CFFORMS XML Error message appears again .... HELP!

2007-02-12 Thread Mike Kear
I'm getting this error again - i thought it had gone away but its
re-appeared without warning

[quote]

stylesheet file: ../fckeditor/_fcktextarea.xsl
A [Transformer] object cannot be created that satisfies the
configuration requested. This could be due to a failure in compiling
the [XSL] text. javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException:
javax.xml.transform.TransformerException:
javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Had IO Exception with
stylesheet file: ../fckeditor/_fcktextarea.xsl

[/quote]

the string "fckeditor" doesnt appear anywhere in the site - i did a
global search for it over the entire site, so I guess that means the
forms are actually drawing the scripts from somewhere other than where
i thought.

i"m using in my form tag.

Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

I've raised it already with Adobe, but no one has responded after
several months of waiting. The problem went away for a while, so I
thought i'd solved it, but it's reappeared today with no prompting
from me so I guess i didnt fix it.

Any ideas?

There is a development license... I would assume that if you are running
several servers in a load balanced environment, you would have to buy a

What is the deal with ColdFusion licensing? Do Adobe run any kind of "free
of charge" licenses for test / support systems? What is the requisite when
you need to buy one? Is it when it is public facing? What if I have load
balanced web servers, and I am not running in Distributed mode, do I need to
buy 1 per server?

Thoughts?

Thanks for the explanation, but Ben's reply is actually the answer to your
dilemma. In the catch () block, change 'Exception' to 'Any', and it'll

By "not working", I mean the code will throw an error, so I want the Catch
to trigger and return a false value. This for loop is trivial. I want to
make sure I have the correct syntax for the try/catch.

When the function does get an error, the catch is not being picked up and I
can't figure out why not?

Ah, that was the answer Dave! I checked again and it does go through a function
that rewrites the query, and that seems to be what is causing the problem,
although it doesn't show up until I hit that QoQ line. Apparently the field
type is getting lost along the way.

No, that does not help much at all. Without going into details about the

Re: CFWDDX to Javascript security / AjaxCFC

2007-02-12 Thread Rey Bango
Hi Andrew,

I replied to you on the Ajax mailing list with the following:

You really should consider what data you *have* to send over vs. sending
*all* data over. You can do things such as making smaller XHR requests
or returning fully formatted HTML that contains the results you're
expecting.

It appears that you're biggest worry is someone determining your data
structure from what's being returned from your XHR request. If thats the
case, as James Holmes suggested, try aliasing your columns. In addition,
you might also want to consider another data format such as JSON or XML
where you can define how your data nodes will be named and used within
your JS. In essence, that is a form obfuscation.

Finally, here's some good reading for you on Ajax security. These
articles helped me out and hopefully will help put you at ease:

It's a database query, although it does get manipulated along the way. This

I must be missing something, because I don't really see any concern here.

If you're concerned that someone can figure out your database schema, they
can figure that out as easily from one record as they can from one hundred.
If you're concerned that someone can manipulate your data, they can do that
as easily with one record as they can with one hundred. AJAX has nothing to
do with this. If you simply don't want users to be able to capture the data
for multiple records and store it locally, don't use AJAX, but if the user
can download one record, that user can automate the download of all the
other records you allow them to access, whether you use AJAX or not.

Re: Query-of-Query Issue

2007-02-12 Thread Matt Quackenbush
To quote someone else:

"Every time you store a comma-delimited list in a database field God kills a
kitty."

The main problem with your situation is that there shouldn't be a list in a
database field. There should be a separate table that creates the
one-to-many or many-to-many relationship. By doing that, your problems
would be solved.

Hope that helps.

Does the original query passed to the CFC come from a database itself, or

Query-of-Query Issue

2007-02-12 Thread Mary Jo Sminkey
I've run into a strange query-of-query issue and wondering if anyone else has
seen this or knows of a work-around. Basically, I'm passing a query into a CFC
and then running this QoQ:

   SELECT DISTINCT Item_ID, Related_Items FROM arguments.theQuery

Related_Items is a text field with a list of IDs. The problem I am having is
that when this runs, if Related_Items just has a single ID (or none), it works
fine. But if it has several items in the list, the QoQ doesn't return the list,
it apparently is converting it to a date field.

