Bug#724731: [gdm3] gdm does not start properly, cannot login via gdm

2013-11-08 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.8.4-3
Followup-For: Bug #724731

I managed to solve by removing and reinstalling the following packages,
as suggested in commment 71:
gnome-core gnome-shell gdm3 gnome-session

When I reinstalled, I see more packages than those removed. Maybe it's
a hint to find the culprit of this bug?
See the tail of my /var/log/apt/history.log:

thanks for this, I applied it and I will upload to Unstable soon (and to

Bug#724731: More....

2013-11-08 Thread Yusuf Iskenderoglu
Hello,

The blank screen after login problem looks like as if gdm does not leave
output so that the graphical desktop is not shown.
Because in the processlist, all gnome apps start running.
I also managed to wait a very long time, and was able to see screen garbage
and rendering problems, if I moved the mouse over the positions of some
desktop icons where I expect them to be, since they are behind the blank
screen and normally invisible.

Can it be, that gdm somehow cannot communicate correctly with the x-server?

The problem does not exist on my intel-graphics notebook but only on my
nvidia workstation.
All packages are on both systems at the same version.

Do you need the output of some tools that may help you solve the issue?

Regards,
Yusuf

Bug#729035: openjdk-6-jre-headless: Not possible to install in a foreign chroot

2013-11-08 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: openjdk-6-jre-headless
Version: 6b27-1.12.5-1

Hi. I am trying to create a SD card image for Debian Edu on Raspberry
Pi, but am unable to create it because openjdk-6-jre-headless fail to
install in a foreign chroot, ie a armel chroot on a amd64 machine.
The problem can be reproduced using this script:

  #!/bin/sh
  set -ex
  sudo apt-get install -y qemu-user-static
sudo debootstrap --arch=armel --foreign wheezy chroot-pi
http://http.debian.net/debian
  sudo cp /usr/bin/qemu-arm-static chroot-pi/usr/bin/qemu-arm-static
  sudo chroot chroot-pi /debootstrap/debootstrap --second-stage
echo deb http://http.debian.net/debian wheezy main | sudo dd
of=chroot-pi/etc/apt/sources.list
  sudo chroot chroot-pi apt-get update
sudo mount -t proc proc chroot-pi/proc
  printf '#!/bin/sh\nexit 101\n' | sudo dd of=chroot-pi/usr/sbin/policy-rc.d
  sudo chmod a+rx chroot-pi/usr/sbin/policy-rc.d
  sudo chroot chroot-pi apt-get install -y openjdk-6-jre-headless
  sudo umount chroot-pi/proc
  sudo rm -rf chroot-pi

This is how it fail when I build it without /proc mounted in the chroot.

  Setting up openjdk-6-jre-headless:armel (6b27-1.12.5-1) ...
the java command requires a mounted proc fs (/proc).
  dpkg: error processing openjdk-6-jre-headless:armel (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of ca-certificates-java:
   ca-certificates-java depends on openjdk-6-jre-headless (= 6b16-1.6.1-2) |

Package openjdk-6-jre-headless:armel is not configured yet.
Package java6-runtime-headless is not installed.
Package openjdk-6-jre-headless:armel which provides java6-runtime-headless
is not configured yet.

And this is how it fail if I do mount /proc (for amd64, ie not with
content refering to the final armel architecture) in the chroot:

Bug#728861: Upstream version seems to have general problems

2013-11-08 Thread Michael Hanke
Looking at

https://code.google.com/p/ardesia/issues/detail?id=60

or

https://code.google.com/p/ardesia/issues/detail?id=57

or even

https://code.google.com/p/ardesia/issues/detail?id=44

I can replicate all of them on jessie (amd64) with the standard GNOME3
setup (intel HD4000).

I'd say ardesia in its current upstream shape is not fit for a release.
I tried both the upstream .debs for 1.1 and 1.0, as well as the official
Debian package -- same behavior.

Bug#729038: /usr/bin/column: column gets line-length wrong for tabs

2013-11-08 Thread Ph. Marek
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 9.0.5
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/column

For output that contains tab characters, column gets the output wrong.

Example:
# seq 1 100 | xargs -l /usr/bin/printf .\t%d\n | column

I guess it should space-pad, or perhaps simply translate each tab to a space.

