Bug#755947: libquvi: error: server response code 403 (conncode=0)

2016-10-15 Thread bw123
Package: cclive
Version: 0.7.16-2+b1
Followup-For: Bug #755947

Dear Maintainer,

Just to follow up on this bug, duplicate here recently reported
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=836160
and same against quvi a couple years ago
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=746567

I really like clive/cclive I have used it for years. Not a very sexy program,
but it is useful. I noticed the 403 problem started a couple of years ago. I
tend to just move on to another link, never found a workaround, or any pattern.
All files downloaded lost extension about a year ago, progressbar is gone also.

The package still works around 75% of the time on youtube, and it's no trouble
to avprobe and add the correct extension.

Thanks for the Live Jethro Tull!

Yes. You are right.

However, how to manage "debian/elpa" file at
"override_dh_auto_install" target? Or should I manually install
"e/verilog-mode.el" file without any debhelper support?

Because it was created by dh-make as npm2deb was crashing (#840169). I
have changed this to arch:all.

jison and other cli programs have this issue.

Execution permission for /usr/lib/nodejs/jison/lib/cli.js gets stripped
and a symlink to this file from /usr/bin is not sufficient.

/usr/lib/nodejs/bin/mocha seems to be retains its execution permission.

Either we have to allow /usr/lib/nodejs/jison/lib/cli.js
(/usr/lib/nodejs//lib/cli.js) to be executable or npm2deb should
create a launcher that calls nodejs like I created for jison.

I doubt upstream would accept a patch like that, since I think the idea
for PDFs is that they want a way to manually tag PDFs as being books so
receipts and other things don't show up in gnome books. There's some
discussion about that in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/704316.

I've now committed the fix, you can use something like this:

version=3
opts="uversionmangle=s/_/./g,dversionmangle=s/\+dfsg$//" \
http://sf.net/boost/ .*/[.\d]+/boost_([\d_]*)\.tar.bz2

Note the space after the redirector URL.
Note the numerical directory match, it needs adjusting if you want alpha/beta.

Thanks. Alas, the new version is unbuildable on architectures that
previously failed -- e.g.,

  node-lex-parser build-depends on:
  - jison:arm64
  jison depends on:
  - node-jison-lex:arm64 (>= 0.3~)
  node-jison-lex depends on missing:
  - node-lex-parser:arm64 (>= 0.1.0)

Is there some reason node-lex-parser has an Architecture value of any
rather than all? Its contents all appear to be architecture-independent
at first glance.

I can't disagree. :-)
If I knew how to fix it in the watch file, I would do so.

I see. One other thing I will mention is that the current reflector does
show two occurrences of "boost_1_62_0.tar.bz2". (And just now it even shows
the path and a "direct link" that I'm pretty sure weren't present earlier
today!) However, both occurrences link to the same reflector URL [1] that ends
up at the wrong URL on sf.net.

I know this is the popular Debian perception and certainly it is a nuisance
that the filenames are not unique. All I will say is that the folks releasing
Boost are not novices and likely have a defensible reason for their madness.
More to the point: it is out there and if uscan can be made more flexible, it
would be appreciated.

It's strange that epub doesn't work for you. I tried an epub file from

 Benoit,
my last point would be about privacy-breach-generic lintian.
 You overrided it with :
 --
N: The involved links are meant to illustrate URL examples, so it is
 meaningless
N: to bring the involved material in a local folder.
 --

I agree that bringing stuff locally (as it is advised in the lintian
description) is useless when the goal is to show the code for how to embed
 content of remote images/videos URLs.
Though I still think there's a breach, as loading the documentation makes
 your
browser connect to the internet, load images but also javascripts and so
 on, which
is originally the reason of this lintian definition (or let me know if I'm
 wrong).
Even if you point to DFSG-free ressources, you'll have your browser that
 will still
connect outside, and that's the issue in my understanding.

