* I uninstalled but didn't make sure all of the directories were removed. Should I try again? I would. Based on your last post, your jrun.jar file isn't even there, so you obviously don't have a full installation. I would check the downloaded file size as Ian pointed out. Then, if you can confirm you have a good download, go ahead and uninstall. Then remove all the coldfusion directories. I don't know if it's just c:\ColdFusion8 or not, maybe someone more familiar with 8 could pipe up on that one. There might be some registry entries to remove as well. No you don't. It should work with the built in webserver for development. You can try a couple of things 1) http://127.0.0.1:8500/cfide/administrator/index.cfm 2) Run IPConfig from the command line. Find out what the IP address is for the machine that you're installing on, and use that IP instead of 127.0.0.1 3) Run netstat from the command line and find out what port ColdFusion is actually running on. 2) Run IPConfig from the command line. Find out what the IP address is for the machine that you're installing on, and use that IP instead of 127.0.0.1 Tried using my own IP, doesn't work. 3) Run netstat from the command line and find out what port ColdFusion is actually running on. I ran netstat but I am not sure which one if CF. You can use the -o switch to display the process ID, which can then be looked up in Task Manager. In newer versions of netstat, you can use the -b switch to display the executable image name directly. Before you tear apart the CF installation, try testing the IIS function to ensure they work. Set up a directory and place a simple default index page in it. See if it displays with an .html extension. If it doesn't, you have an IIS problem. If it does display, try changing the extension to .cfm and see if that page displays OK. Hi, Here's something you can also do. Open the jrun.xml file located at: {Cfroot}\servers\cfusion\SERVER-INF\jrun.xml Look for a line with 'WebService' in it (mine is like this (but it's MX7): service class=jrun.servlet.http.WebService name=WebService Scroll down to the attribute for port and see which port number it is. Re: Installation of CF 8 (developer edition) is not working
Went to the file as you suggested and it was port 8500: service class=jrun.servlet.http.WebService name=WebService attribute name=port8500/attribute attribute name=interface*/attribute attribute name=deactivatedfalse/attribute attribute name=activeHandlerThreads50/attribute attribute name=minHandlerThreads1/attribute attribute name=maxHandlerThreads1000/attribute attribute name=mapCheck0/attribute attribute name=threadWaitTimeout300/attribute attribute name=backlog500/attribute attribute name=timeout300/attribute /service I changed the port to 8300 and it still doens't work Hi, Here's something you can also do. If it is one you have already tried, change it (you might have something already on that port). Just try increasing it by 1 for now. Let us know how it goes. RE: Installation of CF 8 (developer edition) is not working
Try it in the wwwroot if you'd like. But you should check your IIS settings before you drive yourself nuts on CF. Be sure you can get an HTML page to display, because that internal server error could be CF or it could be IIS. Be sure to eliminate IIS as a problem first. You'll never get to CF without IIS running correctly, so test IIS with an HTML page should be your starting point. Do you know that IIS is working correctly? Robert B.