Bug#729037: [checks/files] non-conf-file-in-modprobe.d description outdated

2013-11-08 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.19
Severity: minor

non-conf-file-in-modprobe.d description reads:
Files in /etc/modprobe.d should use filenames ending in .conf. modprobe
currently warns about files which do not match this convention and at some
point in the future the files will no longer be processed.

As far as I can see, modprobe in unstable already silently ignores all
non-.conf files in /etc/modprobe.d/.

Bug#729003: nginx-extras: Upload module no longer available

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to the backport version of nginx-extras the directive
upload_store is no longer recognized causing nginx to fail to start.

However this module is still included in the description for this package
version.

By downgrading and issuing the command nginx -V I can confirm the presence of
upload-module which is absent in the backported version.

The nginx upload module no longer works with recent nginx versions
and has been removed since 1.4.0.

You are right that it is still included in nginx-extras package
description. That will be fixed in the next release.

Thank you for the bug report.

Bug#712656: partially fixed on 1.1.0-21

2013-11-08 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan

Hi!

This has been addressed on 1.1.0-21 which unluckily didn't make it to

for example, and is installable on squeeze.

However when I was tracking this issue I also came to a problem with the
sysfs path that is being used on the if-up.d script, here is a patch for it.

2013-11-08 Thread Trent W. Buck
Package: live-boot
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Below, I'm deliberately starting a Debian Wheezy live-boot system
without ANY access to its root filesystem. (As a test for this
happening as a result of a transient network outage.)

Because panic=N is passed, it's *supposed* to reboot without letting
the user get a ramdisk shell. When boot=live is used, the user can
gets two shells (one after the other), before the advertised behaviour
finally kicks in.

I seriously think there is no need to panic here. The file with the
problematic license is not used in the build process. Simply removing
the file from the tarball was sufficient to fix the problem. I think
there is no harm done if the old source tarballs will remain inside the
archive.

Kind regards

hmm - I think I am missing part of the steps for reproducing this. Are

I tested it in both Vim and Bash, select to copy, Shift-Insert to paste.

I'm assuming it's a bug in this change:

Bug#729042: gajim: Self-signed SSL certificates are lost on exit

2013-11-08 Thread Roland Mas
Package: gajim
Version: 0.15.4-1
Severity: normal

I run my own ejabberd server, with a self-signed certificate. After
creating an account there (outside Gajim), I can connect Gajim to that
account, and I get a dialog warning me about the unknown certificate
(SSL Error: Unable to get local issuer certificate). This is
expected.

If I click OK, I can connect and chat normally. Going offline and back
online, I get the dialog again, and I can click OK again and connect
again. If I exit Gajim and restart it, I get the dialog again, and
clicking OK allows me to connect again. So far, so good.

Now if at any time I tick the Ignore the error for this certificate
checkbox in the dialog before clicking OK, I can connect and chat. But
I can only connect once: as soon as I go offline (or restart Gajim),
trying to connect again doesn't display the dialog (which is expected),
but the connection doesn't proceed. Running in a terminal, I get the
following backtrace:

Bug#728389: bug 728389 : further information

2013-11-08 Thread Joel Girot
During this problem I noticed that all process started before the bug are
executed normally (shell in an ssh session, winscp through an ssh
connection, etc ...) but all launching of new process caused a hang at
launch (command shell, user process, new login). Therefore it has become
impossible to make a diagnosis or shut down the system properly.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bug#727758: cups segfaults in libdbus

2013-11-08 Thread bugreporter
Package: cups
Version: 1.6.3-1
Followup-For: Bug #727758

Hi,
i also got

cupsd[3263]: segfault at 0 ip b75776c2 sp bfad0070 error 4 in
libdbus-1.so.3.7.5[b755+49000]

sometimes. It ist not reproducable. Most of the time nothing happens but if it
does
also rebooting doesn`t solve the problem.
The machine itself has to be shutdown for the night.
All printers are attached via network (HP OfficeJet Pro 8600)
If i restart the service manually everything is working fine, but it is a
remote box,
an the users there don´t like console typing.
I hope for a quick solution.

