Not good[TM]. I'll open a wishlist bug to have that changed. Should be that hard to source /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf at the beginning of these scripts and set the values of TEXMFMAIN, TEXMFDIST etc. only the variables are empty after /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf has been sourced. Rewriting the stuff in C? IMHO the best solution, but probably even more inconvenient than compiling it statically :) 2. Moving libstdc++ to /lib? Probably the more future-proof approach. There's surely other software that would also profit of it (smartctl, for example). I believe to remember darkly about some discussions about that. It shouldn't be using it. sbuild-createchroot can't use schroot to finish final setup of the chroot (run apt-get update,dist-upgrade, create build directory and other bits.) because it might not be installed, or the chroot name may clash. So we use chroot(8) instead via the Sbuild::ChrootPlain module. This only uses sudo when not root (required for running chroot(8)), but since debootstrap requires root and hence we are already root this should never occur. I'll double check the logic in Sbuild::ChrootPlain; I had sudo installed during testing, so it's possible I missed something. Bug#608491: syslog-ng: log file permissions dangerous on kfreebsd-i386
Package: syslog-ng Version: 3.1.3-1 Severity: grave Tags: security Hello, On kfreebsd-i386, installing the syslog-ng package with its default configuration files, sets the permissions of system log files including /var/log/messages, daemon.log, auth.log and perhaps others to -rwsrwsrwt. This happens whether the files previously existed or not. This makes these log files world-readable, despite the perm(0640) setting in syslog-ng.conf. Non-privileged users can also truncate or append to these files, but doing so seems to remove the setuid/setgid bits. There may be a potential for root privilege escalation if a user can cause syslog-ng to write executable commands to one of these log files. The files are not normally executable (text file busy) whilst syslog-ng has them open for writing, but upon the next run of logrotate, the file permissions including setuid/setgid bits are preserved. -- typescript r...@kfreebsd-i386:/var/log# ls -al total 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 Dec 31 12:00 . drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 512 Dec 26 21:08 .. r...@kfreebsd-i386:/var/log# apt-get --yes install syslog-ng Reading package lists... Bug#607557: backtrace with gnome-panel debug symbols
That's what I thought. At least I tried. Since there's another way to create a Gnome applet in C++, it's not a very serious issue anyway. The library was helping though (since the other way lacks documentation). Oh, and, there's no point in being unpleasant. :) Thank you anyway and happy new year. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Hello, Thanks for your attention to wiliki package. I'm sorry that I was unaware of this unblock request by Yamane-san and submitted another as #608462... I admit this package has been of very low activity and left untouched for quite a long time due to my laziness, but I believe a certain number of sites in Japan are loyally using it for a handy locally shared CMS, I hope wiliki remains a part of squeeze however old it might be. Recent versions of wiliki would surely be packaged for the next release. Hi, * maximilian attems m...@stro.at [2010-12-30 21:11:18+]: This is trivially resolved by amending the routines that search for the root block device and fstype in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions to the following instead: # findout root block device + fstype eval $(mount | awk '!/^rootfs / / on \/ type / {print root= $1 \nFSTYPE= $5; exit}') # On failure fallback to /proc/mounts if readable if [ -z $root ] [ -r /proc/mounts ]; then eval $(awk '!/^rootfs / / \/ / {print root= $1 \nFSTYPE= $3; exit}' /proc/mounts) fi first please if you do changes send them as diff, it is pretty trivial these days and helps a lot for the review of a change: git clone git://git.debian.org/kernel/initramfs-tools.git and see short guide on how to add features or fixes http://git.debian.org/?p=kernel/initramfs-tools.git;a=blob_plain;f=docs/maintainer-notes.html;hb=HEAD Apologies, . This filters out the useless '^rootfs' entry (enabling embedded folk to continue symlinking) and permits anything (not just '^/dev/...') as the root device. Now the ubifs root filesystem detection functions. so based on your proposal a diff would look like this: diff --git a/hook-functions b/hook-functions index cc8b344..6dfd54d 100644 --- a/hook-functions +++ b/hook-functions @@ -229,7 +229,7 @@ dep_add_modules() # On failure fallback to /proc/mounts if readable if [ -z $root ] [ -r /proc/mounts ]; then - eval $(awk '/\/dev\// {if ($2 == /) {print root= $1 \nFSTYPE= $5; exit}}' /proc/mounts) + eval $(awk '!