It might be related to my custom kernel or an updated binutils version (2.21.90.20111004-2). I'd like to help further testing this issue if more information is needed. I just wanted to check back about this bug and see if you still felt like there was a problem here, or if it might be appropriate for me to close it. I just tried to install the latest version of both emacs23 and emacs23-nox flavors and they both installed without problem. I guess we can now close this bug with version 23.3+1-4. Thanks. I don't know whether those patches have any impact on this problem. What kind of patch is needed to binutils? Binutils contains the tool to generated the binaries, so if the patch changes the generated code, it means that Debian is simply not compatible with the loongson2f. I noticed the following in the binutils (2.20.1-6) changelog: * Backport fixups of Loongson2F from the trunk. Deng, does rebuilding emacs23 with the current binutils help? Bug#517407: Possible incorrect malloc_pageshift for mips
Package: tor Version: 0.2.0.34-1.1 Severity: important Tags: patch When trying to install tor on Loongson 2F yeelong laptop, which is based on mipsel architecture, the installation fails saying that malloc() replacement compiled with different page size (detailed install log attached). HelloWorld on lemote bbs provided a fix[1] that let mips arch use malloc_pageshift 14U (also attached) that makes tor successfully installed on Yeelong laptop. However, I'm not sure whether this happens on all mipsel architecture or only on the Loongson 2F platform, as you can see the kernel is customly built. It'll be great if mipsel port maintainers can help check its installability and then decide whether to include the fix. Thanks. Hello, the support for R300 cards has ended for a longer time. You should use the opensource radeon driver instead. This is not a bug because it is also stated in the packages description, that it is a driver for r5xx - r7xx cards. The release note[1] of ati driver 8-12 still lists all R300 series (including all desktop and mobility radeon 9500~9800 cards) in its supported product families. But well, the release note might be wrong as well, so it'll be helpful if link to the statement of the end of support for r3xx series can be provided, and then this bug can be closed :) [1] https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/catalyst_812_linux.pdf -- /* Mit freundlichem Gruß / With kind regards, Patrick Matthäi E-Mail: patrick.matth...@web.de Comment: Always if we think we are right, we were maybe wrong. */ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#500719: Update to mpg123 version 1.5.1
retitle 500719 New upstream release 1.6.2 thanks. To avoid interference with Lenny release, newer version can be prepared on experimental. As for the new functionality, for instance, development version of xmms2 now supports mpg123 output plugin based on libmpg123 = 1.5.1. Though there won't be new upload for development xmms2 for Lenny, users can prepare their own easier if newer mpg123 is already in Debian. Also note that 1.6.2 has been released. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#434180: Pre-approval for scim NMU
Hi Release Managers: I'd like to prepare an NMU for scim to fix bug#434180[1], which causes lock up with setting /FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic = false in various programs when using {GTK,QT}_IM_MODULE=xim. Changing that setting to true helps, but will disable support for deadkeys. The patch[2] provided by the maintainer has been tested at my place for a long enough period with no regression, and it'll be really beneficial to have this bug fixes for Lenny. So I'd like to ask for approval to upload from Release Managers, and, as it fixes important bug, a pre-approval for Lenny freeze exception. However, the main maintainer Ming Hua seems quite busy these days, and my last followup[3] to the bug CCing Osamu several weeks ago hasn't be replied. So, though the package is not listed in LowNMU list, I'd also like to ask Release Team for the permission to prepare an NMU. CCing Ming Hua and Osamu Aoki in case it can got their attention. Thanks. The patch is specific to scim and shouldn't break reverse dependent packages, at least not the ones I use (e.g. scim-pinyin). Does this patch used in upstream VCS or distribued in other distro (ubuntu? redhat?). How is the BTS on their sites? It seems to discard keyboad queue. I have no idea what impacts it causes. It is high risk unless it is tested widly. Unless you have facts to support goodness of this patch on several popular platforms of SCIM (not just one chinese IM), how can we be sure this does not break things. I was expecting a bit more testing etc. from you. Indeed. The really problem resides in libX11, and