OT:Is this report ok? Missing something? Wrong facts?
I´ve read the manual, but i am not sure.

Bug#729045: New improved version - gcompris 13.11 released at November 2, please update and add gcompris-sound-lt Debian package

2013-11-08 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Package: gcompris
Version: 12.11-1

New upstream version - gcompris 13.11 released at November 4, see

http://gcompris.net

This release includes Lithuanian voices (see /boards/voices/lt/), please add
gcompris-sound-lt deb package.

Major features in 13.11 release:
* A new activity in the reading section that presents a set of image, text and
voice to children and an exercise set around them.
This includes about 1000 images and voices in English, Spanish, French, and
Gaelic-Scottish.
* A rework of many text related activities to support multigraph languages.
This is driven by a team of Gaelic-Scottish users.
* Added the font face use in GCompris in the skin configuration file. It is
possible to select another font by manually changing it with one installed on
your system.
For example, In boards/skin/babytoy/skin.xml find the line font
id=gcompris/fontface name=sans and replace sans by ruluko.

Bug fixes:
* there is now a simplified version of the submarine activity, now there is an
easy first level. Added tooltips to explain items.
* Fixed a crash case after leaving intro and land_safe activity.
* New country map of Scotland by Fòram na Gàidhlig.
* Fixed colors values in the advanced color activity. This page reports the old
and new value.
* Added support for remembering last passed level by Roopesh Shenoy. With this
option when the children enters an activity the last succeeded level is
proposed.
* Added Central America and Oceania geography map by GunChleoc
* Independent wordlist for reading activities by GunChleoc
* Now the intro voice is played when help is clicked.
* Fixed a bug which makes the administration menu missing

Bug#728015: [nginx] Don't use type=forking in systemd service file

2013-11-08 Thread Christos Trochalakis

On Sun, Oct 27, 2013 at 05:32:48PM +0100, Adrien CLERC wrote:

Package: nginx
Version: 1.4.3-2
Severity: minor

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi,

In the systemd service file, the two following directive are used:
Type=forking
PIDFile=/run/nginx.pid

However, when running systemd, it's easier to let systemd handle the
PID stuff, and tell the program not to fork itself.
Moreover, we can have a situation when the user changes the PID file
location in the configuration file located at /etc/nginx/nginx.conf

Thus, I recommend removing them, and disabling nginx forking with the
directive daemon off. See attached unit file.

It is of course opened to discussion. I tried to find any side-effect
of daemon off, but the documentation doesn't mention any.

This would also break the nginx upgrade mechanism which is used for
package updates (postinst script) in order to upgrade the nginx binary
without dropping connections.

Using the current approach systemd understands that the pid has changed
correctly, probably by monitoring the pid file and the upgrade behaves
as expected. Actually there is a patch that will be included in the next
release that fixes this behaviour. [1]

Bug#729049: clang-3.3: Failed to build 32-bit program with undefined behavior sanitizer on 64-bit host

2013-11-08 Thread Turo Lamminen
Package: clang-3.3
Version: 1:3.3-12
Severity: normal

I'm trying to build a 32-bit program with undefined behavior sanitizer
on a 64-bit host. Linker fails with this error:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find
/usr/bin/../lib/clang/3.3/lib/linux/libclang_rt.san-i386.a: No such file or
directory

The 64-bit libraries are in package libclang-common-3.3-dev but it's not
possible to install the 32-bit package simultaneously, aptitude says:
 libclang-common-3.3-dev : Conflicts: libclang-common-3.3-dev:i386 but 1:3.3-12
is to be installed.
 libclang-common-3.3-dev:i386 : Conflicts: libclang-common-3.3-dev but 1:3.3-12
is installed.

Building 32-bit programs without the sanitizer works fine.

I just wanted to post an ITP for gate(-)one and I just in time

Are you still active on packaging this? Or are you waiting for 1.2 to
appear? (I just got personal communication from Daniel, that 1.2 will
be released soon).

Please let me know about your plans, otherwise I will be happy to
become owner of this ITP.

Bug#729053: Document the required usage of --auto cmdline option in man page (and/or enable it by default)

2013-11-08 Thread Mike Gabriel

Package: xserver-xspice
Version: 0.1.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,

the current version of xserver-xspice starts a normal Xorg process if
the option --auto is not used on the command line.

