we're more disorientated in rain and she said something to the effect of "that makes sense because then you guys can't feel the vibrations." Lol I have no idea where that comes from or if it's at all common that people think we use some kind of vibrations.

Generally you'd hope that most of us would do this, and that we'd respect the educational credentials we talk about not to run around yelling as loud as we can. Some folks don't do this, however. There's no cause to call you an idiot, but there's no cause for you to wave your academic success here as some sort of panacea against being an idiot. I think that's the point that's been made. Just because one has a degree does not make one immune to criticism. But this has become an exercise in sophistry. I trust we've all made our various points and can lower our tail-feathers a bit? That last is not directed at any one person or group any more than any other.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Jayde, it was crystal clear that the money comments were in reference to my degrees, and I just find that disgusting that I would be accused of paying to earn my degrees. I despise people who do that, and my family's financial  situation would not have allowed me to attend Cambridge if I hadn't gotten a scholarship. But that idiot comment pushed me  over the edge, and I decided to throw all the cards I have on the table. I certainly didn't mean to appear arrogant  or condescendinding to anyone else on this forum, as my comments were directed exclusively at the commenter. But one principle I have, if someone shoots at me, I fire back, with the same calibur ammo. I absolutely didn't  intend stuff I say to be taken as gospil as Jayde said, but based on my education, don't think I'm an idiot with my opinions, if I make a claim, it is after research, or  deep thought, and reasoning. If I am unsure of something, or don't know an answer, I will say so, or if something is an ideal world situation and probably isn't doable in the real world.Oh, and I don't think having a degree makes someone qualified in other areas, a really good example is trump's economic advisor, peter navarro, who proudly toughted his PH.D in economics, as reason that he could understand and interpret hydroxycloroquin papers, whereas, he was not actually qualified to give an opinion on the subject, as understanding medical papers truly requires a knowledge of medicine in addition to a knowledge in statistics.

@989 as i pointed out, the A R 15 is sold as a semi automatic but can very easily be customised to full burst fire. that makes it an assault rifle when it's done and in fact if you look it up, makes it an m16.

And now that you told him to get a life, that will entirely change his perspective and make him never post such a message again. Seriously, that type of message is for troll Youtube comments or game chats, not for a serious forum post. I have nothing to add here, adding something would only mean repeating of the exact same argument I'm not interested in. I will only say that until Audiovault became  a thing, we in Serbia had no access to audio described content at all, borrowing a few movies described in our native language. There is no Netflix here, and no other service legally offering the ability to purchase the content. So maybe it's breaking law number X, Y and Z, but it is super easy to be smart and paste the random laws you find, not that easy to find a solution for a random Joe who wants to watch a movie and access the information in it. That being said, the Vault has a Discord server, so it's not like there is no place to discuss this topic. Now that it's better organized, keeping it off the forum should not be an issue.

No matter what, I'm excited to play all of the submissions.Beyond this thread, we have a community forum on itch.io and a Discord sever for folks to organize together into teams. Today we passed 50 participants, many of whom have joined our Discord. I encourage anyone who needs teammates to please speak up so we can connect you with folks who complement your skills. Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Uh...so this is where I do want to actually straight-up draw a line here.Observe the following fictional scenario.Bob says:Your degree really doesn't mean much. People can throw around a ton of money and just get a degree that way, and that doesn't make them intelligent, doesn't mean they earned their degree. So just because you have a degree doesn't mean you earned it.So fine. Shots fired. Now you don't get to then turn around and say, "Well Bob didn't actually mean to call you out". Yes, he absolutely did. You don't build a strawman like that for nothing.Either money matters to Enes's degree, or it doesn't.If it does matter, then own your attack. If it doesn't, then it should not have been cited. As Enes rightly pointed out, this is a really slimy and backhanded way to cast doubt on someone's qualifications. Because okay, sure, it does happen. But unless you have a reason to think it happened in this scenario, there's no reason to mention it.Good faith means that you:1. Accept that Enes earned his degree legitimately until proven otherwise, rather than putting him on the defensive, and2. accept that Enes possessing a degree means that he is qualified in at least one area of expertiseGood faith does -not require that you take everything Enes says as gospel truth. He's not infallible simply because he has accreditation from prestigious academic institutions. It should mean, however, that in a very general sense, he had the wherewithal to earn his accreditation honestly (again, until proven otherwise). That counts for something. On the flip side, you didn't help yourself out much, Enes. When some folks do what you just did, wave their credentials as proof that they aren't foolish, it does look a lot like posturing. I respect that you were made defensive by comments inferring that you were an idiot, but your overreaction might have made this worse than it already was.Tl.dr: don't bring shit up unless it's relevant. Don't throw mud unless you're willing to hold up your dirty hands and say, "Yeah, that was me, and here's why". Lacking that reason, just don't bother. I don't feel there's any really good defense for bringing money (as it relates to a degree) directly into this discussion.

