I heard a great one last night @Simba.There was talk of putting fire engines on barges and float them down the Seine. Now I've no idea if that was a badly translated thing, por just wild speculation, orsince they did have fire boats out in the Seine and were pumping water from the river to fight the fire, but I'm not sure tying fire engines to barges would work all that wellya know, physics and flaoting and all that.

I'm having fun time already, and for your info, the best soundpack for ca out there right now is grifter's monkeyterm soundpack, which I don't have. Don't rely on the release time of my mush one, since whenever I set myself a deadline, I can't meet it. I'm better off without dead line to stress myself and try to get all scraps together or something. It's gonna take forever especially for event stuff. Grifter did better than me, and he has all the events programmed, when I'm far from basic completion.

Type autolevel, or autogain, it should turn it off, meaning that you need to level manually, but this allows you to complete all the quests. Also, I think you actually get kicked out at level 10, but keep in mind, if you miss quests, when you remort, you go back to level 1, so you can redo quests you missed your first time through.

I gave CyberAssault a try, because I wanted something different than the usual medieval or fantasy themes.I love it. It will give me an outlet when something frustrates me in real life, and I can kill mutant creatures.I am a predator, and my character is Maga.One note though, for anyone trying to connect to the Mud.You have to use a capital C and capital A when you type the website connection info.So CyberAssault.org.I tried connecting yesterday, but I used all lowercase letters, and I got all kinds of errors and disconnects.One question.Do I get kicked out of the starting town at level 5?I thought I read something on this thread about that.I just made a huge jump from level 1 to level 4, and I'm not even sure how I did it.I just want to be sure I can complete all the quests in that town before I go on.

I've said that you can craft weapons which level with you, but I don't know much else about the system besides that, though that is the sort of thing I mean, plus things like collection of rainbow items and lightsaber hilts etc.

What I'd be interested in for the db page particularly are the things that make Cyber assault unique as a game. yes, in all combat muds you fight stuff and do quests, and cyber assault has many, but any particularly interesting mechanics, sub systems, or extra activities such as crafting, random item drops, minigames etc, not to mention anything unique about the combat itself I haven't covered already.

Very weird. I've never had issues with connection before unless, rarely, the mud crashes. And btw Cyber Assault works with any client. There are two existing soundpacks out there, one for monkeyterm and one, maintained by me, for Mush.

Slash works even better than charge imo, if you have vibro blades installed. And...well that's something I've been considering bringing to the ims's attention. It's quite meh for unremorted people...though I actually find experience rather easy to come by. It sucks to find good area to run that gives you full cap at higher mort though.

Yeah, I can certainly vouch for the mega chain gun, but at least when I had it, I had to get help in getting it. Even then though, it was either use charge as much as I possibly could in a fight to deal as much damage before I'd gotten killed, or I also found that you could sometimes soften some of the NPCs down a bit with explosives. Most things that required you soften them with giving a timed mine to them ended up still being to mean though and they'd just beat the crap out of me, even when I'd taken their hp down. You also have to be careful that an NPC you give a mine to doesn't come into your room after you've given it to him, else the explosion will definitely upset your day. All the same, the game does have some really neat areas, weapons, etc, I just think that it needs to be seriously re-balanced in making some of the areas work for pre-mort l
 eveling to make it more fun for starting out. I think that once you were to make it through two morts though, things would really open up in areas you could safely run and the game would be super fun then.Take care.

The Mega chaingun, or anything with grenade effect ammo if you manage. Grenade ammoes are usually sold around black market, but it's a pain to access and stay around at remort x2 or lower (but of course you can survive and even buy stuff, if you're quick or have someone back you up).There're many good weapons out there, for both melee and range. Leveling something nice makes it way better, if iit can be levelled.

where did all of you who've passed the first mort level? Also, does anyone know of a no remort high damage gun? I have a melee weapon that lets me do about 12-14K of damage counting things like charge and bioslash but everything in it's mother is aquiring massive resistance to physical damage and sanc, so it's more like 2-3K. I Can switch to a lofco laser, but it's garbage and the only thing going for it is that it can take down sanc if I can stay alive long enough but ideally I would like a high damage gun so I don't have to keep switching weapons and getting murdered in the time it takes me to switch.

