Hi All and Marcio,

Marcio you have a good memory for Santa Maria People.

This is what I have I have:

Baltazar Gomes #1 born about 1635 in Vila do Porto died 1712 in Azenhas. No
wife. He has 4 children born in SE.

Including Baltzar Gomes Velho, AKA Baltazar Gomes Moura #2who marries Barbara
Velho Moura aka Barbara Faleiro. Baltazar and Barbara have a bunch of kids.

Including Baltazar Gomes Moura#3 who married Isable Fontes AKA Isabel Sousa.
They have 8 children.

Including Baltazar Gomes Moura #4 aka Baltazar Gomes Freitas who marries
Mariana Melo. They have two children that I found.

So in fact there are more than 2 Baltazrs in this line.

Maria Elena,

Yes, check out the bundle prices here: goo.gl/V0dHk3

Find the one that fits your budget.

If you need to skimp, then order a lesser marker YDNA test if you are doing
a bundle. You can upgrade to more markers later. FTDNA most likely will
have their Holiday Sale at the end of the year.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] DNA "Basics" question

2016-08-11 Thread Cheri Mello
Maria Elena,
There is no kit in the Azores DNA project under your email address. So I
can't answer your question with 100% certainity without seeing the tree
attached to the kit and which test(s) were done.

Once FTDNA runs a test (any test), they store the vials for at least 25
years. No, the results from one test can't be used for another, but the
vials can be pulled and a different type of DNA test run from those vials.

If your husband's father's father's father's father was Sebastiao Jacome de
Resendes (The top of his pedigree chart), then log into your husband's DNA
page, look for the blue UPGRADE button towards the upper right corner,
click it, and look for YDNA 37 or 67. You can do 111 if it's in your
budget. The Y37 or Y67 will get you into a genealogical time frame. You
could always order less markers and add on more later.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] DNA "Basics" question

2016-08-11 Thread Tish M
Maria,
I think the question you are asking is: If I get Family Finder DNA testing
with ftDNA, do they use the same DNA you gave them in the first place to do
Y testing? If that is your question, the answer is yes. If you are talking
monetarily, each test price is separate unless they bundle certain tests to
get more people to participate.
I see you are interested in your husband's patrilineal line. If that is
your only interest Y testing would be the course to take.
When most of us talk about finding "cousins" it gets very complicated. We
are not just talking about finding straight patrilineal lines or straight
matrilineal lines. We are including the marriages, too. We have one mother
and father, two grandmothers and grandfathers, four great grandmothers, and
grandfathers, etc. Our DNA includes "cousins" from all of these people. If
you have an interest in finding out all of your genealogy, I would think
Family Finder would be the test you would find most useful.
I hope this helps,
Tish

[AZORES-Genealogy] Marriage of Manuel Pereira Evangelho and Maria Theresas do Coracao de Jesus - Sao Matues (Pico) - 1845

2016-08-11 Thread Mary Pimentel Wheeler
Hello friends - I'm having trouble deciphering this marriage record. Sorry
- it's a tough one!

It's on the bottom of the first page and flows over to the top of the 2nd
page.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-MD-SAOMATEUS-C-1795-1846/PIC-MD-SAOMATEUS-C-1795-1846_item1/P219.html

Here's what I picked out - any help correcting this or adding to it would
be much appreciated.

Husband: Manuel (Pereira?) Evangelho, son on Jose (Pereira?) Evangelho and
Anna Francisca ;

Wife: Maria Theresa do Coracao de Jesus, daughter of (can’t read t this
line or next, maybe Joao Pereira? da Rosa..?..and his wife Theresa Rosa???)

Natives of Sao Mateus (I assume this means the couple getting married are
natives?)

Date of marriage – is it 20 June 1845?

Thanks friends!

MAry

is on the line of my husband, Paul Lima.

So as the results of the family finder DNA Cannot be used for "any other"
information, then if I want the "Y" test does that mean if I want to trace the
paternal line way way back, do we sign up all over again requesting only the
"Y" test? I somehow thought one kept paying more money and they could extract
more info based on the first DNA test (the autosomal). But it sounds like we
take another (the Y) test separate from the family finder test. (?)

Thanks for being patient with my question.

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] DNA "Basics" question

2016-08-11 Thread Richard Francis Pimentel
Yes Maria DNA can be confusing. Only a male can be tested for his Y- DNA woman
do not carry the Y Chromosome so they cannot be tested. The Family finder test
sample can be used to test the Y-DNA only if it came from a male. The results
of the Family finder test cannot be used for any other information.

I hope this helps