Xspice switches to spice-server mode if --auto is used. This should be
at least documented in the man page of Xspice. Rather more useful
would be to enable --auto by default and only use a custom
configuration file it is specifically mention on the command line
(with --config spice-xorg-config).

Greets,
Mike

You don't specify DIR and configure.ac is not prepared for that.

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

If I install mikmod with sudo apt-get install mikmod and then try to
play a mod file with mikmod foobar.mod, I get no sound output. The
driver being used is No Sound. Trying to autodetect a driver does
nothing useful. Explicitly selecting a driver like ESD or OSS yields
Sound device not detected. Yes, I made sure these drivers are
actually installed

since 2.6.0, the xenomai developers included pkg-config files for library

I think that the modification is trivial, just adding a line in the file
libxenomai-dev.install with:

Bug#729059: hyphens / minus signs in xref tags

2013-11-08 Thread Mike Gabriel
Package: xmlto
Severity: minor

Hi,

today I have encountered a weird (and minor) bug when preparing a new freerdp
upload.

The freerdp package uses xmlto to generate its man page out of an XML template
[1].

This very man page ends up with one hyphen still being a minus sign (reported
by lintian).
This means that there is an unescaped - in the man page source code.

Normally xmlto handles minus-signs / hyphens pretty well. The issue only occurs
at _one_
position.

I figured out that this expression

  varlistentry id=AlternateShell
term-s replaceable class=parametershell/replaceable/term
listitem
  para
SomeText
  /para
/listitem
  /varlistentry

  [...]
  SomeText (xref linkend=AlternateShell/) MoreText
  [...]

ends up with a minus sign as hyphen in the man page (the xref uses the content
of the term tag and that
-s is placed as -s on the man page.

However, when I use a slightly changed XML code for the xref link...

  [...]
  SomeText ( xref linkend=AlternateShell/) MoreText
  [...]
^^^ NOTE THE INSERTED SPACE HERE

then the generated man page looks ok, the -s gets placed as \-s on the man
page and the
no minus-sign-as-hyphen issue is not reported by lintian anymore.

Maybe someone has a clue, how this can be amended.

Greets,
Mike

These are private libraries. They should not be used by external applications,
as they have no stable ABI/API and can be removed at any time. Upstream doesn't
create .so files for them for exactly that reason.

If there are symbols you would like to use, please engage with upstream to make

Hi, I'm trying to use jpeg-tbo on spice packages.
Changing actual path/name of header files with the debian
libjpeg-turbo instead I found that some headers files present on
jpeg-turbo upstream source are missed on debian -dev package, there
is only turbojpeg.h now.
For example on spice is needed jpeglib.h, present on upstream source
but not on -dev package even renamed.

Thanks for any reply.

The requested file (jpeglib.h) is part of the IJG Jpeg compat ABI/API
available in Turbo-JPEG. At the time being, these files are not
package in Debian (see [1]).

Build Spice against the default libjpeg-dev package and then get a
TurboJPEG version from somewhere [2] that ships .deb packages for the
TurboJPEG libjpeg compat mode.

Bug#690090: following up to 701954

2013-11-08 Thread dave

I believe this bug is the same that manifests in #701954. Some personal
stuff got in the way and I was unable to post my results of Till
Kamppeter's suggested tests. That bug has been archived and I can no
longer post to it. In that bug report, I posted a workaround that
corrects the misbehavior for all programs that want to print.

Till Kamppeter, could we pick up where we left off in #701954? The
results of the tests were as follows:

1a. Incorrect. Print offset 10mm up and 10mm right.
1b. Incorrect. Print offset 10mm up and 10mm right.
1c. Almost correct. Print is offset about 1mm to the right, sometimes more.
2. This caused the printer to eject all the paper in the input tray and
 ask for more.

Bug#729020: segfaults upon presumably legit invocation

2013-11-08 Thread Daniele E. Domenichelli
owner 729020 !
thanks

Thanks for reporting the bug.

It looks like that your image is a 4D image (at the moment unsupported
by nifti2dicom). Anyway it should not crash...