Any ideas?

CF7 / oracle 10g migration woes

2007-02-12 Thread Casey C Cook
I have two scenario's, one we have figured out, one we havent.

1) Figured out: When using the cfstoredproc tag and doing a select query
in a package/procedure which returns more than 46 columns, the CF 7 server
spins off into never never land. If you push it by hitting the URL several
times, you can crash the server. If you use cfquery everything works fine,
so our immediate solution was to re-write these into coldfusion templates.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

test cases:
cf6 and oracle 9 - all good
cf6 and oracle 10g - I forget
cf7 and oracle 9 - off to never never land
cf7 and oracle 10g - off to never never land

So we concluded, it was most likely the cf7 server and NOT the oracle 10g.

2) Currently trying to figure out: when using the cflogin tag in CF6
everything works fine, in CF7 Im getting "String index out of range: -1".
The cflogin tag just doesnt work. Any ideas ?

Server Product ColdFusion MX
Version 7,0,2,142559
Edition Enterprise
Operating System Windows 2003
OS Version 5.2

Thanks,
Casey Cook

What we disagree on is whether or not this specific contest is considered

Re: try/catch inside a tag

My guess would be its not working because trying to add strings is failing at
compile time rather than runtime?

Try changing it to j = j & Mid(chars,i,1);

The first argument to the catch block should be an exception type. I

Re: Regex Help

2007-02-12 Thread Ben Doom
I'm pretty sure that IE6's JS engine does not correctly handle
lookaheads. IIRC, rather than performing an actual lookahead, it goes
ahead and eats the characters.

Your best bet with this might be to check length with JS (cfform) and do
the rest of the checking serverside.

CFWDDX to Javascript security / AjaxCFC

2007-02-12 Thread Andrew McDuff
Hi everyone,

I'm started to get worried about security whilst developing some test apps. I'm
using a combination of MX7 (mainly form work and queries), AjaxCFC (standard
XMLHttpRequest calls to CFCs) and JS to do quite a bit of DOM manipulation in
the callback Ajax function. Basically, I'm using the CFWDDX tag (with the
"cfml2js" parameter) which takes a CF query and dynamically creates a JS
WddxRecordSet object which also contains an array containing the data from the
query. In this case, this is achieved via the WDDX JS library. AjaxCFC is also
using the same WDDX technique.

By using the WDDX technique, the resulting JS RecordSet objects lend-up being
visible in the user's browser. Therefore, all the data from the queries can be
openly seen in the "view source". I can't use an obfuscator because the JS
WddxRecordSet is created dynamically by both CFWDDX and AjaxCFC. It's a bit
'nasty' for user's / hackers to start unravelling your database work by
studying the JS WddxRecordSet code across a number of different Ajax apps and /
or invite folks to try all sort of hacking techniques, etc..etc.. But what to
do?

The answer seems to be move more of the work to server-side and avoid / reduce
Ajax - after all, one of Ajax's central theme is the XMLHttpRequest object and
well, that's Javascript. Maybe I could move the cfwddx tag into a CFC which is
invoked via an AjaxCFC call ? (Although I don't know if that would help much -
at the end day, you can go to the browser's cache and get what you want). Is
the answer (perhaps, controversially) just avoid Ajax altogether and stick to
good old page-to-page, step-by-step navigation in a web-app (standard
shopping-cart style apps)?

Anyone else out there with any thoughts / ideas or have started looking at
techniques to make things 'harder' ?

Cheers, Andy

Madrid, Spain

p.s. Apologies - I've also posted this in the Ajax forum but it doesn't look
too active.

Flash Form CFSELECT not populating

2007-02-12 Thread Michael Wright
I have a very simple flash form which includes 2 cfselect fields with hard
coded options. It works fine on my shared hosting account but not on my new
server.

The form appears but there are no values available in the select boxes and
the clock keeps spinning.

I'm sure it's something simple but I can't find reference to it.

Re: cfcUnit Configuration Management

2007-02-12 Thread Peter Boughton
I think I had similar problems with cfcUnit and Apache. I 'solved' the problem
by going to something stupid like localhost/cfcunit/cfcunit - this was despite
having a mapping pointing to (i think) {webroot}/cfcunit/org/cfcunit.