I've been thinking about this and reading your discussion with Paul Wise,
I came to the following idea : why not changing after generation the html
 (sed...) :

 For images :
 ---
 -https://www.python.org/static/img/python-logo-large.png"/>
 +https://www.python.org/static/img/python-logo-large.png should be
displayed, but it got removed because of
 https://lintian.debian.org/tags/privacy-breach-generic.html.;
 ---

and for the embedded video :

 ---
  >>>  width="400"
  height="300"
 -src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WAikxUGbomY;
 +src="about:blank"
  frameborder="0"
  allowfullscreen
 +srcdoc="This video : https://www.youtube.com/embed/WAikxUGbomY should
be displayed, but it got removed because of
 https://lintian.debian.org/tags/privacy-breach-generic.html.;
  >
 ---

That way, you'll keep the source code example clean, and despite the fact
 the html
is modified, the user reading the documentation will still understand the
 example, what
it should do, what is displayed and altered and why.
Ok the documentation html code is modified but the goal of the doc is to
 get
the idea of the use (source code) and visual result (rather than html
 output that got modified)
I also thought of playing with Content-Security-Policy in of the
 document to block
all outside connections but, I'm not sure all browser implement this
 correctly.
It's also less understable for the reader to understand why things
 disappeared (except
if this "framework" have information facilities). But it would be very
 good to fix
all the privacy-breach-generic in a general manner.

That sounds like an ugly hack that I would rather not see implemented.

The are two issues here:

The redirector was designed in the days when there were no directories
on the sf.net files section. I'm going to try adding links that
include the path, existing links will need to remain for backwards
compatibility.

Your upstream isn't naming snapshot tarballs correctly. This should be
fixed either in boost upstream or in the boost watch files. Modifying
the boost watch file is dependent on the fix for the above issue.

Bug#840912: Add minizip dependency to gwyddion

2016-10-15 Thread Nicola Ferralis
Package: gwyddion
Version: 2.45-1

Gwyddion uses the minizip library to work with zip-compressed files
such as .plux. Minizip is widely available because it comes with zlib,
a base compression library used just about everywhere in everything.
Yet, it is not a required nor recommended dependency in the debian
gwyddion package, which makes the feature of opening zipped packages
missing in debian.

Adding a simple dependency to libminizip-dev in the control file seems
to work. Tested on several versions of Ubuntu.

Bug#840909: ruby-gdk-pixbuf2: cannot overwrite Pixbuf.pixels with substitution

2016-10-15 Thread Shyouzou Sugitani
Package: ruby-gdk-pixbuf2
Version: 3.0.9-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm trying to make ninix-aya work with Ruby-GNOME2 3.0.9.
But I found that I cannot overwrite Pixbuf.pixels with substitution.

pix = GdkPixbuf::Pixbuf.new(:file => "test.png")
pix.pixels[0]
=> 0
pix.pixels[0] = 255
=> 255
pix.pixels[0]
=> 0

In 2.2.5 I can modify GdkPixbuf through pixels.
Is there any API change?

Bug#840908: Uscan's Sourceforge reflector is too naive

2016-10-15 Thread Steve M. Robbins
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: normal

The uscan download from sourceforge doesn't download what you expect
for boost. The reason is that the link provided by the reflector page
[1] is incorrect: it leads to a "snapshot" url [2]. The correct
URL is [3].

Paul Wise indicated [4] that the reflector is a proxy for the RSS
feed and indeed both URLs are present:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/snapshots/master/boost_1_62_0.tar.bz2/download

https://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.62.0/boost_1_62_0.tar.bz2/download

My suggestion is that the ones with "snapshots" in the path are simply
filtered out from list displayed by the reflector as these are not
release files.

I once made a similar mistake in one of my packages and just listed all the
closed bugs without writing down how the new release closes them. You can see
for yourself which version you like better in this commit where I fixed the
problem for my package:

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/buildd-tools/sbuild.git/commit/?h=debian/unstable=5b06c85f93862f004053f1d85c1d69c9d7716955

Indeed it is not strictly *necessary* to list exactly how each bug was closed,
but it is nice for the submitter of the bug to read how it got handled in the
email they receive when your upload closes the bug. With just a list, as a bug
submitter you don't know how your problem was taken care of without manually
diffing the two versions. Here is a nice write-up about why to be more
elaborate in d/changelog:

sbuild used to suffer from the same problem from two different sources.

The first one was from gpg as executed by sbuild itself inside the chroot. You
can have a look at the kill_gpgagent function to see how I kill the gpg-agent.
It is important to pass the $GNUPGHOME environment variable because without it,
gpgconf will be unable to figure out which gpg-agent process to kill.

The second one was more tricky. Sbuild used to use apt-key to put gpg keys into
/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d. But apt-key is calling gpg itself and will thus leave a
gpgagent process running. For its execution, apt-key is creating a temporary
$GNUPGHOME in /tmp which it removes once it quits. Thus, there is no way for
the apt-key user to kill the gpg-agent process spawned by gpg used by apt key
(unless one searches all running processes for those named gpg-agent and tries
to kill them but one might kill too much with this approach). Since
programmatic usage of apt-key is discouraged anyway, I completely removed
apt-key from sbuild and replaced it by some more Perl code. The problem is now
supposedly fixed with recent versions of apt-key.