I Fixed it upstream, see:

https://github.com/biolab-unige/nifti2dicom/issues/29
https://github.com/biolab-unige/nifti2dicom/commit/7e3ac0f23103a9521992777260fc56f11814356c

I will make a new upstream release soon... Should I import the patch in
Debian package for current version too?

Cheers,
 Daniele

Bug#729063: dovecot: CVE-2013-6171

2013-11-08 Thread Moritz Muehlenhoff
Package: dovecot
Severity: important
Tags: security

Quoting from the 2.2.7 announcement:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-news/2013-November/000264.html

| Some usage of passdb checkpassword could have been exploitable by
| local users. You may need to modify your setup to keep it working.
| See http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/CheckPassword#Security

Quoting from http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/CheckPassword#Security:

| The standard checkpassword design is incompatible with Dovecot's security
model. If
| the system has local users and the checkpassword script setuid()s into a
local user,
| the user is able to ptrace into the communication and change the
authentication results.
| This is of course undesirable, so v2.2.7+ will just refuse to run in such
environments
| by default. The possibilities to solve this are:
|If possible, change the checkpassword to return userdb_uid and userdb_gid
extra fields
| instead of using setuid() and setgid(). This also improves the performance.
|If you can't change the script, you can make Dovecot's checkpassword-reply
binary
| setuid or setgid (e.g. chgrp dovecot
/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/checkpassword-reply;
| chmod g+s /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/checkpassword-reply)
|
| If you don't have any untrusted local users and you just don't care about
this check, you
| can set INSECURE_SETUID=1 environment e.g. with a wrapper checkpassword
script.

I'm not sure if that needs to be backported to stable given? How popular is the
Checkpassword
auth framework?

Cheers,
Moritz

Bug#722970: fail2ban: adapt to OpenSSH 6.3

2013-11-08 Thread Colin Watson
On Sat, Sep 14, 2013 at 07:48:49PM -0400, Yaroslav Halchenko wrote:
cool -- thanks Colin for the heads up.
I guess that is the code:
 authlog(%s %s%s%s for %s%.100s from %.200s port %d %s%s%s,

 submethod != NULL ? / : , submethod == NULL ?  : submethod,

 authctxt-user,
 get_remote_ipaddr(),
 get_remote_port(),
 compat20 ? ssh2 : ssh1,
 authctxt-info != NULL ? :  : ,
 authctxt-info != NULL ? authctxt-info : );

would you happen to have a sample log line(s)? removal anchoring at the end
might not be ideal here due to a '.*' in the middle thus a bit more analysis
 is
needed on how exactly trailing line could look like and what info could be
logged there so we do not end up opening it up for injection attacks.

Sorry for my delay. Here are a couple of samples:

(ssh to invalid user; this matches the previous pattern)
Nov 8 13:33:15 unstable sshd[2825]: Failed password for invalid user fake from
10.0.3.1 port 59419 ssh2

(successful authentication; wouldn't match here but shows the kind of
extra information provided)
Nov 8 13:38:43 unstable sshd[2861]: Accepted publickey for cjwatson from
10.0.3.1 port 59437 ssh2: RSA 20:a0:6f:22:67:30:0f:a7:a9:f4:93:e6:7d:bd:ae:59

As far as I can tell from a search through the code the extra
information provided after the colon-space could currently be:

ruser client user (any string, supplied by client)
(SSH1, rhosts/RSA)
key type ID key ID (serial number) CA key type fingerprint
(SSH2, pubkey, CA key, no hostbased auth)
key type ID key ID (serial number) CA key type fingerprint, client
user user, client host host
(SSH2, pubkey, CA key, hostbased auth)
  key type fingerprint
(SSH2, pubkey, not a CA key, no hostbased auth)
key type fingerprint, client user user, client host host
(SSH2, pubkey, not a CA key, hostbased auth)

I don't think it's really a good idea to special-case all of these,
because these are quite likely to be adjusted or extended in future.

I take your point about avoiding injection attacks, though, given that
some of these can be supplied by the client; I assume your concern is
that somebody could inject a different host name in their failure and
thus evade bans. How about just using .*? in the middle rather than
.*, then? The true host name will always come first. That would
result in:

  ^%(__prefix_line)sFailed \S+ for .*? from HOST(?: port \d*)?(?: ssh\d*)?

