For his part, Hans Blix cast doubt on the US intelligence claims that weapons of mass destruction were being moved around Iraq by trucks and that there were mobile production units for biological weapons. Colin Powell, the US Secretary of State, had made much of the mobile production units, complete with diagrams, during a presentation to the Security Council on 5 February. Mr Blix noted that the Iraqis had denied any such activities, and said that several inspections had taken place to test whether the mobile laboratories really existed. But while "food-testing mobile laboratories and mobile workshops" and containers with "seed-processing equipment" had been spotted, Mr Blix said there had been no evidence of any banned activities so far. "It's really hard," the head librarian of the Government Documents Library at the University of Illinois said recently. "We're librarians. We don't want to prevent access to information. We feel very strongly about that. That's why we're in the business." Mallory reluctantly de-stroyed the CD, a publication of the U.S. Geological Survey, which ordered its destruction after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Not doing so was likely to have negative ramifications for the UI library, potentially even loss of its federal depository status. The same thing happened at federal depository libraries around the country, most of them at academic institutions, although not at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, which didn't have the water works CD, said Jocelyn Tipton, the librarian there. The federal depository library program is nearly as old as the nation. Established in 1813, the system is supposed to guarantee public access to government information by making it available free of charge at nearly 1,350 designated depository libraries nationwide. Mallory and Tipton haven't been ordered to pull any other materials from their collections, at the UI a vast storehouse of federal, state and other records, publications, statistics and data ranging from a CD titled "Cooking for Groups: A Volunteer's Guide to Food Safety" to the president's annual economic report. But they and other area library officials are worried about the possibility. They're also concerned about the mass removal of government information from the Internet since Sept. 11 and about the potential for law enforcement officials to demand their normally private patron records in investigating and monitoring terrorism. "There is a great concern in the library community," said Sally Duchow, librarian at Danville Area Community College. The issues are prominent on the agenda of the Chicago-based American Library Association's annual winter meeting this weekend. Among other things, library association officials say the USA PATRIOT Act, the anti-terrorism bill passed last year, requires libraries to surrender patron records with no notification of the people affected. "There was a recognition in this country that what you read should be protected," said Emily Sheketoff, director of the library association's Washington office. "Forty-eight states passed privacy laws protecting those records," including Illinois. Sheketoff said law enforcement officials could get a warrant for the records previously, but "there was a pretty high bar they had to pass." That bar is lower with the new anti-terrorism law. "It's much easier for law enforcement to get a court order," Sheketoff said. Champaign Library Director George Sheetz said librarians understand there are legitimate security concerns, but it still disturbs him that an environment now exists where libraries have to think about culling their collections and monitoring card holder reading habits. The Champaign library hasn't removed any materials, nor have the Urbana and Danville public libraries or the Parkland College library, officials said. None of them had the water works CD. Danville library director Barb Nolan characterized the removal of items because they might be remotely useful to a terrorist as a slippery slope. "If they can blow up things with fertilizer," she said, referring to Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, "then where do you stop with pulling things they might use?" Critics contend that the federal government, and some state governments, may have gone too far already. The CD covering the largest 437 public water supplies in the nation, for example, could be of use to a terrorist looking to contaminate drinking water. But its intent is just the opposite – to help avoid pollution from development and agricultural runoff, for instance – and its big users have been local planners and environmental watchdog groups. The data was generated as a result of the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act and had been readily available for more than two years. The users of the UI documents library include students and professors doing re-search, and the general public. "We're mandated because we're a depository to serve the public," Mallory said. "We do a big business in helping people find data." The UI library gets calls from as far away as California and New York "because the university is well-known, and it's a large, old collection," she said. MI5's Arabic website plea
MI5 message has appeared in chatrooms
Intelligence bosses have appealed to users of extremist Arabic
websites to identify terrorists supporters of Osama Bin Laden in the
UK.
There have been fears that cells or "sleepers" affiliated to Bin
Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist network could remain in the UK.
MI5 officials have posted messages on several sites, hoping to glean
information about terrorists who may have helped organise the 11
September atrocities.
It is hoped that security services can learn more about the attacks
and prevent any similar outrages in the UK.
We are asking members of the public to telephone us if they have any
information that could help us track down terrorists

A Home Office spokesman said: "The purpose is clear.
"We are asking members of the public to telephone us if they have any information that
could help us track down terrorists.
"To do this successfully it relies on the help of the general public."
The spokesman said several extremist websites had been targeted.
BBC News Online has found the message in the chatroom of a website belonging to a
Saudi opposition group, the Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia.