The problem I faced with schroot here was, that with the gpg-agent process
still running, it was impossible for schroot to unmount /dev. I don't remember
what gpg-agent was using but there were some open file handles in /dev that
gpg-agent used.

Thanks!

Bug#793116: systemd-journald exiting with SIGUSR1

2016-10-15 Thread Daniel Povey
Another observation about this bug, which might be helpful.

If the signal is sent to systemd-journald via
/bin/systemctl kill --kill-who=main --signal=SIGUSR1
systemd-journald.service
then messages like the following show up in the kernel messages from `dmesg
-T`, like:

[Sat Oct 15 21:02:35 2016] systemd-journald[26517]: Received request to
flush runtime journal from PID 1

but they don't show up in the output of 'journalctl -r'.
In /etc/systemd/journald.conf, it says:

#MaxLevelStore=debug
#MaxLevelSyslog=debug

so I would have thought the same messages would go to both places.
I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something here..

* Package name: winregfs
  Version : 0.6

Description : Windows registry FUSE filesystem

winregfs is a FUSE-based filesystem driver that enables accessing of Windows
registry hive files as ordinary filesystems. Registry hive file editing can
be performed with ordinary shell scripts and command-line tools once mounted.
 .
fsck.winregfs scans a Windows registry hive file for problems that indicate
the hive has been damaged by hardware or software issues, reading recursively
the key and value data structures in the registry hive.
 .
This package is useful for pentesters, ethical hackers and forensics experts.

that, plus - your comment reminds me that the reason why the headers
are all in one place is that some of tinfo's functions are declared
in curses.h (due to historical reasons) rather than in term.h

If there were a cleaner separation between the headers,
it would have been more feasible to make a separate package.

 6955 for (p = buf->b_p_cino; *p; )

Yeah, that's the same stack I was seeing all yesterday while bisecting.
buf->b_p_cino shouldn't be NULL at this point.

Taking a step back, there are two issues here.

First, something has changed in the toolset (gcc, Perl, libc, etc.) that
causes 7.4.963 (i.e., the last Vim package built on kfreebsd) to no
longer be able to run properly anymore. This appears to be related to
the -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE/-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 defines.

In 7.4.963, the explicit use of those was isolated to the if_perl*
modules, so that's the only part of Vim that can trigger the crash. You
can see the crash by running the tests of any of the Vim package
variants which include the language bindings (vim-nox, vim-gtk,
vim-athena, or vim-gnome). Alternatively, just run something like:

  ./src/vim -u NONE -i NONE --cmd 'perl $curbuf->Set($curline, "Crash")'

Second, the impact of the problem became broader in Vim patch 7.4.1065
because the PERL_CFLAGS are now applied to option.c, thus touching code
that is used in much more of Vim. At that point, we now can see the
crash simply from trying to run Vim. That's the stack you hit.

Considering that this _only_ exhibits on kfreebsd-* (and maybe alpha), I
don't think it's a Vim problem. I also don't know how to go further
with this.

Cheers,

Bug#840906: [icedove] Add suggestion for optional package

2016-10-15 Thread Samuel Smith

Package: icedove
Version: 1:45.2.0-1~deb8u1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

For fun lately I have been looking at bringing native pulseaudio support
to apps that lack it. Icedove/thunderbird are up next on my list.

On my system, icedove always played through ALSA and bypassed pulseaudio
(which I have installed). While looking through the source code and
online, it seems inside thunderbird it gets its sound support through
its internal "nsSound" library. But it in turn relies on libcanberra. It
was only installed on my system because of a dependency on kde-runtime.
However, "libcanberra" by itself does not give support for pulseaudio,
for that one must install "libcanberra-pulse".

Once that was done, I could control the sounds made by icedove using the
"Event" volume slider of pulseaudio. In my opinion, icedove should
probably have a requirement dependency on libcanberra and should
probably have a suggest dependency on libcanberra-pulse. I am not even
sure if its current dependency on libasound2 is even valid in its
current state.

Regards,
Samuel Smith

Bug#815536: new parameter?

2016-10-15 Thread Jesse Molina

Seven months later

The key issue was the fact that simply using the "pre-up iw dev wlan0
set 4addr on" command wasn't enough because of the race issue. Whatever
you end up doing, make sure to account for that.

