Bug#811463: RM: clojure-contrib -- ROM; obsolete, not used

2016-01-19 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

Could you remove the clojure-contrib package please? This library isn't used
and builds only with Clojure 1.2 which is being replaced by 1.6 in Debian.
Also it will never be upgraded since it has been split upstream into smaller
libraries released independendly.

Thank you,

Emmanuel Bourg

Bug#811464: vmdebootstrap: fails to download packages

2016-01-19 Thread Matt Taggart
Package: vmdebootstrap
Version: 1.2-1~bpo8+1

When attempting to run the jessie backport, vmdebootstrap fails to download
some packages:

# vmdebootstrap --image=./foo.img --size=1 \
 --mirror=http://mirror.lan:/debian --hostname foo \
 --log /tmp/vmdeb.log --verbose
[output trimmed]
I: Retrieving linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u3
W: Couldn't download package linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 (ver
3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u3 arch amd64)
[more output trimmed]
I: Retrieving zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1
W: Couldn't download package zlib1g (ver 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 arch amd64)
E: Couldn't download packages: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 zlib1g

If I look at the log and find the debootstrap command:

DEBUG debootstrap --arch=amd64 --include=linux-image-amd64,acpid stable
   /tmp/tmprREuvt http://mirror.lan:/debian

and run that by hand, it works fine. Before I discovered that I also tried
multiple different mirrors. The version of debootstrap on the system is
1.0.73~bpo8+1 but I also tried with 1.0.67, no difference.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

the only way was to create a folder with root, move the file there,
then I could not delete this file with user.
So I believe the folder rights where pushed to files inside.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I expect that a normal user could not delete a root create file

Bug#741901: antigrav: Patch for libpng1.6

2016-01-19 Thread Tobias Frost
Control: tags 741901 + patch

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared the attached patch for the libpng transition.
However, I currently can only provide the patch but not test it,
especially the "write png" part.

Therefore any feedback is appreciated.

Bug#810990: libxmlrpcpp-dev: /usr/include/base64.h already shipped by heimdal-dev

2016-01-19 Thread Jochen Sprickerhof
Hi,

I've pushed changes to libxmlrpcpp-dev to move the base64.h to
/usr/include/xmlrpcpp [1]. Would it be ok if I reassign this to
libxmlrpcpp-dev and close it, or should we split it, to leave one open
for heimdal-dev?

* Wookey  [2016-01-16 03:26]:

ROS upstream is currently working on ROS2, replacing most of the core
system, so I hope this gets resolved with that.

Cheers Jochen

The CRC code used in gzip_container.c comes almost directly from the RFC 1952,
except for the naming conventions and some additional consting.
Even the comments are copied.

The RFC 1952 has the following license:

Bug#811476: libnss-ldapd: getent hosts crashes with nss-ldapd and mixed IPv4/IPv6 reading

2016-01-19 Thread Simon Bin
Package: libnss-ldapd
Version: 0.9.4-3
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

Dear Maintainer,

The version 0.9.4 of libnss-ldapd contains a flaw that makes the
`getent hosts` command and similar name resolution crash when the LDAP
directory contains mixed IPv4 and IPv6 ipHostNumbers.

I discussed this issue with upstream on
http://lists.arthurdejong.org/nss-pam-ldapd-users/2016/msg5.html
and it is fixed in 0.9.6. I would recommend that Debian provide an
update to stable for this package.

To reproduce: create a Host with both an IPv4 and IPv6 ipHostNumber
assigned inm your directory. NSSWITCH should contain `ldap` in the
hosts section. Then you can observe the crash with either `getent
hosts hostname` or simply `getent hosts`.

This issue severely affects our LDAP based hosts lists since we
started to deploy dual IPv4/IPv6 VMs.

Thanks,

Obviously, it's missing a (build) dependency on python{3,}-funcsigs.
Adding it in debian/control fixed the issue for me.

Bug#715211: [src:linux] Ethernent connect is lost after few minutes, only reboot can recover system.

2016-01-19 Thread Abou Al Montacir
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.3.0-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hi maintainer,

I think I'm experiencing this same issue or a very similar one.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5500 with a RTL NIC:
# lspci
...
07:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E
PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 07)
...

Some times, or shall I say often, my Ethernet connection is lost. When this
happens I can not recover it unless I reboot my laptop.
Some times this happens at a moment you don't want to reboot because of pending
work.
I tried several tricks like unloading the driver and then reloading it bit this
did not help.
When this issue happens I have the following messages:

A keyboard shortcut for omnipresent windows was added in 0.95.7 (see [1]).

