Bug#299764: only affects French?

2005-06-10 Thread Miroslav Kure
On Thu, Jun 09, 2005 at 05:42:34PM -0400, Joey Hess wrote:
Is there some reason this bug only affects French installs, or is it
 more general?

It is more general (e.g Czech and Slovak users need iso-8859-2 fonts
which are in the -transcoded packages).

As Christian Perrier confirmed, we are aiming for UTF-8 for most (if
not all) languages in Etch, so it should be non-issue then.

Bug#312779: java dependencies too restrictive

2005-06-10 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: freemind
Severity: important

freemind declares a dependency on j2re1.4 | java2-runtime. Is this really
necessary? No such package exists, apart from the Blackdown kit (which is
way too far out of date). Could java2-runtime be better replaced by some
other dependency that is in the archive, or could freemind just be left with
java-virtual-machine (which you do have) ?

To be more specific, I can grab the jre rpms from sun.com and convert them
to debs using alien. But those Sun deb packages have the name jre, not
j2re1.4. Since freemind is in contrib and expects Sun's java packages to be
installed anyway, then it should be free to use the ones that Sun actually
provides.

A dependency of j2re1.4 | jre | java2-runtime would cover it, I think.

I'm marking this bug as important, since at the moment freemind will not
install (without the Blackdown debs), even when Sun debs (converted rpms) are
installed.

Drew

p.s. how does gcj or the other free java implementations currently manage
with freemind?

Bug#312483: libmyodbc: Tables cannot be edited with Openoffice.

Steve == Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

Steve Can you elaborate on what you mean by format here? If
Steve you can give me a sample database schema, I can try to
 Steve reproduce the problem.

I will, right now it seems that the macro does not work any more, so
my tables continue to be _not_ editable

Right, this does seem to be trivially reproducible in sarge. It looks like
there's been a change in OpenOffice that triggered it, rather than a
regression in libmyodbc itself; even installing the woody version of
libmyodbc doesn't get me read/write table access with the sarge version of
OOo.

I tried to install 2.50 from the oldstable release but it did not
  work.

Steve And what problem did 2.50 have?

  apt-get install -t oldstable libmyodb installed 3.51.06

Steve I don't know what you're saying here; you just said that
Steve you installed 2.50 from oldstable, which is the correct
Steve version in woody -- I don't see how this commandline could
Steve ever have installed 3.51.06 for you. 3.51.06 is no longer
 Steve in the archive.
Sorry, what I meant, I could *NOT* install 2.50 from oldstable
 the command
 apt-get install -t oldstable libmyodb

installed version 3.51.09 sorry for the typo.

# apt-get install libmyodbc=2.50.39-3

works for me. It appears that the Release file for woody still says
stable instead of oldstable, so selecting by release doesn't work
currently.

Couldn't you move that version to stable,

Steve Well, no; first because it doesn't exist anywhere in the
Steve archive, and second because the policy for updates to
Steve stable releases prohibits it. This bug, if it truly
Steve renders MyODBC unusable with the current OOo packages, is
Steve irritating, but it doesn't make the package unusable for
 Steve all purposes.

Well and what is about 2.50 to stable then, it is irritation to have
*no* working version neither in woody, sarge nor sid.

Equally infeasible given the stable release manager's policy on updates.
Also wouldn't help, as noted above.

And downgrading to anything earlier than 3.51.09 would also break
compatibility with MySQL server 4.1.

Bug#312788: mimedefang

2005-06-10 Thread Clytie Siddall

Package: mimedefang_2.51-2

Severity: wishlist

While translating the file mimedefang, I encountered the following
typos, which I thought you might like to eliminate in a future release.

_
1.
#. Type: boolean
#. Description
#: ../templates:4
msgid Should MIMEDefang use the embeded Perl interperter?

embedded and interpreter
___
Optional additional information.

The rule is: where you hear a short vowel sound (hat, het, hit, hot,
hut) and especially when the stress is on that syllable, you double
the following single consonant.

