Re: Arturia Software Center Setup Help

Oh, Arturia's software side is shit!I have a couple of their hardware products, which both have hidden settings, that can only be changed in the software panel and there's no sensible way of doing this. So I guess, that purely with software products it's even worse.Strangely enough OCR isn't really of much help here. Sometimes it works, but mostly doesn't.So yeah, not really an advice here, just sharing my experience.

@musicalmanFor the exact same reason you described, I simply try to avoid devices, that run only on batteries and if possible, use cable power. It's also funny, that those recorders, that have a built-in battery, though don't know, if it matters here, but why the hell they can't measure the charge in percentage and only give us the high/mid/low indication.Quite a few of my synths can be battery-powered, but I wouldn't trust that solution for a gig or even simply for making patches/patterns and take that risk of losing shit when the batteries happen to go empty.

Re: A born blindman's rant on gaming in front of sighted people

@TheBlindSaiyanRemember, you don't have to climb out of your skin just to appear more social than you really might be. It's very important to divide both activities you do into those done by yourself and those shared with/between others. This way you'll end up having more productive results in no matter what you do and also have more energy to deal with other people and they wouldn't annoy you that much.Feel free to prove me wrong, but it seems you have been told way too many times that doing stuff by yourself and prefering to be alone is bad, which of course it is not. It's again those stupid norms that make people think that way, but in fact we all know that introverts and loners are often the greatest inventors, artists, scientists and many other things in life.

Re: A born blindman's rant on gaming in front of sighted people

@TheBlindSaiyanAs I don't know you, thus have obviously nothing against anything you say, but let's pause for a minute:as many people with differing amount/strength of autistic traits as I know "including myself", are usually not capable of focusing on multiple sources of information at once. So for example I always had to silence my screen reader and stop anything I was doing whenever my mom decided to come to my room, as I simply could not listen to and comprehend both her and my computer at the same time having to ask her to repeat herself. So may-be that's what gets you annoied in the first place - simply trying to step over your capacities, which sometimes can indeed yield some good results, but most of the time just generates anger and feeling of failure.Another important thing is: don't let others command you out of your room so easyly. Say something like: let me just finish my game and I'll join you afterwards. One more point before I finish this post is more of a general one.Interestingly enough most of the time it's our parents/relatives/others we live with, who actually understand us the least. It's something, that can change over the years, but as well can stay stuck for the entire time lived together.

Oh no, it's not at all a pointless topic.Although I don't play any games what so ever, I more than well know, how nasty it is to live with other people in terms of sharing noises. And when they dont, and most of the time they don't freakin' understand the problem. As I also have autistic features, thus lower tolerance for louder noises, but it gets even lower during any kind of deeper/bigger stress. Once I even told my parents to stop making noise, while they were just talking. Now it's almost a year since I live separate from my parents and it has been a good experience regarding noise, but still I have problems with other sounds around the house, that are outside my flat and thus not under my control

Re: I just wanna do drugs and get lost in space

But getting back to the topic: why doing something is better than just observing/consuming what others have done, is because escaping to fantasy world helps only while you're in it and getting out of it makes previously already bad state even worse, so it's more a waste of time than anything else.On the other hand doing/making/creating something gives a sustainable result which you can come back to and that will boost your strength/sense of value and decrease overall feeling of uselessness.Yes, this year has been a shitty one to all of us and so in spring, when the first shitwave hit, I had multiple giggs canceled and was basically brought to my knees in regards to my overall psychological wellbeing. So in the end I decided to take some steps and bring at least some change and positivity to the situation and ended up buying a cheep, but quite a strong synth to bring some fresh blood to my setup and you know what, it helped. To be exact, it helped to break the loop of uselessness, inability to change the bad situation and find any alternative to it.Yes, just my personal experience, but what I'm trying to accentuate here is the fact, that in deeply bad state it's good to just find something to break out of it and sometimes you don't need to turn your life around entirely and it can be enough just taking some smaller steps and not simply letting the state to stick and get even worse. Those kind of loops have a bad tendency to self perpetuate and feed back on themselves and thus keep on going round and round and round ad infinitum.

Unfortunately drugs won't be of much helt here. Rather pick up some activity you really like, no matter how others may rate it to be funny/stupid/pointless/..., just find something and go deep into it - spit on everything else for a while and go deep. It's also important to point out, that this activity shouldn't be only on the consuming side, but something where you can activly participate, create something, solv something.

