Bug#262283: Amaya 9.1 released, please update package
Hi, looks like Amaya 9.1 was released, with lots of user interface improvements (seems to be GTK2 now). I'd really like to see the new user interface... And maybe the german translation is now not missing complete strings - the version in Debian has serious bugs in the german translation (empty menu entrys; looks like the OK string for dialog boxes is empty, too... the default button is thus like 5 pixels wide...) Please update the package. best regards, Erich Schubert -- erich@(vitavonni.de|debian.org)--GPG Key ID: 4B3A135C(o_ Go away or i'll replace you with a very small shell script. //\ Für jedes Problem gibt es eine Lösung, V_/_ die einfach, klar und falsch ist.
Bug#299278: pdbv: [INTL:fr] French program translation
Package: pdbv Version: N/A Severity: wishlist Tags: patch l10n Please find attached the french translation of this package's programs, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors. This file should be put as fr.po in the appropriate po/ directory. If this package is not a native Debian package, please don't forget to forward this translation to the upstream maintainer. Depending on the version of the build tools or the build process used in the software, you may have to update the LINGUAS variable in the configure scripts in case the french translation is a *new* translation for this software/package. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to fr_FR.UTF-8) # translation of fr.po to French msgid msgstr Project-Id-Version: pdbv 2.0.x\n Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: \n POT-Creation-Date: 2004-02-02 00:47+0100\n PO-Revision-Date: 2005-03-13 09:31+0100\n Last-Translator: Mathieu Roy [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n Language-Team: [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n MIME-Version: 1.0\n Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-15\n Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n $Id: fr_FR.po,v 1.46 2004/05/09 14:41:28 yeupou Exp $\n X-Generator: KBabel 1.9.1\n #: ../pdbv:468 msgid Unable to open msgstr Impossible d'ouvrir #: ../pdbv:619 msgid Debian GNU release msgstr Debian GNU version #: ../pdbv:629 msgid Unknown distribution msgstr Distribution inconnue #: ../pdbv:648 #, c-format msgid Kernel %s, compiled %s msgstr Noyau %s, compilé le %s #: ../pdbv:740 msgid unknown msgstr inconnu #: ../pdbv:751 #, c-format msgid Processor %s msgstr Processeur %s #: ../pdbv:762 ../pdbv:1146 msgid kB msgstr ko #: ../pdbv:767 #, c-format msgid %s $kb mem, %s $kb swap msgstr %s $kb mem, %s $kb swap #: ../pdbv:831 msgid Sort by msgstr Tri par #: ../pdbv:832 msgid Package msgstr Paquet #: ../pdbv:834 msgid Section msgstr Section #: ../pdbv:835 msgid Date msgstr Date #: ../pdbv:836 msgid Usage msgstr Utilisation #: ../pdbv:847 msgid Package List msgstr Liste de paquets : #: ../pdbv:893 msgid Details for msgstr Détails pour le paquet #: ../pdbv:901 msgid Package: msgstr Paquet : #: ../pdbv:902 msgid Version: msgstr Version : #: ../pdbv:904 msgid Section: msgstr Section : #: ../pdbv:906 msgid Priority: msgstr Priorité : #: ../pdbv:908 msgid Essential: msgstr Essentiel : #: ../pdbv:910 msgid Status: msgstr État : #: ../pdbv:912 msgid Install-Date: msgstr Date d'installation : #: ../pdbv:916 msgid Depends: msgstr Dépend de : #: ../pdbv:918 msgid Conflicts: msgstr En conflit avec : #: ../pdbv:920 msgid Enhances: msgstr Améliore : #: ../pdbv:922 msgid Provides: msgstr Fournit : #: ../pdbv:924 msgid Recommends: msgstr Recommande : #: ../pdbv:926 msgid Suggests: msgstr Suggère : #: ../pdbv:930 msgid Maintainer: msgstr Responsable : #: ../pdbv:932 msgid Origin: msgstr Origine : #: ../pdbv:935 msgid Source: msgstr Source : #: ../pdbv:939 msgid License: msgstr Licence : #: ../pdbv:941 msgid Website: msgstr Site internet : #: ../pdbv:943 msgid Description: msgstr Description : #: ../pdbv:949 msgid Installed-Size: msgstr Taille : #: ../pdbv:955 msgid Usage: msgstr Utilisation : #: ../pdbv:962 msgid Files: msgstr Fichiers : #: ../pdbv:975 msgid Infos msgstr Infos #: ../pdbv:984 #, c-format msgid This is the output of %s version %s, running on %s. msgstr Résultat de %s version %s, tournant sur %s. #: ../pdbv:985 #, c-format msgid It was generated in %s. msgstr La dernière mise-à-jour fût effectuée en %s. #: ../pdbv:987 msgid Pdbv is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. msgstr Ce logiciel est libre; vous pouvez le redistribuer et/ou le modifier selon les termes de la Licence Publique Générale de GNU telle que publiée par la Free Software