Looking back at Message #47 that I wrote, gosh, four years ago (!), I was suspicious of an incorrect relocation by the dynamic linker, which suggests a problem in the toolchain rather than gnome-settings-daemon. This is beyond my ability to debug further without guidance from someone with knowledge of the dynamic linker and how relocations are resolved. Bug#749211: Memory corruption in hiredis-0.10
Package: libhiredis0.10 Version: 0.10.1-7 Seems that current stable version of hiredis has some memory corruption issue. Please take a look on this gist https://gist.github.com/antmat/eef39309badc7f24cc5d (please note, that redis-server should be available by specified host/port as there is no check for NULL for redisReply). On version from debian package and from 0.10 and from 0.10.1 compiled myself from source this gist produces a segmentation fault due to memory corruption. However this problem disappear if I compile and use 0.11 version. I’ve already opened an issue on hiredis github page here https://github.com/redis/hiredis/issues/244 I personnally find this issue critical but I don’t have any simple fix except upgrading stable version to 0.11 but AFAIK this is prohibited by debian policy. It’s the first time I report a bug to debian, so please forgive me if I’ve made something wrong. If you need some more details I would be glad to provide them. Thanks. Also seeing the same problem after a new install on a HP Elitebook 840 G1. But I can't manage to fix anything with the above workaround, I can't find anything to set as the active-card in xfce4-mixer, it always goes back to the Pc. The Ubuntu bug claims that the bug was fixed in xfce4-volumed 0.2. It looks like they forked xfce-volumed? But at least it works perfectly on my machine now. On every boot/network-manager restart a dialogue asks to enter the PIN to unlock the SIM card. If you press escape it disappears. However, connecting to the mobile network works fine! (so it probably uses the stored pin anyway) If you enter the PIN, you will be asked for superuser rights, afterwards the pop-up shows up again. Also here connecting works fine. So it seems, that the pop-up is unnecessary and annoying if the pin is already stored, especially if you don't have superuser rights and you are unaware of the fact that you can just ignore it then. I think we can make it return wx-webview only if the library is found on the system, with this patch I made webview optional, next step is to understand how wx-config really works (I fall asleep before understanding it completely). I see wx-config already have some loops inside looking for libraries on the system, my approach will return the flags only if found on the system, and since this webview is marked as mandatory but seems optional I think we can push this patch also upstream. Is that what you intended in #2? for me if I can fix this last problem we can ask even for an upstream inclusion. Dear maintainers, I can also confirm this bug. Just as Dimitry described, it is not possible to kill the screenlockwer process. It will be killed, but started again. Even as root it is not possible to kill the process. Sometimes the command killall helped, but not in this case. Maybe it is a problem with the rights? In former times kscreenlocker_greet got sticky bit set (rwsr-xr-x with root:root), but now it has rwxr-xr-x with root:root. This problem appears on ALL my computers as well as on 32-bit as on 64-bit systems. Thank you for reading this. Those were done now, but there's another one that needs to be done first: upower 0.99 (bugs are being filed, I suppose a transition bug will come soon). After upower is done, I think the whole gnome-desktop/mutter/gjs/gnome-shell transition could be done (with a few patches to keep using bluez 4 for now). I need to check if there are any other problems and I'll also prepare it (including those patches) to (try to) make the whole thing as smooth as possible. I think there is a serious issue with this patch. Any file not matching .class, .java or MANIFEST.MF ends being treated like a text file so it ends modifying .groovy, .png, .properties, anything under META-INF, etc. I've cherry-picked this patch after having issues with some maven plugins but you're right it might introduce more issues than it solved. They were repacking themself using jarjar but it won't update references in META-INF/plexus/components.xml. As you can see from Gradle debian/changelog : gradle (1.4-1) unstable; urgency=low * d/control: Build-Depends on libjarjar-java (= 1.4+svn142-1) to build Gradle with jarjar which handle correctly updating the fully qualified class names in the jar's resources. I am consequently unable to install chromium in testing. This is particularly irksome due to the reason I uninstalled it to begin with: I had, some months ago, experienced persistent conflicts between chromium-browser and chromium-inspector; nothing I tried would resolve this, for several weeks; eventually, I'd tried uninstalling both and reinstalling the browser, which worked (and pulled in the inspector, without any apparent problem). I got similar conflicts this morning so did the same, only to find I got this different conflict instead on reinstall. At the time, a version of libudev0 was in fact listed, as deleted but with some config files remaining; it had been deleted when I uninstalled chromium, which was the only package depending on it. Unfortunately, trying to select it for installation was ignored by the aptitude UI. Once I'd purged it (to clear the config files) it was no longer listed; it's apparently not present in testing. So, if I hadn't uninstalled chromium, I'd have had a perfectly good libudev0 lying around that I could have continued using. Unfortunately, chromium's internal conflicts had left me little option but to uninstall it. Fortunately, stable still has a libudev0 with a high enough version, so manually downloading and dpkg -i-ing that works round the problem, enabling me once more to install chromium-browser (and get the whole pile of other chromium stuff I don't want chucked in with it). ... hmm ... and, on doing that, I see apt-listbugs reports exactly this problem, so why didn't reportbug tell me about it ? Possibly something to do with the fact that the package isn't installed ... so I'll post as a follow-up instead of adding another duplicate. Somewhere at the bottom of all of this is a basic error in dependencies among the chromium family of packages: I only actually want the chromium-browser package, but it depends on chromium, which depends on chromium-inspector, which I don't want or need. But for that, I'd not have hit the conflict that forced me to uninstall and left me in a broken state. As long as the chromium package is going to depend on chromium-inspector, i.e. be a top-level package to pull in the whole chromium suite, it should surely also depend on chromium-browser, not the other way around. If there are common packages that the diverse chromium-* programs all depend on, e.g. libudev, then there should be a chromium-common package on which they all depend, with chromium depending on the high-level packages, not depending on the low-level things they need so that chromium-browser has to depend on that in order to get everything and the kitchen sink along with the libraries it needs. I should be able to install the browser without the ancillary tools that aren't actually needed in order to run the browser. Sure, it's good to encourage web designers to actually check what they produce, but that's no reason to burden the browser with an extraneous Depends - it should at most be a Recommends. If the default bundle file isn't adequate, you can specify an alternate file using the --cacert option. If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might not match the domain name in the URL). If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use the -k (or --insecure) option. This problem does not appear with the certificate from vzstats itself. There is one more problem. A server admin can select and deny CA:s by configuration. This is all good, but it is very hard for the admin to dig down that it is because of a specific setting this statistics gathering script stops to work. So I prefer not to change this, unless there is a very good reason to do that. This looks like a bug in lilv. In the lilvmm.hpp header the structs UI and UIs
are repeated. It seems that a misapplied patch (that should have been removed)

There is one more problem. A server admin can select and deny CA:s by configuration. This is all good, but it is very hard for the admin to dig down that it is because of a specific setting this statistics gathering script stops to work. If he doesn't trust that CA, there is no reason to suddenly trust it when he wants to get statistics. We can't use file triggers in the way fontconfig does, because dpkg does not guarantee the order in which it processes triggers (gnustep-back-common's triggers may be processed before fontconfig's which would be useless). I do think that db_set dovecot-core/create-ssl-cert false that lines must go away.
