Ooo, shame on you as upstream of both ;) . But see below.

This makes me wonder, does fpc have any reasonable symbols tracking
mechanism? I guess it does (at least in ppu files), so should we extend
the Debian tooling dh_makeshlibs/dh_shlibsdeps to be able to handle the
fpc situation?

If you don't want to release newer version for these kind of
incompatibilities, or if you want to go to something fully based on
version control versions, than let's discuss. We can come up with
working schemes if you want. I am not strict on having upstream tar
balls (although it is nice that people can check the checksum of the
Debian tar ball versus the one provided by upstream). So if you are more
for rolling release, we could do that.

> IOW, it's my fault, I broke Castle Game Engine API in 5.2.0.

Could you at least communicate these kind of changes pro-active on this
list or somewhere in your own domain where we can pick it up (via push
communication). Or just a clear "THIS BREAKS API" note in some
changelog, I scan all the changed between two versions during import of
the tar ball.

If possible, could you check also with 3.0.0. That was released last
week and I am preparing the upload (to experimental) still. When we
verified all reversed dependencies (help would be nice), I want to ask
for a transition slot.

Thanks. I read it and for me it works fine (on this machine) again.

Well, on this machine I did not define anyting and just jused the
default parameters which should not render the machiine (almost)
inoperable. They might not be perfect, there I agree.

(And in the case of ffmpeg I don't even know what to enter, ffmepg is
gone, isn't it?).

Exactly, since this VM is seldomly used I did not bother optimizing
the settings. And in this case I wasn't even aware that the problem
was coming from here.

I think you can do so?

Bug#619086: cruft: support dpkg path-exclude/path-include

2015-11-28 Thread Alexandre Detiste
control: tag -1 pending

I've added support for path-exclude to cruft-ng.

https://github.com/a-detiste/cruft-ng/commit/6d265fa9670a636f0ba761e1ead5ef5f3a60efbf

A few comments:

- apt has "apt-config dump", but dpkg doesn't have an equivalent,
so I brought my own; that's ok, as cruft{-ng} needs to closely follow
  dpkg internals anyway

- path-include would be much more difficult to implement with little gain

every one seems to use it for /usr/share/locale or /usr/share/man
or even /usr/share/doc ... ; that are all optional files
(likewise I also put /var/log on tmpfs on my raspberry's to spare the SD card)

How did you do the conversion? Did you try this by "export" from xfig
or did you manually call fig2dev?

I ask this, since I just found a upstream bug in xfig 3.2.5.c, that
doesn't seem to exist in 3.2.5.b, which has to do with locales.

The problem here is, that xfig calls fig2dev with parameter -m with a
factional value. With German LOCALE this faction is represented a
0,15 instead of a 0.15, which was expected by fig2dev in the
-m parameter.

I'm just preparing a patch and new upload to fix this.

> PostScript files are also not printable - my printer does not

> I suppose that it is due to new PostScript version:

As far as I can see, this is a consequence of the same problem. The
magnification of the EPS file is set to 0.0 which results in an
unprintable result.

Please try, whether setting LANG=C works as a workaround for your problem:

env LANG=C xfig

Roland

that rcc embeds a timestamp into a comment in generated Python code.

The attached patch removes the timestamp, since it provides no

Bug#796588: Bug796588#: adjtimex: Has init script in runlevel S but no matching service file

2015-11-28 Thread Roger Shimizu
Dear systemd maintainers,

I'm in the process of ITA adjtimex package, which contains a bug you
reported that need to support rcS service. I'm trying to fix this
before send out my 1st release to close ITA.

> Package: adjtimex
> Severity: important
> User: pkg-systemd-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
> Usertags: init-rcs-service
> Your package adjtimex has an initscript that is enabled in runlevel
> S, but it does not provide a corresponding systemd service unit.

As you may already know, adjtimex is a tool to set up kernel time
variables in boot time. Correct time and time ticking is important to
many services, including time-sync service, so in SysV world adjtimex
is run in rcS level, which is very early.

Enclosed the "adjtimex.service" file I wrote and confirmed working
well on my box.
Since this is the first time I write service file, it would be helpful
if you can help to review it.

