Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Family Finder Success Lesson Learned
Cheri, Thank you for this heads up..Patsy and I have a MALE cousin, one of two left that are a direct line with the Vieira-Anselmo line. He has agreed to do the DNA during the next sale. Our family started out with 9 brothers from Sao Miguel, and now we are down to only 2 remaining male grandsons. Of course, there are plenty of females! Needless to say, we were anxiously waiting for the next sale. This is great news for us. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Family Finder Success Lesson Learned
I don't know if they will have a sale in April for DNA Day. The last 3 or so years, they've had the Sizzling Summer Sale. The last 6 or 7 years, they've had the Holiday Sale at the end of the year. Only once they did DNA Day. Don't know how much of a money maker it was for them. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] help with search on de Rego, de Viveiros Pertana, Medeiros, Faria
Joanne, There's aren't census records like the United States and Canada. To find baptism, marriage, and death records for people born in the 1870s or before you can order that on film from your local FHC for Ponta Garca and Livramento and look them up. If you go to the Azores, you'll need to go to the archive in Ponta Delgada. They may just hand you the film that you could view at home. The baptism and marriage may or may not have the street name. There will not be an address. You may have to ask around to see if anyone remembers where the Resendes, Medeiros, etc family lived back then. You may or may not get lucky. RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Need help with record
Hi Pam, This is what I read on 2 Jan 1744 Francisco Tavares widower of Maria de Pimentel buried in this parish and church married Antonia de Pimentel daughter of Pedro de Ponte being deceased and Teresa Gouveir. I would say that this is them I would guess the scribe may have been confused and may have got the names wrong. I have seen it before. Francisco parents would be on the record of his first marriage or perhaps on the baptisms of his children. Need verification that is says his parents were Francisco Tavares and Maria De Pimentel and in the body it shows Antonia's name as Antonia De Pimentel parents Pedro De Ponte and Theresa Gouveia. I had three of their children's marriages and it shows her using Gouveia. I found the same three children with her using Gouveia, Ponte, and Pimentel.