Examples of use:
happy, pottery, deferred, fission, rubber, referring, repelled,
appalled, accommodation, pellucid, palliative, matter, humming,
mapping, successful (note the two sounds requiring the cc),
necessary, bottle, syllable

Examples where it will not be used:
paper, despite, interpreter (two consonants already), directory
(ditto), amazing, purely, tonal, signwriting, alcohol, minus, timer

Comparing the short and long vowel sounds:
cap capebatting bating
rep reapbedding beading
pip pipefitting fighting
hop hopehopping hoping
cut cutecutter cuter

Words ending in L will usually double that L when another syllable is
added:

usual usually
special especially
final finally
actual actually
panel panelled
funnel funnelling
tunnel tunnelled

I hope this is helpful. :)

I use gtk2-engines-gtk-qt to display gtk widgets using qt. Droidbattles
does not adapt to these different widget/font sizes, and is only barely
usable because of this. I can not read most text, simply because there
is another widget drawn over it. The editor works fine though...

Thanks,

Wouter

Version: 1:3.8.1p1-8.sarge.4
Severity: important

When specifying a socket to use on the command line of ssh-agent,
if that socket is already in use, that is reported as an error
and subsequently, just before quitting, it is changed to not being
in use anymore (that is, it's unlinked):

| bind(3, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=blah}, 110) = -1 EADDRINUSE (Address
already in use)
| dup(2) = 4
| fcntl64(4, F_GETFL) = 0x8002 (flags O_RDWR|O_LARGEFILE)
| fstat64(4, {st_mode=S_IFCHR|0600, st_rdev=makedev(4, 7), ...}) = 0
| ioctl(4, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost isig icanon echo ...})
= 0
| old_mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0)
= 0x40018000
| _llseek(4, 0, 0xba00, SEEK_CUR) = -1 ESPIPE (Illegal seek)
| write(4, bind: Address already in use\n, 29bind: Address already in use
| ) = 29
| close(4)= 0
| munmap(0x40018000, 4096)= 0
| unlink(blah) = 0
| exit_group(1) = ?

Either it should be unlinked and then recreated, or it should be left
alone (I'd prefer the latter, to facilitate an easy one agent for all
sessions-setup), but as it's now, it certainly is a pretty silly
behaviour.

Bug#312720: rpc.mountd ignoring tcpd restrictions

Apparently I have a custom firewall rule to block the nfsd ports.
But none for statd or mountd? Is it possible that they restricted their

unlikely, and yet why would I have blocked nfsd and not the others?
 Doesn't matter, in the end.

So, this should be downgraded to 'wishlist', keep it's security tag (I
 think).
Done.

It would certainly make my day if these daemons only listened on
addresses in /etc/exports, or on the interfaces implied by the contents
of /etc/exports. To me it seems rather 1970's of these programs to be
so gragarious in their habits of listening on 0.0.0.0 no matter what.
Or perhaps it could take some arguments on the command line, ala dhcpd,
for the allowed interfaces to bind.

Bug#306002: libmail-box-perl: needs netbase in Build-Depends

2005-06-10 Thread Niko Tyni
Hi,

the hanging of 'make test' while building this package is because the
tests need /etc/protocols to be present.

43pop3/01basic.Use of uninitialized value in getprotobynumber at
/usr/share/perl/5.8/IO/Socket/INET.pm line 133, $server line 1.

The package builds succesfully in a sarge pbuilder chroot with netbase
added to Build-Depends.

There are still the other failed tests in 40mbox/40append, but they
aren't FTBFS.

Bug#296889: Bug presence confirmation, Bug __BUGNR__

2005-06-10 Thread Gabor Kiss [Bitman]
A long time ago in a galaxy not far away (this one),

you filed a bug report against the package icewm, with the description:

icewm: minimized windows are placed out of workspace

which has been registred as bug number 296889 [1] in our bug tracking
 system.

In the meantime a new upstream version of the software has been made
available in Debian. Few days ago the new Debian Stable release appeared with
the potentially fixed version of icewm.