/^rootfs / {if ($2 == /) {print root= $1 \nFSTYPE= $3; exit}}' /proc/mounts) fi # recheck root device Don't trust it enough for the 'mount |' try too? ;) Works for me, many thanks. Hi, It's suitable for release or not, I'll follow your decision, Adam. I just tried to squash RC bug to help releasing Squeeze. On Thu, 30 Dec 2010 13:25:55 - Adam D. Barratt a...@adam-barratt.org.uk wrote: Despite apparent active upstream development (the last release was a little over two weeks ago) the Debian package has, prior to your NMU, seen one upload since the release of Sarge, and none at all since well before the Etch release. It also has a very low popcon count and bugs - admittedly not many, but even so - with trivial patches open for several years with no maintainer comment. Well, however, I guess this RC and NMU would revitalize maintainer's activity. He says that he will put new upstream release into repository, then surely look bugs. Yaegashi-san, could you check bugs filed in BTS? They need _your_ help. (and it means that you should give more love to your package :) If you would be busy, please ask help for that. Bug#587363: Did you consider SASS as alternative?
Hi Bernd, Did you consider SASS as alternative for LESS? It is considered by some (inlcuding me) as superior to LESS. Here is an argument specifically comparing the two: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3133204/ddg#3133369 Sass is packaged already for Debian as libhaml-ruby1.8, as is the (limited, so far) Perl implementation Text::Sass as libtext-sass-perl. Beware that Joey is keen on keeping the code Perl-only for speed reasons (e.g. he didn't like my request to support the Pandoc Markdown parser). In fact, I packaged Text::Sass specifically with the intend of looking into convincing Joey Hess to use integrate it into Ikiwiki, so I would looove to beta test a plugin you might put together. Perhaps the plugin could use Text::Sass by default, but optionally be configured to use the Ruby implementation instead when the user favor the full features over speed. - Jonas -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ [x] quote me freely [ ] ask before reusing [ ] keep private signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#608444: After starting evince, I can no longer logout, or do a shutdown from Gnome. Damage once done, persists, even after envince is terminated
Following a few more tests While using evince, I had Open Office open as I was doing some cut-and-paste from the PDF to the ODT file. With Gnome, the shutdown button (for shutdown) and the logout function on the logout button stop functioning, but the switch user works. After a switch user, the poweroff button on the login screen functions. Just starting evince and loading the PDF does not cause the problem. It appears to occur after some period of pdf scrolling. Perhaps there is another test that is bizarre. If after startup of Debian, I log to the account, then logout and log in again, the second logon is faster, and the evince problem did not occur (1 time only). Bug#608227: console-setup: XKBLAYOUT always get a _ suffix

I commited a somewhat more complex solution which removes the underscore sign only if it was a part of a %_... combination. Apart from this I get lots of messages about unsupported keycodes ( 600 lines printed to the tty), all starting with XF86. The fix for these is to simply define them as VoidSymbol in %xkb_table. I commited the required changes as well. By the way, what was the purpose of using ckbcomp on this Nokia device? Bug#586520: [DRE-maint] Bug#586520: redmine crashes after upgrade to 0.9.4-3
Ok, After a bit of digging into REE and Redmine package issue I am following up on this. The lines that have been added there: loads cookie based session session and secret keys # this is needed here because initializers are loaded after plugins, # and some plugins initialize ActionController which requires a secret to be set. # crash if file not found filename = ENV['RAILS_ETC'] ? File.join(ENV['RAILS_ETC'], 'session.yml') : File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__), '..', 'session.yml') sessionconfig = YAML::load_file(filename) require 'action_controller' relativeUrlRoot = ENV['RAILS_RELATIVE_URL_ROOT'] ActionController::Base.session = { :key = sessionconfig[Rails.env]['key'], :secret = sessionconfig[Rails.env]['secret'], :path = (relativeUrlRoot.blank?) ? '/' : relativeUrlRoot } should be in the initializers/50-debian.rb after the .run! method is invoked. And this is more elegant way of modifying things for Debian I think :) Radek -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#440495: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Keyboard doesn't work after turning touchpad off and on