I also have one doubt whether to have "RemainAfterExit=yes", which is
commented out now.
After setting the kernel time variables, adjtimex simply exits and
don't need to remain as daemon. I guess it should be okay to be "no".

Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

Cheers,
Roger

Bug#805499: treeview is marked for autoremoval from testing

2015-11-28 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Sveinung,

I came across this bug due to a reverse dependency which is in danger to
become removed from testing. Please announce here if you have some
trouble with uploading a fixed version.

BTW, I strongly recommend to team maintain the package in the Debian Java
team where other people could easily do team uploads.

I'd volunteer to inject the packaging into pkg-java Git and do the
upload if you want me to do so. If I do not hear from you until mid
December I assume agreement from your side and move on to save the
reverse dependency I'm interested in inside testing.

Kind regards and thanks for maintaining libnanoxml2-java

Andreas.

Looks like this is a work around for a bug that was in Python 2.5.

You are demonstrating the good case, I am after a bad case. Let's try
this:

[Unit]
Description=SomeThing
After=network.target
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

[Service]
Type=notify
Restart=on-failure
ExecStart=/bin/sh -c "echo OMG THEY KILLED KENNY >&2; exit 123"

and check the result:

 foo.service - SomeThing
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/foo.service; disabled; vendor preset:
enabled)
Active: failed (Result: start-limit) since Sa 2015-11-28 11:28:39 CET; 13s
ago
  Process: 6982 ExecStart=/bin/sh -c echo OMG THEY KILLED KENNY >&2; exit 123
(code=exited, status=123)
 Main PID: 6982 (code=exited, status=123)

Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: Failed to start SomeThing.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Unit entered failed state.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix sh[6982]: OMG THEY KILLED KENNY
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Service hold-off time over,
scheduling restart.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: Stopped SomeThing.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Start request repeated too
quickly.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: Failed to start SomeThing.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Unit entered failed state.
Nov 28 11:28:39 idefix systemd[1]: foo.service: Failed with result
'start-limit'.

Looks good, huh? So what is the major difference to the script in the original
report?
Is it maybe this?
Type=notify

I can imagine that if the service dies before any dbus event was sent then the
messages are printed early, followed by the spam I mentioned? And that makes
them scroll out of "systemctl status" buffer?

But anyhow, it's a secondary issue and probably deserves a second bug report.
The thing that botters me, see subject, is the broken -n option, adding -n20 or
-n2000 to systemctl-status call does not change anything. It keeps displaying 10
lines.

Regards,
Eduard.

The PSM Messaging API, or PSM API, is Intel's (formerly QLogic's) low-level,

users can use mechanisms necessary to implement higher-level communication
 interfaces in parallel environments.

The actually URLs would be:

http://www.ros.org/reps/rep-0142.html
https://github.com/ros/metapackages

But as it's just a metapackage and we adopted the package names to the
Debian policies anyhow, we didn't used it but modelled a native package
with similar dependencies.

Hi Kai-Chung,

I think upgrading src:groovy to version 2.x is a good idea. Though it is
more important that we upgrade all reverse dependencies of groovy 1.x to
to groovy 2.x first, so that we can drop one source package before the
Stretch release.

These are the current reverse dependencies in unstable:

freemind -> will be removed from Debian soon because we have a very
similar package already (freeplane)

libspring-java -> must be updated to a newer version

jenkins -> unmaintainable, can be ignored

red5 -> must be updated to a newer version

If you want to update either libspring-java or red5, that would be a big
help.

Regards,

Markus

[ Following up with information that Laurent asked via IRC. ]

I've done "update-initramfs -k 3.16.0-4-amd64 -u" and I confirm that
after that also 3.16 became broken: it hangs before asking the LUKS
password, whereas it used to work before update-initramfs.

Linux 4.1 still boots properly (asking the password via askpass),
because I haven't update-initramfs'd it.

So it is something that sneaks in upon initramfs creation, and that used
not to sneak in with older plymouth versions.

I can also confirm that the workaround of passing plymouth.enable=0 on
the kernel cmdline sidesteps the problem. I'm now running 4.3 from
experimental, which boots properly with plymouth.enable=0.

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

while dealing with #806475 we eventually figured out that while
setgroups is nooped by fakeroot, getgroups isn't handled at all.