I'll submit a patch upstream for keeping a window on top.

http://xenbits.xen.org/gitweb/?p=xen.git;a=commit;h=de858271c16851d662b2613
699401df6ecec8ef8 has now landed upstream, which allows the leaf dir to be
set at configure time and therefore allows the packaging to avoid patching
some stuff.

HVM guests have been broken in Stretch for ages now, so I'm going to look
at preparing an NMU based on that upstream fix + adding
--with-libexec-leaf-dir=xen-$(VERSION) to the configure arguments. I expect
some minor adjustments to debian/patches/config-prefix.diff will also be
required.

An early version of that (based on the not-yet-upstream version of the
patch) is in pkg-xen.git#feature/bug805508, I don't imagine the final
result will look much different.

I'll post a debdiff here as well as updating that branch.

Ian.

2016-01-19 Thread Tomas Janousek
Package: lxc

This seems to be the same issue as
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=773384 which was dismissed
with "this will never work". But it will, it's fixed in upstream, see
https://github.com/hallyn/lxc/commit/473ebc77d6762c2ec49fe59983dabc04f695fd01

Besides, it's not just launching 64b containers with 32b userspace. Currently
I can't launch any containers at all unless I manually setarch i686, otherwise
I'm getting the same errors:

Bug#811456: [pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#811456: Unable to find seq in shutdown

Hi Klaus,

> This might be a regression of the earlier bugfix to not loop forever.

Of #792552 actually (my bad). (#810380, which you're referring to, was
itself a regression of #792552 but I reverted the patch and reworked it
from scratch.) Didn't spot this during tests since seq comes from
busybox which is in cryptsetup's Recommends. So in the meantime, a
workaround is to install busybox.

> However, it has a bad taste for me to do that looping.

Could you expand on this? #792552 shows a desire to try again to close
a device when it's busy on the first try. I didn't add the seq to fix
the endless loop you reported in #810380, but to make the script
eventually bail out (with open crypt devices) and proceed with the
shutdown instead of trying forever *if for some reason the disk keeps
being busy*. (In most cases it'll be closed on the first try and the
script will move on the next crypttab(5) entry.)

Cheers,

As per the above discussion, would it be possible to have the patch comment the
code, rather than delete it, so that people with a need for the serial port
could activate it? Maybe also add a note in the /usr/share/doc/ as to how to
perform the activation.

As long as both are possible, my own preference would be to have the MMC be
default and the serial port be optional. But YMMV.

I'll be more than happy to test any changes...

Thanks!

Rick

Bug#810631: critical: cause found to lxdm pasword fail problem

2016-01-19 Thread Andriy Grytsenko
control: severity -1 important

This bug, while afecting usability of the system, still does not make it
completely unusable, therefore, according to the BTS policy, should have
another severity, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities as
a reference.

And since there was no solution found yet, there is no reason to release
any package updates with patches that don't work. Thank you very much.

Well I can, but the fact that this is an assert() makes me think it is
intentionally not supporting 32bit architectures. Upstream has been
rather opinionated that this code is geared at high-end supercomputers
only.

We might have to restrict the architecture list to 64bit, I doubt just
removing the above assert() will be the end of the story.

Bug#811419: debian-installer: Provide option to disable local interaction with the installer if SSH access is enabled

We have Linux workstations in offices of users who don't have root
permission on the (installed) system. When we upgrade the system we
would like to prevent the user from interacting with the installer.

We preseed all installation settings except the root password and
partitioning. We can use the SSH access to the installer to remotely
finish the installation, but the user can also set the password on the
system as the installer also asks the questions locally. We would like
to prevent this.

It would be nice to have like a 'network-console/remote-only' option to
only allow remote interaction with the installer. The local display
could then show a message that the admin is doing the installation
remotely and to not touch the system.

On RHEL/Fedora we can use the vnc option so the installer is only
available over VNC.

I'm aware that this is not perfect and that the end-user can always gain
access to the system as (s)he has physical access, but (s)he would have
to abort the installation which is immediately noticed by the admin
doing the remote install.

Regards,

Rik

Bug#811461: libqtgui4: Blank windows with "non-default" users

2016-01-19 Thread linus . luessing
Package: libqtgui4
Version: 4:4.8.7+dfsg-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm currently having some issues with running Qt4 based applications:
I get a blank window when "su-ing" into another user and trying to
run various Qt based applications from there. This happens for
mumble, keepassx or electurm for me, for instance.