Your solution sounds reasonable given the concerns you described with
proprietary drivers.

I can't think of anything else we should be concerned about right now.

Also, as an FYI, the debian wpasupplicant package finally just got
support for bridging a few weeks ago. So, if you can figure out a
solution for this, the next Debian release should natively support
wireless bridging via 4addr mode.

On 10/15/2016 02:47 PM, Santiago Garcia Mantinan wrote:

Hi!

Sorry, but I hadn't read this bugreport till today.

First of all I'd like to clarify that 4-address is not the only way to add a
wifi interface to a bridge, I have done this for years with wifi interfaces
on ap mode without using 4-address at all.

So, setting 4-address on all wifi interfaces automatically doesn't seem good
to me, so... what do you think if we add a new bridge_4addr option that lets
you specify what interfaces should be configured with 4addr? Something like:
bridge_4addr wlan0 wlan1

Does that sound ok?

Thanks for clarifying this - the IDE disk image file I mentioned above
was one created from my Falcon disk on the PC so unreadable on the PC
directly but works by implicit swapping in ARAnyM.

Now I'm officially confused. What do you consider a standard ARAnyM disk
image - ARAnyM (Atari) byte order or host (really IDE standard) byte order?

The way you describe it, the standard disk image format (which needs the
byteswap option enabled, or swapping by DD when copying to media
intended for use on Atari) would be in PC host byte order?

The floppy interface is 8 bit so needs no swapping, or wired up the
right way. Either way, on-disk byte order is the same on Atari and PC.
(Atari only managed to botch up the IDE interface, apparently estimating
the chance of someone using an IDE disk to transfer data very small...)

Bug#779804: Updated maxima-ecl debdiff for maxima 5.38.1-2

2016-10-15 Thread Tobias Hansen
Hi Camm,

I updated the debdiff to maxima 5.38.1-2.

I really hope we can make some progress on this topic. I read again the
private mail that you sent me in March 2015 and I must say that I don't
really understand everything. We tried using maxima-gcl with Sagemath,
but we get Sagemath test failures that are not trivial to fix for us. I
also think that we need the fasl file. (Is that what you called
common-lisp-controller library in your mail?) Unfortunately we have
nobody with any Lisp experience. Because of this, changing the way
Sagemath and maxima work together seems hard.

We are currently working a lot on packaging Sagemath for Debian stretch,
as can be seen from the amount of traffic on our mailing list [1]. I
think we have a realistic chance to get everything that is required done
before the freeze.

maxima is now one of two issues that we don't really know how to
resolve. (The other one is pari, which is resolved if pari 2.9 is
released in time for stretch.)

Best,
Tobias

I have the similar issue. However in my case it occurs only after
/usr/bin/mc command had been run before (mc was started, and then
closed), and the pasted text has 00~ as a prefix and 01~ as a suffix.

I've just tried to investigate this more deeply and discovered that the
issue depends on the shell used, see the following table (obviously
everything in brackets is a comment):

 | effect of pasting the word "text"
shell | after prior run of /usr/bin/mc

/bin/mksh | 00~text01~ (this is my default login shell)

Bug#815927: bridge+bond has some limits

2016-10-15 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan
Hi!

I'm using bridge over bond interfaces reliably on Jessie without problems,
but there are some limitations. All of this limitations are on the kernel,
and thus if you believe some other stuff is not ok, then the one responsible
for this is the kernel.

The limitations I'm talking about is that bridge and bonding don't work well
in all bonding modes, I've read that active-backup and balance-tlb work ok
and I'm using 802.3ad without problems, other than that... you are asking
for trouble.

Please try these modes and let me know your results.

Bug#840840: [Pkg-opencl-devel] Bug#840840: pocl: Does not build on several architectures

2016-10-15 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer
You shouldn't need libpoclu-dev to build OpenCL-using code, only
ocl-icd-opencl-dev (which is available on all architectures).

What does require an ICD is _running_ OpenCL code, including in the test
suite (if any); as buildds are unlikely to have a GPU, build-time
OpenCL-using tests can only be run on architectures with pocl-opencl-icd.
You could build but not test the OpenCL-using part on the other
architectures, but you may well not want to.

There isn't a standard for how to turn off OpenCL (beyond the conventions
applying to compile-time-optional features in general): check the git log
for how you turned it on, and/or upstream's documentation.

I think for -done it would work, but for -quiet, -maintonly, or
-submitter, it doesn't really make sense.