Please test it and see if the problem you reported still persists. If the
problem is gone, please close your report by sending a short explanation mail
 to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
And please try to react to this message in appropriate time (few weeks).

Dear Eduard,

Problem is NOT solved.

Right, this does seem to be trivially reproducible in sarge.

Correction; after having switched driver versions back and forth a few
times, it appears that 3.51.09 *does* let me update tables through the OOo
GUI. I'm not sure what the difference is between my test the first time,
and my subsequent tests.

So, at this point I would need to see a table spec that does *not* work with
3.51.09, so that I can try to reproduce the problem again.

The script /etc/ha.d/resource.d/LVM will not work with LVM2 utilities
due to changes in output and command line arguments. The attached patch
 fixes it.

Hi,

I am thinking that the attached patch might be better as
it will allow both the new-style and old-style LVM commands to work.
Are you able to test this?

Bug#290480: aptitude: One solution

2005-06-10 Thread Mikael Nilsson
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.15.9-2
Followup-For: Bug #290480

I had precisely this problem after a Ctrl-C at the wrong time.

The solution for me was to remove one of the source lines in
/etc/apt/sources.list that at the time had packages that were not
downloadable. aptitude update and then it worked.

I think this has something to do with undownloadable packages or
 unreachable archives.

The problem is not new. See, for example,

 http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2002/09/msg04996.html

Bug#312806: cacti: Manual scripts fails

2005-06-10 Thread Gaetan RYCKEBOER
Package: cacti
Version: 0.8.6c-7
Severity: important

Since the migration of cacti, I presume after crossing a few sources,
from a few month's release, CACTI is not able to execute personal
scripts, and then, update correctly the RRD and then produce statistics
using those scripts.

For now, it appears that only SNMP datas are available.
I presume it would be a path problem, since the multiple cacti logs in
full verbose mode, complains regularly on paths.

Bug#312805: elinks: Active mode IPv6 ftp connections crash

2005-06-10 Thread Mikael Magnusson
Package: elinks
Version: 0.10.4-7
Severity: important
Tags: patch

IPv6 ftp connections crash if set protocol.ftp.use_epsv = 0 is set in
elisp.conf.

The crash is caused by get_pasv6_socket, which overwrites the stack since it
clears an argument of type struct sockaddr_storage in get_pasv6_socket, but
it was passed a struct sockaddr_in6 as parameter. The size of
struct sockaddr_storage (128) is larger than struct sockaddr_in6 (28), which
leads to overwriting the stack.

Crash output:

Bug#307995: Information from the upstream

2005-06-10 Thread Christoph Haas
This is what the upstream says about the bug you discovered:

+--
| Just checked into CVS (available within 24 hours) are fixes for 2. and
| 4. above. Technically, column mode's error handling on menu use was
| improved to break cleanly and avoid remnants being inserted. This was
| a partial solution, some other menu items still use the old :anoremenu
| syntax rather than the new :imenu/:vmenu pair required to avoid
| problems. The entire Help menu is now ok, the others are high priority
| on the ToDo list.
|
| Unfortunately, 1. and 3. will remain broken since Vim menus can not
| distinguish between selections (visual mode) and column mode (visual
| blockwise). Short of removing the entire menu bar during column mode,
| I have no idea how to solve this. But at least we can ensure the
| user's document is not altered unexpectedly.

As soon as there is a new stable release I'll provide a Debian package.

I have tried fluxbox 0.9.11 0.9.12 0.9.13 (not at the same time) and they
all have the same problem, suddenly the menu misteriously disappears, my
 entrances at ~/.fluxbox/init, ~/.fluxbox/menu and ~/.fluxbox/keys are
 correct, i have
installed the fluxbox recommended packages, but nothing stops my menu of
disappearing, now, when the menu disappears none of the key combinations
works either nor i can change the time format of the clock, change the
desktop name or introduce a command into the little fbrun window (launched
from a terminal), but i still have the taskbar/desk menu appearing when i
right or center click on it, i can think of any possible problem, so plz let
me know if you fix this, until then im handicapped

p.s: i have reviewd the init, menu, and key configurations 'n' times,
 regenerated,etc

Bug#271816: [Valgrind-users] strange double free with a multi threaded program

On 6/9/05, Ludovic Drolez [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Yes. The bug is as follows:

   new = calloc(1, sizeof(thread_data)); ...
   pthread_create(new-tid, ..., new);

At this point it is indeterminate which thread goes first -- the
current one or the new one. If the new thread runs to
*completion* (including the free(data) on line 736) *before* the
current thread had a chance to write new-tid, then you'll have
the bug which VG cought for you: writing to now dangling memory.