Re: Audio game jam - No Video Jam starts August 14

Your approach sounds great, @nolan! My take on game jams is that nothing we do in life is final. As indies we build things the best we can at the time. It's very punk in the sense that it can be sloppy as long as it has passion (paraphrasing Kurt Cobain). If we like what we make or it gains a following, then we can revise and develop it further, but that's part of a journey beyond the scope of a jam. So I'll judge our success based on that.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

@1012, you took that money issue out of context. Like majorly. I significantly doubt post 1005 was ever insinuating that you in particular threw around money to get your degree. That's definitely not what I got out of it, that's for sure. Post 1005 was pointing out that that is indeed one way to get a degree; whether its accepted at the top institutions is entirely irrelevant. The point was that its ultimately possible and people have done it only to prove later in life that they did not, in fact, deserve that degree, or they otherwise take advantage of the fact that they have that and use that degree as some kind of way of getting people to follow along with what they say (which sadly has been happening lately with many people with the coronavirus situation). That doesn't apply just to degrees though -- it applies to everything, or nearly everything. But never did that post insinuate that you did that. I don't think anyone on here would believe you'd stoop so low as to do that -- you seem far more intelligent than that.

Well Camlorn, you should explore how to deactivate the smoke detector, unless you want to accidentally set it off at an inopertune moment, like at night. Well, did your dad  also have the fire department arrive. The porters at college usually investigate when alarms go off, but this time they decided to be adventurous and call the fire department, so I was the cause of a fire truck driving up,  and firemen coming to my room to find the very very tiny amount of oil I burned when popping popcorn, I doubt that any actually burned though, as the alarm was really close to the kitchen and extremely sensetive.

Hey,I haven't tried this in quite some time, but one thing which crossed my mind just now was to wonder how well this might work with the so-called Windows Services for Linux? They are basically a way to do Linux development and use text-based programs without either a virtual machine or a separate OS. I definitely understand why Linux in general might be a bit off-putting, but I'm afraid for the moment it's the best option for getting this particular game to work. I don't know of a way to play it remotely via Telnet, though that would be another option. *ponders*

Re: Audio game jam - No Video Jam starts August 14

@81 FWIW I definitely hear and understand your concerns. That said, we kind of get what we get in such a gaming niche.FWIW, I'm a software developer trying to stretch his skills a bit. Learning some sound design, reading up on game theory, and on how it relates to balance in game design. I think it's fair to say that *any* indie game developer works with what they have, and learns where they can. As such, maybe identifying as a developer isn't too bad. For my part, I'll be adding a marketing survey into my game if I create one. If folks like it, I'll leave the free game jam version up permanently as a gift to the community, and build a more fleshed-out commercial version where I might be willing to pay sound designers and such to improve it. So that's another possibility here.