Thanks,

Bug#727716: testing fdroidserver

2013-11-08 Thread chrysn
hello hans-christoph,

i've tested the fdroidserver from your git repository, albeit in a
slightly unconventional way: i'd prefer to have a completely free build
environment, so i'm using the replicant sdk from [1] instead of the
usual android sdk.

this showed a problem with discovering the aapt path:

(reporting this to the itp instead of to a dedicated bug as the package
is still in NEW).

 $ fdroid init
 Reading config.py...
Enter the path to the Android SDK (/opt/android-sdk):
 /tmp/replicant/replicant-sdk_linux-x86
 Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/bin/fdroid, line 63, in module
 main()
File /usr/bin/fdroid, line 59, in main
 mod.main()
   File /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/fdroidserver/init.py, line 153, in
 main
 if os.path.isfile(aapt):
UnboundLocalError: local variable 'aapt' referenced before assignment

that is due to aapt not being shipped in `build-tools/$VERSION` but in
`platform-tools` in the replicant sdk. (given your comment in 459219,
that part would need an extension to detect a natively installed aapt
too, and ideally not even mention it in the config).

with that set up, i was able to build an fdroid application
(net.sylvek.sharemyposition) with minimal modifications (setting
target=android-15 from target=android-11), and to install it on an
android device.

given that, there is reason to assume that the infrastructure of a full
featured f-droid server can be properly shipped in main. (full-featured
as far as replicant is a full-featured android sdk). but that's probably
something i'd rather report to #459219...

thanks for packaging fdroidserver

Bug#729067: [phonon] App volume controls have no function

2013-11-08 Thread Schrober
Package: phonon
Version: 4:4.7.0.0-2
Severity: normal

The volume control in amarok seems to have no use at all. I've tested the VLC
and Gstreamer backend and it is not changing my volume at all. I would have
expect that the pulseaudio volume is changed for amarok but nothing happens at
all. Also switching the song doesn't seem to do anything (this was recommended
in some forums).

This also happens with the KDE dragonplayer. BUT the volume controls in VLC
(the video player) work as expected and the pulseaudio app volume controls are
moving when I modify the volume in the video player.

Any hints how this can be debugged further?

Bug#727708: Arguments for tech-ctte (Was: Proposal: let’s have a GR about the init system)

2013-11-08 Thread Marko Randjelovic
Additional arguments in favor of sysvinit:

* systemd and upstart lead to vendor lock-in; it will be complicated
later to return back or change to third option, as well to change from
first to second option

* I don't have a feeling that configuration can be very simpler than
shell scripts; there are things such as 'events' and such things have
to be properly defined)

* If OpenRC's development continues in good direction, Debian could
switch to OpenRC

* If our shell scripts are a mess, then we should clean up the mess,
not trying to escape it by changing whole init system; more precisely,
we should correct mistakes we made in past, such as not enough
abstraction

* existing software (sysvinit+initscripts) can be enhanced:

(1) add new features to sysvinit; e.g. start-stop-daemon could be
extended, to return only when service is ready, or if timeout exceeds
to return with error status (2) add new software in addition to sysvinit
(3) make init scripts more correct (abstraction)
(4) extend configurability (more options in /etc/default/*)

(3) makes (4) easily possible

If sysvinit is in accord with UNIX philosophy, and as they say it is,
than I don't see why (1) and (2) would not be possible, too, and with
not to much effort.

* What is alleged to be disadvantages of sysvinit (lack of features),
is not really to blame sysvinit, because it does one thing and do it
right. Other features could be implemented as additional software. On
the other hand, what actually was done was writing new software that
make old software obsolete and that do *many* things, which is not in
accord with UNIX philosophy.

* More complex software has more bugs, old software is cleaned out of
original bugs, and new software is not.

* Software that is not well commented is hard to understand and find
bugs

Hello,

the bug you reported is a KDE bug. Please report it via
Help - Report bug... menu item of the respective application
or by visiting https://bugs.kde.org/ and following instructions
to report a new bug.

Debian Qt/KDE maintainers do not have resources to deal with
non Debian-specific bugs and therefore it is unlikely that
your bug will be solved if you do not report it to KDE developers
directly (unless it is/has been reported by somebody else).