While not endorsing the 11 September attacks, the group is sympathetic to Bin Laden's
aims.
"Bin Laden is a good warrior, faithful to the cause," it says on its website.
MI5 is also reported to have placed the message on a Chechen site which has advocated
holy war.
Protection plea
Written in Arabic, the MI5 message said: "The atrocities that took place in the USA on
11 September led to the deaths of about 5,000 people, including a large number of
Muslims and peoples of other faiths.
"MI5 (the British Security Service) is responsible for countering terrorism to protect
all UK citizens of whatever faith or ethnic group.
"If you think you can help us call us to prevent further outrages, call us in
confidence on 020 7930 9000."
So far, most of the 20 replies in the chatroom of the Movement for Islamic Reform in
Arabia appear to be either hostile or mock the initiative.
"I know a nice anthrax spore which was trained at al-Qaeda camp I
could send it to you! Give me $5m and I will help you," said one
message.
One person sent an image of a nuclear explosion as his reply.
Another said "Shame on you Blair," with a cartoon of the prime
minister with breaking wind.
Some questioned whether the appeal was real.
"Is this a joke?" asked one contributor.
"Definitely a joke!" answered another.

-Caveat Lector- The following articles are the result of the most extensive search I can do on this subject. The first is the most critical report I was able to find and it contains an accusation that the coroner performing the autopsy is poorly qualified and questions his credentials. Unfortunately, it is anonymous but should keep the questions open. Scarborough was in Washington when this death happened. There were no rumors connecting his to anything scandalous with this aide found dead in his office, at least not before this. Apparently Scarborough was divorced about three years ago following some scandal in which he was said to be involved with an aide. No name available nor any details. He was also one of the ones to introduce a bill closing the dreaded School of the Americas and had introduced another in May of this year to close the other outfit engaged in training of assassins and terrorist activities. Interestingly, another one sponsoring the bill, Moakley of Massachusetts recently died of leukemia, I believe it was. One thing I read said one of his sons was suffering from juvenile diabetes and "other physical challenges." Could be he thinks if he were home full time he could get his family back together with the sons still so young? Now another interesting thing that he did was attend one day of the trial of Lori Berenson in Peru which is considered controversial by some. It was at the request of her parents. None of these parties will be able to enter the parliament in a genuine election system through which the people are not forced to "either vote for this party or that". Moreover, the total support for the three ruling coalition parties is only on the level of 17.9 percent. That is to say, the country is presently being ruled by a government which has the support of the 17.9 % of the population. Beyond all these; the ratio of the 'indecisive' voters is 16.9 % whereas the ratio of the voters who have said "we'll have none of them" is 32.8 %. The sum of these two groups makes up a total of 49.7 %, i.e. three times greater than the ratio of the support for the ruling parties! -Caveat Lector- My latest CounterPunch came today. It's Vol 7, No 20. This is certainly an interesting issue. I recommend it to one an all. I think the "Blacklisted at the Polls" article which states among other things that throughout Florida, more than l87,000 votes were dismissed, more than half of them from black precincts. The evidence of truly evil Republican efforts to keep blacks and Hispanics from voting is flatly there, and proves just what the Bush family is. One story tells of a man who picked up his wife, his brother, his parents and an aunt and uncle. A block from the polling place, they were pulled over by a county sheriff who asked for a chauffer's license. When he was told this was just a family going to vote, he was told that, "You can't take all those people to the pollig place without a license. Go home and i won't write you a ticket. The people when home and all tried to vote later, but it was too late. Another man was stopped at the door by an election official who asked his name. When he told him, the official told him it said he was a convict and couldn't vote. He told the official that he had never been arrested and handed him his voter ID card. The official just shook his head, smiled and pointed at the list. He never showed me my name. The stories go on and on. Well I guess Bush will get the presidency in the end. After all we have the Bush family in Florida, the Republicans in Congress and the Republican Supreme Court. It's just our cherished democratic society that's getting it in the neck. By the way, the famous Bush morals are mentioned in this issue of CounterPunch as well. I'm sure glad tht Dubya's going to bring honor back to the White House. Please use caution while reading this article. It may be triggering.
Survivors of abuse may want to read this with their therapist.
In any healthy situation, problems are discussed as openly and honestly as
possible. If a climate of fear exists or is created by one person or group
which curtails this discussion, this makes things less healthy.