Attached is a trivial patch which lets getgroups return always a list
containing only the current (faked) gid. A proper patch would likely
involve saving in setgroups as well, so not marking as +patch – also as
the wrapping of initgroups somehow suggests you don't want to deal with
this at all.

Best regards

Bug#806526: hardening-includes: Typos in manpage

2015-11-28 Thread Ben Wiederhake
Package: hardening-includes
Version: 2.7
Severity: minor
Tags: newcomer

Dear Maintainer,

currently, the manpage for hardening-check contains a few typos and broken
sentences that make it hard to read.

These are what I found while reading it (via "man hardening-check") :

- Section "Fortify Source functions", sentence "This causes certain unsafe
glibc functions [sic]with their safer counterparts (e.g. strncpy instead of
strcpy)"
-> Missing "to be replaced" at my mark?
- Same section, end of the sentence, "insteade[sic]"
  -> s/insteade/instead/
- All "-no*" options: "No[sic] not require that the checked binaries be built"
-> Did you mean "Do not"?
- Why can't the program "codespell" find these typos? At the very minimum,
"insteade" should be detected. Resolving this might uncover further typos.
- Probably separate thing: What is "hardening-check.sh" do? It seems to
duplicate the functionality, contain a broken old version of the man page, and
is not in the BZR repository.

If the answer on most of those is "yes", I can try to make a patch for it.

Regards,
Ben Wiederhake

Indeed, right now there doesn't appear to be a way to say "I depend on
vim-ruby provided by a package that itself depends on libruby2.2".

The justification for grave would be that the whole package was unusable
without a way to work around it or it was affected by a security
vulnerability. This is not the case here. This is an annoying bug,
agreed, but there is a simple workaround and most films could be viewed
or downloaded. I can't even fix the bug in MediathekView itself because
the URLs are part of the film list which is downloaded at startup. The
parameters are correct but the input was wrong.

In stable we still use libav, so you have to replace ffmpeg with avconv
and install the libav-tools package. However the project migrates to
ffmpeg in Stretch again. I never had to use both for MediathekView
though but in some cases they might be useful.

I fear this is a security feature in recent mpm-itk versions: It
prevents changing uid to root, which was a significant security issue
in previous versions.

To work around it, you would have to change your php or php-apps to
send mails via SMTP to localhost instead of invoking /usr/lib/sendmail
directly. I can't give any advice on how to do that, though. Or maybe
there is some way to install some minimal MTA like ssmtp or nullmailer
as /usr/lib/sendmail that forwards the mail to exim via SMPT. Not sure
how easy it is to install those parallel to exim, though. Maybe it
could work by diverting exim's /usr/lib/sendmail .

Stefan

I was quite confused about what you where speaking of but it seems
you're talking about some commands that was removed from upstream
util-linux in ancient history.

For example the rdev command:

$ git show a3e40c14651fccf18e7954f081e601389baefe3f | head -n 5
commit a3e40c14651fccf18e7954f081e601389baefe3f
Author: Karel Zak
Date: Thu May 13 13:58:16 2010 +0200

rdev: remove this deprecated command
$ git tag --contains a3e40c14651fccf18e7954f081e601389baefe3f | grep ^v | sort
-u | head -n 1
v2.18

Not sure how exactly this applies to Debian, but assuming it does then
it would be an issue between old-oldstable and oldstabe which is just
too far back for me to personally care very much.

>
> Until the Linux kernel removes these features, removal of the

Which likely will not happen *ever* since the kernel policy is to not
remove things unless someone *notices* they've been sitting broken for a
long time without anyone reporting it, which will never happen given the
userspace tools doesn't exist anymore
Thus I'm not a fan of your logic here.

> I'm cringing at having to report it, but
> under the right circumstances they're still handy to have.

In those rare cases I'd be willing to bet that just git cloning
util-linux, checking out some ancient version and builting that could be
done... or if snapshots.debian.org carries old enough versions of the
package (and they where ever included in Debian before?) they could be
extracted from there.
Debian does not have to ship a utility for everything... Other sources
of software besides the official archive are allowed.
Maybe there are even newer and better ways at utilizing whatever
these old tools provided.