Re: Help me with a little Manamon 2 Fun

Not a chance in hell at this point. If someone provides the game script, I'll copy-edit it, no problem, but there is no way I'm doing a guide for this game. Use the search feature. I got dozens of personal emails (not even forum emails, but personal ones) from someone asking me questions, the answers to which could all have been found in my guide. I'm not putting that much effort into this game when it's clear that the dev's work ethic does not merit it.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

I'm just gonna go ahead and point out that I think both of you, Ethin and Enes, are taking certain bits out of context.Ethin, you're trying to extract a tooth with a sledgehammer. You are overdoing this point, though I agree with the thrust of what you're getting at.Enes, I don't think anyone is really questioning your intelligence, but in the same breath, I feel like you may perhaps be a bit quick to defend yourself here. I'm more on your side when it comes to gun stuff, and don't really think Ethin or anyone else needs to be calling anyone idiots. At the same time, however, calling someone an idiot on one topic or for one opinion doesn't necessarily mean that they're an idiot about everything.I'm just going to kindly ask the both of you to try a little harder to respect one another's intelligence, and to maybe put your hackles down just a bit. I don't want this to escalate. I'm coming at this as a person right now, not as an admin, thus the lack of a moderation opener.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

@1007, I'm confused on where you got the idea that I had the idea that you were an expert on everything. Because I certainly didn't claim that anywhere in 1004. Yes, earning degrees shows intelligence and hard work ethic. But that doesn't make you immune from stupidity or idiocy occasionally, which is what I was getting at. And as for you making your statement? Alright then, I acknowledge that -- you've stated your opinion quite clearly on this topic and we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one then. Finally, the opinion of 1005 was not something I stated, but something I agreed generally with in 1006 to demonstrate that degrees do not mean your above me. Your smart, and I generally respect what you have to say, and I hope you can say the same about me. But that doesn't mean your above me in some way. If you interpreted post 996 as condescending, than okay... not really sure why it came off to you like that but okay. Finally, I'm now quite curious exactly what subjects you studdied that would 'make my head explode'. Quantum physics, perhaps? Because I still get confused by that -- and I've got several books and have read the ones I have -- though they were primarily on quantum computing. But when you talk about quantum computing, you always gotta bring in quantum physics and quantum mechanics as background. But getting back to my point... okay, so you might've had to study subjects that I wouldn't understand yet. But that doesn't make me somehow less smarter than you at all. Depending on the subject matter, that could just be an indicator that our strengths are not on the same page, or even that I don't necessarily care for what you studied because I feel that what I study is more important to me. I could say the same about the subjects I tend to research sometimes and making your head explode. We've dragged this way, way off course though... can we try to make an effort to return this discussion to its original purpose after resolving any remaining disputes?

Any average joe on the street can't just earn a degree or  survive in one of the top 3 colleges. Your comment, calling me an idiot, was extremely arrogant and condescending, so I responded in kind. And I will make my statement then, if you are freely throwing around the idiot label, anyone who thinks every human being should have a godgiven right to own a gun is a fucking idiot.Oh and for your information, degrees aren't bought and paid for with money, that shit doesn't fly in top institutions. Degrees are earned with lots and lots of hard work. I had to demonstrate knowledge of and master subjects that could likely make your head explode thinking about them.  and I didn't pay a penny for iether of my degrees iether, so so much for your rich kid who bought his degrees argument.

Re: tarot readings

I've never used tarot, though I did hear of a braille deck once. I've done runes (Elder Futhark), Yijing (I Ching), mala divination (a mala is a set of beads used in Hinduism and Buddhism to count mantras, sort of like a rosary), and kazhuk, Tuvan sheep bone dice. I'm familiar with tarot and have done a bit of reading on it, mostly "The Book of Thoth", but it seemed pretty visual for my taste, really heavily based on images. Because of that I never really pursued it seriously, beyond reading. Here's a bunch of stuff on tarot though, in case you haven't seen it.https://www.sacred-texts.com/tarot/index.htmIt even has a text on divination with playing cards, and you can get those in braille no problem, or braille them yourself. Sacred Texts doesn't seem to have "The Book of Thoth", so it might still be under copyright, though it's hard to say, sometimes it just doesn't have things. Looking around for braille decks, the Rider-Waite braille deck seems to be out of stock everywhere, but these people will braille decks for you, apparently. So you can probably get whatever grabs you.http://tarotgarden.com/braille-service/