Survivors may leave cults due to geographic changes in their lives. "...it is
most often some of the alter personalities in survivors with...MPD that get
reinvolved with the cult or a cult in another city, without the "birth
person's" conscious knowledge." Sometimes survivors are programmed to return
to the cult or another one later in life. ("Breaking the Circle" - pg 31)
"...ritual abuse groups may share the following characteristics with coercive
cults:
...dogma is more important than people, ...a radical separation of good
and evil,...a demand for purity," members are watched all the time and their
loyalty is tested "...the dogma is enacted through rituals,... regularly
observe(d) rituals, rituals frequently invoke supernatural intervention,...
staged events such as planned spontaneity... mystical manipulations, cults
capitalize on members' fear and ignorance,...a sense of separateness (is
promoted) through an "us" and "them" mentality, ... siege mentality with a
paranoid view of the outside world, humor is forbidden, resistance of members
is worn down through physical and emotional manipulations, a person's
identity is destroyed... to create a new one," members give up their autonomy
to be approved," mind control is used to indoctrinate the victim into the
group's belief system, individuality is uniformly suppressed,... a
well-defined hierarchy," members are used to benefit leader(s), "mind control
is used ...to convert the victim to the group's belief system,... to insure
secrecy... and to carry out cult instructions."("Safe Passage to Healing" - p

Survivors in cults may be taught to feel superior to others. This creates
feelings of alienation. They may be programmed how to behave outside the
cult and who to have as friends.
Can people "unknowingly" reporting back to the original cult or other cults
(online or offline)?
"Safe Passage to Healing" states that protector or maintainer alters, may
sound like they are still cult active. Occasionally, this may be the case.
Usually they are not. Some alters could continue rituals on their own. Caryn
StarDancer (p 157-158) explains that when repressed alters begin to become
conscious in recovery, survivors may experience "an increased drive to become
cult-active..." The outside person might not know this. A survivor could
receive "a phone call with a message which contains a programmed cue," this
triggers "an alter who... goes to a cult meeting." Hours or days may be lost,
and when the "host" is back, "it may only feel vaguely confusing." Something
may be wrong but the survivor "doesn't know what... and that is a chronic
feeling for many survivors. There is usually a story in the mind that
"explains" what happened, and it doesn't seem quite right..." Journalling
can help alters become more aware of each other.
I believe it is very important to cut all contact with possible cult members
and/or unhealthy groups that may have handlers (people that know the triggers
and use them for their own or someone else's benefit.)
My thoughts after reading "Traumatic Abuse in Cults": A malevolent group may
insist on following rules without a discussion of the rules. The strong need
for some survivors to be a part of something, anything, even if it may be
harmful to the person. Ends justify the means. Doing immoral things to help
"protect" the group. A malevolent group may phrase their letters or end their
letters with certain greetings meant to trigger people or remind members of
their group affiliation. A survivor's alter may be in the group and not the
host. This could be done via triggers. This explains how a someone could be
spying for the group, and not know it. This may be done with aliases. Someone
could join the group to heal, but the malevolent groups hidden goal could be
to keep them from healing by "messing them up." This group may be controlled
or may have been formed by an outside group, cult or organization.
It is difficult to know when one is brainwashed, esp. if this is occurring in
an alter. Many survivors of MC are very suggestible and may be easily mind
controlled through triggers or fear. Survivors are sometimes attracted to
what is familiar from their past. Unfortunately, that may not always be a
good thing.