the libX11 patch in the same bug report is the real fix. The one I mentioned is just a workaround in scim side. See below. As I reread your bug report, massive tab is the case you expeienced input locking. Is this SCIM problem? Are you sure? Did you make some analysys using GDB to prove it? I have sort-of freeze situation sometimes but that is when I have keyboard accessibility enabler capability via keyboard option set. Of course by discarding input queue, system will not cause such problem but that is not right thing to do. Just unclick gnome option for that or carefully shrink windows to find prompt from accessibility program and disable its activation. (I know it was annoying ...) As I also see that libX11 issue. It has been updated since then. Do you know the situation? Sorry for this, as I'm not subscribed to bug#437437, which I should, and #434180 is not blocked by it, I wasn't aware the proper fix has gone in libx11, where the really cause located. That should be sufficient for this problem. As since then, I switched to scim-immodule and scim-bridge, I haven't tried xim yet. Thanks for this information. According to my test in the last hour using unpatched scim, those common approach to reproduce the problem are invalid now. Plus the feedback in launchpad bug report, and other BTS such as fedora, I think now this bug can be reassigned to libx11 and marked as done with Source-Version: 2:1.1.4-1 As for the accessibility problem you mention, it might because the fix for libx11 side is incomplete, but I'm not the expert in this regard. I have to say that I may not be the most technical maintainer of this package thus very conservative to deviate from the upstream. The information provided is not sufficient to make last moment upload. I am open to change my mind when sufficien support facts are presented. I appreciate your precaution, and hopefully this bug has already been fixed. So please consider this mail as withdrawal of my scim NMU pre-approve request. Thanks Osamu. However you might happen to omit the sublevel3 translation update in my second mail to this bug ;) It'll be better to have this version. Thanks again. Well. Bug#498260: Pinyin module unavailable
Package: scim-python Version: 0.1.12-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 It seems scim-python was built with pinyin disabled, which makes this package completely useless. It is known that the building of pinyin module will result in downloading a word db which might be problematic to license issue, but it's better to have a switch to disable building this wordlist instead of creating an eunuch ;) Though IMHO the justification for RC bug is sufficient, feel free to downgrade it if the situation is not going to change in the nearing future. - -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (300, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages scim-python depends on: ii python-scim 0.1.12-1 Python language binding for SCIM scim-python recommends no packages. scim-python suggests no packages. - -- no debconf information -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkjFN7kACgkQvfS9XUIPMAlGmgCfYtYJMIuaqDGBBkBjUZ9xWbCL 1CAAnRrYp4br+7cYxD+scQ5nUup+bdZ5 =Im/D -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#494816: Patch to fix the Yes/No confirmation messages issue in ja.po
在 2008-08-31日的 17:02 -0700,Daniel Burrows写道: On Sun, Aug 31, 2008 at 07:13:51PM +0900, Noritada Kobayashi [EMAIL PROTECTED] was heard to say: unmerge 494816 tags 494816 + patch thanks Hi, This is a patch to fix ja.po in the second way that Kenshi Muto suggested. #475802 should be separately fixed (in lenny+1) and I'll provide a trial patch separately. Could you please find and apply the attachment? I've applied this patch to the head branch as-is. We might want to make a few more changes, as I noted in my last mail. Also, what's the situation for other languages? I guess that at least Chinese suffers from this problem; I'll Cc the most recent Chinese translators for aptitude. What about other non-ASCII locales? Korean? Thai? Khmer? I have no clue. Would it make sense to always recognize Yes (untranslated) as a fallback? This is a little ugly (since it's not advertised that yes is available), but it would at least let users proceed if they're in this situation. I think this was suggested in one of the earlier mails in this thread. IMHO, such a fallback is really beneficial for usability, while allow users to use translated strings as well. As for the ugliness, I think appending a (Yes), (No), (Yes, I am aware that this is a very bad idea) to the original string without exposing them to .po files makes them explicit, and hence less ugly. Bug#481134: libpoppler does not use cmap files from xpdf-{japanese,...}, and fails to parse Japanese PDF files.