With regards to metadata, my personal preferences is to exclude all metadata
from version control - with the exception of *some* ignore files (eg: for
tmp/output dirs)
(Even if that means having everyone setup the build process - it's good to do
things a few times to learn. :P)

Make sure that the IIS anonymous user account has read/execute rights on
your .cfm files (including those in /CFIDE/administrator), and that the CF

Re: Anyone doing anything with wireless scanners and CF?

2007-02-12 Thread Peter Boughton
I think you need to expand on what you're asking. (You are asking a question,
right?)

Putting data into a database is simple enough with CF, but you need a way to
provide CF with the data in the first place.
The scanner should have documentation of some sort which explains how it can
provide the data - what protocols it might use, what format the data with be
in, etc.
Check that, and once you know how the data is coming in, then someone can
probably help with how to put it into the DB.

Re: Fusebox Web Site Design Contest Announced

2007-02-12 Thread Matt Quackenbush
Andy,

I apologize for replying before thinking about my replies. I was not
meaning to get personal, although I can certainly understand that I came
across as such. Again, I apologize.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, as am I entitled to mine. What
angered me, and I would guess most others as well, is how you are telling us
what's best for us, the community, based upon your personal belief/value
system. Simply put, neither you, nor I, nor any other -individual- is
entitled to determine what is best for the -community-. That is reserved
for the community as a whole to decide.

Now then, when it comes to spec work, I actually agree with you. Recently,
one of my clients, after we had agreed to terms, pricing, etc on another new
project for them, comes back a couple of weeks later and says "okay, I need
a spec doc by in the morning". I told him that a spec doc wasn't part of
the agreement, and it was going to cost X amount in addition to get it
done. As hard as that is to do to a returning client, I did it because,
like you, I won't do spec work for free.

The problem here (other than the whole "what's good for the community"
aspect) is that I cannot for the life me understand how you can consider a
-community- project to be spec work. It isn't anything even close to spec
work. It's a group of individuals, in this case designers, who are
submitting their "ideas", which may or may not be used (as is the case in
ALL -community- projects), in an effort to give back to the -community- out
of gratitude for what the -community- has done for them in the past.

Again, my apologies for making it personal, as that was most definitely not
my intent. I responded *incorrectly* out of anger over being told by
someone else what was good (or not good) for me.

Querying Using List Input To Field

2007-02-12 Thread Chris Montgomery
Howdy,

I'm having a bit of a brain fart trying to figure this out. I want to
join four tables to find a user/volunteer that is assigned to
categories, pulling out all categories they are in based on a list of
IDs coming from a form submission.

Here's what my tables look like:

vols_volcat
===
VolCatID (smallint)
VolunteerID (smallint)

volcategories
=
VolCatID (smallint)
VolCategory (varchar)

volunteers
==
VolunteerID (smallint)
UserID (smallint)

users
=
UserID (smallint)
FName (varchar)
Lname (varchar)

The formfield being passed into the action page will contain one or more
IDs from a multiple select list (in my test case, form.VolCatID =
6,7,15,16).

Here's two queries that I've tried. There is one volunteer listed in the
vols_volcat table (volunteerID = 4) that matches all four IDs in
form.VolCatID passed in, but the query is returning only the first match
for VolCatID ("6"). I suspect the problem is that I'm using the "IN"
clause in the WHERE statement (where it stops after matching the first
number in the list). I need to grab all VolCategory fields the volunteer
matches.

1st query:
SELECT
volcategories.volcategory,
volunteers.volunteerID,
users.userid,
users.fname,
users.lname
FROM
volcategories
Inner Join vols_volcat ON vols_volcat.VolCatID = volcategories.VolCatID
Inner Join volunteers ON volunteers.VolunteerID = vols_volcat.VolunteerID
Inner Join users ON volunteers.UserID = users.UserID
WHERE vols_volcat.VolCatID IN ('#form.VolCatID#')

2nd query:
select
volcategories.volcategory,
volunteers.volunteerID,
users.userid,
users.fname,
users.lname
from
vols_volcat, volcategories, volunteers, users
where
vols_volcat.volcatID = volcategories.volcatID AND
vols_volcat.volunteerID = volunteers.volunteerID AND volunteers.userID =
users.userID AND vols_volcat.volcatID IN ('#form.VolCatID#')

I'm thinking there needs to be a loop somewhere in there to loop over
the form.VolCatID list being passed in, but can't get my head around it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Using CFMX 7 on local Windows dev box and MySQL 5.x

Thanks.

