If you wish to combine the two mods, then you must create a mod that is a hybrid of the two packs. The reason why the game gives an error is because one mod doesn't know about the new unit. You must copy the definition of said unit into the mod folder.

Hello everyone!I read the guide to creating maps, and came to the conclusion that alas, I cannot create my own maps.I want to try and modify some existing ones. it turns out a little.I am interested in this question!Is it possible to somehow add a unit from the crazyambiance mod to the crazymod mod?I want to experiment with units and their capabilities.if you just write the name of the unit into the map, then the game gives an error.how to make it real?Thank you all for your answer!Sorry for not very good spelling in English.

Mod creation process for Sound RTS

Hey guys,I have recently came back along with a friend of mine to the good old classic of Sound RTS. We were the most particularly fascinated by Blitzkrieg mod as the variable stats which controlled the outcome of the battle, the possible strategies which could be undertaken while on the offensive and defensive, as well as the great variety of units along with their skills which seemed much more broad and interesting than the traditional form of Sound RTS made it so amazing and we were so hyped to play it again and again, almost every day!We thought that the only way to go forward, promote Sound RTS and increase it's replay value is to make another mod to add to this accessible yet very clever collection of cruelly and frighteningly efficient strategy-based warfare masterpieces.We are not sure however, where to start.How do we switch the text and change names of units?Would we have to do a lot of adding apart from editing?What else would we exactly have to edit in terms of strategies, stats of certain vehicles, soldiers, what so ever?And many other things which at this point I am not even sure of,  but might be worth knowing.Ultimately, I would like to understand where is the text file to edit and create new names of units and places such as supply stash, but of course with a bit of a different name and maybe different effect on each and every new type of unit.I hope I am not waffling too much, I just have a vision and was wondering if anyone would want to collaborate with us and we could metaphorically sell the idea to them, or could they give us pointers how to do the things i mentioned above and more to make it great.if you would like to communicate with me in private, shoot me an email at:djsenter...@gmail.comThanks.

OK guys,I don't know if I've posted here or if I did something wrong, you can move it to the decired place. Thanks and sorry for the annoyance.Anyway, so a fiew days ago, I was just talking on the SoundRTS chat google group with the developer and other guys on there. I was telling the developer if I really missed something on the development or if it have been stopped. He said that has stopped fore some time.I was asking if the development being stopped was because Python 2.7.x was beeing discontinues since this year?He's still thinking if he wants to port it, or reprogram it from scratch (as I say in my language (literally) "reprogram from 0") to Python 3. He said that if reprogram or port it will have more functions or something.If you can help the developer or collaborate with him, or eaven if you want to develope a longside him, or aport some ideas, you can do it here.

I run a server on Ubuntu 19.04. Modify the SoundRTS.ini file under the user directory and change the name to whatever you like as discussed in post 2.In order to run the server, I recommend creating a new screen instance by typing screen -S soundrts or any name you like. If you don't have screen installed on your system, type sudo apt-get install screen or whatever other package manager you use. This creates another terminal window. Now navigate to the folder with the game and type python server.py to launch the server. It should bring up a command line window saying the server is registered. If that doesn't work, install Pygame and Python 2.7 by typing sudo apt-get install python2.7 and sudo apt-get install python-pygame.At this point, you can leave the server running indefinitely. It will register in the server list hosted on the official website and anyone can connect to play. Press control a and then d to disconnect from the second terminal instance while keeping it open. It's vital that you do this or else the server will be shut down if you close your SSH session. Of course, you'll need to open TCP port 2500 in your firewall to let people connect.This works much better than hosting a server from your computer. As for the Linux client, I've never been able to make it work. I get an error when I try to run the game file and no one will help me. It's probably easier to play on Windows until someone compiles versions for macOS and Linux.

Unable to run Sound RTS on Ubuntu Mate 18.04

Hi all,I'm trying to run Sound RTS on Ubuntu Mate 18.04 LTS. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work. I've installed pygame-python and made sure Python2.7 was installed. However, the soundrts.py file won't run. I even tried chmod +x soundrts.py, but this doesn't help. When I run the file, I get a screen asking if I want to run or display the script. When I choose run, nothing happens.I have tested this with the latest 1.2 Continuous 12 version, as well as the old 1.2 Alpha 10 one, with the same result. How do I get Sound RTS to run in Linux?