You got quite a lot of point there, boomstick. Area level range usually include remort too, and so far we can't actually tell besides "consider" how tough thhey are, which sometimes can be untrusworthy. Quests are sorta like that, some at least, and that's why we usually do it only whenwe're ready and have stuff prepared.

I didn't plan to get you on skype so that I could help you, Dark. We were just there and were already set to group help you on Cyber Assault at any moment. We were on the newbie channel trying to help you thhat day, but you just got frustrated about something and logged out. Trying something out by yourself is really a good way to go, and that also means you have to pay double attention to your surroundings, look at things, read the description, talk to npcs...I find it quite meh that you don't know about master fabricator just two east of the armory, since 99% of newbs I've helped knew about it as a general knowledge.Yes, you can get back to high point at any moment below level 15. I have to admit though it's super easy to be left out of that place after you're done with the nekker quest, but usually unless you accidentally get fame from maryville or kill the nekker yourself, which mean you've already been through bootcamp, you won't leve
 l as fast as that. I'm going to see if I can figure out with ims to make it more newbie friendlier.

I kinda used to do too sometimes back when I was quite new. I can manage fine now, and usually don't do it unless I gather enough of what's required to complete it, or in case it's mob, when I'm quite certain I can take on it. That's one reason why quest list number and quest progress commands exist. The only downside of a quest though, is if a quest crashes by bugs or by whatever, you'll need an im's help to fix it, which they usually do. You're limited to one quest at a time, so take whatever you're ready for, and explore as much as you can to learn about where is what, for the expanding of your in-quest knowledge.

The reason I hesitate in adding this one into the db is the super fast and spammy combat. As far as the database goes it actually doesn't matter whether  you or I anyone else likes a mud, it is to do with what access features are implemented in the game, and in cyber assault thus far I'm not seeing  much  beyond prompt customization, which most games have anyway, since while I have the screen reader toggle turned on it doesn't really seem to change much, especially as far as combat spam goes (and combat in this game is faster than most).This is actually same reservation I have with Epitaff mud. if I'm missing something about the combat display please let me know, or is this one like Star conquest i.e just possible with a soundpackAs regards my personal experiences in the mud, one reason I accepted the quest is that I can't see what a quest  is without accepting it. And if one is not meant to quest in the area
  where one starts (which actually is within newbie level range), then where the hell are you supposed to go in this game as a new player? Again I do wonder if I suffer a bit too much from missing high point which presumably would've pointed me towards newbie friendly areas after completing it.Again advice would be helpful.

Cabs aren't really useful in my opinion. The only time I use a cab is if I want to go to New Brooklin AKA the fifth element, which is accessible only via cabs.

@mata, I have seen ambush skill, but it seems a lot of the basic skills at start like dead aime and ranged tactics just give extra damage etc, and you just type ambush at the start of the game. Obviously the higher level you are the more skills you get,  but where most muds at least at your starting class give you a skill or spell or two to play with, for example in Erion archers start off with ability to shoot at a distance, in Ca it seems far less of that sort of thing which makes combat fairly dull the moment. Maybe it was me choosing a mercenary I don't know.I will try some more quests and bionics, though right now I'm limited what gear shopkeepers will sell to me, I suspect I need to do more quests.