I'm also concerned about the ordering of the control operations for
-done messages, but I think applying the control operations first, and
then the -done operation could work. [This is actually exactly the
opposite of how submit@ and nnn@ works, which is why it isn't trivial to
implement.]

ARAnyM writes in byte-swapped order by default, to enable some sort
of optimisations. When dd(1)ing onto IDE/CF discs used by real hardware
Ataris, you do *not* need to byte-swap from x86, but you *do* need to
byte-swap relative to standard ARAnyM disc images. (Or enable swapping
in ARAnyM… disable really, but that means to enable its option.)

Took me some time to figure this out, but in the end, we had it.

The same applies for floppy discs in ARAnyM vs. real x86/Atari HW.

That exception was added on 2001-01-03, for glibc 2.2.1.
In glibc 2.2, LANGUAGE used to override LC_ALL=C.

In Python 2.0 (released on 2000-10-16), 2.7, and 3.5.0, gettext.py
checks LANGUAGE first, like glibc 2.2. The loop that checks the
environment variables is exactly the same in these three versions.

I searched for "gettext" at bugs.python.org but it didn't find a
bug report for the priority of LANGUAGE vs. LC_ALL=C in gettext.
http://bugs.python.org/issue1166948 says 'LANGUAGE is honoured
even if the default locale is "C"' but I think that refers to
locale.getdefaultencoding, not to gettext.

Bug#815536: new parameter?

2016-10-15 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan

Regards.

Bug#655976: queue-viewer: support binary debdiffs

As some may have noticed, initial support for this went live this
evening.

Some notes:

- the output is current plain text, with no formatting

- there's no filtering of "interesting" content; all architectures for
which there are packages have a corresponding binary debdiff link

- as a result of invoking debdiff once per architecture, passing a list
of "old" and "new" .deb files, the output contains a single copy of
sections such as "Files in second set of .debs but not in first", rather
than the information being attached to the binary package concerned

Bug#840898: reportbug: Show the LANGUAGE variable

2016-10-15 Thread Robert Luberda
Package: reportbug
Version: 6.6.6
Severity: wishlist

The LANGUAGE variable is more important than LANG[1], for example
the following command shows dpkg's help in German, not in Polish:

  LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF8 LANG=pl_PL.UTF8 dpkg --help

With LANGUAGE information printed it would be easier to analyze
bugs like #840610. Could you please add it to the `Locale:' line?

Bug#840633: Maintain with pkg-go?

2016-10-15 Thread Alexandre Viau
Hello :)

Thank you for packaging golang-github-retailnext-hllpp.

It looks like the maintainer is set to Sipwise Development Team. Would
you consider to maintain this package in collaboration with the Go
Packaging team instead?

If you do, I would like that you take some time to read the following:

Here are some things that you could do:

- Create a git repository in our Alioth team and commit your work,
according to the team's guidelines (use dh-make-golang!)

- Leave the changelog to UNRELEASED

- Point me to the repository, asking for review: I will review, build
the package, upload and then tag the repository.

dh-make-golang does things that helps with consistency across the team,
such as the gbp.conf file that ensures pristine-tar is used.

This is how I will test the build of your package:
 - gbp clone git.debian.org:/git/pkg-go/packages/
 - cd
 - gbp buildpackage --git-pbuilder

Cheers,

Hi Gianfranco,

I have uploaded a new version to mentors with the two changes you
mentioned in your mails today:

- Using dh_auto_configure instead of calling ./configure directly.
- Removed the Replaces and Conflicts directive for the binary package.

Use this package if you deem those changes worth the hassle of
re-uploading the package to deferred/15. If not, then I'm happy to keep
the changes for the next time I need to update the cgicc package.

Actually this is the most important line of your bug report ;) In
LC_ALL=C, it is "Reading changelogs..." that should be printed instead
of its translation. Please note that dpkg prints "Reading database
...", not "Lese Datenbank ...".

I can easily reproduce this weird behaviour by setting both
LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF-8 and LC_ALL=C, and this is the only way I can do thi
s.

According to GNU gettext documentation[1]: "The variable LANGUAGE is
ignored if the locale is set to ‘C’." But apparently this does not
work this way in python - it looks like print() ignores the variable,
but gettext.gettext() does not, what is pretty inconsistent, and leads
to errors:

Bug#840897: general: framebuffer modules for non-dri graphics cards are not loaded

2016-10-15 Thread Michal Suchanek
Package: general
Severity: normal

Hello,

I dusted off a notebook with hardware serial port which also happens to have a
Mach64 graphics card.