Foundation; selon la version 2 de la licence, ou (à votre discretion) n'importe quelle version suivante. #: ../pdbv:989 msgid This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. msgstr AUCUNE garantie n'est donnée; tant pour des raisons COMMERCIALES que pour RÉPONDRE À UN BESOIN PARTICULIER. #: ../pdbv:989 msgid See the GNU General Public License for more details. msgstr Réferez-vous à la Licence Publique Générale de GNU pour plus d'information. #: ../pdbv:1061 msgid or msgstr ou #: ../pdbv:1087 msgid required msgstr requis #: ../pdbv:1089 msgid important msgstr important #: ../pdbv:1091 msgid standard msgstr standard #: ../pdbv:1093 msgid optional msgstr optionnel #: ../pdbv:1095 msgid extra msgstr extra #: ../pdbv:1107 msgid January msgstr
Bug#299279: xmorph: Please consider re-packaging this package as a non native Debian package
Package: xmorph Severity: normal As far as I can see, xmorph is not really a Debian-specific package and one could thus consider there is no need to have it packaged as a native Debian package. From reading the various doc files, I understand that the maintainer is a co-author of the upstream software, but also that the software is also developed outside Debian. So, is there really a reason for having it in the native Debian packages list? What brings me to this topic is localization. I usually recommend translators who are seeking for work to do to focus on Debian native package as these software have probably no chance to be translated outside Debian and are often Debian-specific software. So, Debian native packages indeed are prioritized with regard to l10nand we of course want to prioritize what really needs to be. Many thanks in advance for taking care of answering this concern. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to fr_FR.UTF-8) Versions of packages xmorph depends on: ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20GNU C Library: Shared libraries an pn libmorph Not found. ii libxaw7 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 X Athena widget set library ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-12 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#290977: xfce4.2
Hi, AFAIK, next week, Xfce 4.2.1 will be released, and 4.2.0 hasn't still hit even experimental... Shame! :D I cannot provide any feedback for the packages from http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4/, however, i've been using similar packages for sarge from http://www.os-works.com/debian/ on Ubuntu, and they work nicely. Xfce4.2 is currently my favourite DE. Would anyone please upload 4.2.(0|1) to at least experimental (I'd love to see them in unstable though). I would test them on my sid box at work. Maybe, others would do that too. Thanks Rimas RQ signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#299286: gpsd heavily dependent od /etc/protocols
Package: gpsd Version: 2.13-1 Severity: normal Hello, gpsd is heavily dependent on /etc/protocols file. If that one does not exist GPSD will not start and will not produce adequate error to correct the missing file without using strace. Bug#298955: gnurobbo: contains non-free font
Dnia 13-03-2005, nie o godzinie 00:23 +0100, Frank Lichtenheld napisa(a): I've prepared an example patch for this (attached). The patch is not fully tested with regard to time-skew issues due to the Makefile.* changes. The fact that you also need to prepare a orig.tar.gz without the font file is of course also not reflected in the patch. I've contacted the upstream author so he would replace the font in upstream package. l. -- http://honey.7thGuard.net

Bug#298977: It works again when I downgrade to 2.2.3-4
I downgraded to 2.2.3-4 and my fonts look OK again when I enable the autohinter. You can see an example in the attached png. The top text is with 2.2.3 and the bottom with 2.3.1. There the fonts look bad and if I change to one of the other option like bytecode interpreter nothing seems to happen. If I change to bytecode interpreter with 2.2.3 to bytecode interpreter I also get the bad image which is at the bottom. BTW I also tried out Ubuntu Hoary live cd yesterday it has fontconfig 2.2.3 installed which is set to bytecode interpreter (CRT). Fonts look different (the weight/boldness seems less) then when I have autohinting on my Debian setup but the fonts have still good quality. Is there maybe another package which influences my font rendering? Thanks Jaap inline: example-font.png

Bug#298967: NMU to fix non-free font RC bug

