Good idea. A piece of synthetic chamois from an auto store or Walmart
might work as well.

Re: Stus-List Mast boot and keel bolts

2018-02-13 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
You won't seal the mast exits, masthead sheaves openings, etc. you you'll
still get water down the mast. However, to seal the mast collar, wrap
silicone self fusing tape around it and fill the slot with LifeSeal. See:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_sb5TfIENvsUnBoN2F2Y0xkcmc

That's gray silicone self fusing tape around Touche's mast. Been there
nearly a decade. No leakage at all.

I bought it off eBay but here's a source:

Recent keel re bed etc. upon inspection have found the following bothersome

bottom as well as the bottom of the diagonal bulkhead separating the head from
the v birth. Anyone dealt with replacing these or ??

Re: Stus-List Junk Mail

2018-02-13 Thread Marek Dziedzic via CnC-List
Paul,

Some of the emails are sent to the list AND to the original author. This might
be your differentiator.

Very often, any email sent to a “list” ends up in the junk folder, as it is
considered a mass mailing (i.e. junk).

An option is to set up a filter (at the provider) to white-list this list or to
move all emails received to a specific folder (this is what I do).

Hope this help

Re: Stus-List Hard bimini?

2018-02-13 Thread jhnelson24 via CnC-List
After building a fiberglass instrument pod for over my companionway I would
consider 5k cheap. Probably took me 20 hours to get the shape right for the
mould and then about 30 or 40 hours for layup, sanding fairing and painting.
Gelcoat would have been more. I spent about $200 on glass and resin. So
multiply that by 10 for sure and would be 2k. Without feeding the kids.

Stus-List Cetol...not just for teak

2018-02-13 Thread David via CnC-List
So...after stripping (man-many hours) off many years of bad varnish from the
Dyer Dow's wood bits I applied 5 coats of Cetol Lite (left over from the
mother ship) on the fresh mahogany seats and spars. The results were some-what
orangy but not bad.I thought the orangy-ness was from putting Cetol on
mahogany so it was what it was.

So when I acquired the oak gunwhale I asked the Better Half which Cetol color
she wanted (ran out of the Cetol Lite) and after a bit of perusal she decided
on Cetol Teak. Hmm, teak coloring on oak? But dutifully went out and got it,
applied a coat and it looked great!

Not the end of the story.

When I installed the rail I sanded a wee bit into the orangy mahagony and
re-coated it with the Cetol Teak. When we saw the results of the Cetol Teak on
the mahogany we both knew what I had to do.

Yup. Stripped (actually sanded) off the newly applied Cetol Lite and I am now
prescribing to the recipe proffered here...5 coats Cetol Teak and 2 coats Cetol
Clear.

Than you for the great advice and the now great looking "Scallywag".
Mother-ship is next.

Re: Stus-List Junk Mail

2018-02-13 Thread Russ & Melody via CnC-List

I handle list emails very similar to Dennis.
Using Eudora, the newest version... 2006. :)

Very reliable and not bothered by the dweebs who write spam & virus.

Nope.  Do you have the capability to set filters with your email provider?

I have a filter that sends any mail with
"Stus-List" in the subject to a dedicated
folder.  All my list mails end up there reliably.

Hey, can anyone tell me why half of my list emails go to junk mail folder
and the rest to my inbox.  Anyone else have this problem?
