In that Almanac it has a daily Scripture reading of the Old and New Testaments, plus the Apocrypha. You will remember that our King James Version carried the Apocrypha until around 1628. So what you are saying, is that the conspirators would take something like this Almanac, and use it to code crimes? What if they got confused and used the Apocrypha for their crime timing, instead of the reading for the Old and New Testament? And how would they know which reading is where the crime would be identified from? And the Catholic Bible of today still uses the Apocrypha. Didn't the Gideons print a Catholic Bible as well? It could trigger the actual assassinataion or let others privy to the scheme know when it would happen. It is more of a scheduling aid. The theory is that there is more than a casual incidence of events and the readings. It would allow the information to go out to all parties involved without direct communication which could later be traced or verified in some incriminating way. I doubt she will share it with us as I have tried for eyears to get a copy. As one of the few who "get it" I thought she might but so far she has not and it is hers so I accept that. I have checked a litle bit into what would be the equivalent today but am not sure I have found much from the 3 or 4 Bibles I have checked on this. -Caveat Lector- Blessings, June, You are correct, hypothyroid generally follows this body type. A person can be hypothyroid for a period of time before evidencing symptoms that require medication. The use of blood testing for hypothyroid is fraught with error, since a normal reading can still be an indicator for medication. In other words, a person can show normal blood values, but symptoms present that indicate medication (Synthroid, Armour, etc.) anyway. Mary Shomon does an excellent website on this issue. The halachic ruling is that the kosher law can be by-passed to save a life. However, with foods there is a great controversy in Judaism, because so many non-kosher items are sneaking into the foods. And there is still controversy with the rabbis in Israel, especially since the new genetically modified foods may contain bug genes, etc. There is an ongoing effort to keep a separate class of foods, medicines, vitamins, etc. But, there is much work to be done before it can happen. The Classical Greek script carries no exact equivalent for vav, tzade and kof. I checked my equivalents chart that I got in Israel, and they also concur with this assessment. So, if someone were to assign exact numerical equivalents, letter for letter, there would have to be some type of relaxing of the alphabets to come to an agreement on the assigning of numeric value. Of course all historical and exegetical aspects are harmonized throughout Old and New Testament. The Old and New Testaments are certainly "equalized" in my own paradigm through use of biblical, exegetical, historical, and theological disciplines. I personally use the mathematical phenomenas found within the Bible to show people that numerically, the Old and New Testament are the same book. Lastly, as far as ELS goes... My own experience shows that the Bible does in fact possess certain ELS "prophecies." But, again we make note of the fact that these "prophecies" always seem to come to our attention AFTER the fact. Take a look at Drosnin's Bible Code book. I believe that this book was written in the same fashion as was Richard Preston's "Hot Zone." Drosnin's false prophecies were popularized only to be shot down statistically. Because of Drosnin, many people truly believe that there is NO Bible code. The same may be said of Preston's drivel and how it adversely affected the work of Dr. Len Horowitz. As far as Aleisha's code, wellIt sounds alot so far like Drosnin's book. Many "I told you so's" after the fact. Drosnin nor Aleisha has offered a single example of where their "code" may be observed PRIOR to the event taking place. And this is, to me, as it should be. JERUSALEM, May 28 (Reuter) - The man who put a curse on Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin a month before he was assassinated was convicted in an Israeli court on Wednesday of violating the Prevention of Terrorism Act, a court spokesman said. ``He was convicted under...the Prevention of Terrorism Act,´´ spokesman Moshe Gorali told Reuters. ``The conviction relates to the interview he gave on television about the pulsa denura (curse) succeeding.´´ Gorali said the section of the act violated was that against encouraging violence. Avigdor Eskin, according to local news reports at the time, stood outside Rabin's house on the eve of the Jewish high holy day of Yom Kippur in 1995 and cursed Rabin with the ancient curse of pulsa denura -- Aramaic for ``lashes of fire.