Bug#312809: mozilla-firefox: hangs with 100% cpu loading a page with 'mindterm' applet, and Sun's jre1.5.0_02

2005-06-10 Thread oo-ngb
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0.4-2
Severity: normal

hello,

I have an extranet site with a page taht offers ssh access through
'mindterm' applet, either the free one that ships w/ Debian, or 2.3.1 and
2.4.2 limited usage versions from AppGate.
All of them run ~fine in mozilla 1.7.x from mozilla.org and firefox 1.0.1
backport on a Woddy system, and latest Sun's jre1.5.0_02.
But here on Sarge, and Debian's mozilla* packages, the applet starts and
hangs while the applet's term window shows ~'init rnd number generator',
and mozilla* hangs with 100% cpu usage. Need a kill -9 on both mozilla
and jvm.

I've tried other pages w/ applets and they work, so far seems the issue
is with these mindterm* apps.

Sure on *nix there's little point to use an J-applet based xterm, but need
to replicate users experience for support.

thanks

Bug#312810: Apache2 consumes 100% CPU after several LDAP authenticated requests

2005-06-10 Thread Geert Nijpels
Package: apache2-utils
Version: 2.0.54-4

It looks like this problem is related to bug #307567. Apache starts
consuming 100% CPU after some requests. Restarting Apache lets it serve
pages for a few minutes again.

Downgrading to apache* 2.0.54-2 fixed the problem. We use
apache2-mpm-prefork on an up-to-date sarge installation.

Bug#312669: /sbin/ifconfig: Add ifconfig to user path

Hello Olaf,

On Thu, Jun 09, 2005 at 02:58:21PM +0200, Olaf van der Spek wrote:
ifconfig is in /sbin and only in root's path. But ifconfig is runnable

The problem here is that ifconfig must be in sbin by FHS and by history
(would break too many scripts). So moving is not an option. I can however
put a symlink in /bin, however I am not sure how other DDs think about it,
as this will set a bad precedence.

So I am inclined to ignore this wishlist bug, however I wait for reponses on
the developer mailing list.

Bug#312811: harden-doc: Refers to unsupported and outdated Debian versions

2005-06-10 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: harden-doc
Version: 3.2.4
Severity: normal

  doc/harden-doc/html/securing-debian-howto/ch3.en.html

The footprint in Debian 2.1 wasn't as tight as in Debian 2.2
(some inetd services were enabled by default) and in Debian 2.2
the rpc portmapper is enabled upon installation.

I think the complete manual should not refer to Debian versions below 3.0
because we do not even support these. There might be more examples to
outdated versions in the whole text.

Moreover I'm not convinced whether it is reasonable to mention rescue floppy
discs containing 2.2 kernels (when discussing the filesystem to use), but
this is no bug - I just wanted to mention this for further discussion if
somebody touches this page.

Kind regards and thanks for maintaining this package

Andreas.

Description : personal desktop wiki applet for the GNOME desktop
environment

Newton is a desktop wiki applet for the GNOME2 desktop environment. You enter
your notes and information in a simple wiki-like syntax and Newton formats it
in rich HTML for you! It is designed to make the creation of richly formatted
documents of any type as simple and quick as possible.
..
Newton requires no web server (and therefore is not shared) to use. Just add
the applet to your panel and it is ready to use. You make notes using a simple
wiki markup, and the program renders the resulting HTML in an embedded gecko
widget.