RE: Quick help on a mod rewrite rule

2007-02-12 Thread Russ
Since nobody volunteered... Here is something that should work for apache,
and you can try to convert it to ionicIsapiRewrite (since Dave Watts seems
to think the syntax should be the same).

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}^www.wheretobuild.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/States/xq/ASP/(.+)+\.(.+)+/qx/index.htm$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://www.wheretobuild.com/States/index.cfm?%1=%2
[R=301,L]

This should work for any variable name... not just StateName.

I think if you write a few more rules, one for 2 variables, and 1 for 3
variables, etc you should be good.

I can't really be of more help without knowing what the rest of the url's
look like.

RE: Issues with cfexecute in cfmx7?

2007-02-12 Thread Gaulin, Mark
Weird! It almost feels like the program is waiting for you to respond
to it or something like that...
I was going to say that since it works on smaller files then it must not
be a permissions issue but I guess it could still be, if it uses temp
files only when the input is large. (I'm not saying that makes sense...
just that it could be related.) If it's possible to log in as the same
account that the cf service is running as then you might be able to
eliminate that kind of thing as a possible source of the problem.

Are the too-short files that it leaves around all the same size for
different inputs, or does it look like they are all just a little short?

Do your cfexecute tag specify an output file? A timeout?

Do you run htmldoc directly from cfexecute, or is there a script
involved? You might try creating a script just to see if that changes
anything...

(BTW, if you haven't already noticed, I'm just throwing ideas out... I
haven't used cfexecute in a while. Hope this helps, but good luck
either way.)

Yes it does work on the smaller files, but when I feed it a larger one
it hangs. I've checked the process list and both cmd.exe and the
htmldoc process are there. Each time I run the page I'll get another
cmd and htmldoc process in the list. They stay there until I restart
ColdFusion. They do not consume any CPU or increase their memory
allocation.

Also should have mentioned that the PDF file *does* get generated, but
its a few kb short. If I try to open the PDF, the viewer says the file
is corrupt. If I run htmldoc manually at a prompt, the PDF is a few Kb
larger and I can open it just fine.

Xstandard is freakin' sweet! It's what we use with all our new clients.
It's activeX but totally worth it. Fully customizable web services,
produces ONLY XHTML valid content (doesn't even let you fudge bad code -
keeps you coding the right way). Drag and drop upload, paste from word
format, paste from word upload (I think), template usage, partial
document locking, database integration.

I love this editor.

Currently, on the site, xstandard.com, there are no ColdFusion
solutions. I have written my own version of the ColdFusion web services:

+1 FCKeditor

I like how it autodetects pastes from word and offers you the ability to
clean it up.

I got tired of telling my clients to click the "Paste from word" icon
instead, so the autodetect feature is nice.

Hey, I don't know about SQL, but in ColdFusion, we get that error when
you try to use a simple value as a complex value (ex. using a string
like it was a struct). So, what would that mean? Is it possible that the
values in your ## are misspelled or accidentally referencing the wrong
variables?

Can somone post a quick overview of the advantages/disadvantages of J2EE
session vars vs. standard CF Session vars.

my understanding is that the J2EE vars will span between clustered servers
amongst other things.

thanks

It's pretty simple. You have to buy a license for any installation of
coldfusion that goes on a shared server for any purpose, including
development, staging, testing, etc.

The only "free" version is the Developer's Edition, which you can install on
your desktop and make available to some limited number of IP addresses (like
3-5).

Using a proxy server or any other methods to "technically" bypass the IP
address restriction on the developer edition would be a violation of the
license.

"public facing" has nothing to do with whether or not you have to pay for
it.

But I'm no lawyer. Chances are, if you're installing coldfusion on anything
other than your own desktop, you need to buy a license.

the actually error message and the lines of code where the error occurred
would be very helpful.

