Re: CFMX 7.0.1 and MS SQL 2005

2006-04-26 Thread Mike Kear
G'day Dave, thanks for your suggestion. Yes that's what Im doing for
uploads - backing up to my own PC then FTP the backup to the site,
then lodge a support ticket for the support guy to restore it to the
site.

But it's a hassle, and I would rather have a way to do it myself
without needing support guys to do it for me.

In the other direction, where I need to make a local copy of a
database on line, I can't do a backup myself - the database doesnt
give permissions high enough for that. So again i have to ask teh
support guy to take an additional backup (he is supposed to be doing
it every night - I'm assuming he is) and put it on the site somewhere
for me to pick up by FTP later.

But again, that's a real hassle and it would be far better if i can
find a practical way to get copies of databases myself whenever i
like.

Is DTS no longer in MSSQL 2005?

Yes, Aaron, it's true, strictly speaking, DTS is no longer in
SQLServer. HOWEVER

SQL2K DTS packages can be still used, and there has recently been an
editor released for them, so you can convert them to work with
SQLServer2005, but you can't create new ones.

Instead, DTS has been replaced with a more flexible, more powerful
application called SSIS. More flexible, More powerful means it's a
programming language thing more complex than rocket science, and the
documentation was written by Microsoft Techies, which means it's
virtually unreadable. There are some tutorials around, adn some
included in Books Online but not one of them involves moving data
between databases, but rather between the database and flat files or
access or excel spreadsheets - anything but between databases.

So officially you havent lost any functionality with the new
version, but in practice, despite asking repeatedly in every forum I
can find, not one person can tell me how I can do what I need to do
without getting a support guy to do it for me.

In Enterprise Manager (which no longer connects to SQL2005 databases)
I had my dev server connect every night to a number of databases,
publish work done during the day to the site, take backups so I dont
have to depend on the hosting provider to do it for me, and some
other maintenance tasks, all done automatically every night. Now I
can't.

Report Builder fun and games

2006-04-26 Thread Kay Smoljak
Hi guys,

I'm still fighting with the Report Builder (see my progress to date at
http://kay.smoljak.com/archives/?coldfusion-report-builder-sanity-saving-tips/),
but this new issue seems to have something to do with the IIS vs the
built-in web server, so I'm hoping someone might some ideas of things
to try.

Situation is this: three of my reports, which need to go into an
overview reports as subreports, have complex calculations that are
wrapped up in CFC calls each. These reports work flawlessly when
called standalone (with the query created externally and passed in as
a cfreport tag parameter).

However, as subreports need the query to be created inside the report,
I have moved the CFC calls into the advanced query section of the
report itself (with the required CFC parameters eg dsn hardcoded for
now). If I call the report standalone, it works correctly (on all
servers). On my local machine with CF's built-in web server, when
called as a subreport, it also works correctly. However, on the
staging server - Windows 2003 with IIS, a mirror of the production
server - as a subreport it doesn't work at all - I get a blank page.
I've set when no query, show headers but no data (or whatever that
option is called, don't have it in front of me right now) but still
nothing. I tried moving all files into the root directory - the cfcs
in a directory under the root called cfc, so I'm referencing
cfc.compname and like I said, it works when called standalone on all
machines - but no change.

Any ideas of what to try? An alternate way of referencing the CFCs?
Another way of getting that code into the report without completely
rewriting it?

Thanks for any troubleshooting tips :)

Actually DTS is still in there, they say that it's limited, but with what we're
doing with DTS I haven't had an issue. You can create new DTS packages. We are
using the 64 bit version of SQL 2005 and there are some major issues with SSIS.
One major show stopper is the fact that an SSIS package won't work when using
Microsoft Access drivers. Until they release a service pack SSIS is dead in the
water for us here. DTS is working flawlessly though.

I also recommend that you stop asking that particular friend about CF
- the only buggy thing here is that person's understanding of CF syntax.

So I asked a friend of mine and he suggested adding the ## and maybe
putting the column in the variable name because he found CF to be a bit
buggy in situations like these.

I totally agree. SSIS information, on the net, is difficult to find.
Books are few and far between. General SQL 2k5 books usually have just
a simple chapter on SSIS that explain only the tasks, but don't really
use a real-world example.

I'm hoping that I just haven't *found* the right book and that it *is*
out there.