Love bombing (being extra or overly nice to survivors) may set survivors up
for being mind controlled. After survivors feel "welcomed" they could discuss
their triggers which could later be used against them. It is ve

A long time ago, in the course of a discussion of secrecy and nonviolence, I proposed what I called the "Sears Roebuck catalog approach to information security": publish absolutely everything. Send copies of everything to everybody. Sure, the plans for a neutron bomb might be in there somewhere, but unless you have a very good index, odds are even the KGB wouldn't find them. The Internet is, in fact, the safest place to keep information such as this, provided you don't put up a sign pointing at it and saying, "This is information but you're not allowed to look at it." The best search programs (I use WebSeeker, from Blue Squirrel Software, which pulls from up to thirteen different search engines) are still basically looking for keywords and tags. Most web designers deliberately put in such markers specifically to attract search engines. But there is so much stuff on the Web now that even a top search engine like Alta Vista will find no more than about eighty percent maximum of relevant sites. So you can see that an awful lot of information is out there "hidden" in plain view. This has two important implications. First, since the Oligarchy depends in information control to maintain its power, that power is in jeopardy because the Web contains uncontrolled and, by virtue of its "open hiddenness," uncontrollable information. Second, and most important, we see here the penultimate manifestation of Shannon's Law: Information is the negative reciprocal of probability, I=-(1/p). The implication of this fundamental law of information theory for us is this: *the more information you have in a given system, the less certainty.* Strictly speaking, this refers to a state such as a static-filled TV screen...since each pixel represents a unit of information, static is maximum information, but it's also minimum certainty as to what you're seeing. In such a situation, your mind tries to create its *own* certainty by reading images into something that is really without form and void. This is closely analogous to the condition created by the Internet. There is *so* much information out there (or rather out *here*) that no one can find it all, let alone control it all. From here a mason may choose to go on further in one of two branches. The York Rite or The Scottish Rite. The York Rite Also called the American Rite, this is the most popular one to follow. The York is perhaps the oldest form of the craft. There are ten degrees in in York Rite. It is split into three categories: The Royal Arch Chapter, The Council of Royal and Select Masters and The Commandery of Knights Templar. Essentially a destructive cult is a pyramid-shaped authoritarian regime with a person or group of people that have dictatorial control. It uses deception in recruiting new members (e.g. people are NOT told up front what the group is, what the group actually believes and what will be expected of them if they become members). It also uses mind control techniques to keep people dependent and obedient. Destructive cults try to "clone" people to become small versions of the cult leader, rather than respect people's individuality, creativity and self-will. Cult groups are any group of people who have a set of beliefs and rituals which are non-mainstream. As long as people are freely able to choose to join with full disclosure of the group's doctrine and practices and can choose to disaffiliate without fear or harassment, then it doesn't fall under the behavioral/ psychological destructive cult category. Of course, there are also those groups which are anti-social (e.g. the KKK, nazis, white supremacists) which teach hate openly which can certainly be considered to be destructive also. Are all destructive cults religious? No, in addition to religious cults, there are therapy cults, political cults, business cults. Destructive relationships and destructive psychological influence can take place in small numbers (one person controlling another person, for example) or in groups that become political state/cults which contain millions of citizens. Many destructive cults encompass religious, political and business enterprises. Are all cults equally as bad? No, there are definitely wide variations among different organizations. Aum Shinrikyo, the Japanese "nerve gas" cult, used physical imprisonment, illegal drugs, and forms of torture to indoctrinate new members. People would be forced to turn over all of their assets and cut off from their families and friends. If members tried to leave the group or oppose its leadership, often they would be killed. This is vastly different from large group "training" programs which merely use hypnotic techniques to get you to believe the leader is the "messiah" and which inculcates the membership to recruit all of their families and friends. Is all mind control bad? "Mind Control" as described in my book is certainly focused on the abuses of the knowledge of the mind. However, I believe that many mind control techniques (such as hypnosis, visualizations, meditating, prayer, ritual, altered breathing) can be used ethically and to great positive benefit, providing the locus of control is within the individual and there is no hidden agenda to have people submit and turn over their power to some other human being. Being in control of your own mind includes being in touch with your feelings, having the ability to think analytically, question, look at issues from multiple perspectives, having control of your behavior to take periodic "time-outs" in order to reflect and be able to have access to information which may be "negative" to the group leadership. Why do destructive cults say that you are anti-religious or bigoted? Destructive cults have a long history of manufacturing propaganda against "enemies". Groups have mounted a campaign to attempt to convince members and the general public not to listen to me or read my materials because too many people were leaving their ranks. I am a human rights activist who very much values my spirituality as the core of my existence. I pray and meditate daily. My work has received endorsements from virtually every major religious denomination. I definitely believe in a God who created us with free-will and wants us to use our minds to live lives of love, peace, beauty, and goodness. Joseph Smith (Junior) was born in Vermont in 1805. "Joe himself was
known for (allegedly) being lazy, lying and exaggerating, as well as having
an attraction to several occult pratices including fortune telling and
divining." (Pg. 5) When he was 19, he found "himself in court charged with
vagrancy and fraud." (Pg. 7)
Polygamy was "an everlasting covenant". Smith had 49 wives, Brigham
Young, his successor had 27 wives. (Pg. 41)
One part of Mormonism is "Baptism of the Dead." "It costs over $10
million dollars a year to maintain these (baptizing) facilities...(they
believe) only baptized Mormons can attain godhood." (Pg. 51)
"Joseph Smith, Senior...was (allegedly) a firm believer in witchcraft
and other super natural things..." (Pg. 54) "(He) was also well-known in his
community for (allegedly) using blood sacrifices in his magic rituals to find
hidden treasure." (Pg. 56)
"...In The Satanic Bible "Mormo" is listed as one of the...names for
Satan...Mormo is also listed as the "King of Ghouls ..." (Pg. 63-64)
From pages 72-85, Ms. Burns shows some parallels between the Mormons
and the Masons, including: The Five Points of Fellowship (which has alleged
connections to Satanism)," Smith and Young were both Masons, "1500 Mormons
were kicked out of Masonry...thereafter, the Temple ceremony of Mormonism
came into effect." (Pg.75), many rites and rituals are similar, many oaths
were similar including threats of death (for revealing the tokens of Aaronic
priesthood), and levels of priesthood.
