Bug#292606: uw-imapd: CRAM-MD5 SASL authentication contains vulnerability
Package: uw-imapd Severity: grave Justification: user security hole The following email appearead on the c-client mailing list today. Thus I suppose the currenlty shipping libc-client is vulnerable too: From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jan 28 08:33:16 2005 Date: Thu, 27 Jan 2005 14:23:14 -0800 (Pacific Standard Time) From: Mark Crispin [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: c-client Interest List [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: vulnerability and fix in UW imapd Problem: Versions of UW imapd released prior to January 4, 2005 fail to properly authenticate users when using CRAM-MD5 SASL authentication. Details: The University of Washington IMAP server features multiple user authentication methods, including the Challenge-Response Authentication Mechanism with MD5 (CRAM-MD5) as defined by RFC2195. A logic error in the code that handles CRAM-MD5 incorrectly specifies the conditions of successful authentication. This error results in a vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to successfully authenticate as any user on the target system. Impact limitation: This vulnerability ONLY affects sites that have explicitly enabled CRAM-MD5 style authentication by creating an /etc/cram-md5.pwd file. CRAM-MD5 style authentication is NOT enabled in the default configuration of UW imapd. Consequently, sites which do not use CRAM-MD5 style authentication (the majority of UW imapd sites) are NOT vulnerable. An IMAP server which does not advertise CRAM-MD5 style authentication is NOT vulnerable. Workaround: If the site uses CRAM-MD5 style authentication, delete or rename the /etc/cram-md5.pwd file to some other name. Note that doing so will revert all passwords to those in the UNIX password system. Solution: This problem is fixed in the January 4, 2005 release version of imap-2004b and in all subsequent versions (the current release version is imap-2004c1). This problem is also fixed in the UW imapd version bundled with Pine version 4.62. The current release version of UW imapd is available at: ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/imap.tar.Z The current release version of Pine is available at: http://www.washington.edu/pine/getpine ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/ For more details about this issue, please refer to: http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/702777 -- Mark -- http://staff.washington.edu/mrc Science does not emerge from voting, party politics, or public debate. Bug#292604: libapache-gallery-perl: Neet SetHandler None for the images
severity 292604 serious retitle 292604 icons should not have suddenly changed from icons to gallery-icons thanks [I'm hijacking this bug, because this is (in my mind anyway) a different problem.] On Fri, 28 Jan 2005, root wrote: I noticed that the gallery images (folders, etc) need this to work properly: Location /gallery-icons/ SetHandler None /Location Please add to the documentation. This isn't even correct. The icons belong in /icons, and this location is properly DECLINED by Apache::Gallery. On second notice, the templates have been modified to change this to /gallery-icons. Doing this is not a good idea, as it will break all existing installs of Apache::Gallery, and furthermore, the source hasn't been modified to decline gallery-icons appropriately. Bug#292616: kdvi fails to display some characters of virtual fonts properly
Subject: kdvi: fails to display some characters of virtual fonts properly Package: kdvi Version: 4:3.3.2-1 Severity: normal KDVI does not display virtual fonts properly. As it seems KDVI sometimes fails to switch to the appropriate base fonts. Here is an example tex file with two short formulas: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{mathptm} \begin{document} $ f(x,z)=xy$ $ f\leftharpoonup x,z \leftharpoondown / xy $ \end{document} (Resulting dvi file attached) The two formulas look different when viewed with xdvi, which is the result I expected. But viewed on kdvi both formulas look the same except for spaces. Setting kdvi to use type 1 fonts with/without font hinting does not matter, whereas canonicalising the dvi file with dvicopy before running kdvi results in a correct display. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Versions of packages kdvi depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.2-1 KDE core libraries ii kviewshell 4:3.3.2-1 KDE generic framework for viewer a ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-3Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc62.3.2.ds1-16GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-5 client library to control the FAM ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:3.4.1-4sarge1 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 0.5.2-3 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt3:3.3.3-7 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1-5 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information eq.dvi Description: TeX dvi file

Bug#292626: df reports incorrect Avail and Use%
Package: coreutils Version: 5.2.1-2 df reports incorrect Available and Use% values. Look at /dev/hdf below total-used is 153837436-151277016=2560420 but it reports 0 (zero) as Available and 100% Use. I estimate that Available and Use% are about 8% ahead, that is these reports the disk to be full when there in fact are about 8% free space. It is however possible to fill the disc to it's capacity and I have noted no other problems. # df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hdf 153837436 151277016 0 100% /data/film1 # df -h FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hdf 147G 145G 0 100% /data/film1 # cat /etc/fstab /dev/hdf/data/film1 ext3defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1 I suggest that Avail=Size-Used and that Use%=Used/Size. I got ppp source and found it to be there, please can you included it in the package. FYI and anyone else googling this... To compile srp-entry you will need to package/build srp from: http://srp.stanford.edu/download.html (use a pre v2, or srp-entry will segfault, i used 1.7.5) and edit SRCDIR/pppd/Makefile to uncomment USE_SRP=y build it. Bug#206038: nautilus: Same thing happens when playing with dual-screen layout.