> Someone good with rants really needs to chew out whomever thought
> removing them was a good idea.

I doubt ranting will solve anything. If you want this issue fixed you
should talk to upstream util-linux project though, not Debian.
>From a Debian perspective I'm tagging this wontfix because someone would
have to consider being the upstream of these tools before they get
packaged. Maybe you want to start a "old-tools" project (or whatever
name you find suitable) containing the sources for these tools and
maintain them yourself? If so, just file a RFP bug against "wnpp" once
the project is live.

>

My apologies for not meeting your request, but I hope you understand
that there's a limit to how far my volunteer effort goes around here...

I hope you find a way to work around your issues.

Hi!

While working on the "reproducible builds" effort [1], we have noticed
that onboard could not be built reproducibly.
It links against libraries in a random order.

The attached patch fixes this by sorting the list of items parsed
from pkg-config.

Regards,
 Reiner

Bug#777043: Shark / libshark packaging status

2015-11-28 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

from my outsiders perspective I would assume that if you checked whether
Goswins work contains something that might be relevant for the packaging
and is not yet in your repository and upload as team upload in Debian
Science things should be fine. I'd recommend to drop a note in the
repository inside Debian Med about the new location.

Surely Goswin as owner of the ITP has a last word but from the Debian
Med teams point of view any progress that leads to an upload of the
package is welcome.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Ah, right. I've commited a split of the test and will upload a new

yeah, some hidden files:

Indeed!
I think I have a pretty basic quilt config:

QUILT_PUSH_ARGS="--color=auto"
QUILT_DIFF_ARGS="--no-timestamps --no-index -p ab --color=auto"
QUILT_REFRESH_ARGS="--no-timestamps --no-index -p ab"
QUILT_DIFF_OPTS='-p'
QUILT_COLORS="diff_hdr=1;32:diff_add=1;34:diff_rem=1;31:diff_hunk=1;33:diff_ctx=35:diff_cctx=33"
QUILT_PATCHES=debian/patches

So I have no real idea why the .pc folder is still there

Cheers,

Bernd

That seems an overly generic name for something that's specific to
fonts(?).  (And adding the customary 'python-' prefix to the binary
package won't change that.)

I fear I don't have enough time to configure a setup to reproduce
this. It would be helpful if someone could try to figure out what
causes the delay here, possibly using strace or some verbose php
logging.

The current version of mpm-itk installs a seccomp filter to prevent
privilege escalation to root. This has the side effect that suid-
binaries do not work when called by mpm-itk. Maybe something in
file_get_contents requires a suid root binary? Possibly something with
host name resolution?

Stefan

Hah, I think this is good news. Since MuseScore is the reference
implementation for sf3 sound fonts support I consider it a success that
FluidSynth with my patch sounds the same. Even if this means that there
are the same artifacts.

Honestly, I think now the sound font or the software that created it is
to blame for setting wrong loopstart and loopend values. Resetting them
both to 0 is really just a hack that should be avoided.

Thank you very much for testing my patch!

Bug#806531: gnupg2: old DSA 1024 key is not useable

2015-11-28 Thread Sandro Knauß
Package: gnupg2
Version: 2.1.9-1
Severity: important

Hey,

I have an old DSA 2014 key and used that key a lot, so I have a lot of mails
encrypted with that key, at least I want to read my old mails. Btw. the key is
also available at sks-keyservers.net.

I attached some output of gpg(2) --list-(secret-)keys. The failing part is gpg2
--list-secret-keys.

Also decrypt/encrypt a file on the cmdline with that key without any positive
outcome. I can use other keys that are RSA 4096.

The migration from 1->2 was made:
 * I stopped gpg-agent
 * copied the keys from an old location
 * start gpg-agent again.

I tried also to manually reimport the secrect key again but that didn't fixed
it.

Reagrds,

sandro

Unfortunately this patch fixes only one half of the problem
(avcodec_*_frame -> av_frame_*), but not the other (PixelFormat ->
AVPixelFormat,
PIX_FMT_* -> AV_PIX_FMT_*).

For your convenience, I'm attaching a patch for the missing parts.