Well, sorry for expressing my bitterness, but to get back to the topic:if you manage to get some older version of the plugin, it's definitely gonna be 32-bit. Btw, if they haven't changed the license of this product, you will have to register to get the unlock code, but it shouldn't be hard. I have done it in the past and there's probably a registered vst version installed in my Adobe Audition. Re: Family issues are really bothering me

There's one really nice strategy to try. If another persone is shouting at you, try staying as calm as a robot: answer coldly and concretely. Emotions can be a really bad contagion and bounce off in all kind of nasty feedback loops. So when people switch to that wild level, you can't really reason with them any more, because they aren't using the mind. When you act calm and don't run with the bullshit others throw at you, it might make them stop - yes, they might get confused and even more angry at first, but eventually it gets to them, that it's not that easy to break you and they simply stop.Yep, it's quite difficult to pull it off in the beginning at least, but with practice it can lead to good results.

Re: Any tips for dealing with lonelyness?

If you find a truely deep passion in life, it wouldn't hurt that much even while being alone. For example I have electronic music, which yes, also can and does give me oportunities to engage with more people, is still a worthwile thing to enjoy also while by myself.Again, it might seem somewhat contradictary to most things others might say and think, but don't be afraid of being a nerd, if your type just happens to be such. An introvert is nod a bad thing, nore are any kind of differences/weirdnesses - autistic traits or other similar things, however people decide to mockingly call them.My point isn't to debunk anybody's beliefs, rather to show, that simply simulating any kind of popular behaveours isn't gonna help much. Yes, for a while it may look like that, but after some time it will eventually turn around and work in completely opposit direction simply draining you of energy and generating all kind of bad feelings, like being a failure or simply losing the sense of your true self.

Re: Any tips for dealing with lonelyness?

If you find you can't relate to people your age, no need to feel bad about it. Feel free to find older friends and that's perfectly fine. Small talk won't really get you far, if you aren't good at it and it simply takes all your effourt to simulate that strange behaveour. If you're a nerd, just try not to seem being not one and stick with those similar to yourself and that will work out and feel way better, rather than trying to act "normal" and again, simulate or emulate things not native to you. This all might sound like some rounded off crap, but I'm just trying to express my experience of life in as few words as possible and not make it more complicated or litter things with more personal examples not relevant here.

Re: New Maschine leaked, Maschine +, standalone

Sorry for jumping directions a little, but there's at least one synth hardware company actually and really interested in us, thus making shit more accessible. That's none other, than Erica synths from Latvia, who make mostly eurorack modular stuff, but as well some standalone synths and drum machines and fx-boxes. At the moment their accessibility strives are geared towards eurorack and quite for a reason. About four years ago Girts Ozolins "hopefully spelled correct", the president of Erica synths visited Tartu, my home town and gave some kinda workshop basically showing off their modular shit. Me and my two blind bros went there and that probably changed the game. As the workshop was kinda freeform, everyone was free to talk and ask etc. Being a synth nerd that I happen to be, there was quite an amount of serious tech-talk between Girts and me, especially considering the fact, that at that point I knew about modular only in theory and had no hardware experience. To cut it short, this established not only a ferm connection between us and them, but also sparked their deep interest in blind synth nerdz. So now they are trying to pump up a project, where they and other modular makers would donate preconfigured systems to the blind synthesists anywhere, but at this very moment this thing is kinda slow to start and here's why: eurorack being a really hands-on, but quite dence and packed thing at the same time, doesn't really make those sighties of more regular and thus simpler thinking understand, that it's totally possible to learn all the jacks and knobs and there's really no need to see all the multi-colored leds on the modules. So what to take away from this is probably the fact that manufacturers don't really have that much direct experience with us and so they don't know and so they don't care about our ways.I will make another short post with links to the company and that project.

Re: computer power suplie exploded, is any thing else damaged?

To still be serious, that's actually really a freakin' good luck, if after a bang and getting a new psu everything really works fine. If the thing had gone out quietly - just shutting down as a result - it wouldn't have been the most dangerous situation in the first place, but as it went with a bang, anything could get blasted by "electricity going the wrong way" right after the bang and before finally cutting off. Heh, quite a messy explanation on my side, but hopefully you get the point. To illustrate an example: one of my psu deaths was quiet - at some point my pc just went off, there was some funny smell like melting plastic or somethin'. I understood right away, that shit is not right and of course had no intent to try turning the thing back on. Instead I just touched the psu at the back and it was freakin' hot, not just warm, really burning hot. So yeah, nothing else inside the machine got fried that time, just the freakin' psu and after having it replaced there were no problems. In contrast my friend had it going out with a boom and something inside his computer got busted during the process, but I don't exactly remember what it was.So yeah, what to take away from all this is the fact, that such accidents are obviously not harmless fun and I strongly suggest to look after your pc for some time more thurrorly for any abnormalities just to make sure it's really ok and no failure is on it's way to strike at the worst moment.