Accidentally during system upgrade an extra display manager was installed which
broke the text console. Running two X servers without KMS is problematic.

Upstream has a solution that should prevent most of these problems. The current
X drivers seem to work reasonably well with fbdev so long as the fb module is
loaded before the X server is started. At least the Mach64 driver looks ok.
Since the X driver appears to have fbdev integration it should not break the
console so long as fbdev is available.

Unfortunately, atyfb is not loaded by Debian. What's worse, adding the driver
to /etc/modules or /etc/initramfs-tools/modules has no effect. The module is
not loaded.

So I would like the fbdev modules removed from whatever blacklist prevents
loading them and have them loaded on systems that don't have dri modules to
handle graphics.

Thanks

Correct - running parted on Atari or ARAnyM would write the data in the
correct order without a swap option. It's just preparing disk images on
another system (and then using dd to copy that image to a physical disk)
that would need a different byte order.

> which is why I had to byte-swap the disk image when using it in

You mean when creating a disk image from the loopback device, or when
copying the image to disk? That might be a more generic way to handle
the weird Atari IDE byte order (including creating filesystems on the
image and copying data over).

Best leave the code as is for now until we've had a chance to test. I'll
have to get a scratch disk for testing anyway.

Cheers,

Michael

Bug#840896: audit FTCBFS: Build-Depends on host architecture python

When cross building audit in a non-boottrap setting (i.e. not #840262),
the build fails because it requests the host architecture python, which
can neither be installed nor executed. The attached patch fixes these
dependencies and produces a working cross build (including python

Bug#840895: libieee1284 FTCBFS: unsatisfiable cross Build-Depends, uses build architecture tools

Source: libieee1284
Version: 0.2.11-12

libieee1284 fails to cross build from source for a number of reasons.
Foremost is that its python-all-dev build dependency will request a host
architecture python which can neither be installed nor executed. Then
the ./configure invocations are lacking --host flags and finally
stripping with the build architecture strip fails. All of these issues
are fixed by the attached patch. Please consider applying it.

the ioctl there is TIOCGETA (type 0x74, number 0x13) and it is reading
0x2c = 44 bytes (struct termios) to a stack variable, for fd 0x1
(stdout).

That part looks okay; the segfault happens sometime after it.

The only code that would seem to use that ioctl is os_unix.c's
mch_settmode() which normally does a tcgetattr followed by a tcsetattr.
This is a wild guess, but maybe the segfault is in that function?
(HAVE_TERMIOS_H is defined here on kfreebsd-i386).

Nothing here seems related to large file support, though. Are you sure
the crashed triggered by large file support is really the same issue?
(Does the end of the ktrace look like the above?)

I'd like to do that - but how? I have no idea about all these things.
Any hint?

Bug#840883: Please work around gnupg agents

2016-10-15 Thread Roger Leigh

On 15/10/2016 19:47, Ian Jackson wrote:

If some program is run within an schroot which invokes gpg (for

suite currently fails for this reason when run with adt-virt-schroot
specifying an lvm snapshot sid chroot.

(See #840669 for more details.)

I suggest that schroot ought to kill gpg-agents when tearing down the
chroot. On my own computer I have done this with the attached script,
which might serve as a starting point.

I suspect that this script is not quite what is needed. Things which
are perhaps wrong with it:
 * It always prints output (good for me to help debug this problem,
but not good for a default shipped with schroot)
 * I am not sure whether the --exec test will DTRT. ISTM that it
will almost certainly do a wrong thing for tarball chroots, but
it's probably right for lvm snapshot ones (or any other that has
its own separately mounted /usr filesystem).
 * Other things I haven't thought of.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the script.

However, I wonder why the existing killprocs script isn't finding and
killing the agent on session end. It should take care of any processes
running inside the chroot whether or not they are daemons.

Roger

That seems to not be the issue. It is just testing if lseeko() is
declared already, without explicitly asking for -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE.
The result on both kfreebsd and linux is that it is not needed to use
-D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE at all.

So the linux arches already build option.c with -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE and
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64, and most other sources without. I wonder what
are the implications. -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 has some effects on 32-bit
arches, but not on 64-bit where relevant types are 64 bits long anyway.

Thanks. I just happened to be in the situation that I'm writing a guide
how to set up a minimal Debian/m68k system on ARAnyM from scratch.

Correct. I created an empty image, mapped it to /dev/loop0 using losetup
and ran my patched version of parted to create an Atari partition table
plus two partitions for the system and swap.

