[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Family Tree DNA "Holiday Reward" coupons

2016-11-22 Thread robertjm
PayPal fees for domestic transactions are generally 3%, or thereabouts, so
they're not really that much more than standard banks.

The trick with foreign transactions is there's a conversion fee to change the
currency into US Dollars, not to mention the transaction fees.

That's more likely why they don't want to deal with the hassles.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Help conpleting Óbito translation

2016-11-22 Thread linda
Hi Sue,

I see "...os Divinos Sacrament.os Ig.r ser quase repentina sua morte..."
and with google translate's help, I interpret that as "the Divine
Sacraments of the Church [because] her death was nearly sudden". I can't
transliterate the second section that you asked about, but my impression is
it says something along the lines of: "she was accompanied by
[someone/representative] from the town, from the Reverendo Collegio of the
Matriz"--that is,someone from one of the lay brotherhoods whose members
participated in religious ceremonies went with her body as it was carried
to her grave. Perhaps someone with a better eye can confirm or correct
this.

hope that helps,

Linda

That's right. Thanks. From I could tell, they did not record his burial at
the time so they had to confirm his death so that Umbelina could marry her

Hi Carmen,
This record
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-VF-PONTAGARCA-O-1788-1825/SMG-VF-PONTAGARCA-O-1788-1825_item1/P93.html

said that João Inacio de Souza was burried on 1801, october (no day date). This
record is a sentence of the parish priest who did it by request of Umbelina
Jacinta. The sentence date is 1807, 14 march. The correct date of the marriage
of Umbelina Jacinta with Francisco da Costa is 1807, 15 march (not 14
march). Then, before her 2nd marriage, Umbelina Jacinta needed a sentence to
confirm her 1st husband is died.

  It appears

someone forgot to enter the obito of Joao Inacio Sousa in

the records of Ponta Garca. So, by order of the district

Reverendo, a record was entered stating that he died in
 Oct

of 1801. The order was made March 12- 1807, just before

Umbelina Jacinta married a second time to Francisco da
 Costa

  on March 15- 1807.

  Also

who are the ancestors that lead to Jacinto Luis and Teresa

de Jesus. It may help to trace your ancestors. Sometimes

people carry names forward that do not appear in their

official records until much later. For example your Joao

Inacio [cc Francisca de Jesus] was AKA Joao Inacio da
 Costa

  or Joao Inacio da Rocha.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Family Tree DNA "Holiday Reward" coupons

2016-11-22 Thread João Ventura
Yes, I agree.

However, I'm guessing they want to discourage people paying with Paypal..
Their processing fees are a bit higher than other payment options.