So officially you havent lost any functionality with the new version,
but in practice, despite asking repeatedly in every forum I can find,
not one person can tell me how I can do what I need to do without
getting a support guy to do it for me.

major issues with SSIS. One major show stopper is the fact that an SSIS
package won't work when using Microsoft Access drivers. Until they release a
service pack SSIS is dead in the water for us here. DTS is working

SSIS packages should not be foreign to you if you're used to DTS packages. Yes
it's a little different, but the interfaces are very similar to the way the old
DTS packages were. The only difference would be the editor which made things a
bit less user friendly. I'm used to using Visual Studio so this hasn't been
very difficult for me, once you get used to the interface it will become very
easy for you. It took me just a couple of hours to figure out how things work
with SSIS. The only thing I would like to find out now (once SSIS even works
for us) is how to get the packages saved in the database rather than as
physical files on the disk.

As developers do we have access to these session variables? If so why not
just update them manually every so often during page processing? You could
also over ride the system time out with a cfsetting tag for these specific

The session's last accessed time is updated every time a page is hit,
and every time a session variable is read, written or removed. CF does
not attempt to keep the session active during page processing. If you do
have pages running longer than your session timeout, you'll either have
to increase the session timeout, or take a long hard look at those data
loading screens (?) and see if some of that can be pre-loaded and/or
cached.

Not that I have much JS experience, but here's a random thought - what
if you ran the JS in a hidden frame? The page could execute for as long
as it wanted to in the main (visible) frame, while your JS checker
script could continue to run in the hidden frame, and would still allow
a user to respond to session timeout warnings.

Thanks Mike, but I was looking for a bit more granular detail - I know
that the page request resets the inactivity timer. But that occurs at
the beginning of the page processing - I'm more concerned about what
happens after that point in order to keep the session active. Is CF
keeping the session active *during* the page processing, regardless of
whether there is any actual interaction with the session scope? That's
really the crux of my question.

Every .cfm page request, regardless of session variable usage, within a

given application, resets that particular session's timeout counter.

CF's session management is related to the session cookies (cfid/cftoken

or the J2EE session) that are automatically set, by ColdFusion. You do

not need to create your own session variables to continue the session.

CFDUMP the session and cookie scopes once you have enabled session
management and you will see what is created. Then, try a few things,
like deleting the cookies, closing the browser, and you will see how CF

handles the session management.

Subject: What determines session inactivity timeouts?

What started out as a simple exercise has gone crazy. All I wanted to
do was to give my users a warning of impending session timouts and give

them the opportunity to refresh the session. I tried using the
CF_SessionWatch tag but it's a bit too simplistic - I used it to
setup a JS call to set a timer for a few minutes less than the session
timeout value, but if the user takes longer to respond (maybe they
walked away from their PC) than the remaining session timeout, then
when the user comes back and clicks on the yea I want to keep working

option, the resulting attempt to touch a page in the app (to reset the

session
timeout) ends up causing the login page to come up (since by then the
session vars have timed out), so now the user is real confused (because

he has his original page, as well as a login page in the pop-up
window).

So, I added a bit more JS so that when the warning pop-up comes up, it
first sets a timer for about a minute less than the amount of remaining

session var time, and if *that* timer fires, then I log the user off
and force the opener page to go back to the home page, and do a
window.close() to get rid of the pop-up window.

Sounds fine, right? Here's my concern - what if the page that is
executing takes longer to execute than the session timeout value? Our
server is set for 1 hour max timeout, and some of the data loading
screens can take longer than that to run, especially when the CF or SQL

server is loaded. I don't want to have it whacked in the middle of
it's work by the session timeout checker.

So this leads to my initial question, which I've never thought about
before even though I've been using session vars for years and years -
what exactly constitutes inactivity in CF's perspective? What if a
long running page doesn't touch any session vars for a period of time
greater than the session var timeout? Is session activity defined by

a request being active, or by the actual touching of a session-scoped
var? Do I need to have potential long-running pages periodically touch
a session var?

I thought about moving the code for setting up the JS timers from the
application.cfm file to orequestend.cfm, which wouldn't start up the
timers until the page actually completes, but then that has a

RE: What determines session inactivity timeouts?

2006-04-26 Thread Shawn McKee
As developers do we have access to these session variables? If so why not
just update them manually every so often during page processing? You could
also override the system timeout with a cfsetting tag for these specific
pages since you know they may run long.

