I would think all you have to do is tab & it should start to read or after

Thanks,

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Initial setup of new computer

Hi,

I have a new windows7 64 bits computer ready to fire up. As you know,
Jaws is not installed yet.
My question is this. Can I being blind do the initial setup using
narrator? If so, since I never use narrator, can someone give me some
guidance on how to use the narrator in a windows 7 OS environment? I
do have some basic ideas what to expect, but sighted help is not
possible even though my wife could be of some help. She is very
reluctant since she is afraid of screwing something up.

I would like to be able to do the setup with narrator so I can get to
the point to install Jaws. If the opinion from the list don't think
that this is possible, then I will have to call someone to do the setup for
me.

Thanks for any advice and suggestions. I appreciate any help that I
can get. Take care.

Lennie

Any more accessible way to get around in the Notification area to

I downloaded 3 NLS books from BARD to copy to and unzip to the book

I received a "disk is write-protected" error. I was instructed to unprotect
the disk/device..
I used to know how to do that with floppy disks. I've never seen that error
on a USB device and, certainly, never on a NLS cartridge.
I'm sure this is not a cartridge with a prerecorded book from NLS. It has
the last book I downloaded still on it.

Do I need to do something in the NLS player?
Any ideas?

Hello there;
Yes, the rip cd button is hard to find the first time,
After you insert your cd, and the music starts to play,
Ctrl+s=stop,
Now, when you tab you should hear;
Go to library button,
Now tab once,
If you hit the applications key, you should see such things as,

Show list
Full screen Alt+Enter
Shuffle Ctrl+H
Repeat Ctrl+T
Visualizations
Video
Enhancements
Lyrics, captions, and subtitles
Shop for more music...
Always show Now Playing on top
More options...
Help with playback...

So enter on more options...
Here you can make some changes,
Now if you just press escape key, you should be able to shift+tab you will
hear;

Go to library button, now tab the rip button should be their.

The rip button definitely will sho up after the first time.

The device looks very much like an old-fashioned small recorder but
with some features that look different. I discovered that there's a
button or switch that will make it play the other side of a tape
without having to turn it over. As I mentioned, it gets it's power via
a USB Port. It came with software, the Cassette to CD Wizard that
guides you through the process. I can access some of their options
with Jaws 12, but I don't see the record button, unfortunately.
Interestingly enough, the seller sends Audacity on a CD. Maybe that's
what the Wizard uses?

Hello;
Using IE9,
When you press enter on a download link;
You will hear;
Notification requires response,
Here you would press alt+n,
Now if you use your tab key, you would see;
Run button,
Save button,
Cancel button.
So, the save button will download the file into the default folder.
However, if you wish to change the default folder,
You can press,
Ctrl+j
Now using tab key move to options link and press enter.
Here you will find a browse button,
If you either shift+tab, or tab your way, you will come to a tree-view,
Now you can arrow and choose
Hopefully this will get you started,