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

@1003, I think you just proved 1000s point right there. And no, a college degree does not necessarily prove that you are hard-working or extremely intelligent. People who don't have degrees, or failed to get one because of the major failures of our education system, can be just as hardworking and intelligent as someone who got a degree. Just because you have a masters degree in, say, education doesn't mean you know what your talking about when it comes to law enforcement, for example. And, finally... just because you have a degree from college, or two, or three, doesn't mean your not an idiot. The smartest people can be idiots too sometimes. Your college degree doesn't suddenly mean your the ultimate authority on a particular matter, and the way you phrased 998 came off as quite arrogant -- "I have multiple degrees from the top three colleges in the world and therefore I'm right on this matter and everything I say should be respected and no one should call me an idiot even if what I say sounds stupid to them". And yes, that's not precisely what you said, but its the message you sent. Here's the thing: 996 is my opinion. And I have the right to my opinion, and I have the right to voice it. If I insulted you, then I'm sorry, because I didn't intend to insult you in particular, but I will not retract my statement because I believe that anyone who believes that [all] guns should be taken away, and who fails to actually think about all the logistics of such an operation, is indeed an idiot. And as for me being "less smarter than you"? Excuse me, but that's a bit presumptuous, condescending and arrogant of you, don't you think? Which makes me wonder why I should've even had to write that, because if your so much smarter than I am, I shouldn't have had to write that, now should I? After all, your the one with multiple master's degrees, and therefore I should just automatically assume that you know what your talking about, and that your an authority on the subject matter that we're discussing right? My point is that just because you might have spent a ton of money to earn a degree, and even more to earn two, doesn't mean you can't be an idiot sometimes. Your not immune to this little thing humanity calls stupidity. Now, could I have worded this post a bit nicer? Sure I could've. Could I have not generalized in 996 and called everyone who has the opinion of "take all the guns away" an idiot? Yeah, I could have. But if I'd used any other word to describe them, I imagine you'd be just as insulted as you apparently are now. Yes, you may have a few degrees under your belt, and I respect you for taking the time and dedicating yourself to that, and I respect you for proving yourself to the education system. But if you have an opinion that I think is idiotic or stupid, I'm going to tell you so. Your degrees do not make you immune to criticism, direct and blunt as it might be. I may not have a master's degree. I can tell you that I don't even have a bachelor's degree yet, but that I'm working towards it. But knowing that little tidbit of information does not make it suddenly possible for you to judge my intelligence or knowledge, and I find you calling me "less smarter" than you -- in other words, I'm "dumber" than you -- quite insulting myself, especially since you don't exactly know much about me. Me calling a minority a bunch of idiots for thinking of an idea like "take all the guns away" is not intended as an insult, and if you view it as that way then that's fine. The actual intent is to call the idea of it idiotic, and I know that that very minority could've spent the time together to actually come up with a much better one. Ultimately, your going to find people calling you idiots all over the place, and you just have to take it because there's nothing you can do about it. Did I intend to call you an idiot? Nope; if I did, I would've directed that at you and not at every single person who holds similar to identical opinions on this gun issue as you. But I definitely didn't mean for that to be an insult, and I'm surprised that you'd take it that way. If I had meant it as an insult I probably would've phrased it in a much more derogatory fashion.

Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?