Whenever you open a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system, or
you find that the bug has been already reported on it, you can couple
both this Debian bug and the KDE bug together by sending the mail with
the text below to cont...@bugs.debian.org (replace KDE-BUG-URL with

Bug#729068: krfb changes the keyboard layout

2013-11-08 Thread Christian Pinedo Zamalloa
Package: krfb
Version: 4:4.10.5-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

My KDE system is configured for Spanin (language, numbers, keyboard
layout, ...). However, when I remotely connect to KDE using krfb, I get
a US keyboard layout.

My current configuration of krfb is Allow remote connections to control
your desktop and Allow uninvited connections. This problem is related
to univited connections, I haven't checked invited connections. I have
used several vnc clients (krdc and vnc4viewer) and I got the same
behaviour.

Bug#459219: testing fdroidserver

2013-11-08 Thread chrysn
hello android packagers,

due to the recent packaging of fdroidserver (#727716, waiting in NEW), i
tried to get an impression on what can currently be done in debian with
android. as i object to using non-free build systems to build free software, i
used nothing but the pre-built replicant sdk [1] (single zip file)
fdroidserver with its dependencies (and suggests and recommends).

some tuning in android targets is necessary when using the
fully-automated fdroid apk build system, but apart from that, things
seem to work. so my point / impression is:

* there is an sdk that can build at least some android applications and
  is free software.
* one of the things that makes android packaging difficult is the whole
installer / download dance that has to be done due to nonfree licenses
  involved.

therefore, to the list of software this collective rfp describes, i'd
add the replicant sdk, for it can be built and installed like we are
used to.[2]

when the android sdk is then completely packaged as an installer (or
gets released under a free license again), they can coexist by providing
a common android-sdk package name / using alternatives.

best regards
chrysn

install`, but at least it's documented at [3]

Bug#727656: libpaper: Friendly fork updated and improved

2013-11-08 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: libpaper
Followup-For: Bug #727656

I've tagged my fork at version 1.2, adding various extra features and
fixes. Here's the changelog so far:

libpaper (1.2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Major overhaul.
  * Generate paper size list in papersize(5). Closes: #486338
  * Update build system for recent autotools. Closes: #496126, #700358
  * Add JIS B series paper sizes (patch from TeXLive). Closes: #403365
  * Try LC_PAPER before falling back to default PAPERSIZE. Closes #481213,
#376350
  * Debconf translations:
- Polish. Closes: #658159
- Turkish. Closes: #688293
  * Document requirements of libpaper.d scripts. Closes: #594931
  * Fix cross-compilation.  Closes #693968
  * Load paper sizes at run-time, allowing the user to change the configuration.
  * Remove some unused APIs (not used by any Debian dependency).

There are some outstanding packaging bugs I would appreciate help
with:

  #682240, #695281 about multiarch purge
  #486341: renaming paperconfig's --force option
#574750: this bug looks like it should be reassigned to ucf

Can we get this sorted out? I think it's a big improvement to
libpaper, and it also paves the way for it to be used more outside
Debian.

Bug#620186: Init.d-script leaves mpt-statusd process defunct

2013-11-08 Thread Alexandros Kosiaris
I confirm this bug which is open since 2011.

If anyone touches this, maybe we should also say
RUN_DAEMON=no by default (especially if the bug is not fixed)?
I have a feeling few users just install
this and wait for the daemon to inform them that the RAID array has problem.
A monitoring/alerting infrastructure quite possibly exists already if
you have MPT controllers
and duplicating it is probably unwanted behaviour anyway.

Bug#729071: transition: libmatroska

2013-11-08 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Dear Release Team,

I'm filing this bug for the (little) transition of libmatroska package.

A testing-purpose package (1.4.0-1) was uploaded to experimental suite
on June 30th; an updating upload (1.4.1-1) is available on experimental
since September 23rd.

The reverse dependencies in unstable for this transition are:

 * mkvtoolnix
 * vlc

and none of them seems to FTBFS against this new library version, as
can be seen at [1],[2].

Thanks for your time and patience.

