That "gamedir" value has been named that way forever (same as why 
/depot/740/ and all the Source 1 client depots still had "Beta" in their 
names).


I'm also really not a fan of how things have been handled either and 
would've rather Valve Time struck again, if nothing else to put a bit 
more spit-shine on things and at minimum make sure that community 
servers, which have quite literally carried the Counter-Strike franchise 
through its first 15 years, were part of the equation when the game was 
out of the gates. I went on a bit of a tirade the other day about the CS 
side having gone effectively all-in on the "hypebeast" marketing 
model/M.O. and how server operators and tournament/league admins would 
probably get steamrolled, and steamrolled they did. ESL's in the middle 
of a series? Whatever, start shutting down & unplugging things and send 
it, it's not like these groups have literal millions invested into the 
franchise.


I'm kind of starting to regret not emphasizing the "please spread the 
word beyond Twitter to anyone you know who doesn't use it" part of my 
messaging much earlier, because I have a very strong feeling there's a 
not-insignificant portion of people who are afflicted by data caps or 
usage-based-billing that got a VERY rude awakening yesterday, who had no 
hope of ever coming across that "What are you doing next Wednesday?" 
post either directly or indirectly through another platform like reddit.


The Dota devs, when they did their Source 2 transition, did things miles 
better 
 by 
openly and clearly stating on the Dota 2 blog that it was coming and 
that you should pre-load in advance, and then several days later said 
the switch was going to be imminently flicked in a day or two, and 
imminently flicked it was the next day. But nope, gotta farm engagements 
like Klout is still a thing rather than taking even just an extra minute 
to put a SteamVR-style "This build is a candidate for a full release." 
notice.

is not the place to complain about cheaters in Hydra game modes. If you

the CS:GO Team entry.

The Steam Datagram relay system only deals with how clients connect to 
Valve's own server network, so for community server operators, it will 
be irrelevant. Also, today's update didn't affect the server version, so 
even if the Steam Datagram system was made available to community 
servers, the relevant commands would not work because of that.

Verifying the same thing happening too.

If you've got filters that set up labeling for list messages, I'd 
suggest editing them to add the Never send to Spam action as well.

That reddit campaign had an absolutely god-awful execution. Concept 
was good, the execution on the other hand...trash. Total trash.


It's no surprise you got shadowbanned by reddit's admins (/not/ the 
/r/GlobalOffensive mods), Absurd. You all were suggesting that everyone 
go upvote the thread (and when it got nuked when they were merely 
warning you that vote manipulation isn't permitted, there was some 
buzzing about spamming the thread even more). In reality, that's one of 
the fastest ways to get shadowbanned on reddit. Even if it's not against 
/r/GlobalOffensive's rules specifically, the sitewide rules, which can 
be found at http://www.reddit.com/rules/, supersede all other forms of 
rules and/or guidelines. Hell vote manipulation isn't even mentioned by 
name specifically in most subreddits since that's already usually 
covered by a follow reddit's rules too sentence somewhere anyway. 
Asking people to /comment/ (and not vote either way) is fine however, 
provided you all don't go vote on comments and as long as they're not 
just outright spam such as +1.


To add to that, your account was four years old. You should have known 
that anyway.


bluejellybean, your idea was beyond stupid. Raiding /r/GlobalOffensive 
modmail is only going to get them pissed off at you, and it'd likely 
make the admins more pissed off. Maybe I should tell them and/or the 
admins that you suggested that members of this list go raid their 
modmail with loads of messages, and see how they'd react then once they 
caught wind of that idea, especially when you used language such as we 
should spam.


Ejziponken, spamming other threads with links to the thread you guys 
wanted to vote brigade isn't that good of an idea either. It's a futile 
effort anyways, since most people don't bother setting their comment 
sort to new instead of the default top sort, so your comments won't even 
likely get seen in the first place.


I know how you guys feel. There was a movement a while back when TF2 
server ops were getting angry at their situation involving a massive 
overdose of Valve servers and with quickplay. They did a thing of their 
own, and everyone played by the rules. There were no issues, they knew 
that not playing by the rules would get them nowhere.


Let's not stoop to Dota 2 Diretide levels here, it'll only make you all 
look bad if you don't play by the damn rules with any campaigns or 
petitions or otherwise. This stunt soured my opinion. Don't sour others' 
either.

I personally wouldn't recommend it since you might forget to type it in 
again with 1 because it cripples voice chat entirely once it's fixed, 
plus any matches one would play would likely be very unpleasant 
regardless because of other people crashing. But if people absolutely 
need their CS:GO fix, then it's really up to them...