RE: What determines session inactivity timeouts?

2006-04-26 Thread Dawson, Michael
It is possible that the delay could occur while processing a single CF
tag, therefore, you would have no way of touching a session variable.

For example, the session timeout is 5 minutes. On the page, you have a
CFFILE tag that save a huge amount of data to a text file. It could
take 7 minutes to save the file. By the time the CFFILE tag completes,
the session has expired.

There is no way to hook into the CFFILE tag and have it restart the
session timer.

I just wonder if the session timer is reset after EVERY session
variables read/write or only once when the page is requested/completed.
There is probably an easy way of testing this by setting a session
variable, sleeping the thread for several minutes (to let the session
timeout), then trying to read the same session variable and see if it
still exists.

I have a parameter in XML style file but it seems it does not work.

using a datasource thru mapped drive

2006-04-26 Thread Brian Coleman
I have a problem with setting up a datasource in CF Admin using a mapped drive.
The files I want to use are on another server...if I copy them to the web
server, use ODBC to point to them, then connect that way, it works fine.

If I use a mapped drive and use ODBC to point to the mapped drive, then try to
set up the datasource to use the mapped drive, it doesn't work. Even if I map a
drive to the webserver itself, it still gives the error.

The type of files are DB2, but I've tried an Access database, too.
The error it gives in cfadmin is

Connection verification failed for data source: gchstest
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC
Socket][Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make
sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the
server on which the file resides.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
Driver][ODBC Socket][Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid
path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are
connected to the server on which the file resides.

XAMPP Coldfusion together?

2006-04-26 Thread Andy Matthews
Okay...

I'm having some weird issues here. I'm trying to install a WAMP package on
my loacl machine for use in development. I've never had any problems before
with setting these up but now, I'm having a DEVIL of a time.

I can get the package installed in a fairly timely and orderly fashion BUT
it's when I go to install CF as well that I encounter problems. For
instance, I'm using XAMPP right now. Apache and mySQL are both running as
services and running successfully I might add. However, when install CF not
only does CF bnot work but Apache stops working as well.

I just installed it right now, with Apache running and once CF was done,
Apache had been shut down.

I really have to get this working, does anyone have any ideas or
suggestions?

Re: searching for online booking system written in CF

2006-04-26 Thread desiree.renaud
Hi, Adrian.

Thanks for responding to my query about a CF online booking solution for
property managers. Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

I'm looking for the following features:

A search feature that will produce search results for users so they can find
the property they desire.
The page returned will allow a view of the photos of the property and a short
description.
A calendar that will show when a property is available for rent to users.
A back end web admin tool that works with a MySql db that allows the property
manager to update available property on the site.
Some e-mail functionality that confirms the user's reservation and starts a
process for sending a deposit by credit card. Some kind of encryption or other
method of keeping the card info secure will be required.

This system will not be interfacing with their in-house accounting system. It
will just be a way for users to make reservations for vacation rentals and the
in-house staff will be required to keep the site updated with available
properties as necessary.

Got any ideas?

Hi, Bob.

Sorry for the delay in responding to you.

Yes, I believe I've seen your booking engine and visited your site.

How would this work with a vacation property rental company that serves many
properties and adds and drops them at will?

My needs are a little bit different than a hotel because each property is
different and has different photos and descriptions.

And how much work will it be for me to port the database over to MySql? I have
created MySql db's from scratch but have not ported any other db over to
it...yet. ;)

I assume you're saying that Apache won't even restart after CF has
been installed. Have you checked /var/log to see if the logs tell you
anything? CF modifies your httpd.conf file to apply several
LoadModule directives. You might want to take a look at those to see
if anything looks out of sorts.

I haven't installed CF on Apache for a while now, but those are things
I've seen in past efforts.

You might also try uninstalling the wsconfig for Apache and see if
that allows Apache to restart.

not as a network mapped drive.

ASP.Net book for CF programmer

2006-04-26 Thread Plunkett, Matthew
Anyone have a suggestion for a good book for getting quickly up to speed
with ASP.Net for someone experienced in ColdFusion? I find the O'Reilly
Programming ASP.NET completely unhelpful for some reason. It may just be
because the examples are always in two languages, not really sure though. I
find that very distracting.

I know C# already, but a _good_ book with examples in VB would be fine also.

The problem I have is that I need to be able to separate what is good
practice from what is just fluff that they throw in for people who don't

RE: Image resizing on the fly?