I don't have any trouble with combat spam at all, for some reason. May be it's because I'm use to it or something, even when it wasn't scripted to gag some lines.And it's not that Ca lacks of strategy. You sure do more than just type "kill" and wait for the combat to end. You have things to do, you just need to find it. Bioslash is one thing, stun at level 32 is one thing, ambush is also one thing, not to say class specific skills you can use, like backstab, like circle, assassinate, whistle, psi blah blah blah, leap attack and all those out there (except may be preds, but preds have enough on their own to not have that many skills like othersman, where did you get that "kill that and wait" idea from, when you see complete list of skills you can learn? I'm curious now.

Although there are not many skills for combat and combat can be pretty spammy, I believe there is a way to make it not display the damage in numbers and just the strings, though not sure what the toggle was. You should get yourself some bionics, like the eye, neural implant, vascular, stuff like that, but most importantly, vibro blades, because they allow you to use the 'slash' command to do more damage than you'd do normaly without using any skill. help bionics gives more info, and the bionic shop is pretty easy to find, 3 south, east and north from the helipad. You will also want to buy some buff drinks from the master fabricator 2 east from the armory. Just give him 5 units and he'll drop a buff drink, then pick it up. Drink  them in battle when you get hurt. Also, if you want some quest suggestions, try Shaniqua's quest, the quest at the Hotel Morgan Reception and bar, and also use loftco equipment from the vending machines that can be found i
 n a lot of places on the map, including the Motown sonicrail station. Hope that helps.

Well I went on today, accept I'm a little disappointed. I kept getting those rainbow things from quests, like the aqua sphere and the clear spindle and such,  and was saving them up however now all the ones I had seem to have vanished. I also wonder if there is a compare command since I keep picking up junk. I've got a scanner and can scan things but don't necessarily know if what I pick up is an improvement or not on what I'm wearing at the time. I also confess I'm finding the lack interesting abilities and such in combat a bit wearing at this stage, since basically I'm just running around typing "kill" whatever and waiting on the combat, especially because it seems the gaps between levels are getting longer, I needed 100 k xp and at roughly a thousand per kill that is quite a lot of monsters, though in fairness that is one area questing does seem to make a difference, and I'll certain go and look at finding so
 me more quests now I have finished delray's. Edit: Okay I am officially a stupid head! .I forgot I picked up a second dusty backpack so I was looking in 1.backpack in stead of 2.backpack, all my rainbow items and other stuff were in there. That is a relief. That being said, it still seems progression is a wee bit slow in terms of pure kill rate, and lack of skills to use does make things feel a wee bit grindy. I am also not %100 sure on combat speed with this one even with my voice speed pretty high, even as compared to other combat intensive games like Aardwolf, that is one thing I do wonder about in terms of giving this one a db entry, for example you still get all the damage condition messages for your enemy each and every round even with combat spam filter on. Yes I know you can script for these, but as I said in the top five muds topic, muds t
 hat require scripting for access don't belong in the db (not that people shouldn't play them just that they're not %100 accessible).I actually like how the aardwolf filters do here since you can have the hole combat round in two bits of text, still get your spell description but the complete damage from both your spell or ability and your melee hit in one go, and also config your prompt to just show you and the enemy's hp as a percentage, meaning you get all the atmosphere of "your enemy does nasty stuff to you" with the other details in as condensed form as possible.

Actually that was one thing I did like in the game, every npc seemed to have quests to do, yet you didn't  to type "ask bob about three headed unicorns" or some other weerd phrase to start them. Players also seemed good  for sharing qinfo too.

So I just joined last night. The game looks pretty cool, though when choosing my name I didn't realize I was on that screen and typed create, thinking I had to type create to create a character, not sure how to change that. @Skylord, try help prompt and help display. I myself like my prompt to show hp so I can keep track of how damaged I am, especially in fights, but  mileage may vary.I also personally  a percentage figure to an actual number for things like hp since that makes it easier to listen tto but I don't think Ca had that option, still you should be able to find something you want,  or indeed nothing if you prefer. I will say I don't like the factthat combat seems very quick and you have to get by cutting atmospheric info, but this is a general thing in a lot of games where combat rounds are particularly quick.

there's a shop very near where you start where you can get an identifyer from.  then the lofco vending machines found all over the place such as in the hotel south of recall are great for starting gear.  Look around and ask if you have any questions.  death is hardly an issue on this game, as you don't drop your corpse.