1.34.7.4 modified the Counter-Logic Gaming base sticker image to be 
bluer, and it'll now display the team's name under their emblem too. A 
redditor also pointed out that the GOTV image was given a similar

This is due to a bug involving the P250 and spawn reserve ammo 
refilling. The latest ~5 MB update /should/ have fixed it, but I don't 
know for sure. Ido/Vitaliy, can either of you confirm/deny?

Since Dota 2 is Valve's largest game in terms of players to date, if 
there's server issues affecting all Source MP games (including GO and

I haven’t had a look during the most recent outages, but in the past there
were issues with several core routers on the East being saturated at peak

and after as well and black out your own IP and post to the list perhaps.
This will give us an idea of where along the chain the issues are occurring
and an idea of where to start looking for a solution.


The lag is affecting everyone on the server, although not everyone “equally”
which makes it seem like the routing issue could be closer to the datacenter
than a particular ISP or region.



I agree that it’s causing very big issues in the community and 50% of MM
games on US east in my experience have had this happen once or twice during
the match. Usually anywhere between 3-4 minutes to 20-30 (the game ends and
everyone is still ~ 300ms latency)



Here’s hoping we can track down where the issue is and that Valve can use
their leverage to add some more bandwidth or get a better route or whatever
the solution may be.

Or just hope that the devs release a previous version branch, and if 
Valve does, advise players to opt in to it and make sure the server that 
they'll be playing on is on a matching branch too. NCG vs. TMP and GGE 
vs. VEXX should both be fine, but A51 vs. SKDC is the question mark tonight.

The CS:GO team decided for whatever reason to discontinue using the 
Steam store for notes in favor of the Steam Community and the blog. Why 
they did so is anyone's guess (especially considering that the Steam 
store is still used by the TF and Dota 2 teams).

SteamDB has spotted a dev prerelease branch update for the main game, 
and a dedicated server update for the Valve version:

This means an update is likely on the way. Hints found by clients on 
various sites suggest that this update will be of a significant size -

Hi! You're on the mailing list for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. For 
other Source-based games, the mailing list you should go to in the 
future is the HLDS mailing list.


Unfortunately, Steam fried due to an 11K app changelist, which in turn 
fried the content servers. Attempting to change your download region may 
or may not work, but it won't hurt to give it a try.

A new update was recently released that was not already covered by a 
Valve employee. Notes for this update are:


[MAPS]
Ali:
-Updated with bugfixes.

[UI]
-Updated the spectator UI
--Spectator UI shows all weapons that a player has equipped instead of 
just the grenades and currently equipped.
--Moved the armor icons off of the player avatar and updated icon 
placements.
--Added Team Round Value display when spectating that shows the current 
equipment value of the alive members of a team versus the other team.

-Updated map selector UI to show more maps on a single page.
-Fixed usp-s and m4a1-s icons not showing up in the spectator hud.
-If the max rounds is set to  999, it will display in the spectator UI 
as --.
-Fixed weapon icons being scaled improperly in the team scoreboard in 
Arms Race Mode.


[MISC]
-Grenades no longer bounce off chickens.
-Fixed a money exploit in official competitive matchmaking.
-Fixed potential issue where round backups could incorrectly restore 
some players as dead.

-Fixed round backups not correctly restoring StatTrak knives for players.
-Fixed a bug downloading workshop maps with Steam set to a non-English 
language.

-Fixed additional memory leaks.

It didn't until yesterday (Thursday). It was stuck for some time, then it
got out due to a Valve employee getting it unstuck, causing it to still be
sent (albeit heavily delayed when all was said and done). The time of when
the messages were originally sent was still retained (at least in Gmail),
making it look like nothing happened.

I would take Absurd's advice of encouraging to keep trying as well. Dota
2's test client updates just got transferred not too long ago, so that
means a two-punch hit on the content servers combined with the (official)
release of this CS:GO update.

People on the HLDS mailing list are reporting the same issue. Best bet is
to wait it out right now.

 Is this a possible DoS attack or some other random bug?  Our other 2
 servers are unaffected and we have been dealing with a troll the past week
 that has been attempting to DoS our site/servers but fails once I track the
 traffic with our firewall.  It’s also worth noting that nothing is coming
 in firewall side on the server so if it is a DoS it appears he is hitting
 the valve servers; possibly with a spoof’d IP to interefere with our
 clients getting validated…just a though though.