2006-04-26 Thread Burns, John D
Rick-

I agree and that's what I'm leaning toward. The only thing I don't like
is that if I want to change dimensions of all the images for some
reason, I have to go back through and run everything over again. The big
thing that prompted this question was that I saw .Net people using
image.ashx (do a google search on it) and it seems they do it on the fly
everytime. I'm not sure if .net is just better at doing it with very
little overhead or if the people doing it are a timebomb waiting to
explode on their server if they ever get significant traffic.

John,

Since you don't want to always be resizing on the fly every time someone
views an image, you might try something like this:

img src=showImage.cfm?foo=myImage.jpg

and in showImge.cfm just use imageCFC to read the image dimensions. If
the image hasn't been resized, resize it and save it back. Then use
cfcontent to send the image.

That way every time you display the image, the only added overhead would
be getting the image dimensions.

ALTERNATIVELY, save the resized image with a different filename like
myImage_resized.jpg and then have showImage.cfm check for the
existence of the file - if it's not there, resize the original image and
save it.

Then you're not even calling java to get image dimensions, you're only
checking for the existence of a file with a specific name.

ultimately, you're better off not doing any of this dynamic stuff cuz it
won't scale. You'd be better off using some kind of event gateway
directory watcher and just resizing the images as they appear.

Subject: using a datasource thru mapped drive

I have a problem with setting up a datasource in CF Admin using a
mapped drive. The files I want to use are on another server...if I copy
them to the web server, use ODBC to point to them, then connect that
 way, it works fine.

If I use a mapped drive and use ODBC to point to the mapped drive, then
try to set up the datasource to use the mapped drive, it doesn't work.
Even if I map a drive to the webserver itself, it still gives the
 error.

The type of files are DB2, but I've tried an Access database, too.
The error it gives in cfadmin is

Connection verification failed for data source: gchstest
 java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC
Socket][Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path.
Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are
connected to the server on which the file resides.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink
JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket][Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver] '(unknown)' is
not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and
that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.

Not sure if I completely understand.

But:

We connect to a remote MySQL database(remote as in, in another building and
different network).
Have you tried to set up an ODBC connection thru Administravtive Tools/Data
Sources(ODBC)?
We set up a System DSN in there using an account that has the necessary
permissions on the MySQL box.
This DSN will then show up in the ColdFusion Admin when you select ODBC
Socket as your driver.
This has also worked with making connections with .xls files and others.
Just had to make sure the server making the ODBC socket had the necessary
drivers.

Hmm, this is off topic, no?

If you're playing the 2.0 game, you don't have a lot of choices, so get like
an introducing book, like Introducing ASP.NET 2.0.

I read the SitePoint book, BYO web site..., it was good for getting the
concept. The best book I read was the one I got for free for downloading
some presentations. The latest site like this is the www.learn2asp.net site,
you sign up, click the download button 3 times and wait a month for your
book to show up (free software, too!). When they did this a couple years
ago, the book they sent was Coding Strategies from the Microsoft
ASP.NETTeam and it was great at taking me through how the server
worked, how
requests work, what happens when you bind data, etc. That was a MS Press
book, and is honestly the way I would go (especially if you can score it for
free). I recommend Microsoft Press books.

with setting these up but now, I'm having a DEVIL of a time.

All,

i have been looking at

headtitleJRun Servlet Error/title/headh1500 There is no web

There is no web application configured to service your request/body

I am using cfmx7 trial edition for j2ee with jrun4 dev edition (latest versions)

My httpd.conf section for cfm looks like this:

LoadModule jrun_module /opt/jrun4/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun.so
IfModule mod_jrun.c
JRunConfig Verbose false
JRunConfig Apialloc false
JRunConfig Ssl false
JRunConfig Ignoresuffixmap false
JRunConfig Serverstore /opt/jrun4/lib/wsconfig/1/jrunserver.store
JRunConfig Bootstrap 10.0.13.9:51003
#JRunConfig Errorurl optionally redirect to this URL on errors
AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws .cfm .cfml .cfc
/IfModule

I would guess that the bootstrap line is pointing to the wrong place
as 51003 is the port number for the 3rd instance of cfmx7 but I am
very confused by it tbh.

Any kind souls out there would like to help me out?