´´ The curse Eskin put on Rabin read in part: ``And on him, Yitzhak, son of Rosa, known as Rabin, we have permission...to demand from angels of destruction that they take a sword to this wicked man...to kill him...for handing over the Land of Israel to our enemies.´´ He said the curse generally worked within 30 days. Roughly one month later, on November 4, right-wing Jewish law student Yigal Amir gunned down Rabin after a peace rally in Tel Aviv. Amir said he shot Rabin to prevent him handing Israeli-occupied lands to Palestinian rule under a deal signed with the PLO. Rabin's successor Shimon Peres swiftly carried out the interim peace deal, handing chunks of the West Bank to the PLO. Gorali said Eskin would be sentenced next week. The Justice Ministry said he could receive a maximum sentence of six years. Rabin was the first Israeli prime minister to be assassinated. Peres subsequently lost May 1996 national elections to right-wing Likud party leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who opposed the Rabin-led government's interim peace deals with the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). -Caveat Lector- Blessings, Prudy, What you are saying is correct. If we make the rules, EVERYONE should held to those rules. But, unfortunately, we are dealing with big government interests, that use laws to protect themselves when it is convenient. It is a fact that the drug laws get the small guys off the streets, while the 'big boys' reap the billions. When there are laws that do not protect juveniles, parents must make it clear to their children that EVERY move they make can have resounding effects that impact their adult lives. Since I grew up in the drug ravaged '60's, my mother constantly reminded me that doing drugs would affect my future. It was this fear of 'no future' that kept me from experimenting like many of the teenagers around me. As I begin to see early deaths in my friends, I realized that my mother was correct. Yes, and it does make sense for licensing, and certainly some prior drug convictions should affect the granting of security clearances. It is just questionable to me that a drug conviction of a juvenile should affect the opportunity for further education. The part that really gets me is that there is room to haggle. In other words, it appears that those with influential parents will skate, while those running on their own will get the boot. If we're going to deny funding for drug convictions, I want it to be across the board. Thanks for the input. Kill it. Auto-DCC in IRC clients? Un-auto it. Run attachments on preview in Outlook, or run macros in Word documents? You know the drill. Don't let a damn thing run automatically unless you actually know what's taking place. If I ever see LIFE-STAGES.TXT offered to me by DCC again, I'm going to reach through the monitor and shove a virus scanner up the patoot of the victim. The world doesn't need another Melissa or backdoor being passed around just by opening an e-mail in a brain-dead-by- default program. 3) Check for patches and follow directions - MS didn't tell people to change their Outlook settings while it took them a month to patch the program in the wake of ILOVEYOU because it was fun for everyone. Red Hat isn't releasing megs of updates for Red Hat 7 so you can sit there and kvetch about buggy .0 releases. You don't think the latest macro virus craze can get you? Think again, spam-boy; why do you think Unix/Linux vendors have been going batshit looking for format string holes in their software offerings? The exploits may be merely theoretical, but it's best to close them up before the theoretical becomes practical (with apologies to the L0pht). 4) Extra steps if you're really careful and/or paranoid - Old 486: $50. Geek on a caffeine high: $5, $0 if s/he's already jacked on coffee. OpenBSD or Slackware burned on a CD: $0. A kickass firewall to confound the kiddiez with the latest 'sploits and nmap: priceless. 5) Ignore the DSL/cable pissing contest - Nothing to see here, move along... I'm glad to say most cable installers where I live have a brain, and hence make sure filesharing is turned off in Win9x when they set up your system. Linux/BSD geeks usually have to take matters into their own hands, but most usually know enough to at least kill nfsd and ftpd if they're not going to be used. (Incidentally, this is also why Red Hat and others need to stop enabling every conceivable service by default.) Closing your box off to kiddies is acutallly pretty easy. However, back-patting fluff like this Excite dropping does way more harm than good by instilling that false sense of security that leads people to think its OK to let attachments run automatically, or leave all those services running on their new Mandrake box.