GTK based applications like eog, libreoffice, iceweasel or gedit run
fine from this alternative user.

Usually I grant display access rights to the alternative user via
"xhost +local:linus". However "sudo gksu -u linus mumble", too, just
gives me blank windows.

The X server runs within a VNC session, started by Xtightvnc. The
window manager within that X server is Xmonad.

Running Qt4 based applications via ssh X forwarding instead of VNC
works fine though. At least after granting the user "linus" read/write
access to ~/.Xauthority of the user that started
lightdm/Xtightvnc/Xmonad/... and setting a symlink from
/home/linus/.Xauthority to /home/$x-server-owner/.Xauthority.

Cheers, Linus

Sorry for the late response -- we just mass-reassigned bugs to the

moved there yesterday.

Bug#811474: LibreOffice Calc forces workspace switch when its window is acted on

2016-01-19 Thread David Guyot
Package: libreoffice-calc
Version: 1:4.3.3-2+deb8u2
Severity: normal

Hello, there.

I use 2 screens, one on the right with the workspaces and the Activities bar,
and one on the left with no special features. I have a strange problem: when,
in Calc on the left screen, I make a right-click, open a menu item, even the
contextual one, the right screen switches to another one, which is really
annoying when one tries to transfer data between Calc and another window. I
then have to go on the right screen and retrieve the first workspace. This
happens on virtually any files, and the workspace switched on is often, if not
always, the one which contains the window from which Calc was started, either a
Web browser or Nautilus; Calc getting the focus is not enough to trigger the
bug, one have to act in it to trigger the bug. This bug has been present at
least since Wheezy.

I will provide any file requested on demand and will try to be available if
some tests are required.

Regards.

I might add that this problem looks similar to #668965 to me, but I'm
far below the level required to be sure of it.

Bug#811430: libjsoncpp-dev: Install jsoncppConfig.cmake to dev package.

2016-01-19 Thread Ghislain Vaillant

Hi Peter, thanks for acknowledging the bug.

Feel free to have a look here for a working example:

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/debian-science/packages/clblas.git/tree/debian

I have also provided an autopkgtest for building the examples to
verify that the find modules was installed appropriately. You may
also want to check clfft, arrayfire... or any other cmake based
package that I personally maintain if you don't trust my advice.

FYI, I believe the pkgconfig file should also end-up in a multi-arch
path (usr/lib//pkgconfig) since it depends on a
multi-arch enabled variable (libdir). I am happy to file a different
bug for it if you want.

Thanks for your work on maintaining jsoncpp.

Cheers,
Ghis

Hi Ghis!

Thank you for this suggestion. I will check about common practices, how
other packages solve this. I am not sure if what you suggest is policy
compliant.

Anyway I think it is a very good idea.

Dear Maintainer,

Could you consider that apt-offline skips
deb copy: -lines in /etc/apt/source.list files?
Those are like

useless for that purpose. Now those files go in the signature file

aufs upstream released[1] a patch for aufs4 - I *think* this[2] is the
one (for Linux 4.1.13+).

As far as I can see there is no aufs3 update (and in any case aufs3
upstream doesn't seem to be think that 3.16.x is supported[3]), but
this might be enough to allow you to look at a fix for this regression
in jessie?

Thanks,

Bug#807379: kde-full: kdeinit, plasmashell crashes connected with libthread_db.so.1

2016-01-19 Thread Maciej Kotliński
The bug is still present and very annoying. I observed it for longer
period of time.

The first observation (and the way to reproduce) is:
-lock the screen without external display connected
-connect external display (I use 2 displays connected via VGA and
DisplayPort)

External displays start working.
Login/Lock screen disappears. I can see my desktop and all opened
windows (the password was not typed in!). The windows do not have title
bar but are responsive (you can scroll the text in editor etc.).
There is an error window telling that kdeinit5 has crashed. I can save
the file with some debuging info (attached). When I close this window
the X server restarts.
This is one of the most unpleasant scenarios - all opened apps are
killed with Xorg restart.

The other way to observe the crash:
After restarting Xorg with external monitor connected disconnect the
monitor (this time I use one monitor connected to DisplayPort). The
screen on the laptop is getting black with arrow. I have to restart Xorg
to do anything.