Cheers

Subject: ASP.Net book for CF programmer

Anyone have a suggestion for a good book for getting quickly up to speed
with ASP.Net for someone experienced in ColdFusion? I find the O'Reilly
Programming ASP.NET completely unhelpful for some reason. It may just be
because the examples are always in two languages, not really sure though. I
 find that very distracting.

I know C# already, but a _good_ book with examples in VB would be fine also.

The problem I have is that I need to be able to separate what is good
practice from what is just fluff that they throw in for people who don't
know how to code for the web. For instance, I knew in CF not to use
CFInsert and the weird CF canned form controls. It is not clear from what
I've read on ASP.Net if their canned form controls are actually necessary or
 not.

 Thanks,
 Matthew

RE: CFMX 7.0.1 and MS SQL 2005

2006-04-26 Thread Dave Watts
G'day Dave, thanks for your suggestion. Yes that's what Im
doing for uploads - backing up to my own PC then FTP the
backup to the site, then lodge a support ticket for the
support guy to restore it to the site.

But it's a hassle, and I would rather have a way to do it
myself without needing support guys to do it for me.

In the other direction, where I need to make a local copy of
 a database on line, I can't do a backup myself - the
database doesnt give permissions high enough for that. So
again i have to ask teh support guy to take an additional
backup (he is supposed to be doing it every night - I'm
assuming he is) and put it on the site somewhere for me to
 pick up by FTP later.

All of this could be automated, though. Of course, you (and/or they) would
have to build the job, but it would fix your immediate problem.

But again, that's a real hassle and it would be far better if
i can find a practical way to get copies of databases myself
 whenever i like.

You're right; I don't know enough about SQL Server 2005 to be able to give
you a better solution.

If someone ends up outgrowing Express and needing to go to
the full blown version of MSSQL 2005 what do they end up
needing to do to move a database from one to the other? Is
it as simple as just backing up the files in Express and
restoring them onto the new server?

Yes, they're completely compatible.

I watched all of them and was pretty amazed at how easy asp.net 2.0 can make
 certain things.

You'll be even more amazed at how the .NET Framework itself gives you all kinds
of high-end goodies, especially through its large third party vendor base.

For example, there are a number of companies that sell high performance session
object syndication software that scales realistically out to dozens of

performance object cache syndication. And it still freaks me out that you can

Re: What determines session inactivity timeouts?

2006-04-26 Thread powell
OK, I did what I should have done before starting this thread, which was to rig
up a test case to see what happens. Pretty interesting results. It appears
that CF keeps the session vars alive during page processing, even if there is
no activity with those vars. Here is what I did:

In Application.cfm:
cfapplication name=test clientmanagement=no sessionmanagement=yes
setclientcookies=yes setdomaincookies=yes
sessiontimeout=#createtimespan(0,0,1,0)#
applicationtimeout=#createtimespan(0,1,0,0)# loginstorage=session

In Test.cfm:
cfobject type=JAVA name=obj class=java.lang.Thread action=CREATE

cfdump var=#session#

cfset session.x=1
cfdump var=#session#
#timeformat(now(),HH:MM:SS)#

cfset obj.sleep(7)
BRBR

#timeformat(now(),HH:MM:SS)#
cfdump var=#session#

HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED:
First time I executed test.cfm, I got three CFDUMPS of the session scope: dump
1 had no vars in it, dumps 2 and 3 showed the var I set in my code. Since
there was a 70 second pause between 2 and 3, and the session var timeout was
set to 1 minute, that tells me that CF kept the session vars alive.

I waited 2-3 minutes and reran, with the same output - which shows that CF did
in fact destroy the session vars after the 60 second timeout occured between
the two page requests.

Then I ran another variation: I ran the script again, and then when it finished
I reran it immediately, and guess what - the session var was gone! That makes
it look like CF kept the session var alive during the script's execution, even
though the timeout was reached, but deferred destroying the var until the
request completed.

So I did another scenario: ran the same test in 1 browser, but with the pause
set to 2 minutes, and immediately in another browser window ran a script that
simply did 2 CFDUMPs of the session scope with a 60 second pause between them.
The second window (which began and ended during the first window's 2 minute
pause period), showed the session var to be alive on both dumps. I refreshed
it's screen immediately, and when it finished the session var was gone. This
tells me that when CF deferred destroying the session var during the first
script's execution, it kept the var alive for all other requests, not just for
the currently executing one.