Bug#312816: vim-latexsuite: F5 doesn't work properly when showcmd is set

2005-06-10 Thread Thomas Weber
Package: vim-latexsuite
Version: 0.20041219-2

Hello,

when showcmd is set, pressing F5 after an environment name (e.g. align)
results in the following command line being shown:
::call histdel(/, -1)|let @/=g:Tex_LastSearchPattern
and a 'press enter' message.

While perhaps not a bug in itself, it's annoying.

It contains one if_nameindex structure for every IPv4 address
 configured on the interface.

Well, glibc 2.3.2 uses ioctl(SIOCGIFCONF) to get the list of network
addresses. However the Linux kernel implements this ioctl for IPV4 only,
and the IPV4 implementation returns one ifconf structure for every
configured address. So what are you seeing is just glibc reporting
whatever it gets from the kernel.

You can try glibc 2.3.5 from experimental which AFAIK uses netlink
instead of SIOCGIFCONF. However that may bring other problems since
netlink is not a reliable protocol and it may drop messages if the
machine is loaded.

Just like vfat volumes, iso9660 volumes should have the utf8 option

Bug#312820: RFP:tesseracttrainer-0.1.4 - view a 4d hypercube

2005-06-10 Thread Andy Southgate

Package: tesseracttrainer

Version: 0.1.4

Hi,

I've written a
package called Tesseract Trainer. It appears to work and is getting a
reasonable response here:

http://www.happypenguin.org/show?Tesseract%20Trainer

If somebody would
like to package this for Debian Id be most grateful. A selection of
source packages can be found at http://mushware.com/dload.php?action="">.
PAD files can be found in amongst http://mushware.com/files.

Description:

Tesseract Trainer
generates a full screen real time display of a rotating tesseract - the
equivalent of the cube in 4 dimensions. This app also adds point textures,
which give you a feel of what each of the eight faces are doing. There's a
stereoscopic option which adds 3D depth to the projection from 4D, music and
numerous options to play with. I'm very keen to get feedback as to whether
anyone can 'see' the 4D effect here.

The application
contains a number of unique features. Point textures convey the orientation of
each of the faces as the hypercube rotates. The two invariant planes of the
rotation are shown. Any number of faces can be drawn, so each can be followed
in turn. The facets of each face can be textured, and faces on each axis are
shown in different colours to distinguish them. A manual is provided in PDF
format, together with key control help whilst the application is running.
Display resolution can be selected to match the display. Finally, some
experimental seven-time music creates a bit of atmosphere.

Bug#312821: Configuration is world-readable

2005-06-10 Thread Jerome Warnier

All configuration files are world-readable. As settings.php includes a
clear-text password and login to the database, this it highly unsecure,
hence the severity critical. Wish I had seen this before Sarge's
release.

Yes. The bug is as follows:

  new = calloc(1, sizeof(thread_data)); ...
  pthread_create(new-tid, ..., new);

At this point it is indeterminate which thread goes first -- the
current one or the new one. If the new thread runs to
*completion* (including the free(data) on line 736) *before* the
current thread had a chance to write new-tid, then you'll have
the bug which VG cought for you: writing to now dangling memory.

Yes but, new-tid is malloc'd for each new thread, it's not shared.
So for example, the new thread cannot free the memory calloc'd for the
current thread...

It is shared, since pthread_create writes the new-tid field in the
*current* thread, not in the spawned one (where it might be freed()
before the *current* thread comes to run again)

Ok, now I understand. I thought that the 1st thing that pthread_create() did,
was to assign a value to new-tid. But you say that it might work like this:

pthread_create(...):
clone()
in my thread : free(new)
new-tid = segfault

So, we should never allocate memory for new-tid to fix this bug.

Many thanks for your valuable explanations !

Cheers,

Hi,

from the 'apt-cache show freemind' output:

Use java-package to create a required Sun/Blackdown Java Runtime package.
FreeMind doesn't work with free (and incomplete) Java implementations.

So, to be specific to your case:
1. install java-package and create your own Java package.
2. FreeMind doesn't work with gcj.

If you don't shout very loud, I'll close the case in a short while.