It was probably one of the quick codes i put in hastily before releasing it and forgot to fix.Dark, if you have something you wonder, help files are your friend. @mata, I appreciate the assistance, but at least until I've got a little more of how this mud works it would probably be better for me to look where to find or modify my own gear since I gather gear is a specialist thing here with crafting and levelling weapons and what not, still pointers on where to go or what to aim for might help. For example I'd like the identify thing and at least an idea of what to aim at in gear. That in fact is one thing In alter I found considerably easier after playing a caster as compared to my first attempt with a cleric warrior combo, since I basically could just go for druid cast levels mana regen and int and ignore all other stat bonuses, though of course for the db it si probably a good idea of me knowing how some of the specialist eq stuff in ca works even if eq balancing isn't my favourite part of rpgs.

Ambush was one of the things I learned since shooting weapons are fun .I don't have any bionics yet, indeed I still need the identify thingy so that I can identify tiems as I have picked up tings and don't know what they do or if they are any good to use. On the plus side I've done the newbie guide quest and the spider killing quest, which was rather easy, though the next one of delray's quests in the giant cockroach quest and he says something about obtaining glasses to make me see better, so I probably need to go and find the armourer first before doing that one.

learn ambush and type ambush whoever  to start battle. type bionics to get more info about bionics. starter's Bionics are sold 3s, 1e, 1n from the helipad. more powerful ones are found in your exploration of course.

Hmmm, well first oh dear, it seems I chose a mercenary without thinking. In fairness I don't know when I created this char account so hay. Also it seems due to creating an account in the wrong place I got transported to mo town instead of the newbie area at high point which was a little bad, but as 14 or so levels in I might as well continue.On the plus side I did find the merc guild and get some skills. On the down side, I still don't have any techniques to use and am get slaughtered while trying to do delray's quest, I think I need more gear, though I've not found these vibro blades. one thing I do notice in the game is that it doesn't have the usual practice system which is interesting, ie, you don't learn techniques to a percentage, you just seem to learn them and that is that. either way back to the drawing board.

Hello.I've been playing CA for a few years now and have tried almost all the classes, but I have to say I like predator the most, because predators have really good equipment, and unlike borg, they got some useful psionics like astral projection, locate object, teleport, summon, portal and stuff like that. I suggest you try playing that class, it's a pretty good class and I can help you with some gear if you'd like. Also, the most immportant skills are combat tactics (melee and ranged combat tactics), ambush, charge, and also once you reach level 10, you should consider getting vibro blades, it's a bionic that allows you to use the 'slash' command to do more damage in combat. As for Highpoint, You recall to Highpoint before you reach level 8 I believe, after that you will recall to Motown. you type hail and you have to wait man. and if you misspell the destination patern, you'll end up somewhere you don't want..i nearly never use taxi tbh. The insurance aren't sold at the mortician, but the gm one up and one north from there. And Dark...go to the predator planet, find the huntmaster and type prac to see what you can prac. Type prac that thing to practice it. I'm not sure why you even got stuck man. It's not hard to figure at all. And for the newbie guide, the thing is there's a quest at dell that you can accept that requires you to give the guide to him. type quest progress to check first if you have the quest in progress (you can have only one quest at a time). If you're not on any quest, you can just run that guide again and accept the quest at dell and do it. some quests can deduct your qp if you leave...some quests say so, but don't do anything (the imms here like teasing players lol).And post 9, you can fix yourself
  anytime if you happen to screw yourself. It's nothing at all actually.

I love this mud.  Some of the areas, such as resident evil or absolutely fantastic .  There's also a really interesting crafting system which I haven't played with yet, as well as weapons that you can level up.  There is no way to delete all restart characters as far as I know, however it is very difficult to completely screw yourself over from what I'm told .  .