The fix would probably be simple. It should probably be hardlinks rather than symlinks considering dpkg behavior wrt symlinked dirs. You can't hardlink directories though, so we might as well symlink the individual files. I'd like this fix included in lenny so that we don't see a regression in Debian for Japanese users. There was a package in the NEW queue 'poppler-data' which should really have fixed this bug. http://ftp-master.debian.org/new/poppler-data_0.2.0-1.html That going into Debian sid would fix this bug also, but not quite sure if it's reasonable to expect a new package to enter Debian lenny. I kinda think it's in poppler's domain to fix this; logically xpdf-japanese (etc) exists only to enhance xpdf. poppler-data appears to be a good solution. 1. poppler was theoretically self-contained, poppler-data was REJECTed once and not yet part of non-free as of today. 2. Japanese users upgrading from etch would have xpdf-japanese installed because evince (poppler) needed and used xpdf-japanese, and natural upgrade path would be xpdf-japanese supporting poppler. These factors make adding support in poppler somewhat reasonable. If the release managers would approve an update to xpdf-japanese I am happy to upload a new version including your patch, or for you to NMU the package. Which means the same should be done in xpdf-{chinese-{simplified,tranditional},korean} as well, and all will be unnecessary once poppler-data get accepted. I kind of think that's not a good way to deal with it. But well, just my 2 cents. -- Regards, Deng Xiyue, a.k.a. manphiz -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#487348: GPG Key changed for Deng Xiyue
Subject: GPG Key changed for Deng Xiyue Package: debian-maintainers Version: 1.36 Severity: important Hi debian-maintainers administrators: Due to a mistake of my backup script during a recent system backup, all my ~/.* are lost, including my private key of my original gpg key, except my revocation certification survived because it's backed up at another place not affected. That is quite unfortunate, and as the large amount of restored data, I doubted the key would survive, so I gave up trying to restore it. Then immediately I revoked my old key, and then regenerated a new one, and contacted my local DD Anthony Fok(CCed) to resign it after a face-to-face reidentification. Though it's really bad to lost the private key of gpg key, it is assured the original key is not compromised, just lost forever. I'm sorry for such event, and will take more efforts to prevent it from happening again. So DM admins, please replace my original key[1] with my new key[2]. Thanks. If you'd rather than I didn't CC/ping you at all, please say? It has nothing to do with the daemon or the monolithic, what is your locale? Also, are you trying to download to a vfat partition? Ooh, right on spot. On Debian systems amuled gets started via a normal init.d script, and those don't have the configured $LANG set. So, I guess I'll just have to do something so that LANG is set to an appropriate value, no? FWIW, this problem doesn't show on 2.1.3 with same configuration and same file. Bug#475740: Simplified Chinese translation update

Please incorporate it in the next aptitude update. (sorry, Jens, taking this one as I saw it arrived and wanted o notify the translator ASAP) Your translation has bee synced with the development repository. However, last changes happened in the meantime. They should be the latest before lenny, so you might want to complete the file and we give you a good promise that it won't change anymore (except for very very good reasons). New file attached. Thanks for notifying me about this. But it seems the newly generated template has many unnecessary broken sentences that makes translation almost unachievable. Bug#475802: Possible i18n usability deficiency in Yes/No translation
Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.11.2-1 Severity: wishlist One of my friend Hou Zhengpeng(CCing him) has found that aptitude uses translated string as result for comparison, which might be a problem for asia users who use their localization but doesn't install an input method. Take the following code excerpts as example: ---8-- const string okstr=_(Yes), abortstr=_(No); ... const bool is_ok=(strncasecmp(okstr.c_str(), buf, okstr.size())==0); const bool is_abort=(strncasecmp(abortstr.c_str(), buf, abortstr.size())==0); ---8-- For Chinese user, Yes will be translated to 是, which will be used for the is_ok comparison. Meanwhile, 是 will not be able to input when input method is unavailable, which in turn isn't installed by default install settings. This is quite a dilemma for users using non-en_US based locales, especially CJK-based locales. I'd propose such usage to be changed to a letter-based comparison, as Y for Yes and N for No or something like that. -- Package-specific info: aptitude 0.4.11.2 compiled at Apr 12 2008 04:21:26 Compiler: g++ 4.2.3 (Debian 4.2.3-3) Compiled against: apt version 4.6.0 NCurses version 5.6 libsigc++ version: 2.0.18 Ept support enabled. Could you please update the Debian package? Seconded--I've been building my own boost packages for a while to get Boost.Asio, which has been included in the mainline Boost distribution as of 1.35.0. It'll be great to stop building my own and just use Debian's :) If you guys need some help, I can try updating the packaging for 1.35. Help would be most welcome! Packaging is not the issue, however. I think I can do that over the weekend. The real issue is whether it can be uploaded this close to a freeze; for example, does it break any existing reverse dependencies? c.f. http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2008/03/msg00930.html So, assuming I can produce the packages, what would help is to have volunteers to test build all the things that build-depend on boost.