There is also many other crashes of Plasma, kdeinit5, kwin during normal
work (without connecting/disconnecting external displays).
The windows lose title bar after crashes of kwin. Kwin can be started
manually, than everything works fine until the next crash.

It looks like Plasma restarts after the crash. I only see the error message.

All packages are up to date (Debian testing).

It *was* fixed in git (hence the pending tag), it just was in experimental

Of course. It only supports repository types http and ftp.

If you have your debs available locally, then why do you need apt-
offline in the first place ?

I don't know what you mean here. If your intent is to reuse those
locally available debs, please read the manual. It does have an option
for that, --cache-dir

Also, here is a first review:

A new upstream version is available.

Why is linbpng-dev in Build-Depends? It doesn't seem to be used.

Is there a reason libnordlicht0 and libnordlicht-dev are not multi-archified?

The library exports plenty of symbols that are not listed in nordlicht.h. Please
hide those symbols (for example using __attribute__(visibility("hidden"))) and
ideally get this fixed upstream.

nordlicht is overlinked:

dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: package could avoid a useless dependency if
debian/nordlicht/usr/bin/nordlicht was not linked against
libavcodec-ffmpeg.so.56 (it uses

libnordlicht.so.0 is underlinked. Please link it against libm:

Now fixed!

Attached is an updated patch not containing the commented-out code. Regarding
SO_ERROR for local sockets Hurd is now updated not to issue an error. However,
the test for ENOPROTOOPT should probably still be there, for reasons given by
Samuel in issue 1709. Seems like the old patch got applied to the github code,
see issue 1704 and pull request 1709. Since I don't know anything about github
pull requests, maybe you can handle this?

Additionally, until upstream makes a new release, do you think it is possible to
add the patch to the Debian package so that packages reverse-depending on it can
be built?

Thanks!

5.6.27-2 only exists in testing, and I uploaded 5.6.28-1 to unstable

will be fixed.

Is there anything we should do to accelerate this, given that it will be
a security fix?

Ah, the Tango icon theme. Now I remember. xhtmlrenderer was affected by
the same license issues a while ago.

Packages that build-depend or depend on libasm3-java and
libcommons-httpclient-java should go away too.

My use case is that I have postgresql-9.{0..6} on apt.postgresql.org,
which are all separate source packages building a host of
postgresql-9.X binaries with different names. These go to the main
component in the repository. However, all these source packages build
libpq5.deb as well, and only one of these (for the latest stable
branch) can go to main. The other libpq5.deb versions are redirected
to components called "9.X".

On the reverse side that means that the 9.X component corresponding to
the latest stable branch is empty. (I can't just disable it because of
symmetry reasons in the config, and because it will get filled if the
stable branch is upgraded to 9.X+1.)

>

Long story, but that's the real-world example here. In fact I'm
considering upgrading the apt.pg.o build host to stretch just because
of this bugfix, and because a backport of the current dose-debcheck
version to jessie looks too hard.

Just when I wanted to wrap this up, another important bug popped up
with a trivial fix :)

The bug is #811476 which has a trivial fix that has been in testing for
a long time and affects people who put IPv6 addresses in LDAP. A patch
that can be dropped in debian/patches is attached.

To not delay this process much longer I'll upload 0.9.4-3+deb8u1 with
the fixes for #759544, #794686 and #794068 which were previously
approved in about a week.

Look, I completely understand your point, still I think that such a
small package (I guess less than 10kb in the end) for a single file
which has not changed since 2014-12-23 should be avoided.

But I have just discovered that there is already another similar-in-size

Update, I did manually issue configure, make and make check in the git

 should build when packaged.

Ah, I was actually wondering why it was not enabled for kfreebsd-amd64
since there is apparently JIT support for x86_64 which is used in amd64.

But I was a bit too lazy and exhausted to investigate.

Please attach the full log and the debootstrap.log (which is created if
debootstrap fails with output). My working logfile is attached, run in
a jessie VM using vmdebootstrap from backports. Snipped logs are
largely useless.

 vmdebootstrap 1.2-1~bpo8+1

vmdebootstrap has a series of tests available, including build tests,
which can be run from the source. However, the version of cmdtest in
jessie needs an update to use the updated syntax.

(see the README)

$ sudo apt -y install bc
$ sudo apt -t jessie-backports install cmdtest
$ sudo yarns/run-tests

To run tests without the builds, there are options for just the fast
tests which are run on ci.debian.net.