I've seen the "Dereference a scalar variable" error before but it's hard to
help without seeing the code causing the error.

AFAIK, no. The only free edition is the Developer Edition.

Even if it's not public facing, Staging/Test servers require full licenses.

I'm sure you could contact Adobe and get a very detailed, specific response :)

We finally were able to isolate the issue. For Flash remoting calls the
CGI.path_translated variable reports itself as "gateway". We put that word

RE: ColdSpring - What's my DAO do?

2007-02-12 Thread Richard Kroll
> So - how do I create an object (or multiple) from within my DAO and DG
> without hard coding the path?

After writing an almost complete example of how to set this up I
realized that I missed the point of your question. You are referring to
where you get a dog bean once inside your DAO / Gateway, and I first
thought you were asking how to inject your DAO / Gateway into your
service.

So with that said, I think you are close in what you are thinking, but I
would leverage ColdSpring to inject the factory into the DAO / Gateway.
Your CS config would look something like:

Then you only have one factory creating dog instances and it can be
reused in both your DAO and Gateway.

HTH,

Rich Kroll

RE: Web based HTML Editor recommendations please

2007-02-12 Thread Ben Nadel
Xstandard is freakin' sweet! It's what we use with all our new clients.
It's activeX but totally worth it. Fully customizable web services,
produces ONLY XHTML valid content (doesn't even let you fudge bad code -
keeps you coding the right way). Drag and drop upload, paste from word
format, paste from word upload (I think), template usage, partial
document locking, database integration.

I love this editor.

I like how it autodetects pastes from word and offers you the ability to
clean it up.

I got tired of telling my clients to click the "Paste from word" icon
instead, so the autodetect feature is nice.

Yes - support is non-existent with the soEditor.

Now about a year or more ago, I received an email that said that they were
releasing a new version of the soEditor. The email even included a link to a
page which seemed to be an incomplete purchase page (just missing the "buy"
link). Shortly thereafter this page was taken down. I tried to follow up by
asking when/how could I purchase the new version - to this day I have yet to
receive a response.

Peter,

I have function that handles something similar:

http://www.bennadel.com/blog/191-REReplace-Java-Function-Pointers-Freaki
n-Sexy-.htm
OR: http://www.bennadel.com/index.cfm?dax=blog:191.view

Take a look and that and see if it helps. It basically takes a function
pointer that will be applied to each group as the matches are found. It
passes the array of matches to the group and expects a string to be
returned.

Hello.

Does anyone know how I can implement a regex callback?

ie: I have the following code:
', '<'&'cfif (Var(\1),"\2")) \3 "\4">', "all")/>

And I need to run a function on \1, \3 and \4 as they are replaced.

I'm fairly sure CF itself doesn't have this functionality, but I'm
hoping someone can provide a simple Java example of how it works?

Thanks,

RE: Issues with cfexecute in cfmx7?

2007-02-12 Thread Gaulin, Mark
Have you ever gotten in to work on cfmx7, or does it fail on every file?

If it fails all of time, even on trivial inputs, then I would suspect
permissions problems... Maybe temp directories or something like that.
One way to test that angle is to login using the same account that cfmx
will run as. (Check the service settings.)

Can you see if the htmldoc process is actually running (using CPU, etc)
when it "hangs", or is the process there but not "doing anything" (0
cpu)?

Subject: Issues with cfexecute in cfmx7?

I am converting an app from CF5 to CF7. This application makes use of
an external program (htmdoc) to convert html into PDFs. The problem is
when I feed it large html documents (200-300kb), it hangs when I
cfexecute it. When I run the exact same command at a command prompt, it
runs just fine. Any tips or tricks to using cfexecute on cf7? This is
on Windows. The process only takes a second or two to execute when I
run it at the cmd prompt.

Thanks,

Re: Web based HTML Editor recommendations please

2007-02-12 Thread Jake Pilgrim
Here's what I have used in the past, with feedback:

FCK Editor - The best product I have found thus far. Prior versions were less
than remarkable, but their latest versions are excellent! Very customizable,
very cross-platform compatible, and does not require any additional plugins
(Java, Flash, etc). Plus - it's free :).

soEditor - This is an *ok* product. It doesn't do anything that the FCK editor
doesn't do. It comes with a price tag, and it's "code sweeper" function is less
than perfect. I used this for a number of clients in the past and I have had to
go into the code generated by this editor numerous times to fix various layout
issues from poor code nesting.

