[Coworking] Re: coworking with childcare
Hi there, Daycare for kids while their parents are coworking - that the future of work, isn't it? We plan to do this in the LockSchuppen - CoWorking in Dresden, as we see great benefit and especially less stress and lower impact with carbon footprint as bringing kids zu kindergarden is not necessary (or at least not as much). We have not yet set up the LockSchuppen (an old unused building of the German Railway is our favorite location, http://twitter.com/LockSchuppen). In the meanwhile we work virtually and are looking for easier and leaner ways to get the project going. [Coworking] Benefit of a CoWorking Space for a city region
Hi, Due to constant closing of plants and complete companies here in the area, we have brainstormed this morning a bit about what could be the benefit out of providing CoWorking as a new and unthought way of working. What are the -not directly seen- benefits for the city region? - clearly some folks of the closed down factories (if they are open minded and intrapreneurially orientated) could be interested - people are not forced to leave for another workplace - CoWorking as a living lab to experiment with new forms of work - an incubator for innovative projects fueled by creative and region connected people - things could be tried out that are not possible in a normal organization - a city thinktank - a hub for extending business of entrepreneurs - intercultural hub - what do you think? What would convince a mayor to go with you and support your CoWorking space? Thanks for sharing and yes we are working on it as well Ralf follow us on Twitter @LockSchuppen ;-) --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group. [Coworking] Re: Aaron Schaap - Introducing myself
Hi Aaron, Thanks a lot for your introduction and offer to help. We also try to start a CoWorking Space over here in Dresden, Germany. And you believe it or not the mere idea of setting up something like a CoWorking Space is uncommon and a bit unwelcomed. We are working on combining virtual work through web-2.0 and even go beyond it (dealing with the technological singularity). An introduction to LockSchuppen you'll find on http://mindbroker.de/wiki/LockPresentation What is your advice for people in an area where ig- norance of people, entrepreneurs and city officials towards CoWorking is the common? [Coworking] Re: Creating A Sustainable Space
Hello Tara, Your recent thoughts on the topic has triggered some recent memories. On Aug 21, 4:06 am, Tara Hunt horsepig...@gmail.com wrote: For me it has less to do with the money economics (CS has been more of a money suck than a money maker over the years) and more with the social economics. Coworking as a movement has been personally rewarding for me as has being part of Citizen Space. I meet all sorts of cool people, get to give back to my community and take pride in watching a movement grow over the world. It is all about building up a relationship between the coworkers that enables the function of the CoWorking space. If the money as the main driver interferes, all action is valued in money terms instead of genuine value to the coworkers and the whole. The problem CoWorking spaces face (as we do also here in Dresden) the business world expects to see money right away and as the main driver for doing business. That seldom takes into account that only customers and providing value to them eventually will result in money-like outcome. Sharing is gaining - gaining together is co-creating - co-creating is bringing sustainable value to the whole:-) Cheers, Ralf Founder of LockSchuppen (http://twitter.com/LockSchuppen) --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group. Hi all, It has been very eye-opening about what makes writers to come or not to come to CoWorking spaces. [Coworking] Re: Marketing a Co-working space
Hi Chris, Seems to be that open-space working is not yet seen a a valuable way of working and collaborating. Working at being BMW during the uprise of the new plant in Leipzig, we pretty much worked in the co-working way until the plant was in operation fully. Since then the notion for sticking to one own's turf resurfaced (not so much physically, as the building is a huge one-single-co-working-space housing 750 people in the main building). So there seems a normal tendancy to stay on your own (even if it means your closed small group). Why is that so? Wouldn't it bring much more valuable interaction through open co-working (especially across different fields)? Thinking about setting up an innovative co-working-place in the City of Dresden (well known for its heritage - not so much about the innovative fields of nano-, bio- and chip-industry) and it is already well under way: LockSchuppen (http://www.twitter.com/LockSchuppen) Right now the resonance is still quite low as we are in the early stages and action has to be taken, even if there is not yet the big money to see right away. We are focusing on using technology (that is already widely at use) in order to make the collaborative work way more possible giving people the choice to come either to a physical place or participate via the internet) It is all based on trust and openess and built around a wiki where the relevant information is put online and visible to the public. Hello, Just by some unplanned coincidences I have found that group and resonated with it right away. We are currently building up a communite along the idea of establishing an InteractiveMuseum of the Future LockSchuppen (http:// mindbroker.de/wiki/LockSchuppen). The concept is based on what I have experienced while working at the new plant of BMW in Leipzig (open work space for 750 people), seen at Team Academy in Finland (a university without teachers, students and classes building up team entrepreneurs) and people from the Hub- Network around Europe. [Coworking] Co-working the work model of the future
Hello, due to my past work experience working setting up a new combined- transport transportation hub at BASF/Ludwigshafen with Kombiverkehr, working during the 2002 flood in Dresden and being an active member of the build-up of the new BMW plant in Leipzig, I have lived in a work- world often remotely and just connected via phone, mail, netmeeting and other means of communication (other than face-to-face). I love that kind of working, as it offers me the opportunity to florish my strengths -connecting people, seeing patterns in processes and behaviors, bring people to work in their most valuable strengths fields- and I love working with several Skype windows open, being on the phone at the same time and writing an article or answering an email. So I think this group is what I am looking for (unknowingly;-)) and I love to read, listen and write to make world go round. For the last four weeks I am working on a project called LockSchuppen (http://mindbroker.de/wiki/LockSchuppen) which will open the path the 21st century of work. Have a look if you wish.