Hi Micah, while I appreciate your efforts, this NMU unfortunately was unnecessary, the current bglibs packages in sarge are fine. Peter, the file /usr/share/doc/bglibs-doc/latex/Helvetica.ttf in the bglibs-doc package is from the GPL upstream tarball. The font actually is generated by the doxygen package, which Debian also distributes under the GPL. Thanks, Gerrit. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#290338: ara should build-depend on ocaml-native-compilers instead
AFAICS this shouldn't be fixed by adding an explicit architecture list but by changing the build-dep from ocaml-best-compilers to ocaml-native-compilers. This will prevent build attempts on architectures where only the _all.deb would be built, those packages will be available anyways as long as there is a single debian architecture with native ocaml, and it allows to simply set the buildds to wait-dep for ocaml-native-compilers instead of keeping the architecture list in sync with the native ocaml support in Debian. Bug#275024: munin-node: initializing plugins hangs forever when installing in a debian-edu environment
* Finn-Arne Johansen [I was absolutely certain that I had replied to this bug before, but while checking the bug log now I could see no trace of this reply. Did you get it in private mail only? Anyway, I'll resend it here in case you didn't.] When doing a sarge-based debian-edu, the initializing of the munin-plugis hangs if the name-server is running. Looks like it tries to look up something. If I switch to a second console, and stop bind, things will speed up. Later in the installation routine, the customized bind-configuration is loaded, and it looks like the problem is no longer there. And the bind configuration is out of the box. I'm not sure what is causing this. Hmm - this looks to me as if the name server is *not* running properly, or at least is incapable of answering requests. It seems very likely that some plugin is trying to resolve something, but I'm not sure exactly what that would be - I know that the ntp plugin calls ntpq, which do try to resolve the names of its peers. If you can reproduce the problem reliably, it would be nice if you could switch to the second console and run ps af, and look for processes named munin-run (and eventual childs). That should tell you what plugin is delaying the process, and if it has spawned some helper process. I assume the hostname setup is correct (that the commands hostname and hostname --fqdn work)? If not that could case major problems. Thanks, -- Tore Anderson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I cannot provide any feedback for the packages from http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4/, however, i've been using similar packages for sarge from http://www.os-works.com/debian/ on Ubuntu, and they work nicely. Xfce4.2 is currently my favourite DE. Ha. So you're not even using Debian and you're not even testing my packages? If you want to actually help then you really should test the packages from the.earth.li and feedback to the alioth project lists at: http://alioth.debian.org/mail/?group_id=30247 Even more people saying they work fine or that they don't would be useful. Would anyone please upload 4.2.(0|1) to at least experimental (I'd love to see them in unstable though). I would test them on my sid box at work. Maybe, others would do that too. I can't currently as I don't have a key in the keyring yet. I need to sort this out but also probably need to think about getting a sponsor for the existing packages. -- Simon [ [EMAIL PROTECTED] ] *\ Fast, fat computers breed slow, \** ** ]-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-[ **\lazy programmers. \* ** [ Htag.pl 0.0.22 ] ***\\ pgpJVuUKnMXfY.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#299266: [plugin:exim_mailqueue] show frozen count
* Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker Having frozen mails as a separate (stacked) field in the mailqueue graph would be useful. Could be done quite easily - we'd need to open the -H file and look for '^- frozen \d+$' or something like that. However, it would probably by far increase the run time of the plugin, so it isn't desireable on systems where the queue can grow large.. -- Tore Anderson
Bug#275024: munin-node: initializing plugins hangs forever when installing in a debian-edu environment