$ sudo yarns/run-tests --env TESTS=fast

https://ci.debian.net/packages/v/vmdebootstrap/unstable/amd64/

I wouldn't expect the fast tests to fail but bugs and failures in
debootstrap are unlikely to be due to vmdebootstrap itself.

When repeating the tests, please use a primary mirror (as in the
attached log) rather than a local url.

Bug#811558: sbuild tries to remove architecture even though packages are still installed

2016-01-19 Thread Johannes Schauer
Package: sbuild
Version: 0.68.0-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

after a successful crossbuild, the user will receive a message like this:

"E: Failed to remove dpkg foreign-architecture ppc64el"

this is because packages of that architecture are still installed.

Sbuild should only try to remove the architecture after uninstalling all
packages it installed earlier which is in turn only done on
non-temporary chroots.

Thanks!

Bug#811563: Make Continuous Integration page title more informative

2016-01-19 Thread Brian Murray
Package: debci
Version: 1.0.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch

Looking in my browser history I only saw "Ubuntu Continuous Integration"
and no indication in the title about the actual pages I had visited. I
thought it'd be more useful if the title contained information about the
package, architecture, and suite being viewed. As such I've modified the
title to contain those bits of information.

One issue I ran into when testing was that navigating to a package like
/package/g/ would have package information set and subsequently would
have the title modified. Therefore, I've modified @package to be nil
only when packagelist is generated. This patch should work with no
modifications for Debian too.

Thanks!

Bug#689565: Me too (xserver-xorg-input-mtrack, config)

2016-01-19 Thread Ian Jackson
Summary: please change the filename of the default config file,
or otherwise have this module be preferred to synaptic.

My partner has a new Dell 15-5559 which has a clickpad. With the
default synaptics driver, it isn't possible to mouse with one finger
while resting the other finger on the pseudo-button.

Even setting various Area and Bottom parameters didn't help: the
synaptic driver would ignore the touchon the button for the purposes
of movement, but not for the purposes of deciding whether the touch
was a single or multi-finger touch.

We solved this problem by:

1. installing xserver-xorg-input-mtrack

2. mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
   cp /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-mtrack.conf
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-mtrack.conf

I don't fully understand the X configuration mechanism. In
particular, I don't know whether there is a risk that renaming the
copy in /usr will cause the version in /usr (which won't have local
customisations) to override a user'c customised one in /etc with an a
lower number.

So some care may be needed. Perhaps calling the file 51-mtrack.conf
would suffice.

Bug#811569: More forgiving parser on bad input fields

2016-01-19 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: dose-distcheck
Version: 4.0.2-2
Severity: normal

Ubuntu wily and trusty's "universe" Packages files have a weird python
header for python-tempest:

Package: python-tempest

Description: Openstack integration test suite

[...]

dose-debcheck doesn't like it:

 Parse error lines 700601:0--700601:1:

As the header is irrelevant to the installability problem, it would be
nice if the tools would just ignore the field. At the moment I'm
working around the problem using sed -e 's/^Python_/Python-/'.

(Not sure if this is a bug or just wishlist, filing as normal as apt
and friends seem to work just fine with this Packages file.)

It prints "4". So you are right, it fails (and the error message shown
by mpv could certainly need some improvement). That's not very
informative, though...

Since I don't speak any Portuguese, could you please tell me how
should I handle this file:
a) add it as pt_BR.po and keep the old pt.po
b) add it as pt_BR.po and remove the old pt.po
c) replace the old pt.po with the content of the new pt_BR.po

I also noticed that cryptsetup itself fails to cross build, as it just
invokes gcc for askpass. It needs to call the host architecture compiler

carefully at your log pictures, I realized what the problem must be.

It's too bad nobody was able to capture a log where the error
occurred in sr_runtime_suspend, though -- all the logs in the bug

Bug#810748: systemd does not mount /usr in initramfs, breaking split /usr

2016-01-19 Thread Nis Martensen
Control: found -1 228-4

Attached a version of the patch that should work for testing/unstable.
Again intended as a replacement for the existing patch.

Concerning the relationship to #782522, I think we are fine:

With initramfs-tools, fsck flag files for / and /usr will be created and
their presence will be honored, both with the old and the new patch, and
both in jessie and testing/unstable.