Den 31. des. 2010 10:48, skrev Julien Viard de Galbert: Hello, About two or three years ago, you participated on the bug #440495 (or #437255 that was merged with it). The drivers have evolved quite a bit, are you still experiencing the issue, if not can you tell me the version of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics you are using, so that I can close the bug. I'm running testing, not unstable, but it seems slightly better. When turning the touchpad on, the kernel still often gives stuff like Dec 31 15:56:38 merlin kernel: [1664912.888433] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 4 bytes away. Dec 31 15:56:39 merlin kernel: [1664914.046085] psmouse.c: resync failed, issuing reconnect request (when this particular message appeared, my music playback froze for about a second, repeating its current buffer a few times.) Also, xev tells me that turning the touchpad off gives me a Press/Release with keycode 201, and turning it on gives me a Press/Release with keycode 146, which maps to Help, and thus would bring up the desktop's Help window and annoy me, if I hadn't already turned that hotkey off in my settings. What's better is that now at least there *is* a KeyRelease event of that fake Help key, and thus the keyboard focus is no longer permanently stolen. It still would bring up the Help system, and it still takes the system a few seconds to regain touchpad control after turning it on, which may or may not momentarily freeze the system, but now it always does seem to recover, at least... This happens whether the files previously existed or not. While I don't know syslog-ng internals, I made some debug. It seems syslog-ng uses chmod and derivatives only on three locations. During install, only one of it is fired. It's src/afunix.c in afunix_sd_init(): it chmods /var/run/log to 0666. Even ktrace didn't help me. The only chmod that can be suspicious in its output: chmod(0x679aa0,invalid438) But it may refer to the error message printed on the screen: mknod `/dev/console': Operation not supported Laszlo/GCS -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#608507: ITP: daemonlogger -- Simple packet logging and software tap daemon
Package: wnpp Version: N/A Priority: wishlist Package name : daemonlogger Version : 1.2.1 Upstream Author : Martin Roesch - roe...@sourcefire.com URL : http://www.snort.org/snort-downloads/additional-downloads#daemonlogger License : GPL v2 Description : Simple packet logging and software tap daemon This is a libpcap-based daemon that can be used in two different ways: * It can sniff packets from a network interface and spool them straight to disk. It will automatically roll over the capture file when it reaches a specific size. * It can sniff packets from an interface and rewrite them to a second interface, acting as a software tap. I have lintian-clean packages ready for this program and will submit as soon as possible. Alexandre Ratchov wrote: This is because clock_gettime() moved from libc to librt. It's fixed in the new upstream release, but unfortunately I've no kfreebsd system to test it. An update for the debian package is available here: Well, I not sure if a new upstream release is suitable as we are in deep freeze. But after adding -lrt, the package builds again on my box indeed, and presumably it will build fine in kfreebsd too. yeah, your diff fixes it. I admit not understanding implcations of the freeze in depth, so I'm not pushing the update. FWIW, the diff between 1.0.4 and 1.0.6 releases is only few lines to fix this bug and another one. I've just reproduced it on mutt 1.5.20-9, I'm suspecting it is architecture related at this point (I'm on amd64). Bug#561503: rsyslog: Missing documentation about hyphens in configuration file.
tag 561503 + patch thanks Le jeudi 17 décembre 2009, Philipp Weis a écrit : I assume that the hyphens in rsyslog.conf in front of some filenames indicate that these files aren't synced after every message, but there's no information about this in the manpage. Well, I found the same problem, so I fixed it. Here is a patch that adds documentation about the -file syntax to rsyslogd.conf(5) manpage. I attach this patch in two formats: * the git-format-patch, ready to be git-am'ed: this one adds a patch in debian/patches; * the raw patch itself against tools/rsyslog.conf.5.