Bug#806539: ITP: libdata-dump-oneline-perl -- Perl module that dumps data structures as single-line strings

2015-11-28 Thread Lucas Kanashiroo
Package: wnpp
Owner: Lucas Kanashiro
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libdata-dump-oneline-perl
  Version : 0.07
  Upstream Author : perlancar
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Data-Dump-OneLine
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Perl module that dumps data structures as single-line
strings

Data::Dump::OneLine dumps data structures as single-line strings. It uses
Data::Dmp.

JSON should also encode to a single-line string, but some data structures
(cyclical, contains globs or other special Perl data) cannot be encoded out of
the box to JSON.

Data::Dumper::OneLine strives to do the same for Data::Dumper.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

This is the same issue as in #752930. I've just uploaded 0.63-4 that
should fix it. Could you please verify and unblacklist if it works.

I disagree that "fail to install" is an appropriate action when there
is no damage done to the system in question.

Well, its hard to disagree with fixing broken packages ;).

However, failure to install is too great a cost to pay for detecting
such bugs, especially when the bug will not affect the current system.
We do not cause install failures when packages have RC bugs, or fail
to build on other architectures. We don't even fail to install on file
conflicts when the conflicting package is not installed. I think we
should stick to that logic here: if we know that sysv init is never
going to be booted (because a critical file is missing), then don't
bother with ordering problems, because they never will be problems for
the current system.

Maybe insserv should be changed to emit a warning even when -f is
passed. Currently it succeeds silently when -f is passed.

Bug#119911: ITP: alephone - marathon engine for data games

2015-11-28 Thread Alexandre Detiste
Hi,

I've added a rule in G-D-P for Marthon.

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/game-data-packager.git/commit/?id=276b4a06fb63b85be1db5069f0bc80620a1bc79e

The package with the engine should also provide 3 .desktop files with a TryExec
clause
that point to a file provided by G-D-P -created, .deb
for example /usr/share/games/marathon-{1|2|3}/try-exec
as symlinks back to /usr/games/alephone .

This way the icons are only displayed if the matching data are installed.

The engine should go in contrib, as the assets are not DFSG-free and
the engine is useless without assets.

>3) the game-data-packager that that preliminary installer

Hum, there's built-in support for that, this shell script is not needed.

That got ugly temporarily due to a binNMU that went wrong and produced
a library with the wrong soname. We could probably Replace libept1.4.16
(= 1.0.14+b2) or something (and conflict with that build).

The broken libept binNMU was in unstable for less than 24 hours though
(excluding non-Linux ports, for which it still exists, because the
current build FTBFS due to O_PATH being undefined, which is easy
to fix).

What do you think?

This package recently started failing its autopkgtest checks on ci.debian.net:

I believe this coincides with a system upgrade of ci.debian.net, so
presumably this is caused by the environment there rather than an ABI
incompatibility or something like that. More investigation is needed.

I'm cc'ing Antonio, who's operating ci.debian.net. Does any of this

The install-menus command has a --remove option that I will be taking
advantage of, to decouple the packaged menu-methods from its cleanup. A
change to add other menu files would be consistently removed without any
need to know about postrm responsibilities

When in response to a 'purge,' the menu-methods file has already been
removed during postrm. While I could place this in prerm, the existing
debhelper mechanisms for cleanup are placed into postrm, so I figured to be
consistent... Since the script is always auto generated, the net effect
would be that while /etc/menu-methods/rxvt remains after a remove, the
effective menu in /etc/X11/rxvt.menu is removed. If menu guys disagree,
I'll move this to prerm on purge.

Bug#806530: gnome-shell: Left click followed by right click on desktop causes issues with focus.

2015-11-28 Thread Mladen Mijatov
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.18.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I've noticed a weird pattern which causes some serious usability issues. If I
left click on desktop then right click (on desktop, not the menu) I will not be
able to change focus of windows with mouse. Clicking does nothing anymore. To
reset this behavior I simply have to press Super key twice, once to show the
launcher and once to hide it.

This issues is 100% reproducible on my system. Enabling desktop icons through
Gnome Tweak solves this issue.