In ARAnyM, I had to enable byte-swapping as otherwise the partitions
were not recognized.

Wouldn't ARAnyM or a real Atari write the data byte-swapped to the
disk anyway? I would expect that parted just uses the host order
which is why I had to byte-swap the disk image when using it in
ARAnyM. But I think we could add the byte-swapping later if
necessary.

Ok, good to know.

I agree.

I think this works rather well for me. You took the include change,
which is more relevant for me. rebootstrap automatically adds any
architectures that are missing from all libc*_archs to libc6_archs, so
there is nothing for me to maintain here. I probably won't even notice
when you apply it.

I hope it is ok for you to simply wait until dak has a sufficiently
recent dpkg and then add it. Bringing up full tilegx will take a while
anyway. Next up will be sending a patch for libatomic-ops.

Thanks for your support here.

Bug#840892: apr-util has unsatisfiable cross Build-Depends

Source: apr-util
Version: 1.5.4-2
Severity: minor
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap
Control: affects 794103 + src:apr-util

apr-util cannot satisfy its cross Build-Depends:
 * The host architecture binutils is requested, but it conflicts with
the build architecture binutils, which is requested by
build-essential. Since build-essential already ensures availability
of binutils for both architectures, we can simply drop it.
 * The host architecture python is requested, but it can neither be
installed nor executed. As it is really used as a build tool,
   annotate its dependency with :any.

After applying the attached patch, apr-util still fails to cross build
from source, because it is affected by #794103.

Did you write the table on the host and then had to byte swap to get it
read in ARAnyM?

Just checked - Atari byte order disk image files of IDE disks don't need
byte swapping. Host native byte order ones do, that suggests your
partition table is in host native order. To get it to work in ARAnyM out
of the box, and more importantly on real hardware the partition table
would need to be written to the disk image with byte swapping.

Note that SCSI disks don't need byte swapping so if you want to support
both targets, libparted would need a byte swap option ...

Unfortunately this is not enough. Recent dak versions check that the
architecture is known by dpkg, and ftp-master.debian.org is using
jessie. If we add tilegx to the Architecture: list, the source package
will then get rejected.

Please see #835851. Until this is solved or until ftp-master.debian.org
is fixed, you will have to maintain the patch on your side.

Description-en: GNU a2ps - 'Anything to PostScript' converter and pretty-printer
GNU a2ps converts files into PostScript for printing or viewing. It uses a
nice default format, usually two pages on each physical page, borders
surrounding pages, headers with useful information (page number, printing
date, file name or supplied header), line numbering, symbol substitution
as well as pretty printing for a wide range of programming languages.
 .
Historically, a2ps started as a text to PostScript converter, but thanks
to powerful delegations it is able to let you use it for any kind of files,
ie it can also digest manual pages, dvi files, texinfo,
 .
Among the other most noticeable features of a2ps are:
  - various encodings (all the Latins and others),
  - various fonts (automatic font downloading),
  - various medias,
  - various printer interfaces,
  - various output styles,
  - various programming languages,
  - various helping applications,
  - and various spoken languages.

Dear maintainer,

as noted here [1], two CVEs CVE-2016-4491 CVE-2016-6131 were
not were not fixed by a previous upload, because upstream
did not include the corresponding patches.

I have prepared a patch, which will be attached in the next mail.

Bug#840891: apr FTCBFS: wrong architecture python, fails to execute gen_test_char

2016-10-15 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: apr
Version: 1.5.2-4
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

apr fails to cross build from source for two reasons.
 * It Build-Depends on python, thus selecting the host architecture
python, which cannot be installed nor executed. Since python is only
used as a build tool, we really want the build architecture python
   here.
 * It compiles gen_test_char with the host architecture compiler and
then executes it. The tool needs to be built with the build
architecture compiler to be able to run it.

The attached patch fixes both issues. Please consider applying it.

Bug#840883: Please work around gnupg agents

2016-10-15 Thread Ian Jackson
Package: schroot
Version: 1.6.10-2

Modern gnupg (gnupg2) has a gpg program which automatically starts a
gpg-agent, which may then live on for some time.

If some program is run within an schroot which invokes gpg (for
example, as part of a package build, or a DEP-8 test suite), schroot
can fail to tear the chroot down. As an example, dgit's DEP-8 test
suite currently fails for this reason when run with adt-virt-schroot
specifying an lvm snapshot sid chroot.

 * Other things I haven't thought of.

Thanks,
Ian.