Re: computer power suplie exploded, is any thing else damaged?

Well, guyz, may-be some of ya really have to chase the latest tech at any possibility and also have enough free resources for just that, but for the rest of us it's actually not that uncommon to have computers ten years old or even more than that. And yes, psu's can and do blow up, not always with a bang, sometimes just with a slight buzz and a funky smell, but they do die. I myself have been quite lucky not to have a bang, but a couple of those things have went out on me. Fortunately nothing else had got damaged during those times, but as a note of caution: whenever things start to go weird and act strange, do not ever try to force them to turn on as it may lead to more serious stuff happening rather than just a dead power source. As always, I have no intent to offend anybody whenever being a little harsh, just to remind that as the world is wide, so are the financial and other conditions people may come from.

@NevEd, do whatever you do, but no matter what life throws at you, man, don't leave the music behind if you are at ease with her. Trust me, it might take you somewhere one day. Even if not make you exactly famous; even if just some underground shit gettin' just a bit of attension, but you'll definitely earn respect and through that might find some good friends probably for life or at least for a long time. I'm not trying to say here, that everything else doesn't matter, cause it obviously does, but instead to put a strong accent on the fact that for those of us who do music, it's as important as anything else in life, hell, sometimes it's actually the main motivator for all else. Re: Interest in accessibility being added to music making hardware

Of course we hope for accessibility and have complete right to do it all the time, but usually big companies just don't get it or simply don't give remote crap about the issue, because we are such a small bunch from their standpoint, that there is not enough reason to bother and that's where the sadness of it all is buried. Same goes for both hard- and software parts of the music making world. Nowadays there's a new kind of hybrid pain in the dark hole: such companies as Arturia or Behringer hide some, as they say: "non-performance settings" from the user behind some awful software solution, which is definitely not accessible. So while it's possible with some ocr-ing around and cursing loudly to perform firmware updates, it's definitely almost not possible to change those hidden settings without messing something up using those solutions. This last thing I don't really understand: why bother developing some strange software instead of just implementing some kind of alternative boot place or a small menu for changing those settings. So yeah - anyway, good luck in trying to convince Akai to make their newer line of MPC's accessible, but personally I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Obviously I'm in no way trying to be overly pessimistic or bring down somebody's hopes, it's just experience, that produces these thoughts.

I'm a kind of guy, for whom all this digital/virtual/interactive stuff really doesn't cut. My interest in latin hasn't gone anywhere, so who knows - may be I continue with duolingo one day or simply try some other ways.

About five years ago I had a very similar experience with an eight gb flash drive from some unknown or not that big company, simply can't recall exactly. The damthing looked funky, it had a rubber shell, that resembled a shape of a guitar, but the drive itself was complete trash. Well, it kinda worked for some months and then started acting up: data got corrupted and file system damaged like all the freakin' time! If you tried to fix it, well, it seemed to work untill the next use. So yeah, at some point I gave up and as a payback for all the madness, we - hmm - microwaved the bastard!!! After that I got myself even more than one Kingston sticks and never looked back. And yes, those mates still work flawlessly.

Now, I'm not willing to be sharp/evil/whatever, just express my personal point of view and it is, that in my book normality itself is actually the weirdest thing and it's just about time for humankind to start may-be slowly, but surely stepping over it. Of course I'm not saying, that "Go out and kill somebody!" is to be considered acceptable - no way, but in regard to personal prefferences and likings, a heck yes! Obviously no harm policy shall stay in place, but outside that, what's the problem? In fact this friggin' normality is definitely one of those things existing only mathematically, because - hey, if we start to compare just anybody to that model, how many actually will fit? I bet, not so many, if any at all.In the end it all comes down to the obvious, but still not enough accentuated fact, that we all are different - very very different and that's it.

Re: Are the little synth from modal electronics accessible?

Well, actually I recall that some years ago there was this thing called the ProteusVX, basically a multitimbral vst with quite a library of sample-based sounds - "also works as a standalone application". As it was a limited version of a bigger commercial product, editing of those sounds was quite slimmed down, but basically it worked. Soundwise that's more of a 90s-2000s type of sound. If you even manage to find it nowadays, there might be problems getting it to work on modern windows systems, but it still might be possible with some trickery or just luck. I actually have an archive of it on my harddrive, so if somebody is really desperate to find this, just give me a note, but please don't send pms on the forum system, as that just makes my head hurt never understanding if it actually works or not, so please send a regular e-mail instead.

Well, I have gathered, that sutch thing might be just one more of autistic tendencies, but why shouldn't it work on neurotypical people as well. The thing is, that strong physical pressure has a deep calming effect and somehow puts you in a position in space or to say it another way fixes your boundries and doesn't let the agitation and restlessness make the whole body lose it's sense of itself or it's position in space.