2013-11-08 Thread Gaudenz Steinlin
Package: spamass-milter
Version: 0.3.2-1
Severity: serious

If spamass-milter is run together with postfix the init script creates
/var/spool/postfix/spamass, but this directory is not removed on purge
(or when the daemon is stopped). According to policy a package must
clean up everything it created on purge.

I agree that this is only a minor policy violation without much real
world negative impact. Feel free to downgrade if you don't think this is
release critical.

Bug#729069: rsync: Please provide an rsync udeb

2013-11-08 Thread Ian Campbell
Package: rsync
Version: 3.0.9-4
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Being able to anna-install rsync (or rsync-udeb) would occasionally be very
useful when using d-i in rescue mode. I had a collegue asking how to get this
working yesterday and thinking back there have been occasions where I would
have liked it too.

In the absence of the udeb things like
http://lackof.org/taggart/hacking/d-i-tricks/ Cloning another system via
rsync/ssh get suggested, which (I suppose, I usually end up finding some
other way to rescue the system) work but are not all that convenient.

It may be that rsync would require lots of libraries which are not present in
the d-i environment, in which case I'd understand if you were to close this
won't fix (actually, I'd quite understand that in the general case too).

Thanks,
Ian.

Bug#729020: segfaults upon presumably legit invocation

2013-11-08 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko

On Fri, 08 Nov 2013, Daniele E. Domenichelli wrote:
It looks like that your image is a 4D image (at the moment unsupported
 by nifti2dicom).

ah -- indeed TFM says 3D NIfTI files -- I should have seen that

I guess I could split it into a series of 3D volumes and then
nifti2dicom each separately to at least get somewhere

 Anyway it should not crash...

indeed...

 I Fixed it upstream, see:

 https://github.com/biolab-unige/nifti2dicom/issues/29
 https://github.com/biolab-unige/nifti2dicom/commit/7e3ac0f23103a9521992777260fc56f11814356c

I will make a new upstream release soon... Should I import the patch in
Debian package for current version too?

I do not think there is a big need for this and we should be fine just
with a fresh upstream release/new package

Bug#722970: fail2ban: adapt to OpenSSH 6.3

2013-11-08 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko

On Fri, 08 Nov 2013, Colin Watson wrote:

On Sat, Sep 14, 2013 at 07:48:49PM -0400, Yaroslav Halchenko wrote:
cool -- thanks Colin for the heads up.
I guess that is the code:
  authlog(%s %s%s%s for %s%.100s from %.200s port %d %s%s%s,
  authmsg,
  method,
  submethod != NULL ? / : , submethod == NULL ?  : submethod,
  authctxt-valid ? : invalid user ,
  authctxt-user,
  get_remote_ipaddr(),
  get_remote_port(),
  compat20 ? ssh2 : ssh1,
  authctxt-info != NULL ? :  : ,
  authctxt-info != NULL ? authctxt-info : );

would you happen to have a sample log line(s)? removal anchoring at the
  end
might not be ideal here due to a '.*' in the middle thus a bit more
  analysis is
needed on how exactly trailing line could look like and what info could be
logged there so we do not end up opening it up for injection attacks.

Sorry for my delay. Here are a couple of samples:

(ssh to invalid user; this matches the previous pattern)
Nov 8 13:33:15 unstable sshd[2825]: Failed password for invalid user fake
 from 10.0.3.1 port 59419 ssh2

(SSH2, pubkey, CA key, no hostbased auth)
key type ID key ID (serial number) CA key type fingerprint,
client user user, client host host
(SSH2, pubkey, CA key, hostbased auth)
   key type fingerprint
(SSH2, pubkey, not a CA key, no hostbased auth)
key type fingerprint, client user user, client host host
(SSH2, pubkey, not a CA key, hostbased auth)

eh -- sorry for not following up either...
we have adjusted sshd filter upstream already to be

 ^%(__prefix_line)sFailed \S+ for .* from HOST(?: port \d*)?(?: ssh\d*)?(:
(ruser .{0,100}|(\S+ ID \S+ \(serial \d+\) CA )?\S+ %(__md5hex)s(, client user
.{0,100}, client host .{0,100})?))?\s*$

which should resolve this issue. Check out

http://github.com/fail2ban/fail2ban

and if you see that it is not working for you.

 Thanks,