Bug#806535: vim-runtime: Please add Multi-Arch: foreign

2015-11-28 Thread Elrond
Package: vim-runtime
Version: 2:7.4.826-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

It looks like vim-runtime/vim-gui-common offers an
architecture independent (data/script level) interface to
its users.
Would you mind setting it to Multi-Arch: foreign? It's
usually a matter of adding one line to debian/control.

This would hopefully improve install options for different
architectures.

Note: Architecture=all packages are not Multi-Arch=foreign
automatically for various reasons, so they need to be set
manually.

Cheers

Elrond

I'd suggest you remove the line entirely. (The default is
RemainAfterExit=no.)
You have no "stop" method, thus there's no point in using this
directive to mark the service as still running so that it can
later be "stopped".

For more information:
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.service.html#RemainAfterExit=

>
> Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

I also suggest you look into the possibility to not running
the init script from the service file.

Should be possible by making the following changes:

Remove:
ConditionFileIsExecutable=/etc/init.d/adjtimex

Add:
Environment="TICK=1 FREQ=0"
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/adjtimex

See:
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.exec.html#Environment=
EnvironmentFile= should "win" over default settings in Environment=,
while the dash (-) prefix says it's ok if the file does not exist.

Replace:
ExecStart=/etc/init.d/adjtimex start

with:
ExecStart=/sbin/adjtimex -tick "$TICK" -frequency "$FREQ"

In case these changes sounds useful to you, then please confirm the
above to make sure my understanding of the situation is correct.

Bug#805828: mysql-server-5.6: upgrade didn't work, package unusable, mysql does not start

2015-11-28 Thread Robie Basak
Hi,

Do you have steps to reproduce this please? What makes you think it is a
bug in the packaging as opposed to a configuration problem on your
system?

On Sun, Nov 22, 2015 at 10:02:05PM +0100, jpp wrote:
> The /var/lib/mysql is a symlinj to another location on another disk.

I'm not aware of any path in the maintainer scripts that will create
this as a symlink. Is this something you have configured yourself?

> /etc/mysql/mysql.cnf [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
> u'/etc/mysql/mysql.cnf'

Again I'm not aware of a path that would cause this to not exist. IIRC
it is a conffile shipped by mysql-server-5.6.

> 2015-11-22 21:53:53 4936 [ERROR] Fatal error: Can't open and lock
> privilege tables: Table 'mysql.user' doesn't exist

This I have seen. I think upstream know more about it, but I don't
recall the details. Have you ever installed MariaDB? Because the
migration path from MySQL back to MariaDB isn't automatic.

> Severity: critical
> Justification: causes serious data loss

I don't think this is justified until we can determine that this is
really a bug. For that we need steps to reproduce please. You said that
you found this on a test server. Can you restore the test server to find
out what the state of the system was before you attempted the upgrade?

Thanks,

Hi,

I haven't noticed anything about this on the pkg-fonts list so am forwarding
there for comment/(volunteers?).

Er, looks like he is using personal forks of defcon and robofab which are
already being packaged from the upstream github branches to be used by afdko.
It might be that the trufont guy has made modifications to use them with
python3.

fonttools is uptodate with the latest release.

Bug#806534: libio-pty-easy-perl: nondeterministic failures in t/read-write.t

2015-11-28 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: libio-pty-easy-perl
Version: 0.09-1
Severity: normal
Forwarded: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=95702
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: autopkgtest

Test 3 in t/read-write.t occasionally fails on ci.debian.net. See
 https://ci.debian.net/packages/libi/libio-pty-easy-perl/unstable/amd64/

I can reproduce this by running the test in a loop and adding
other load to the system. It could make the build fail, although
the reproducible.debian.net system hasn't seen that yet.

The test writes a large (1M) string to a subprocess that doesn't consume
any input. This write is presumably expected to block. The test then sets
up a timed alarm (1s) with a handler that immediately tries to write even
more. The second write is expected to fail, but it sometimes succeeds,
causing a test failure.

Looking at strace output for the test failure, the select() call in
IO::PTY::Easy::write() indeed returns immediately indicating that the
write FD is ready for writing. The number of bytes written when the alarm
signal arrives is a bit less than for the "normal" case, 11776 vs. 13824,
but giving the syswrite() more time doesn't make the bug go away.