Package: nautilus Version: 2.8.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #206038 Hello, I played with my dual screen setup, and stacked the screens vertically to try to workaround the radeon mergedfb 2048 resolution limit (2x1280x1024). I reverted this as it didn't work. Saddly, the icons ended up being in the bottom screen of the vertical layout, and thus when reverting to horizontal dual-screen, they simply dissapeared, probably being drawn at screen coordinates below the showed screen. There seem to be no way to get these back in place at all, so i think this issue may be not minor but probably normal at least. It is similar to a gnome-panel issue in bug : #289114 and #289117, maybe duplicated in corresponding gnome-panel bugs. A quick fix here would be to have code that checks when displaying icons if they are out of the visible area, and then redisplay them in their default position. I am not sure if something more subtle can be done or not. Bug#291967: Confirmation of bug No. 291967 concerning wmaker
Hello, I just read on http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=wmaker about the bug Package: wmaker; Severity: important; Reported by: Gunnar Wolf [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Tags: moreinfo, unreproducible; 31 days old. #291967: wmaker treats multiple instances of the same program as one. As I find it classified as unreproducible I want to give the following additional information, because I am experiencing the same phenomenon since my last update to wmaker version 0.91.0-6. (I am running a Debian testing system). I am usually working with a configuration of several workspaces and one full screen wterm in each of them. It is very important to me to find wmaker ready like this on startup, so I used to save the configuration and it started up as I had left it, one wterm in each working space. But since the last update wmaker seems to be no longer able to distinguish between the different instances of wterm. It opens them all in one workspace, which certainly is not of much use to me ;-( I am noticing as well that there is only _one_ icon to represent the whole lot. I thought this was an effect of ancient configuration files in my $HOME, so I disabled $HOME/GNUstep by renaming it and started configuration from scratch, but the phenomenon remained the same. I would be very grateful if the old configuration saving behaviour could be restored. Petra -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#282492: multiple neighbour cache tables for AF_INET
Hi, The kernels 2.4.28+ and 2.6.9+ with IPv4 and ATM-CLIP enabled have bugs in the neighbour cache code. neigh_delete() and neigh_add() only work properly if one cache table per address family exist. After ATM-CLIP installed a second cache table for AF_INET, neigh_delete() and neigh_add() only examine the first table (the ATM-CLIP table if IPv4 and ATM-CLIP are compiled into the kernel). neigh_dump_info() is also affected if the neigh_dump_table() call fails. This bug causes ip neigh flush dev some ethernet device to run into an infinite loop when the arp cache is already populated (debian bug #282492). ip neigh delete ... commands for non ATM-CLIP entries fail with an EINVAL. This is because of the IPv4 neighbour table that is installed in arp.c is never examined when sending delete commands. I have attached a minimally tested patch for 2.4.28 that fixes this problem. Bug#292643: ITP: cl-s-xml -- simple Common Lisp XML parser
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Luca Capello [EMAIL PROTECTED] -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 * Package name: cl-s-xml Version : 3+cvs.2005.01.27 Upstream Author : Sven Van Caekenberghe [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://common-lisp.net/project/s-xml/ * License : Lisp LGPL Description : simple Common Lisp XML parser S-XML is a Common Lisp implementation of a simple XML parser, with a SAX-like and DOM interface. . This XML parser implementation has the following features: * It works (handling many common XML usages). * It is very small (the core is about 400 lines of code, including comments and whitespace). * It has a core API that is simple, efficient and pure functional, much like that from SSAX (see also http://ssax.sourceforge.net). * It supports different DOM models: an XSML-based one, an LXML-based one and a classic xml-element struct based one. * It is reasonably time and space efficient (internally avoiding garbage generatation as much as possible). . This XML parser implementation has the following limitations: * It does not support CDATA. * Only supports simple character sets. * It does not support name spaces * It does not support any special tags (like processing instructions). * It is not validating, even skips DTD's all together. = I already packaged it, it's available on my unofficial Debian repository: http://luca.pca.it/debian/ My GPG key is 6D742669, http://keyserver.linux.it or http://luca.pca.it, key fingerprint 10CD 0397 6DBE 1E36 DEA3 72CC 540A 7B5E 6D74 2669 The package is based on other cl-* packages, I followed the Debian New Maintainers' Guide and it's lintian checked. This is my first *official* Debian package, it will be follow ASAP by cl-gtk (which needs to be checked for some little Debian things). Bug#292638: openoffice.org: Reports CRITICAL assert in terminal
Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.3-4 Severity: important I started openoffice from the command line giving it a sxw document. After closing it I found this in the terminal - begin quote --- ** (soffice.bin:21911): WARNING **: Pixbuf theme: Cannot load pixmap file /usr/share/icons/SphereCrystal/scalable/stock: Afbeelding '/usr/share/icons/SphereCrystal/scalable/stock' bevat geen data (soffice.bin:21911): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: file gdk-pixbuf.c: line 481 (gdk_pixbuf_get_width): assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed - end quote --- And the assert had been repeated tens of times (I only took a short look at the contents of the document). I don't know whether these two reports from openoffice are related. But I've mainly included the first one because it might give a clue about the second one. Since the assert seems to be critical, I made this bug important. Someone with more knowledge can, of course, better assess whether this is really the case. The 'cannot load' report ends in dutch, meaning 'picture contains no data'. The path mentioned happens to be a directory full of .svg files. It happens to come from package gtk2-engines-spherecrystal so I've included its dependencies as well. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on: ii dictionaries-common [openo 0.22.40sarge7 Common utilities for spelling dict ii openoffice.org-bin 1.1.3-4 OpenOffice.org office suite binary ii openoffice.org-debian-file 1.1.3-3+1 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic ii openoffice.org-l10n-en [op 1.1.3-4 English (US) language package for ii openoffice.org-l10n-nl [op 1.1.3-4 Dutch language package for OpenOff ii openoffice.org-l10n-ru [op 1.1.3-4 Russian language package for OpenO ii ttf-opensymbol 1.1.2dfsg1-3 The OpenSymbol TrueType font Versions of packages gtk2-engines-spherecrystal depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii gtk2-engines-pixbuf 2.2.0-3Pixbuf-based theme for GTK+ 2.x ii librsvg2-common 2.8.1-2SAX-based renderer library for SVG -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Will you have time soon to provide a patch? Otherwise I will work on them. Hi Denis, I've prepared the patch two weeks ago but I've missed to send it to the bts, sorry. Here there is a patch for #288532, #292472 and #288533. Ok, I made many cosmetic changes to the code, I believe it is more structured now. Now podebconf-report-po: - uses the DEBMAIL environment variable to override the submitter of the emails (if available). - allows the editing of mail headers (subject, from and whatever else), - allows to set the reply-to field to a bug report in BTS (--bts) - can send a bug against the package to warn the maintainer about the outdated translations of the package (--report, very useful in combination with --bts to track the replies of the translators) I renamed --report into --submit. The other visible change is that translation teams are no more Cc'ed but put in the To: field. The reason is that I did not know what to do if a Cc header was also present in mail comments. Can you please test http://people.debian.org/~barbier/tmp/po-debconf_0.8.19_all.deb ? Here is the podebconf-report-po script. Normally I file better bug reports than this, but I'm a little agitated at the loss of ~4 years of personal content, and because my main workstation overheated and died while I was in the process of trying to recover from this. :( -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_CA, LC_CTYPE=en_CA (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages drupal depends on: ii apache2-mpm-prefork [apache2] 2.0.52-3 Traditional model for Apache2 ii debconf 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii exim4-daemon-heavy [mail-tran 4.34-10Exim (v4) with extended features, ii makepasswd1.10-2 Generate and encrypt passwords ii mysql-client [virtual-mysql-c 4.0.23-3 mysql database client binaries ii php4-cli 4:4.3.10-2 command-line interpreter for the p ii php4-mysql4:4.3.10-2 MySQL module for php4 ii php4-pgsql3:4.3.9-1 PostgreSQL module for php4 ii postgresql-client 7.4.6-6front-end programs for PostgreSQL ii wwwconfig-common 0.0.42 Debian web auto configuration -- debconf information: drupal/createuser_failed: * drupal/db_auto_update: true drupal/dropdb_failed: drupal/upgradedb_impossible: * drupal/dbgeneration: false * drupal/dbtype: PostgreSQL * drupal/database_doremove: false drupal/upgradedb_failed: * drupal/dbuser: drupal drupal/conffile_failed: * drupal/remove_backups: false drupal/createdb_failed: * drupal/dbserver: localhost * drupal/webserver: apache2 * drupal/dbname: drupal drupal/dbadmin: root drupal/initdb_failed: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#292505: fakeroot: fails executing 32bit binaries
Clint Adams [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: One solution I see is for fakeroot to build both 32bit and 64bit flavours of libfakeroot, include them both in the i386 and amd64 debs and have both in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I suggest using /usr/lib/i386-linux/libfakeroot and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux/libfakeroot as paths to match the comming multiarch layout. Got a patch? The same problem (and solution) arises also on s390/s390x, mips/mips64, mipsel/mipsel64, powerpc/powerpc64, sparc/sparc64 and i386/x86_64, all of which are going to be released with sarge. sparc and s390 are already biarch. Great. I'm currently traveling till monday but adapting the sparc/s390 stuff to amd64 should be trivial. I will look at it later. Bug#292654: mono: coredump when running ConsoleAnimate demo from gotdotnet
Package: mono Version: 1.0.4-1 Severity: normal As headline says. The demo can be obtained from http://www.gotdotnet.com/team/clr/bcl/demos/demos.aspx The direct link is: http://www.gotdotnet.com/team/clr/bcl/demos/demos/zipfiles/consoleanimatecs.zip And includes what looks like all source code. I haven't tried rebuilding it.