Hope this helps, Eric

Bug#312822: iso9660 filesystem not marked as supporting iocharset

In fs.c, the 'iso9660' filesystem isn't marked as supporting the
'iocharset' mount option (whereas it really does -- and it's useful for
Joliet-extended volumes). The attached patch remedies that.

Bug#149127: upper case Umlauts at beginning of word don't work with flyspell

Hi all,

I am reviewing the spellcheck related {x}emacs bugs,

 start xemacs.
 open a new file foobar.tex

 type M-x ispell-change-dictionary
 type ndeutsch8
 type M-x flyspell
 to enter flyspell mode.

 Enter the german word
äußerst. it will be black which means all is ok with that word.
enter kjshdf to see it marked red.

 ok now try:

 änderung

it will be yellow which means a slight error in the word. use the
second mouse button to get Änderung as a proposal, which is correct,
since one must write this word in upper case. choose that alternative.
now you will see Änderung as expected, but the Ä is black, the
rest is red. the Ä at the beginning of the word is not considered a
 part of the word.

That seems an encoding problem, where Ä is internally differently in xemacs
until the file is saved (lack of latin fonts unification). There have been a
lot of woody-sarge changes in both xemacs and ispell.el (now provided by
dictionaries-common package), so please check if that problem still holds.

I remember some possibly related problems appearing when LANG was an euro
variant (iso-8859-15), because the same char was considered internally
different if iso-8859-1 or iso-8859-15, so if you write as iso-8859-15 and
flyspell returns the corrected char as iso-8859-1, they are internally
considered as different, even being the same char. If that is the reason,
if you save that file, reopen it, and spellcheck it, Ä should be
spellchecked O.K.

I have tried to reproduce it, but everything seems to be working here,

änderung
Änderung
dfsdfs
äußerst

flyspell-buffer only tags änderung and dfsdfs as mispelled. Please
confirm if that is the same at your site and we can close this bug
report.

Thanks for your feedback,

Cheers,

Bug#312483: libmyodbc: Tables cannot be edited with Openoffice.

2005-06-10 Thread Uwe Brauer
Steve == Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

[snip]

Steve Right, this does seem to be trivially reproducible in
Steve sarge. It looks like there's been a change in OpenOffice
Steve that triggered it, rather than a regression in libmyodbc
Steve itself; even installing the woody version of libmyodbc
Steve doesn't get me read/write table access with the sarge
Steve version of OOo.

Your are talking about using the macro, no?

[snip]

Sorry, what I meant, I could *NOT* install 2.50 from oldstable
 the command
 apt-get install -t oldstable libmyodb

installed version 3.51.09 sorry for the typo.

Steve # apt-get install libmyodbc=2.50.39-3

Thanks for that one.

Steve works for me. It appears that the Release file for woody still says
Steve stable instead of oldstable, so selecting by release doesn't work
Steve currently.

[snip]

Steve And downgrading to anything earlier than 3.51.09 would also break
Steve compatibility with MySQL server 4.1.
Ok I was afraid of that, I could try the MySQL server which would
work for the 2.50 driver though, but maybe this would not work
neither (maybe I should start to use pinning.)

Now it turns out that I have a serious connection problem. The
latest upgrade of mysql which I downloaded yesterday, does not
allow anonymous connection anymore.

So right now I can't do any testing anymore on the Laptop with
the most recent Debian version.

I would highly appreciate if you could just tell me about my
.odbc setting, which I obviously have to change.

I am asking you this since I am in a state of
desperation (strictly speaking that question is a little off topic).

In recent years I followed the instructions found in
www.unixodbc.org/doc/OOoMySQL.pdf
so I used the following .odbc.ini (in my home dir) and

--8schnipp-8---
[MySQL-test]
Description = MySQL database test
Driver = MySQL
Server = localhost
user = oub
Database = test
Port = 3306
Socket =
Option =
Stmt =
--8schnapp-8---

ocbcinst.ini files in /etc

--8schnipp-8---

Description = MySQL driver
Driver  = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so
Setup   = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbcmyS.so
FileUsage   = 1
--8schnapp-8---

Now debian overwrites the file in /etc by

--8schnipp-8---
[MySQL]
Description = MySQL driver
Driver  = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so
Setup   = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbcmyS.so
CPTimeout =
CPReuse =
FileUsage   = 1

--8schnapp-8---

- anonymous connection is now disabled, does this mean I have
to set in my odbc.ini user = oub?