Haha stories. There's the two times I got burned pretty badly, the worst one in college when I was trying to pour boiling water to make tea.  I actually cook a *lot* and hot water doesn't frighten me in the slightest, so it was bound to happen, but was a valuable lesson in what kinds of pitchers not to buy, namely anything remotely narrow where your other hand needs to be involved.  I think he second-worse cooking mishap, fortunately only almost a mishap, was that day my grandmother decided to move a pan of oil I was heating up to fry some french fries to the other side of the stove.  If it'd been another 3 or 4 minutes or another inch, I'd have been making cannibal chicken fingers.  Obviously there was a lecture after that one. There's the time one of my classes got handed over to another professor for a few lectures and when I walked into the room with my guide dog (I had one back then) the first thing he says is "I thought this would happen one day, either you leave or I do, I'm deathly allergic to dogs and you can't have it even on the other side of the room".Just 6 months ago, I literally ended up running 30 gates at the Detroit airport with two helpful strangers from the plane who happened to have time because I needed to make a connection, the plane on the way in was a little late, and Delta dropped the ball on getting me help.  Literal running.  On the moving walkways.  At midnight.  And I wish I could see the faces of any bystanders to that. There was that job interview, where I almost got the job.  I didn't fail to get it because of blindness, but because I said I valued stability and it was a small tech startup.  But on the way out, the interviewer goes "They probably told you, but watch this narrow door" and a little mini-conversation later it turned out that they were the financial tech startup that managed to get space in a building that used to be an old bank which put conference rooms inside all the old bank vaults and I'd been interviewed inside one.I've got at least one aggressive full-contact prayer story, which is exactly what it sounds like and is also why I won't ever tell someone they can pray for me again.I've never had a bad cane story, but I've almost had a few.  Learned the hard way not to use those carbon fiber telescoping ones, and after that day in high school when some idiot literally decided to jump it like a jump rope and failed, I always just decided that I'd carry an extra cane on me if I'm going to be traveling somewhere far from home (I've got 3 on hand at the moment, you can never have too many canes). The smoke detector thing will probably happen to me at one point, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's a common one.  Most of the other ones I've got offhand are common enough.  Oops sharp knife on the counter, oops hot pan where you didn't mean to put it, etc.  If I weren't very meticulous in certain ways some of those would have gotten me at some point or another, especially with how much I do in the kitchen.

HI all. I have a suggestion. How about some bowls with water and bowls with horse food such as hay?  NO  horse can successfully walk and jump without water and food. A horse will get thirsty and hungry at some stage. so how about adding food and water bowls? If you hear the sound of the food or water bowl in the center, you press shift space then your horse drinks water or eats food . If you don't stop your horse  your horse will die from hunger or thirst and the game is over. thanks for such a nice game.

Re: Consider this an official I don't give a damn

@50, I know. Open-source software helps in that regard too; as long as someone can get access to the code to store it somewhere, and can keep the code up to date until the final version, and they have the tools on a machine you can make a program last practically forever. It seriously makes me wonder what the world is going to do if Google, MS, or Facebook go out of business, considering how much the world depends on those companies. And its sad that said companies love to crush innovation and competition. Like OK, I get that you wanna be the top dog in something, but history has shown that its incredibly dangerous to depend solely on a single company, or a small minority of companies, for practically everything. Because if that company or group of companies dies, you've got nothing. Thankfully we have Linux, which most likely will last for centuries, if not longer, just because of its open-source nature. But still...

Program-L is where a good number of software devs seem to hang out. Discussions range from IDEs to basic accessibility to screen reader comparisons to the occasional unrelated help my code isn't working (don't do this).I'd also add the blind-sysadmins list.On Sunday they announced they were moving somewhere else, probably to a larger platform like google groups, though you should still be able to subscribe. Not necessarily code I know, but discussions there have the tendency to overlap.

Re: Consider this an official I don't give a damn

I also think that the idea of personal ownership of your entertainment media, movies, games, and to a lesser extent music, is starting to become obsolete and it irritates the shit out of me that I can spend good money on something and not fully be entitled to a copy of my own, or that it won't be ruined by some DRM no longer working in 30 years, or a patch server being offline, or your account magically being lost from the system, , its ridiculous. So in a way, those guys cracking games (even if they don't distribute the game's files), as well as hording full romsets of old game systems containing games from companies that are way more than long gone, they're doing a better job of preserving history than these big companies are because they're too worried about red tape and shit that they set up to protect them when these were products in walmart in the 80s and 90s.

Re: Minecraft: accessibility, servers and mods

Building cities would just take more practice for us. I mean, you can download other peoples' worlds, so couldn't you just look at others' worlds in your version with all the mods, run about in their cities and get a general feel for it?Also, messing around is part of the fun of building stuff. And Creative mode gives you the chance to build without having mobs drop on you at inconvenient times. Sure, we can't build cities right out of the gate, but we can learn, and more importantly, have a lot of fun doing it.I'm listening to a particularly descriptive Minecraft guide on Youtube that's taught me a lot about what players often consider, and I'd definitely be taking tips from this guy if Minecraft was ever accessible enough for me to try playing. Here's the link. It starts in 1.13, so some of the info is out-of-date, but only some. The Minecraft Survival Guide.
