Seriously, you know I'm a fan of your software (wrote you a few e-mail IIRC) but lately, in every thread I read, you are scaring away potential contributors and you never really answer the basic questions: 1) why don't you give people feedback on their patches? 2) why don't you use a mailinglist/SVN/bugtracker? if you did this, you wouldn't have to worry about a fork: 3) what is bad about a fork? Dear List Does anyone know of a simple way to let the FR act like an USB keyboard? I'm not sure what the best approach for that would be - looking for open X windows? looking for running processes? is there a standard way of doing this, that would work here? (keep in mind the launcher doesn't stay running after selecting a game, so looking at the process tree doesn't help.) On the other hand I'm not sure how important it is, either. In combination with Egnos signals, the accuracy of GPS navigation can be improved significantly; according to ESA, users can navigate with an accuracy of about 2 meters as opposed to GPS alone which provides an accuracy of 10 meters. Secondly the University has been working on several aspects of telecommunications for a long time, and therefore has expertise in telephonic security and codecs (among other things) that could be of use to the Openmoko community. Third, the university has the ability and expertise to design new integrated circuits. Recently they designed a a range of analog-digital chips. Therefore the possibility of developing, manufacturing and freely licensing new chips to help reduce the cost of the phone is possible. Forth, while the facilities I mentioned are capable of producing up to 10,000 units at the rate of one circuit board every 30 seconds, the purpose of the facilities is research, developing and support projects that can lead innovation, the lab's charter does not allow them to manufacture more units then the 10,000 because that would be commercial production. Therefore the university has a goal of freely licensing the design to companies for manufacture. Fifth, the university would be happy to host the mailing lists and forums of the Openmoko project. If some of the software projects need hosting and can not find hosting services other places, the university will consider acting as a primary hosting facility for these projects. Sixth, personally I would like to see this concept extended, of inviting more universities and their facilities to help with this project world-wide. I hope that the leadership of the University of Sao Paulo will help create the structure and inspiration for this to happen. Finally, the university has a non-profit legal entity, LSITEC, which can easily do the type of paperwork that Sean's company did (NDAs, certification) so the community can leverage off that. I know that there will be a lot of questions and considerations to take before the community is comfortable with this relationship. I find intone by far the best music app (low cpu usage); but I can't find a way to route the audio through Currently I use mplayer -ao alsa:device=bluetooth /mp3/ I would love it if this would be possible with intone. Does anybody know a way, or is there some work begin done? btw: some info from joerg: general rule: no audio app shall have a hardcoded audio device. A setup option is mandatory the only valid botch would be to have a unique dedicated device like e.g. 'alsa-intone', then set up .asound to associate a physical device to this symbolic name nevertheless a lot of audio apps are borked and use a hardcoded 'default' device. The fact that all the triangles are orientated the same way means you get a huge area of triangular free space around each key, that lets you mash at them without accidentally hitting another. I don't think it's about training your hands as others have said, it's about providing a key with a lot of free space around it - effectively you've made the key bigger (because you can hit any are around it and sort of hit the right one without mis-hitting another) whilst keeping the overall size very small. I changed my /usr/share/openmoko/scenarios/gsmhandset.state according to the instructions in the thread as well but can't tell for sure if the current problem started then. At one point however I had completely no sound at all during calls and the other side didin't hear me either. At that point returning gsmhandset.state to the original did not help either. Well, I mess up my SHR about once or twice a month so that's not a big deal and today I installed the latest unstable: kernel: uImage-2.6.29-oe10+gitr119809+f16c3431a1a7510eb3504ec5d96677dd0fac4cd6-r3.4-om-gta02.bin image: shr-shr-image-glibc-ipk--20090523-om-gta02.rootfs.jffs2 I updated it as well. Now the peculiar thing is that the problem still remains after the reflash. I was sure that it was the gsmhandset state file that was messed up but now I'm not so sure. Does anyone have any ideas? The audio is not completely broken as I can play mp3s on the device. I suspect that it's not a SHR-wide problem either as I haven't seen anyone complain yet.