Ektron eWebWP - Purely flash based. Poor functionality, and poor integration.
Doesn't offer any code clean-up features.

ActivEdit - Decent product, but licensing is a pain in the ass. It is able to
run in DHTML or Java mode, but I would recommend forcing Java mode. Doesn't
offer any code clean-up features.

Now when I say "code clean-up features" - specifically I'm referring to the
ability to paste content from outside applications (most notably - MS Word).
FCK Editor will clean up word garbage on-the-fly. soEditor will clean up word
garbage after clicking "code sweeper" or by pasting using the special "paste
from word" button. Ektron and ActivEdit just leave word's garbage in the code...

And that's my 2 cents.

Make sure that the IIS anonymous user account has read/execute rights on

ColdSpring - What's my DAO do?

2007-02-12 Thread Adam Roussos
All,

I am still trying wrap my head around using ColdSpring+ModelGlue and focusing
on getting my best practices right. That said, there is one major question
that I am struggling with.

As for some background, I have modeled my CS+MG development around Brian
Kotek's excellent article on ColdSpring. In this article Brian, reinforces
using a Service with a Data Gateway and a DAO that depend on it. In addition,
the DAO and DG have a config that they depend on. For this example, let's say
I am building an application to manage an inventory of dogs. If we follow out
Brian's article, this means that I have a DogService.cfc which depends on the
DogDAO.cfc as well as a DogGateway.cfc. This is where I get stuck. I want my
DG and my DAO to return objects of type "Dog" of course. So, how do I handle
the instantiation of these objects from within the DAO and the DG. The obvious
answer is "use cfobject dummy" but this means neglecting this nice shiny IoC
framework we have. So, if we don’t hardcode the "path" to the CFC, how do we
do it?

I have thought about a couple solutions with the following being my "best bet".
This would be to add a DogFactory.cfc and make it a dependency of
DogService.cfc and define this relationship in ColdSpring. Then, within the
service (DogService), we can pass the DogFactory to the DogDAO and DogGateway
for them to use. Although this solution does eliminate the hard coded object
creation, I believe this to be a very unelegant solution. It seems unnecessary
to create two factories, one for the DAO and one for the DG.

So - how do I create an object (or multiple) from within my DAO and DG without
hard coding the path?

Issues with cfexecute in cfmx7?

2007-02-12 Thread Ryan Stille
I am converting an app from CF5 to CF7. This application makes use of
an external program (htmdoc) to convert html into PDFs. The problem is
when I feed it large html documents (200-300kb), it hangs when I
cfexecute it. When I run the exact same command at a command prompt, it
runs just fine. Any tips or tricks to using cfexecute on cf7? This is
on Windows. The process only takes a second or two to execute when I
run it at the cmd prompt.

Thanks,
-Ryan

I remember a while back a guy posted about setting preloader="no" in

it helps.

I know I saw an improvement in mine.

RE: Quick help on a mod rewrite rule

2007-02-12 Thread Mark A Kruger
This would possibly work except it is not flexible. I have other URLs that
contain params.. Sometimes more than 1. I need to be able to:

1. match the first part of the URL
2. Discard the "end" part - the part that is /qx/index.htm
3. Turn the middle part into a query string
4. Rewrite the URL to the proper handler with the query string...

In addition, this doesn't look like the rules I'm writing Perhaps it's
not as "mod_rewritish" as I thought. The filter is called ionicIsapRewriter
and I've used it for Farcry sites with this rule:

RewriteRule .*/go([^\?]*)(?:\?(.*))? /go.cfm?path=/go$1&$2

Does that syntax look familiar to anyone?

Well I'm not going to do a very good job without seeing the rest of the
samples... but something like this:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}^www.wheretobuild.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/States/xq/ASP/StateName\.(.+)+/qx/index.htm$
[NC]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://
www.wheretobuild.com/States/index.cfm?StateName=%1 [R=301,L]

This is not tested, but this should work...

AFAIK, type is a reserved word in most every language/platform.

