[Coworking] Re: Any Feedback from People Who Use Nexudus Coworking Software?

2016-06-15 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Wiehann,

We just implemented Nexudus for our space and it seems pretty convenient
once you get the hang of it (though there is a learning curve, I've
realized).

Do you have any tips on boosting the SEO of the website and moving your
site up in Google rankings? I see yours comes up right away. Or does it
just come with time and mean adding more blog posts and content to your
website? Right now our website, projectY cowork Los Alamos comes up as the
sixth listing when you search for us via Google.

Would appreciate any tips regarding this that you have to share!

Thanks,
Lauren

[Coworking] Membership Terms - Legal Clause about 24/7 Access

2016-05-19 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi everyone, I'm starting a new coworking space that will allow members
24/7 access. Does anyone have tips for language we put in the membership
agreement that protects use in this case, and holds members accountable for
what happens in the space after-hours? We're using Kisi doorlock system, so
we'll be able to see who enters the space. Thanks in advance for any
guidance on specific language we should include in the membership
agreement!

[Coworking] Tax Deduction Offered to Coworking Members

2017-01-27 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi everyone,

Do any of you have some sample text you use with members of your space to
promote (and make them aware) of the tax advantages of working in a
coworking space?

I want to alert our members that their membership (and punchcards) can be
tax deductible if it's a business expense for them -- I believe this
applies to those who freelance, run their own company or even use the space
as their office when they're working remotely for another company. Is this
all indeed correct? I checked with a local accountant and he seemed to
think this was all legitimate.

We just opened last summer, so I'm looking for any recommendations -- as
tax season will be upon us shortly!

Thanks in advance.

[Coworking] Basic Nexudus User Guide/Manual for Colleagues

2017-02-23 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi,

I'm currently the sole operator of our coworking space, and I'm putting
together a SOW for colleagues who will need to take over for me from
time-to-time.

I'm interested in pulling something together about Nexudus, in particular,
with some very basic guidelines to help them navigate the platform. I know
there is the online portal for questions, and the primary Nexudus contact
is helpful, but I'm just seeking a quick tutorial/reference guide. Have any
of you, who use Nexudus, pulled something like this together by chance? If
so, would you mind sharing?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

[Coworking] Re: Basic Nexudus User Guide/Manual for Colleagues

2017-02-27 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Yes, that's my concern - that it can be a little overwhelming/daunting
given that it manages so much. I was hoping to create a user manual so
someone new to using it can at least get a basic understanding and refer
back to this document in order to jog their memory of where to look for the
basics. Perhaps I should start with Nexudus directly to see if they have
anything like this. If they do, I will report back!

[Coworking] Member Thank-You Ideas for the Holidays

2016-11-15 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi,

We just opened our space in June 2016, and in honor of the upcoming
holidays I would like to thank/acknowledge our members and other users who
have chosen to give us a try.

Is anyone willing to share ideas that worked for their space, and was
well-received by your community members? Right now I'm considering
personalized thank-you notes as well as a holiday mixer/party with free
drinks and food.

Thanks!

[Coworking] Hosting a Hackathon

2016-11-04 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi - I'm looking for ideas on how to host a hackathon at our new coworking
space. I'd like to solve a community issue, perhaps at the County level or
in partnership with a local university.

Does anyone have tips for running a hackathon and who to partner with so
the end-result actually offers a community benefit? What are some of the
topics/challenges you've posed to the participants? Any tips would be
greatly appreciated!

Hi again,

I'm putting together a calendar of TED Talks in 2017 for our weekly TED

[Coworking] Coworking payments for reservations & cancellation policies

2016-12-13 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there are general best practices for when to require
payments for space reservations (especially if they are booking a space for
the entire day).

Also, similarly, what are your cancellation policies? Do you keep a certain
percentage at different time periods leading to the scheduled booking?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

Hi,

I'm exploring the possibility of adding some glass-walled offices to our

create more privacy for phone calls. Seeking an option that could fit one

[Coworking] Re: Basic Nexudus User Guide/Manual for Colleagues

Tabari,

Thanks, I have seen that page, yes. I just thought it could be kind of
daunting for someone just getting acquainted with Nexudus, but perhaps I've
leverage that for a custom guide of sorts.

Thank you!

Hi,

You need to create a Slack account first and then people can invite you to
certain channels once you've joined.

[Coworking] Holiday Promotion Ideas

2017-12-05 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi,

Has anyone offered some holiday promotions for their spaces that they
deemed successful?

I'm about to do a mailing to local home-based businesses and want to offer
them something compelling to try out our space.

Any ideas or recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thanks in
advance!

2018-03-27 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi Lauren,

I'd be interested in hearing what you have done with this since 2014. Any
progress? I had recently posted a question here on this topic as well, and
was directed to your original post. In New Mexico the prominent business
journal is publishing a new coworking list but using "co-working" because
of AP guidelines.

I'd be willing to support a social media / hashtag campaign, which you
mention below. Has anything been done with this yet?

[Coworking] "Coworking" vs. "Co-working"

2018-03-05 Thread Lauren McDaniel
I know many in the industry prefer "coworking" vs. "co-working"
(hyphenating it). In New Mexico one of the prominent Business Journals is
publishing a new coworking list but the survey states 'co-working.' When I
approached the list editor that industry standard has become 'coworking'
she said they follow AP style (but appreciated the heads up). I wonder what
it might take to get AP to change it to one word? That might be what others
are following as well (beyond just media). Any thoughts?