However, the soundrts.py file won't run. I even tried chmod +x soundrts.py, but this doesn't help. When I run the file, I get a screen asking if I want to run or display the script. When I choose run, nothing happens.I have tested this with hte latest 1.2 Continuous 12 version, as well as the old 1.2 Alpha 10 onne, with the same result. How do I get Sound RTS to run in Linux?

To find sounds, check out the stickied post in the developers room.Then you'll need a program that can convert WAV and MP3 files to ogg format.  I just use Audacity or Goldwave my self, but I'm sure you can find something more lightweight.Now, if your using SoundRTS 1.2 onward, E.G. (it has crazymod) then you'll need to go into mods\crazymod\ui and check style.txt to see which sound goes with what action.  The numbers your looking for should always be in the 77000 or 78000 range, so they are easy to spot, and you can hopefully use the find command to search for specific things though, a fare amount of it is in French.Everything in style.txt will correspond to a file in the sounds folder in the same directory, so you can always double check if your unsure.  Now you can just replace the sounds with your own.Though I do suggest making a backup of the original sounds so that you can easily replace them if something goes wrong, and keep in mind that for the action sounds, you'll need to cut the file to match the timing, or change the timing in rules.txt which can be found in mods\crazymod, though keep in mind that doing this will also change how the game plays.  Regardless, it may be a good idea to check the exact time in that file so that you can more easily cut your sound to that length.If your using a version of Sound RTS before V1.2, E.G. (without crazymod) then you'll find rules.txt in the main directory and style.txt and the sound files in the sounds directory.  But the files will have a much wider number range.

Get workers, make workers gather resources, have some workers build structures.  Slowly expand.   granted, though I know how the game should be played, I'm really bad at planning the best locations to place defensive structures, how fast to build up units vs buildings and upgrades, and messing around with the entirety of the unit transports.  If I can observe how a few people play, and get better at micromanaging, I might beat a large map with all aggressive CPU's, let alone players.

Hi,So I have been playing Sound rts with the blits mod and the crazymod just for some different fun However, the manual for the crazy mod seems to be leading to a 404 error on dropbox.Does someone have it,and would mind posting it here?on a different note,Now wouldn't a 18th century mod be cool? I.E cavalry similar to nights,but heavy and light, musket companys or regiments along with rifles,and artillery 12 24 36 pounders.yeah, I blame all those Richard sharpe novels I have been rereading...Grryf

hi,I have just picked up this game again from about a 5 year absence and was surprised to see all the many changes.the stuff that interested me most was the mods people made, in particular the world war mods, my question is, how do I install them to the game? I have looked everywhere for a read me on how to install these mods but so far I have had no luck.also is there an how to file on creating maps? again I tried searching google for this information but came to a dead end.

In your mod you should include a "ui" folder, which should contain a "sounds" folder and a file called "styles.txt". Sounds are handled by the styles.txt file, look at the default one (in res) or that of the crazymod as an example. To add a sound you use "noise repeat", can't remember what the first number is but I think it's the interval between repeats of the sound, followed by the name of the sound file.As for your suggestion, I agree that would be very useful. I wish someone would take up development of the game again, it's really good as is but it has the potential to be much better.

Hi all.I have spent a lot of times, many hours to fix the bugs, which made the server unstable. I'm sorry for all the trouble. I hope those who tried to connect wanna give it a try again. I didn't noticed it the first many times it happened, both because of the weird message people were getting, but also because that only happened when I was logged out of the server. But this is now fixed, which not just means a hopefully stable server, but also many more stable servers in the future.So again, I hope you wanna give this a try, and please post your feedback here in the topic.Feel free to send me more maps when you get the time to do so.Have an awesome weekend.

yeah i like it where you have to explore and explore to find stuff. I don't mind big maps at all. I used to play this game cosacks and the map had a fog of war affect. whereby unless you were there you didn't actually know what was there. you could choose the size of the map and I always went for the mega huge maps.

We made some maps that we play on; the standard maps were made when the game was very different so most are a problem to play on now.At SLJ: I know on public servers people are not allowed to make a game with only themselves and AIs, there must be at least two human players. Maybe this is what people were trying to do? I have no idea though, just speculating.

Hi.There are many maps, but I'm not sure how big they are. But you can make your own maps.Something is not working as it should on my server. For this reason, the server is very unstable. I wander why people haven't informed me about this. I at leased know what the issue is, and I'm working to fix that. The server might work, but I promise it'll be fixed as soon as possible.