RE: Flash Form Waiting Animation

2007-02-12 Thread Kevin Aebig
Well here's a small suggestion. Set the timeout of the form to be extremely
high so that the Flex Engine doesn't recompile it on ever request... that
should definitely help.

As for the running clock, I've never had to force it to show while loading,
it simply has just always been there when I needed it. =]

No, the page does not show a running clock. Do I need to ask for that as an

I have not advanced to remoting yet, which I believe will help, but I'd like
to improve the user experience until then.

Re: Quick help on a mod rewrite rule

2007-02-12 Thread Ryan Stille
To do this in apache, you don't even need mod_rewrite.

RedirectMatch /States/xq/ASP/StateName\.(\w+)/qx/index.htm
/States/index.cfm?StateName=$1

Don't know if IIS has something like RedirectMatch or not...

Pretty sure it's apache, since he mentioned mod_rewrite...

RE: Quick help on a mod rewrite rule

2007-02-12 Thread Russ
Well I'm not going to do a very good job without seeing the rest of the
samples... but something like this:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST}^www.wheretobuild.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/States/xq/ASP/StateName\.(.+)+/qx/index.htm$
[NC]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://
www.wheretobuild.com/States/index.cfm?StateName=%1 [R=301,L]

This is not tested, but this should work...

I really suck at these. I need a rule that will turn this:

Into this:

http://www.wheretobuild.com/States/index.cfm?StateName=Kansas

I know that there are some regex and SES experts on this list. Can any

regular expression - callback function

2007-02-12 Thread Peter Boughton
Hello.

Does anyone know how I can implement a regex callback?

ie: I have the following code:
', '<'&'cfif (Var(\1),"\2")) \3 "\4">', "all")/>

And I need to run a function on \1, \3 and \4 as they are replaced.

I'm fairly sure CF itself doesn't have this functionality, but I'm hoping
someone can provide a simple Java example of how it works?

Thanks,

Peter

RE: Regex Help

2007-02-12 Thread Steve Brownlee
What happens in IE? It's not the RegEx because that's compiled long
before you view the results in the browser, so I'm going with Ben's
previous post that it's some other factor. Something in Javascript
perhaps. Describe what happens in IE.

Steve,

As for the CFML construct not found message, I'm going out on a limb and
guessing it's because you have the pound sign in the regular expression.
Somehow that's messing up a matching set of pound signs for CFML
parsing. Check your code around that statement and see where else
you're using the pound signs. Also check that if you have this pattern
inside a CFOUTPUT statement, then you'll need to escape it with the
double ##.

Subject: Regex Help

I have been playing around with some regex patterns and have run into a
snag. One issue the regex works differently in IE6 and Firefox. I
didn't know the regex would behave differently in these browsers. The
main issue is validating the use of character class (@#$^_*). Do I need
to escape these? I have tried several ways of setting up the regex. I
get an "Invalid CFML construct found" error.

^(?=.*[A-Za-z])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[0-9])(?!.*[^A-Za-z0-9])(?=.*[
@#$^_*])(?!.*s).{8,127}$

^(?=.*[A-Za-z])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[0-9])([EMAIL PROTECTED])
(?!.*s).{8,127}$

(?=^.{8,127}$)(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z])([EMAIL PROTECTED]).*$

Any guidance would be appreciated - Also can anyone recommend specific
books on how to create and understand them better?

cfcUnit Configuration Management

2007-02-12 Thread Jamie Jackson
I just got my first cfcUnit test going and automated in Eclipse.

Now, I'm wondering about configuration management...

My CFML sites generally are structured on the server in the same way
they're stored in SVN. Each server has an SVN working copy, and I can
"deploy" with simple svn updates. I'm not sure how the cfcunit
directory fits into my configuration.

One clean solution would be to make a directory alias in my virtual
host (Apache) to a shared cfcunit directory in the filesystem, and
also create a /cfcunit CF mapping to it. However, when I tried this,
it didn't work.

Also, I'm wondering how much, if any of the eclipse metadata (e.g.,
".settings" & ".externalToolBuilders") to commit to SVN (in order to
share with the team).

Does anybody have any good approaches?

Thanks,
Jamie