On Sun, Mar 13, 2005 at 12:38:08PM +0100, Tore Anderson wrote: * Finn-Arne Johansen [I was absolutely certain that I had replied to this bug before, but while checking the bug log now I could see no trace of this reply. Yes, It seems like that , but It happens over and over again, so It looks like each plugin is doing this. And I did a check while it was running, I think I tcpdump, but I dont remember excatly, and it looked for tjener.intern.intern. and tjener.intern.intern.intern. We tried to change the hostname, so that it didn't give a domain, and saw if that helped, but it didn't. But I'm actually working on this now, I found out that if I set up the configuration for bind before it's installed, things seems to improve. So it looks like we are able to work around the bug, but since it looks up tjener.intern.intern. and tjener.intern.intern.intern. I think it _is_ a bug somewhere. If you can reproduce the problem reliably, it would be nice if you could switch to the second console and run ps af, and look for processes named munin-run (and eventual childs). That should tell you what plugin is delaying the process, and if it has spawned some helper process. I'll try , but as said, I'm hoping to successfully work around the bug now. But it still exists on debian-edu-sarge pr01, released Friday 2005-03-11. I assume the hostname setup is correct (that the commands hostname and hostname --fqdn work)? If not that could case major problems. Yes, they both give decent answers. -- Finn-Arne Johansen [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://bzz.no/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? reopen 195727 thanks Current are 3.34 and/or 4.16, and since you filed the bug against an older version I'd like to ask you to verify if the bug persists in the new version as well. The first two problems are hidden now, since gcc adds -mieee by default now. rd-bomb still segfaults. Also, apple2 crashes after a few seconds with segmentation fault. By the way, I don't think closing a bug is a great way of asking feedback for it. -- Falk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#299298: autofs: set -e still too strong
Package: autofs Version: 4.1.3+4.1.4beta2-3 Severity: normal If restarting autofs when a mountpoint is busy, or if the daemon has been killed manually, then the script never gets around to doing anything, failing midsentence, without printing an proper error message, because the start-stop-daemon isn't protected, despite the error code being explicitly checked thereafter: 30600,43 /etc/init.d/autofs restart Stopping automounter:1-0-23:03:30, Sun Mar 13 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/tconnors (bash) Since it makes sense to run restart when the daemon could possibly be not there (since restart is the automatic thing to do upon an upgrade), and since it makes sense to restart the daemon when a mountpoint is busy (new processes will get the new mountpoint with new mount flags, old processes will continue to use the stale mount point), then I think the proper thing to do is to print the message, and then just continue as before. Is `set -e' really the right thing to do? I think a wise man (possibly Dijkstra) once said don't check for errors you don't explicitly know how to handle. Since we already check for all conceivable errors, then does an extra `set -e' help anything? It only seems to cause us to not issue correct errors when we really do fail -- see also bug 295480. While the percentages are potentially helpful, I would much prefer a graph similar to the memory graph that broke down total disk space by used and available, much as df itself does. Does the included df_abs plugin cut it for you, or is there some more functionality in it that you miss? -- Tore Anderson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#130884: autofs: Pretty harmless
Package: autofs Version: 4.1.3+4.1.4beta2-3 Followup-For: Bug #130884 The fault is actually pretty harmless - we see it all the time at work, because certain mountpoints are *always* going to be busy (eg, /home), yet restarts still need to be performed (exarcebated currently by a faulty switch that stops letting us talk to random servers at random times). It's pretty harmless, because any new processes will end up using the new mountpoint, and old processes stuck on the old mountpoint will continue to use the old mountpoint. I don't recall whether the last processing exiting from the old mountpoint will automatically unmount the old mountpoint or not -- if not, perhaps the daemon could save the fact that it has registered a USR2, then quit when it can. Perhaps you are advocating the scenario where the autofs restart script doesn't ask any mounts that are already mounted to be controlled by the new autofs daemon if they fail to be unmounted, to stop there being a duplicate mount. I would caution against this -- you might have asked for new flags or whatever, in which case you want as many processes as possible using the new mount until processes using the stale mount exit. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i586) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26 Locale: LANG=en_AU, LC_CTYPE=en_AU (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages autofs depends on: ii debconf 1.4.46 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- debconf information: * autofs/upgrade-from-broken-version: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#275024: munin-node: initializing plugins hangs forever when installing in a debian-edu environment
* Finn-Arne Johansen Yes, It seems like that , but It happens over and over again, so It looks like each plugin is doing this. Munin-run calls get_fq_hostname for each invocation, this seems to be the problem. Most plugins do not check anything in DNS, and as far as I remember tjener.intern is the default hostname of Skulelinux server..? get_fq_hostname { my $hostname; eval { require Net::Domain; $hostname = Net::Domain::hostfqdn(); }; return $hostname if $hostname; $hostname = `hostname`; # Fall$ chomp($hostname); $hostname =~ s/\s//g; return $hostname; } ...this is the function in question. Perhaps Net::Domain is hosed? Could you try the Net::Domain::hostfqdn() function when the problem is present, and see if that also hangs? Seems strange that this should fail if hostname --fqdn doesn't, but it's the best suggestion I have right now. -- Tore Anderson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. To me, it looks like the init script should simply check the return value of start-stop-daemon; I don't think just removing set -e is the magic bullet. (Rest of the mail kept for Ian and the others on the autofs mailing list :-) ) Since it makes sense to run restart when the daemon could possibly be not there (since restart is the automatic thing to do upon an upgrade), and since it makes sense to restart the daemon when a mountpoint is busy (new processes will get the new mountpoint with new mount flags, old processes will continue to use the stale mount point), then I think the proper thing to do is to print the message, and then just continue as before. Bug#299306: alsa-base: with kernel = 2.6.11.x remove option snd device_mode=0660 from modules.conf
Package: alsa-base Version: 1.0.8-7 Severity: important Hi, after upgrading to kernel 2.6.11.2 I was unable to insmod alsa kernel-modules. dmesg prints out snd: Unknown parameter `device_mode' and a whole bunch of kernel symbols missing. This was caused by the line options snd device_mode=0660 in the /etc/modules.conf file. Hi Andreas, before doing so, can you please run some checks on the dietlibc on ppc64? The dietlibc package doesn't have a testsuite, but it's a good idea to compile the bglibs package, which has a quite good test suite, and the runit package, which does some program checks, with the new dietlibc package. You need to adapt the debian/rules files of bglibs and runit to add ppc64 to DIET_ARCHS for testing. I changed the debian/rules files of bglibs and runit and found that they build fine with dietlibc (build logs attached). The logs look good, great. I'll add ppc64 to the dietlibc package, as well as to the bglibs, runit, and some other packages using diet libc, with the next uploads. Bug#299312: spamassassin: spamd should probably not run as root
Package: spamassassin Version: 3.0.2-1 Severity: important Tags: security upstream There is an upstream bug that we probably should follow closely, as it may have security implications, namely this bug: http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4086 Apparently, spamd children get root after processing a message, and this could potentially help an attacker if there are security problems with SA. On my system, it looks like spamd runs as root from the start, but it may just be that the change happens quickly enough so that I don't see it. If a fix is found before the release of Sarge, it may be a good idea to backport it, I guess. Bug#299175: poor package description for svn-workbench
Hello, I agree that the package description for svn-workbench is poor. I can't parse it either. Is the program just a grpahical frontend for svn? Do I want to install it on my machine? Another thing to consider: the developers reference (section 6.2.4) suggests that you add the homepage URL to the end of the package description. See the developers reference for the way to do this. Maybe this would make sense here, since the homepage contains at least some screen shots. I hope this helps, Jochen -- http://seehuhn.de/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#298965: afterstep: contains non-free font