One prominent Mormon, Cleon Skousen, former F.B.I. head, faculty
member of BYU, allegedly welcomed Sun Myung Moon("Moonies") home from
prison. He said "that God had sent...Moon to our country with a revelation
and a message The Mormon/Moonie (alleged) coalition involves the Freeman
Institute's (now the National Center for Constitutional Studies) in a new
global anti-communist campaign with CAUSA International, an (alleged) Moonie
front organization." (Pg. 85)
The Mormon church collects 4.3 billion dollars from its members and
has numerous land holdings and businesses. They also own 16 radio stations,
one TV station, and 30 bookstores in Utah. (Pg. 87-90)
From an article originally in the Salt Lake Tribune, "Utah ranks
second in the nation for reported incidents of child abuse per capita...child
abusers are (allegedly) spread across the entire socioeconomic spectrum and
leaders at every church level. There are (allegedly) abusing bishops, stake
presidents, elders, quorum presidents...LDS leaders often (allegedly) testify
in court on behalf of the abuser." (Pg. 94)
Even though Blacks are now allowed in Mormonism, originally they were
not. Brigham Young "declared that one drop of Negro blood was sufficient to
bring a person under the curse and bar him from the priesthood." (Pg. 97-98)

Scott v. Mormon Church, A Federal Lawsuit Introduction by Plaintiff's

On March 19, 1998, a lawsuit for damages was filed against the Mormon
Church in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon in
Portland, Oregon. The suit charges that church officials failed to warn or
protect the plaintiff or the plaintiff's parents from an elder and youth
leader the church knew had an extensive history of sodomizing children within
the church. The suit further accuses the Mormon Church of a pattern and
practice of protecting pedophiles and other child sex offenders within its
membership, by failing to report incidents of child sex abuse as required by
law, by discouraging victims from reporting incidents of abuse to the police
and by obstructing vigorous investigation of complaints of child sex abuse by
civil authorities.
The case, Scott v. Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Gregory Lee Foster, 98-366 AA,
(hereinafter Scott v. LDS), accuses the church of knowingly retaining
Franklyn Richard Curtis, known by the church to be a predatory pedophile, to

At the same time, a new generation of computer-driven analytic tools has been developed, making it possible to begin analyzing the underlying data for information about such activity. The following "SAR Bulletin" is the first of a series of overviews of trends and patterns in money laundering derived from the SAR database. The SAR Bulletin Series is designed to highlight activities or issues that appear significant based on such factors as: number of reports; number of financial institutions filing similar reports; aggregate dollar values; geographic distribution; and recurrent patterns of activity identified in SAR narratives. Sloan Director United States Department of the Treasury - Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Automated Teller Machines A review of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) filed from July 1997 through mid-April 1999 identified 982 reports noting a BSA/Structuring/Money Laundering violation (in whole or in part) and citing instances of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) activity in the narrative section. These reports were filed by more than 90 different banks in 39 states, plus the District of Columbia and Guam. The narrative sections of the SARs reveal that ATMs are being used domestically and internationally to deposit and/or withdraw large sums of cash on a recurrent basis with the apparent purpose of evading detection by law enforcement. Domestically, the SARs indicate two patterns of structuring of cash transactions to avoid the CTR filing requirement: First, customers make multiple cash deposits and/or withdrawals on the same day at different or single ATM locations. Second, withdrawals are made using a combination of same day counter and ATM activity aggregating more than $10,000for example, cashing a $9,500 check followed by a $500 ATM withdrawal. A third patternreflected in over 30 percent of the SARsinvolves international activity. Funds deposited as cash or wired into accounts in the United States from other nations are subsequently withdrawn within a short period of time from ATMs located in different countries (usually those having a high-risk for money laundering or drug trafficking). The size and number of the withdrawals within short time frames are indicative of potential money laundering. The SARs filed by the banks in question serve to remind us that the precautions financial institutions take to prevent or detect money laundering must deal with ATM systems as effectively as with other parts of banking operations. Bank training programs, internal control systems, and internal anti-money laundering audits must take appropriate account of the risk of misuse of ATM systems.