Given the next test is a related TODO test for write timeouts, I'd say
this is not worth the trouble. I'm inclined to just disable the test.

This is also [rt.cpan.org #95702], and there's plenty of failure reports
on CPAN testers.

not working around it. Unfortunately no reply yet.

I understand that you do need hppa64 cross compilers to bootstrap the
hppa port. That is why the proposed patch leaves with_hppa64 enabled
when setting hppa as a cross target.

What I do not understand is why I suddenly need hppa64 cross compilers
to bootstrap amd64, i386 or x32. This wasn't required a week ago. Where
does this new requirement come from?

And it wasn't required before. gcc-5-hppa64-linux-gnu is now in the archive for
x86 hosts.

Also why do the generated Build-Depends for targets amd64, i386 and x32
not list binutils-hppa64-linux-gnu when the build ends up using it. This
is inconsistent.

Sure, is this the only problem building a complete x86 stand alone cross
compiler?

Not sure what you propose here.

If you mean drop from testing then that happened already 2 weeks before
your email.

If you mean drop from unstable, then I see no benefit in that, but a
drawback is loss of bug tracking.

Bug#704303: violates Debian Policy 2.3 Copyright considerations

2015-11-28 Thread Sandro Knauß

thanks

Hey,

Iceweasel's `/usr/share/doc/iceweasel/copyright' file says:

| The complete text of the Mozilla Public License can be found in
| the `MPL' file in the same directory as this file.

the Debian Policy 2.3 is clear about the license text in d/copyright:

"Every package must be accompanied by a verbatim copy of its copyright
information and distribution license in the file /usr/share/doc/package/
copyright"

and 12.5:
"Packages distributed under the Apache license (version 2.0), the Artistic
license, the GNU GPL (versions 1, 2, or 3), the GNU LGPL (versions 2, 2.1, or
3), and the GNU FDL (versions 1.2 or 1.3) should refer to the corresponding
files under /usr/share/common-licenses,[119] rather than quoting them in the
copyright file. "

So not shipping the full text of the MPL inside d/copyright violates the
debian policy 2.3 and 12.5 - a link to a local file is not enough. I discussed
that in debian-devel and other had the same interpretation of the debian
policy, too.

So please copy the complete text of the MPL into d/copyright to fullfill the
debian policy.

pulled from the last s-p-u upload due to a bug. It also fixes some other
annoying but easy to fix issues.

Changelog:

 * Add versioned replaces/breaks for libapache2-mod-macro to apache2,

 * Fix split-logfile to work with current perl. Closes: #803472
 * Fix tests on deferred mpm switch. Add special casing for mpm_itk,
which is not an mpm anymore, despite the name. Closes: #789914
   Closes: #791902
 * Fix secondary-init-script to not source the main init script with
   'set -e'. Closes: #803177

Debdiff is attached.

Bug#798242: systemd: Failed to execute operation: Connection timed out

2015-11-28 Thread Martin Pitt
Control: fixed -1 228-1

Hello James,

James Cameron [2015-09-07 3:19 -0500]:
> Processing triggers for systemd (215-17+deb8u1) ...
> Failed to execute operation: Connection timed out

This sounds like another case of
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/1505, which finally got
fixed in version 228.

This bug is really hard to reproduce reliably on versions < 219, and
still hard to reproduce in that particular postinst situation with
later versions.

I don't close this for now, it would be interesting to see whether
this still happens with >= 228 in any case.

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#806532: FTBFS on jessie

2015-11-28 Thread Daniel Pocock
Package: python2-pythondialog

I wanted to try the letsencrypt package on jessie so I tried to build
python2-pythondialog and it fails.

It seems to need gnulib added to the build-deps

The setup.py needs to be patched (see attached)

In setup.py, last_commit_in_ch_init seems to be wrong, needs to be reviewed

As reported in https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10604, it is
possible to circumvent the problem by adding the line

Bug#801848: iwatch: Typo in /etc/default/iwatch makes it unable to start

2015-11-28 Thread Eriberto
tags 801848 wontfix
thanks

Hi all,

Yes, as Helmar said, the CONFIG_FILE is correct. This variable is used
by /etc/init.d/iwatch script, not by iwatch program.