On Sat, 12 Mar 2005, Steve Langasek wrote: Hi, If 2.0.4 will include other significant changes besides the removal of the fonts, this is really not the time in the release cycle to be packaging new upstream releases to fix RC bugs that can easily be fixed in other ways. And what is the time in release cycle now? I appreciate your (Release Team) work, but the sad truth is that from my point of view the sarge release is as far away as it was a year ago. A few months ago I losted my hope sarge would be released in predictable future and I have just (re)started normal work on my packages e.g. by uploading to unstable some packages which I hadn't planned to be included in sarge and which I used to upload to experimental. Afterstep was one of them since the 2.0 version was rewritten almost from scratch so it was sure it would have plenty of new bugs. Of course there are some bugs, although not as many as I thought, but despite them afterstep2 is quite usable now and much better then outdated 1.8. would be far better, IMHO, to repackage the upstream .orig.tar.gz with the fonts removed, and upload to Debian without waiting for an upstream release that may not immediately be in releasable condition. I think 2.0.4 will be mostly a bugfix release (like any other release after 2.0.0), so it probably will go to testing anyway. Obviously I can upload repackaged 2.0.3 (and I will do it tomorrow), but thanks to mipsel, arm, etc. there is no warranty it will go to testing before 2.0.4 is released. But for now I'm lowering *temporarily* its priority to have afterstep 2.0.3 propagated into testing. In the future, please don't do this without talking to the release team first. OK. I will do. But I don't think lowering the severity changed anything apart from having newer afterstep available for testing in sarge now. Mind you, both previous and current version of afterstep *do* have the bug. Of course I could have uploaded new package only to fix this bug, but then I had to wait another some days for afterstep being allowed into testing. I even thought about doing that until it turned out that 2.0.3 would finally build on mipsel. (In this case, afterstep 2.00.03-1 has already been accepted into testing today.) That's great! Bug#299270: mysql-server: caused by groups in ldap?
Hi Sean On 2005-03-13 Sean Finney wrote: disabling ldap in nsswitch.conf makes the problem go away. now, the strange part, is that if i re-enable ldap for passwd but not group, the server starts just fine. the only time it doesn't start is when group is configured to use ldap (though mysql is a locally defined group). Can you test without the --all-static flag to see if that was really the cause and if so, test the statically compiled version that MySQL ships? bye, -christian- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#299317: udev: /dev/raw1394 should be created on the start, because raw1394 device drivers are not exporting a dev file in sysfs
Package: udev Version: 0.054-2 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi, There is a problem with firewire (/dev/raw1394 ) in debian - when udev package is installed device file /dev/raw1394 simply doesn't exist, while all needed modules are loaded. I searched google about this and found, that this problem is because the raw1394 and video1394 device drivers are not exporting a dev file in sysfs so udev won't make a /dev file for them. ( look at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=133798 ) Mandrake linux developers solved this problem simply by adding a line M raw1394 c 171 0 to the end of /etc/udev/links.conf (see file udev-links.conf.bz2 in any mandrake udev src.rpm package, newer than 050, for example udev-054-2mdk.src.rpm ) Please, fix this bug in debian package also, because now Debian Sarge and Sid users can't work with with firewire devices, for example can't capture movies from digital video cameras :( -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=lt_LT, LC_CTYPE=lt_LT (charmap=ISO-8859-13) Versions of packages udev depends on: ii hotplug 0.0.20040329-16 Linux Hotplug Scripts ii initscripts 2.86.ds1-1 Standard scripts needed for bootin ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii makedev 2.3.1-75Creates device files in /dev ii sed 4.1.2-8 The GNU sed stream editor -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