Final test - I changed the second script's pause to be 2 minutes, and waited
about 10 seconds after running the first script before starting the second, to
see what happens to the session vars for the second script when it it still
running after the first script ends. The session vars for the second script
were still there on both dumps, which is pretty interesting because it said
that when CF saw that the second script was running it kept the session vars
alive, even though it never touched any of them. But the immediate rerun of
the second script showed that the vars were gone as soon as it had finished.

Bottom line is that session vars don't dissapear out from under you during
script execution, but when the lifeguard blows the whistle the session vars are
gone as soon as the last guy is out of the pool - unless someone new jumps into
the pool and actually touches a session var.

Whew

As developers do we have access to these session variables? If so why
not just update them manually every so often during page processing?
You could also over ride the system time out with a cfsetting tag for
these specific pages since you know they may run long.

Hey, we're not done yet!

I'm in the same position, I'm in a contract doing some C# at the moment and
having a play about with 2.0 has tickled my interest.

I was looking for book recommendations and the only one that I've seen
recommended is ASP.Net 2.0 Unleashed, which isn't out till June. How they
recommend it I don't know, but I guess because of the first one, ASP.Net
Unleashed.

I have this book and I think it's ok, but it's in VB so I have to convert
the examples(which is no biggie).

Sign up to the forums on http://asp.net as there is a tonne of good info on
there, including book reviews AND a section about going from CF to ASP.Net.

I think you'll gauge pretty quickly what's good and bad with all the
controls like GridView and AdRotator if you do some work with them. If
someone had told me not to use cfinsert etc. all those years ago, I wouldn't
have listened to them till I knew for myself.

Coldfusion and Qmail-Inject

2006-04-26 Thread Rick Root
If anyone is interested in using qmail-inject to directly insert email
messages into your mail queue via coldfusion, I've just blogged about it.

http://www.opensourcecf.com/1/2006/04/Coldfusion-and-qmailinject.cfm#comment

It requires the use of a small perl script, a few extra perl modules,
and CFEXECUTE privileges.

I spent a little while doing an implementation that actually wrote out
files to a spool directory first and then executed a little perl script
to send them all, but I was able to make some changes so now coldfusion
doesn't do any file output.

I didn't like the idea of writing out 100,000 messages at 10k each out
to disk, then using qmail-inject to put them into the queue, which would
just write them again as files in the mail queue.

Yeah, I'm running linux on my own server. Qmail does not run on

It occurred to me that I really didn't need the Email::Send perl module,
cuz it didn't really do a whole lot... so I modified my script and
edited my original blog entry to show the new script. No need to
install any extra perl modules or anything like that.

I didn't like the idea of writing out 100,000 messages at 10k each out

just write them again as files in the mail queue.

RE: cffile and files starting with '0'

2006-04-26 Thread Burns, John D
You should try moving the file to somewhere like
C:\filetest\filename.csv and try copying it to C:\filetest2\filename.csv
and try to narrow down that it's the filename causing issues and not
something else in the path.

2006-04-26 Thread Ian Skinner
Where exactly is the failure? Are you trying to use the name of the file in
some variable that is causing the problem? If so you could be running into a
bit of a problem with CF's stateless nature; such that CF is treating that
value as an integer and dropping the leading zero.

I would guess this it the problem. CF is seeing the value as an integer and
dropping the leading zero in your loop. You can try the toString() function
around the value in the loop to let CF know you do not want to treat this value
as a number.

Hey people. I'm trying to parse a line to stick into a db. This has been

Does anyone know an easy way to turn this line... Sometimes it's a line

tried that and still get The value of the attribute source, which is
currently e:\renamedatafile\0508302.csv, is invalid

It might help if you could show us the part of the code implied.

Is running CF on J2EE server more stable?

2006-04-26 Thread Andrew Dixon
Hi.

We have been having some reliability issues with CF recently and where
wondering if it was more reliable/stable if it was run over a J2EE server
instead in server configuration mode? We would be looking at deploying it
using Tomcat. Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

Andrew

Re: Is running CF on J2EE server more stable?

2006-04-26 Thread Barney Boisvert
Standalone mode is running on Adobe's JRun J2EE server, just the JRun
instance is hidden from view. You can still find the JRun
installation in a standalone server, you just have to look for it.

I've run CF on Tomcat without issue, but never in production, and I'm
pretty sure it's not a supported server.

cheers,
barneyb