2020-04-04 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : ManFromTheDark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Declining Mental Health, Do You Need to Vent?

To keep the discussion flowing I would like to step up for the defence of those, for whom isolation is actually better than dealing with someone else all the time, especially when this togetherness is forced.Since the beginning of this year I'm basically living by myself, of course with help in areas where needed, but overall - yes - finally alone. Previously I lived with my parents all my life, but this time, when it was planned to move, I simply took a stance, that I want to stay here, take some rest and simply try to be by myself and simply kept on stomping on that untill it just worked. In no way I'm trying to say, that I don't like people, just the contrary - I thurrorly enjoy a good visit from some friend and also my mother, who tends to be the only persone I currently see, as the virus simply keeps people from moving around much. And here is the main point, how isolation actually helps me coping with this whole pandemic situation: I'm personally not afraid of getting infected, because I simply don't go anywhere and thus can't also be of any danger to others, mom is careful enough, so I don't think she could get the virus herself and also bring me some and of course the dad - oh dad. If I was with him currently I would definitely be broken, crazy, pissed off, freaked out and all the other bad things, because he constantly watches TV and currently probably just every episode of the news. I tried to keep track of the news on the radio some weeks ago, but it quickly clicked with my tendency to turn stuff into strict rutines and get zoomed in on stuff, so I started listening those darn news every hour and getting increasingly depressed and angry untill it got pretty bad and when I finally understood the source of my bad state I obviously stopped this emmediatly and feel much better. Of course I keep a low profile eye on the news, but it's more like couple times a day.Of course I miss many of my friends and stay opened for any healthy persone to come by, but of course without pushing anybody, as the situation is obviously serious and it's better to avoid unnecessary risks whenever possible.I'm definitely worried about my giggs planned for spring and summer, but not ruminating on this with anyone helps to keep that at bay also and it's definitely a good thing. So yeah, we all are different, our perception of the world, thoughts and feelings vary quite alot and while it all makes people sutch a complicated matter to deal with, but it also keeps us moving.

Re: socializing - any tips?

2020-03-30 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : ManFromTheDark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: socializing - any tips?

If you're making music, share it with the world and the world might get back to you one day! At least for me sutch was the case. About eight years ago I got pretty fed up by my friend asking me to make myself a soundcloud account and put my shit up there. Previously I had had quite a nice experience with one specific forum, where I posted my tracks basically to explain and show people, that one particular piece of kit is actually a real thing and not just a toy and got a pretty positive feedback and earned some good rep on there. The only thing I couldn't provide, was some kind of a video showing off my way of working due to understandable factors. Mentioning the obvious fact of me being blind didn't phase people too much, at least it didn't have any negative effect, but also didn't generate that nasty tasting false positivity "we all know, how that goes". And so I got myself onto soundcloud and after some time got contacted by a local guy here in Estonia, who runs a small underground label as a kind of a hobby and asked if I was interested in having one of my tracks on a compilation record, to which I of course gave a positive answer. That planted a seed to a partnership, that goes on to this day. Yes, it's just an underground thing and doesn't really bring money in my pocket, but there are also no stringent contracts and limits to my activities, but instead I have found respect and friends in the community of electronic musicians up here, which gives opportunities for giggs and simply access to people with common interest. As I am a type of persone, who goes really deep into details on some narrow choice of subjects and doesn't really interact on other levels, so imitating an interest in a totally uninteresting topic is out of the question, as interacting in a circle of likeminded souls works more than good! So, what I'm trying to accent is this: find some, may-be smaller, but well connected group of those similar to you - obviously they don't have to be blind, and trust me on this, if you find your place in sutch a group, they won't leave you and might change your life in a positive way. I could ramble along on this one, but those knowing me understand, that my thresshold in regard to writing thoughts out is pretty low and a feeling of getting messy is creaping up, but at least I have stated my main point here.

Re: How you are spending your time?

Well, I spend most of the time at home anyway, so quarantine isn't really an issue here. Thing, that gets me messed up the most is not really knowing for sure, if the giggs/festivals/parties I'm supposed to play at will take place or not. Being on the spectrum makes coping with sutch uncertainty quite a duty, so I'm pretty messed up currently. Of course I have enough brainz not to bother the organizers of those events, since they don't know any better. So yeah, I'm still hoping to write some new tracks one day, it would really let my mind relaks and get away from this for a while, but as we know, creativity is a capritious animal and doesn't work in accordance with any rules or regulations. Anyway, let's all try to keep calm and stick to logical thinking and not run with those wild animals, who think it's the best to be scared and act crazy.