Well I've been running around, doing quests and such however I'm finding a few things that are odd, and I still! don't know what the heck to spend practices on. First, the taxi thing didn't work. I asked on the newbie channel and was told the command was "hail" but typing hail on it's own didn't do any good. I don't seem to be able to choose a class until level 40. That is okay since i'm levelling quickly and getting quest points and such, but I'm not finding combat or the game that interesting thus far because firstly I have no abilities to use meaning I'm just typing "kill" and waiting, and second I don't know what equipment to use or what to buy, again lots of options, no clear idea of what does what, though I believe I need to buy a scanner or something. I'm also a bit confused as to areas since I'm told I should be as a newbie ins eomwhere called "high point" and
  yet I'm in a destroyed town called mo town which I understand is the main hub zone of the game,  hmmm, most weird. I also remember when I went through the bootcamp tutorial zone being told to give the newbie guide I found to delray, the chap in the library, and yet I gave it to him and nothing happened.then I got killed and have no idea why exactly, I just ran into a mob that instakilled me, which probably wouldn't have happened I could know where to find a semi good weapon or use some abilities, either way combat still seems a little quick and spammy to me, even with the fight spam and blind filters. I also couldn't find where to buy insurance, I went to the mortician in the hospital, but all he was selling was healing stuffOn the plus side for someone who likes lots of quests there are certainly lots in this game, indeed nearly every npc seems to be a quest master which looks good, plus of course there are random collection and item q
 uests that Alteraeon doesn't have which could break up the kill fest, and I do think the class progression could be interesting once Iactually get to know what to use my practices on and have some things to do.Of course these are teething troubles, though I will confess I'm finding cyber assault less newbie friendly than most muds, or at least less easy to know where to get stuck in to the aspects of the game.

nope, mushclient, mush-z in particular. I can guarantee it works well with mush-z, since it's what I use to code.And Dark, type prac, you'll see all of what you can train. don't spend all of your pracs train all of them though. You'd never have enough. combat tactics stuff is important, and don't train weapon type speciality yet (like explosive weapon or automatic weapon and all in that group, except the lead proficiency). @Mata, cool, thanks for the class breakdown there. I actually like the idea that the game just as classes and tiers rather than races as well, that way you try out the different classes but not get stuck with an annoying race/class combo, plus you only have one class at a time to play with (really sometimes multiclassing can be a bad thing). it is a toss up between predator and caller I think for me, though I am tempted to go predator as I like ranged weapons in muds much as I do enjoy minians. One question I do have is which skills to practice? since as I said I have a tonne of pracs and not really much idea what to do with them. Other things I'll find out as I go. Btw, I forgot to ask the soundpack is for vipmud right?

Preds can't use many psionics, but can utilize many things. They also have some of the most powerful gear on Ca too. (every class does, just pred's are easier to find).Stalker: as I said, and as Dark said, it's one of the best newbie friendly as well, and also have quite easy gears to find, though harder than preds imo.Borg: killing machine, powerful but lack of psi ability. Holds some of the easiest to find gears as well.caller: mutant druids lol. If you don't know how to properly utilize your minion calling abilities and psi enhancement abilities, this class can be hard. But if you play it right, deadly, very deadly.Crazy: the hardest to solo, but the most powerful when it comes to psionics. You play it wrong, it's more than hell of a crap. You play it right, it
 9;s your killer.Highlander: This class is..well, hardcore. But doesn't mean you'll die that easily though. You have to be beheaded a  hundred time and you're gone. When your remort, your life essence is restored to 100. So basically it's just "don't spam death and get beheaded 100 times per remort or else you'll be wiped" kind of class. Highlanders are very deadly, however, and they hold some of the most powerful levelable bm gears. (I'm not gonna tell you what bm is, not on here.:p)