With dracut in testing/unstable, fsck flag files are not needed to avoid
double fsck of / or /usr, since systemd will automatically do the right
thing. For /usr, this already works in jessie (assuming 810748 were
fixed), and for / it works in unstable since 220-1:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/4dda4e637e4c17a14db6cd265f36f5e8a5050367

This leaves the case with double fsck for / with dracut in jessie.
However, there is no regression since the bug was never solved, and
there is an easy workaround: When the fs_passno field in /etc/fstab is
set to 0 for the root file system, it won't be checked from the main
system. Only the initramfs does not know that and will check anyway.

Back to this bug, 810748. I agree that it may not be serious for
systemd, also due to the existing workaround. But when you look at it
from a dracut perspective, it means that a supposedly supported use case
(/usr mounted from initramfs) does not work. And it is kind of difficult
to learn about the workaround when your system does not boot. ;-) So it
may still be worth fixing for jessie. What do you think?

Subject: [PATCH] Skip filesystem check if already done by the initramfs

Newer versions of initramfs-tools already fsck and mount / and /usr in
the initramfs. Skip the filesystem check in this case.

Please, proceed with the alternative "a)".

pt_BR is for Brazilian Portuguese, which is a different thing from pt
(for European Portuguese), although their are somewhat related to each
other. They are similar, but not the same, and there are enough
differences between them, so we have two files: pt.po and pt_BR.po.

Description : reimplementation of the Pygame API using SDL2

Pygame_sdl2 is a reimplementation of the Pygame API using SDL2 and
related libraries. The initial goal of this project is to allow games
written using the Pygame API to run on SDL2 on desktop and mobile
platforms. The API will be evolved to expose SDL2-provided
functionality in a pythonic manner.

Pygame_sdl2 is a new build-dependency for renpy, a programming language
and runtime, intended to ease the creation of visual-novel type games.
It will be maintained within the Debian Games team.

This change was indeed intentional. The idea was to remove all the
cruft related to the cudf encoding and provide to the user an output
that could be used immediately without caring about src: and --virtual
prefixes. I've asked Johannes is this was a problem and I was told it
wasn't as the scripts could be easily adapted.

This change was in the CHANGES file of 4.1 but its repercussions
where not clear, so it didn't make it in the NEWS file. I think
this would be fixed in the next debian package.

Even if this change makes sense to me, I'm open to add back the src:
prefix if necessary.

Mehdi, where are these places in the code that still expect "src:" ?
I've removed this prefix from all the yaml output. I didn't really
check if some input require the package to be prefixed with "src:",
but it shouldn't be...

For this release, I also re-wrote the yaml printer from scratch and
there might still be a few problems here and there... In particular
dependency chains, when there is more then one path from a package to
a dependency problem (missing package or conflict), are not all
explicitly printed/expanded as before. Instead I just print one path.

Please let me know how I can help. This tool is for the debian
community :) I'll be at fosdem at the end of the month, if you want to
have a face to face chat.

HI,

This has long been fixed upstream.

I haven't used stable myself since 2003 (only testing/sid/experimental);
so I don't have much real-world experience of backports.

Here it's just a matter of a 1-line changelog:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/systemd-cron.git/commit/?h=backport=119686471b82fed29ce42b4bf323d5c8992592a1

(I can't upload because I have not the bacport ACL yet and
https://rt.debian.org/ is down)

I guess this bug is not big enough to desserve an upload
to stable; you could just use vixie-cron as well
if a full-featured crontab editor is needed;
or pin this one package from testing.

well, naturally, because this package
depends on systemd-sysv.

No log messages appear in "/home//pulse.log" with that
change. However, I tried a few things and finally got something in
the log by adding:

  extra-arguments = --log-target=file:/home//pulse-client.log

in "/etc/pulse/client.conf". The content after running the torified
command and killing it as well as pulseaudio are 509859 lines like:

(   0.000|   0.000) E: [pulseaudio] socket-server.c: accept(): Bad
address
...
(   3.241|   0.000) E: [pulseaudio] socket-server.c: accept(): Bad
address

Does this give any clue? Perhaps I should switch on some more
verbosity ...

Bug#811451: linux-grsec-base: Some useful confs

Please provide diffs against current package version or git, and attach them
to the bug. Explain why you think it makes sense to have them in the package.

Note, as the blog post says, that it's *secure* default, because each and
every use is different, and people have to make their own choices. It might
make sense to ship multiple config files (or rather, have different packages),
like “desktop” or “server” but:

- no config will fit everyone anyway
- there will be requests for tuning this or that on this or that config
- there will be requests for adding new “profiles”

So at one point one should draw a line. It's dead easy to edit the config, so
one has just to make sure people can find the information. I don't really want
to make a debconf script for that, but it could be a possibility too.

