Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS I don't see the problem here. For a company like Facebook to actually try something like this is pretty cool, in my opinion. That's coming from a person who isn't a fan of Facebook. The more companies that try stuff like this can only lead to progress. Bashing them for trying something new isn't going to help anything. Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS If the AI improves to the point of TapTapSee, then maybe it'll change my mind. But I don't think it'll get to the point of getting 100% accurate With its descriptions.Best Regards,Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=256268#p256268 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS Cinnamon, I have to agree. I don't know how one could expect the company that really has not been focused on web accessibility, refuses to let Manuel Cortez develop an accessible facebook app, and doesn't update the mobile site, to come out with a great picture ai at the first go. This is very experimental. Just like with Nether Wrelm with Injustice's accessibility mode, you wouldn't expect a fully voiced menu, every narrative being announced, stuff like that, would you? It comes with time, time in which people who aren't as educated on this as others can get more educated. I'll bet you a million bucks that facebook didn't get help from Tap Tap See on this ai, and is a completely new experiment for them. Give it time. I don't see how someone can be negative about it when it literally just! came out yesterday. It'll get better, and if anything facebook may add in the option to also add their own descriptions if they want. Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS [[wow]], so negative! Is this new feature the end all be all AI photo describer? No, but it's a step in the right direction. I've gotten descriptions such as tree, road, sky, outdoors in one image. personally, I'm excited to see where this wil go in the future, what tech Facebook can piggyback off of to make descriptions more detailed. I think it's a rough draft for now that hopefully will be refined in future. Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS Well, I heard the news since yesterday, it says it works for those who set there iOS language to English (United State), I have my iPod 5th gen set to English US, and this feature still doesn't work as it should. I'm curious to try this. Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS @CAE_Jones,Screenshots are easier to do than copy/paste. Why should people have to select text, copy it, and then paste it? It's a three step process whereas screenshots take a button or button combination and it's easier to send over certain media. You could argue that it's mostly a visual thing where a picture captures it all instead of copying the entirety of the text (an entire Facebook status, when it was posted, and the nunmber of reactions, for example).Best Regards,Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=256158#p256158 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS I remember TapTapSee people saying that it is not done by humans directly, but I imagine this is probably only technically true and they're using some sort of machine learning trick where they have humans describe as many images as possible, and let the network guess based on those responses whenever humans aren't available. (Or let humans do it when the software fails, whichever comes first, but as fast as it can be at times, and slow at others, I'm guessing it's a mix).Really, I just want Facebook to do OCR on all those text posts that are screenshots. Why do people even use screenshots instead of copy/paste? Is it a phone thing, or what? Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS
Re: Facebook's new AI, total BS See, this is why I like Twitter's approach better, because they have you do your own description. Remember, Luke, Facebook literally just kicked this off today, so you shouldn't be expecting much out of it anyway. What both of them should do, is let you do your own description, and since on Twitter the description is optional, if they don't add a description, then automatically use an ai. I also believe Tap Tap See has to be driven by humans in som way, because some of the image descriptions that come from it are extremely! detailed. Facebook's new AI, total BS
Facebook's new AI, total BS For those of you who don't know, Facebook unveiled its new technology that uses an AI to identify pictures. The feature has been slowly rolling out to users who use screen readers and in particular, iOS.I've encountered tens of shares on this feature that have been covered by multiple popular sources, and I got a chance to check out the hot new addition today. My thoughts? Total bogus.TapTapSee has been at this for much longer and still has issues. It, like Facebook, relies on solely artificial intelligence to recognize pixels in particular patterns to deliver a description of what is in the picture to the user. Google Imgaes runs off of the same work-around, with similar images coming up based on the way pixels are arranged and finds photos with similar patterns or structures. As far as I can tell, alternative text only appears when human faces are present, a quick "indoor or outdoor" dichotomous interpretation , and the quantity of faces. It doesn't give anything more than those factors, and it is without a doubt it is virtually useless.I'm sure most of us who use Facebook on iOS have seen this feature implemented; if not, you aren't missing out.Best Regards,Luke URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=256133#p256133 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