- is the name conflict of [MySQL] in odbcinst.ini and
[MySQL-test] a problem. I changed [MySQL-test] to [MySQL] in
my .odbc.ini file but still I get the message:

[ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect

What can I do now?

Thanks

Yes, I'm integrating a patch to have mon run as its own user rather than
daemon, and it adds an /etc/default/mon file. I'll have it get switches
from there as well.

I would like to set mon to use -l by default, and have an aversion to
 modifying startup scripts.

FYI, I am probably going to turn -l on by default at well.

Hi,

thanks for disabling doxygen-gui on hurd-i386, however, the
libqt3-mt-dev and libqt3-compat-headers Build-Dependencies need to be
conditionalized as well in order to make doxygen build fine on
hurd-i386:

The following central src deps are (probably) missing:
  tetex-bin, xlibs-dev ( 4.1.0)

I just verified that simply adding [!hurd-i386] to libqt3-mt-dev and

If you prefer the active tense over the passive:

This configuration program has detected a MLDonkey configuration,

when i log in on a VT as root and su to siward,
then siward's .bashrc changes colors of text in VT,

 The cause is:
   alias ls='ls -color'
just comment this out. You can modify /etc/skel/.bashrc
to make sure it doesn't come back.

I am closing this bug, as I agree it is a userspace configuration
issue, not a kernel problem.

As I wrote, add a script to /etc/hotplug.d/ieee1394/. Make it log the
environment and you will see which variables you can test for.
But as hch explained, bus rescans can crash the system so I will not
add such a script to the package (and I do not want to waste time
supporting 2.4 kernels anyway).

As said even a hotplug script on 2.4.x would be dangerous. Anything
that requires hotplugging or rescanning of scsi devices should
absolutely use 2.6.x.

Bug#288774: Confirmation and workaround for latex/pstex 'mn' characters

2005-06-10 Thread Nicolas Kowalski
Hello,

Since we upgraded our workstations to 3.1, all users of xfig+latex
exporting their fig documents to latex/pstex files have the 'mn' letters
appearing in the dvi or ps documents.

This is not a problem of not including the color package (which we do),
cf. this thread:
http://groups.google.fr/group/comp.text.tex/browse_thread/thread/49275678e341adb/5da05e616b8b65ea?q=\mddefault+xfigrnum=1hl=fr#5da05e616b8b65ea

One student found a workaround, by resetting the values of \updefault
and \mddefault in their documents like this:

\def\mddefault{}
\def\updefault{}

But this is only a workaround, not a real solution...

Thanks in advance,

Description: A font viewer for Type 1 and TrueType fonts
gfontview is a font viewer for outline fonts, PostScript(tm) Type 1 and
 TrueType(tm).
 .
gfontview allows you to display a particular character or string of a
font in an own window, thus allowing a comparison between several fonts
with a particular string sample. This character or string can be
antialiased (smoothed). The string can also consider the kerning pairs if
available in the AFM or TTF file. The displayed character or string can be
 saved in GIF format.
 .
A table with all glyphs in the font (for PostScript Type 1 fonts also
in several encodings) can also be created. A custom encoding will be
generated on the fly to allow you to see all characters (also not
encoded ones) in a Type 1 font, the so called Custom encodings.
 .
You can also print a sample of a font. The program generates PostScript
code with sample strings in several sizes, which you can download to any
 PostScript printer or to ghostscript.

Description: Convert between character sets in Perl
The iconv() family of functions from XPG4 define an API for converting
between character sets (e.g. UTF-8 to Latin1, EBCDIC to ASCII). They
 are provided by libc6
 .
This package allows access to them from Perl via the Text::Iconv
 package.