A while ago this machine was installed with testing.

A few days ago I was informed to upgrade postgresql. This worked
flawlessly in previous versions of Debian.

Now I drop the default main in 9.6, i.e.

Now I do the update as prescribe in the upgrade notice:
root@samd:~# pg_upgradecluster 9.5 main

operation
pg_ctl: Server fährt nicht herunter

It seems /usr/include//arch is something tilegx specific, so it
means it will create a dead symlink on other architectures. Not sure
it will cause any arm, but it's not very nice.

Anyway don't need to submit a new patch, I think it's time to rewrite
this part of code with a for loop instead of adding many more similar
lines. I'll work on that.

Otherwise the patch looks fine to me.

The outdated libhmsbeagle binary packages are from 2.1.2+20150609-1.1,
predating the use of libpoclu-dev (since 2.1.2+20151220-1).
So libhmsbeagle never built successfully with libpoclu-dev on more
architectures than currently (i.e. only on amd64).

While theoretically pocl could be available on all architectures (that
support CPUs), that doesn't work right now and I don't know if anyone is
working on fixing this.

Or just restrict the use of OpenCL to the architectures that have pocl?

Bug#840881: xserver-xorg-video-vmware: Please announce supported hardware using AppStream

Package: xserver-xorg-video-vmware

Hi.

The xserver-xorg-video-vmware package is one of the packages in the
Debian archive that should be proposed for installation when a given
hardware dongle is inserted or available. Thanks to the appstream
system, this can now be announced in a way other tools can use and act
on. I've written the isenkram system to ask the current user if
hardware specific packages should be installed when a new dongle is
installed or already present on a machine, and isenkram now uses
appstream as one source for hardware to package mappings.

You can read more about this on my blog,
http://people.skolelinux.org/pere/blog/Using_appstream_with_isenkram_to_install_hardware_related_packages_in_Debian.html

Instructions on how to create the metadata XML file can be found in

It would be great if you could add an appstream metainfo file to the
xserver-xorg-video-vmware package, with content similar to this:

   [...]

dmi:*:svnVMWare*:*

This should suggest xserver-xorg-video-vmware when DMI report that the
machine is a VMWare virtual machine.

If there are other hardware ids or kernel modules also supported by the
package, please add those too. :)

I am not seeing the issue any more. But then, in its current form in 3.22.0, I
can't really verify it.

In previous version (3.18) where I reported it, it was able to render epub
format. Now (3.22), it doesn't really render anything at all. Just blank pages.

If you have further interest in Books, you may look at my other bug report [1],
for some additional context.

But, for the sole symptom of this bug report, yes, it is no more reproducible
with 3.22.

PS: As mentioned in the referenced bug report, it is odd that GNOME Docs renders
pdf and other documents well, whereas Books does not.

Even in Linux architectures (amd64 and armhf for example) Perl
advertises -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE as a necessary compiler flag:

$ perl -MExtUtils::Embed -e ccopts
 -D_REENTRANT -D_GNU_SOURCE -DDEBIAN -fwrapv -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe
-I/usr/local/include -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.20/CORE

According to feature_test_macros(7) it should not be necessary and is
now discouraged; but it reads like _LARGEFILE_SOURCE should be defined
by default anyway. Maybe that is the issue we have on kfreebsd-i386.

Thanks, I did miscompile vim-gtk before and came to the wrong
conclusion about -fwrapv

> Which begs the question, why does configure think the defines aren't

By default in , unless something else is requested, we will
define:

| # define _POSIX_C_SOURCE200809L
| # define __USE_XOPEN2K 1

and that means from we will get fseeko(), but *not*
__USE_LARGEFILE or __USE_LARGEFILE64:

| #if defined __USE_LARGEFILE || defined __USE_XOPEN2K
| # ifndef __USE_FILE_OFFSET64
[...]
| extern int fseeko (FILE *__stream, __off_t __off, int __whence);

and so vim's configure testcase will pass:

| $as_echo_n "checking for _LARGEFILE_SOURCE value needed for large files... "
>&6; }
| if ${ac_cv_sys_largefile_source+:} false; then :
| $as_echo_n "(cached) " >&6
| else
| while :; do
| cat confdefs.h - <<_ACEOF >conftest.$ac_ext
| /* end confdefs.h. */
| #include /* for off_t */

|   ;
|   return 0;
| }
| _ACEOF
| if ac_fn_c_try_link "$LINENO"; then :

I will try to see how the situation is different on linux-i386.