I'm not involved in any paxctld effort so I couldn't say. But I'm unsure if
it'd make sense to have the config file in linux-grsec-base rather than in a
paxctld package.

Bug#811567: Support reading multiple patterns from file

2016-01-19 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: dctrl-tools
Version: 2.24-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

it would be nice if grep-dctrl supported -f --file like grep:

  -f FILE, --file=FILE
Obtain patterns from FILE, one per line. The empty file contains
zero patterns, and therefore matches nothing.

My use case is that I have a list of package names that I want to
extract from a Packages file (-P --file=pkg.list), and inversely, want
to remove from a Packages file (-P --not --file=pkg.list). At the
moment I have to resort to ugly for loops in shell to invoke
grep-dctrl N times, or try to construct a regexp pattern to match the
list of package names at onces, which isn't handy to do in shell
either.

(An alternative solution would be to allow --pattern to be passed
multiple times. I guess if either is implemented, the other isn't much
extra effort.)

Thanks for considering,
Christoph

I've also replaced it with an explicit list and an exponential waiting

Exactly. There is Tails' Memory erasure design [0], but it goes beyond
the scope of this bug. (And of course, is moot when the system is
brought down by loosing its power.) I should also add that while Cold
Boot Attacks are a reality with SDRAM and DDR2 [1], DDR3 seem to be
practically immune against them [2].

Bug#811561: net-tools FTCBFS: uses build architecture tools (gcc, pkg-config)

Dear net-tools maintainers,

I noticed that net-tools is built the build architecture compiler during
cross builds. The packaging tries to address this by setting up the CC
variable correctly, but does not account for the fact that CC has a
built-in default. Thus the ?= assignment never assigns anything.
Furthermore, pkg-config must also be cross-prefixed. Please consider
applying the attached patch.

Good catch. I /think/ that this change is not intended and is a bug since
some places in the code still expect the "src:" prefix to be there somehow.

Since printers have been reworked in 4.1, I'd think this is a bug introduced
in 4.1 and still not fixed in recently released 4.2. I'd appreciate a
confirmation by upstream though.

@Pietro: Can you please enlighten us on this issue?

Bug#811565: [uscan] git mode: allow for scanning repositories without tags

2016-01-19 Thread Alexandre Viau
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.15.10
Severity: wishlist
Usertags: uscan

In the Go Packaging Team[1], we face the issue that the Golang community
does not tag releases for library packages. This practice is encouraged
by the golang tools and by the community. Whether that is a good thing
or not is the subject of a broader discussion.

When used with git mode, I would like for uscan to generate a version
number even though the repository is not tagged.

One of our tools, dh-make-golang, is able to do this. For example:
"0.0~git20151028.0.2a60fc2-1":

 - 0.0 is the latest tag. If there are no tags found, 0.0 is the default.
 - git20151028 represents the date of the last commit
 - 0 represents the number of commits that day (counting from 0)
 - 2a60fc2 is the commit id

It does not have to be this exact versioning scheme, others can work too.

I have done a quick research and it looks like this can be done with a
combination of git ls-remote, downloading the last object, and parsing
it for the date.

This would help us a great deal to keep up with our packages, and would
surely be useful for other teams/packages.

This was discussed in dh-make-golang's issue tracker (adding Michael to
CC as he has expressed a friend of his would like to code this):

Hello,

Attached is a patch, hurd-support_4.1.2.patch, making the Debian version 4.1.2
to build properly. Additionally, the patch hurd-support_update.patch is made
against the git master version. I don't know yet if it builds since upstream
does not have a debian/ directory, and it is not yet packaged for Debian.

Thanks!

Since this is a fix in the upstream source please consider submitting
it upstream first. You'll find the util-linux mailing list on vger.kernel.org
or you can also submit via github pull request after forking
https://github.com/karelzak/util-linux/

Please note that you want to add Signed-off-by according to "Developer
Certificate of Origin". Also mailing list submissions are preferred
to be in "git am"-format as well as inlined (not attached).
eg. git format-patch -s master..

I'm happy to cherry-pick the commit once it's been merged upstream,
since that simplifies and streamlines the maintenance efforts for me.
Please poke me with the commit hash once merged.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
