I lost all window borders, couldn't minimize, maximise, resize, close or enter text. Once I figured out how to check for bug submissions I found this and thought it may have something to do with my problem. It did. I must have had galaxy selected, even thought I didn't do it myself. When it went missing KDE did not select another automagically and left me with an unuseable computer. So when I selected another one, everything came back. RE: [Cooker] missing window decorations in kde!
I have seen this problem for kdbase releases up than 3.1.50mdk. Even in 3.1.56 I have the removable-media useless icon problem. That was I did: I installed the kde 3.1 rpms from textar and everything is runing fine. I can't understand why the removable-media icon problem is still appearing if you use the cooker rpms after lots of complains about it and in addition now the problem you mentioned. The problem I haven't been able to solve is that of the kdm reboot option, just a white windows and you only can be back. I haven't found any actual solution in the mandrake lists and even with textar rpms the problem is there. [Cooker] [Bug 2103] [kernel] supermount prevents CD ejection in mdk-9.0/mdk-9.1rc1
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2103 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-27 09:41 --- hmm..strange. You did remount the drive I hope? Can you produce your /etc/fstab (with the noatime in there). d. --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Firstly, I am running kernel 2.4.19-24mdk (not 2.4.19-19mdk). I have all updates applied. I also have supermount and scsi-emulation enabled. I have two CD drives (hdc and hdd). The ejection problem is with /dev/cdrom1 (/dev/hdd). Here are the steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Put a CD in the drive and close the tray by pressing the CD eject button (the hardware button present on the drive). 2. Press the eject button and the CD is ejected normally 3. Close the CD tray again. 4. Run a command to read /dev/cdrom1 as: cat /dev/cdrom1 5. a) Now press the CD eject button. Nothing happens. b) If I use eject /dev/cdrom1, the CD is ejected fine. 6. a) If I skip step 5b and run ls /mnt/cdrom2 (/dev/cdrom1 is mounted on /mnt/cdrom2), then the CD files are listed just fine. b) After step 6a, if I press the CD eject button, it ejects normally. This strange behavior is 100% reproducible. It seems that every time the cat command is used, it prevents a manual hardware ejection of the CD. After cat, using another read command (like ls) that reads from the device, sets things right. Further investigation revealed that if I manually umount /mnt/cdrom2 then this problem disappears. If I manually re-mount /mnt/cdrom2, the problem reappears. Obviously, supermount is not handling it correctly since it is related to mounting. No error messages in dmesg or /var/log/* can be found that explains this odd behavior.

This is change was required to follow ANSI SQL 99. (The original change was because we thought that ANSI SQL 99 required NULL to be always sorted at the same position, but this was wrong). That is, only with 4.0.11 MySQL adheres to the SQL standard the same as 3.23 in this regard. On the other hand, the whole MySQL beta cycle passed until someone bothered to complain, so maybe that is not used as much either. For me, 4.0.10 works fine. On the other hand, with 4.0.6 the 4.0 cycle has gone gamma status and in bug-squashing mode. So maybe 4.0.11 should be applied simply because it has to be considered mainly a bug-fix release? [Cooker] acpi on dell inspiron 8100
I installed mandrake 9.1 rc1 on a dell inspiron i8100 laptop using acpi. All entries seem to be available in /proc/acpi but a lot of things are not working because, judging from /boot/config-2.4.21pre4-10mdk support for 'battery', 'fan', 'processor', 'thermal' is not compiled into the kernel. Is this because they still give problems on some/many laptops. Is it worth the trouble recompiling the kernel to try it out. Has somebody already done this for an inspiron 8100. Does it work? When mandrake 9.1 gold come out will the support for these items be compiled into the kernel? Or is support for acpi still meant to be experimental? By the way kernel-sources needs ncurses-devel. Did you specify turning on ACPI as part of the bootloader configuration during intstall? You will notice there is some script in there (by Chmouel, originally used in the NVidia RPMs I think) which gets the kernel version from the installed headers (my method was to rpm -q --qf {%VERSION} kernel-source, but it does not handle kernel flavours). I have currently %define kernver %(eval uname -r) and this works, but have had other problems, I guess what you said would fix it.