The problem is caused by systemd and will need a manual action because
the systemd upstream do not want autoreloads. You can see more details
in #790262 [1].

[1] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=790262

What to do? Please, follow the steps:

1. Install iwatch via APT.

2. Change the /etc/default/iwatch

3. Run # systemctl daemon-reload

4. Run # /etc/init.d/iwatch restart

Please, let me to know if these actions solve the problem. I intend to
add these steps in README.Debian file.

Regards,

Eriberto

that netsniff-ng could not be built reproducibly.
The order of object files varies while linking.

The attached patch fixes this by ensuring a stable order independent

Install CImg.h as gmic_CImg.h.

As discussed with upstream we ship gmic's CImg.h as
gmic_CImg.h as it is usually a pre-release / unfinished
version, compared to the one released and shipped in
the cimg-dev package. People who want to use gmic's
features and link with libglib need the version gmic
was built with - and building gmic with the released
version is not possible.

Bug#806533: systemd-sysv: /sbin/shutdown is missing -F option (force fsck on reboot)

2015-11-28 Thread Ian Bruce
Package: systemd-sysv
Version: 228-2
Severity: important

This option seems to have recently disappeared; see here, for example:

http://linuxcommand.org/man_pages/shutdown8.html

It seems to be related to systemd; perhaps it's supposed to be an
"improvement".

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=268935

There are a wide variety of situations in which you might want to force
filesystem checks on reboot, which is why this option existed in the first
place. There is no valid reason for removing it -- it's OPTIONAL.

Can we please have it back?

Bug#806536: libpkgconfig-perl: warns when gcc is not installed, causing autopkgtest failure

2015-11-28 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: libpkgconfig-perl
Version: 0.09026-1
Severity: minor
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: autopkgtest

This package warns on usage when dpkg-dev is installed but gcc isn't:

 % perl -e 'use PkgConfig'
 sh: 1: gcc: not found
dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't determine gcc system type, falling back
to default (native compilation)

This is apparently the case in the ci.debian.net chroot, causing
test failures. See
 https://ci.debian.net/packages/libp/libpkgconfig-perl/unstable/amd64/

Possibly the autopkgtest check for no warnings on usage (use.t) should
just be disabled.

I have some comments:

> Description=adjtimex service in early boot

I think the description of the init script is better: "set the kernel
time variables".

> ConditionFileIsExecutable=/etc/init.d/adjtimex

I thin this is superflous.

> DefaultDependencies=no
> After=local-fs.target
> Before=time-sync.target sysinit.target shutdown.target
> Conflicts=shutdown.target

I'm not sure about time-sync.target. `man systemd.special` says that
time-sync.target is for synchronizing against a remote source, which
AFAICT adjtimex doesn't do. Note that if what you wanted to do is to
run before other time-synchronization daemons, this will not do it.

sysinit.target should be ok, though.
I don't think the conflict/before with shutdown.target is relevant, as
this unit does nothing on stop, and thus does not need to do anything
on shutdown.

>
> [Service]
> Type=oneshot
> ExecStart=/etc/init.d/adjtimex start

I think you should call the program directly and bypass the init
script. You can do as follows:

# default values
Environment=TICK=1
Environment=FREQ=0
# override as in the init script
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/adjtimex
ExecStart=/sbin/adjtimex -tick $TICK -frequency $FREQ

> TimeoutSec=0

This is almost certainly wrong. I think you should skip this entry and
leave it at the default. At some point the system needs to continue
booting, even if the time is wrong, no?

> StandardOutput=tty

Do not set this, as this overrides the administrator default in
/etc/systemd/system.conf. Let standard output go to the system-wide
default.

> #RemainAfterExit=yes

I have seen that Type=oneshot services that do not have
RemainAfterExit=yes can be executed multiple times during boot. This
may or may not be a problem here.

The RemainAfterExit directive controls wether systemd considers the
unit "active" after all the running processes in the unit exited. This
can trigger multiple runs during boot, if at some point this unit is
wanted, but it already ran and exited. My sense is that
RemainAfterExit should be =yes for most Type=oneshot service.
Unfortunately, that means that to manually re-run the unit, one needs
to do a "restart" instead of a "start" to make systemd run the program
again.
