Re: GTA04-N900 vel. Neo900

2013-08-26 Thread Tomas Nackaerts
Hi all!

I actually think this is a great idea! I always liked the N900 formfactor. But
is it technically possible? I remember somebody mention that the option modem
is quite big? And if there will be a redesign the fit the gta04 to the n900
will it possible to update the specs a bit? faster cpu and stuff like that?

But to be honest, i will probably not buy this device if it has the same
problems the current gta04 has. (power usage and modem enumeration)
and also i don't want to pay 600+ for a smartphone. But i hope if this idea
takes of and there is enough interest the price will be much lower.

greetings,

tomas

  Hi,
this guide (http://www.fragcom.de/server/fragcom_words) explains how to
add a german dictionary to qtmoko. You need to adjust paths to the paths
used by qtmoko, but under qtmoko ~v26 I got it to work an noticed
predictive effects :-). I haven't tried for recent versions of qtmoko.

Steps 67 for non-germans: replace en_US by de_DE in the mentioned file
  twice, and reboot freerunner.

It also mentions the .dawg file is from a debian package called
wngerman, maybe something similar exists for your languages.

  Peter

Ok I tried it with a french dictionary and also the original words.dawg
for en_US, and it doesn't seem to work for me :( Same behavior as
  previously...

 It works with :
  http://kewlcat.no-ip.org/openmoko/words.dawg
instead of the dict I used.

It seems dictionary in debian *spell packages are not in dawg format,
and you can generate a dawg file from a list of words using qdawggen
(but you need to build Qt to get it)... or go there and be happy :)
  http://alasal.be/openmoko/keyboard/

 Xavier.

Very nice, typing works much better now. This was the only thing that was
missing in qtmoko for me.

I only have one problem:

I'm unable to use the special characters like é or à and also symbols (.,?) do
not work :-(
Somebody ideas to solve this?

I'v also added the information to the faq on the wiki

Kind regards

Tomas

you can find the latest code at: https://github.com/tvuillaume/NeronGPS. But
the latest commit happend almost a year ago, so i believe this project is
dead.

In Radeks repository you do not find the latest code, i believe because in the

NeronGPS sometimes segfault or just exits, where I should send patches
 (if I do anny :)?
I thinks you best send it to radek

In latest QtMoko v33 I does not found how to download map to cache (I
used original app from http://tvuillaume.free.fr/NeronGPS/ to do this)
 I'm miss something?

didn't try v33 yet.

Re: [QtMoko] Using dutch as input language for predictive keyboard

2010-11-23 Thread Tomas Nackaerts
Hello,

Could you please post (or put on the Wiki?) where you found the word
list, and how you taught SHR to use it? I'd like to use the predicitve
 keyboard (in Dutch), as well...

actually, it is over a year or so when i last used shr, so i cant remember all
the steps i did to use this dutch list with the predictive keyboard. I do
remember that it was worth the trouble to find out, it really really works much
better with this list.

what i do remember:
* I downloaded a frequency list from http://www.inl.nl/
( i think i used this link:
http://www.inl.nl/nl/component/content/416?task=view )
you have to register yourself before you can download
* I searched in my shr installation for the English word list used by the
predictive keyboard (sorry i really cannot remeber the location)
* i took a look at this file to see how it was structured
* i took a editor to give my file the same structure as the english file
* i saved my file at the correct location on my shr-installation
(i'm not sure, but it may be necessary to edit a configuration file)
* i was amazed with the result

i'm sure somebody else on this list can give you a hint where to store this
file

kind regards,

Tomas

[QtMoko] Using dutch as input language for predictive keyboard

2010-11-22 Thread Tomas Nackaerts
Hi,

I recently configured qtmoko to use the predictive keyboard (smartkeyboard) as
standard keyboard. I also enabled prediction. It works very nice and fast for
typing. If you use English that is. So I wonder if anyone knows how to change
the imput language to dutch? I have a Dutch word list i used once on SHR. I
took a quick look at the source to get some clue where to put this file. That
way i found out the input language can be changed at the language app found
in the settings menu. But i don't know how to add a new language to this list.

kind regards,

Re: [QtMoko] adding agps support

2010-05-23 Thread tomas nackaerts
When it's said FSO has agps enabled by default they mean FSO stores
ephemeris and almanac from the chip every time prior to powering it
off and loads the saved data after powering on. The code is there in
 ogpsd.
Thanks for the info, i will have a look at the source.

If the ephemiri data is fresh enough (2-4 hours max), the
effect is the same as downloading the data from the internet. Other
than that, there's no agps integration yet afaik.

Don't know why, but i thought this data was useful for a couple of
days, not couple of hours

make it possible as default in QtMoko.

I recently bought a car radio player with a usb port and my idea was to attach

effect would be that my freerunner would get charged and it can be used as a
gps-device at the same time.
I tried to use the car radio just as a charger, but it seems it doesn't charge

I will investigate further when i find some time to waste.

i hope this is a good reason for you :-)

[QtMoko] adding agps support

2010-05-20 Thread Tomas Nackaerts
Hello,

SHR, and probably others too, have agps enabled by default. So i think it
should be fairly easy to add this. I did a little research and it seems like
all we have to do is to save the latest GPS data to a file when the GPS is shut
down and feed this data back to the GPS when starting GPS next time.

after a little more research i found:
/opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweron.sh and
/opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweroff.sh
maybe we can adjust these files? or add agps support at
~/qtmoko/devices/neo/src/plugins/whereabouts/neo/neogpsplugin.cpp

unfortunately my hacking skills are not good enough for doing this myself.

I hope somebody can implement this, or at least provide me some more
information so i can try to implement this myself.

Kind regards,

Toams

[qtmoko] using qtmoko as an USB Mass storage device

2010-05-15 Thread Tomas Nackaerts
Hello all,

I want to use my freerunner as a USB Mass storage device. I tried to follow
the instructions on
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Using_the_Neo_as_an_USB_Mass_storage_device. But
it seems there are no g_ether and g_file_storage modules present on QtMoko v22.
Maybe they are built inside the kernel?
I also found in the Devtools menu two scripts: 'USB device mode' and 'USB
host mode', but i dont know what their exact use is.

Anyway if somebody can point me to the right direction, please do!

thanks,

Re: News Openmoko Shop Pulster

2009-04-24 Thread tomas nackaerts
Besides you can add a free laserpen to any order:
 http://www.pulster.de/engl/images/big/laserpen-1.jpg

I have had two of these pens and for both the laser pointer and the LED
were most of the time dimmed. This was probably because of bad
conduction with the batteries. If I unscrew the pen they would sometimes
light up at full power, when pressing the buttons. The idea is very good
but the quality guarantee is, in my opinion, not so high. Feel free to
do with this feedback as you please. Perhaps a poll would give a more
objective insight in the quality of these devices.

The pen i recieved from pulster works very nicely. Actually, its the only
thing i recieved when i ordered a freerunner + accesoires that Just Works.

Oh and forgot, upgrade to the openmoko-10 firmware for the gsm chipset

PIN/register! :) with a number of issues, including PIN and registering
with 2008.n distros, but not with gsm0710muxd unfortunately.
