Bug#1070184: Acknowledgement (gnome-maps: Unable to start gnome-maps)

2024-05-21 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia Dabo
I see that gnome-maps is now in version 46.11 in testing. I have tried
that version and the bug is now fixed.

So as far as I am concern this bug can be closed.

Thank you!

Bug#1070184: gnome-maps: Unable to start gnome-maps

2024-05-01 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: gnome-maps
Version: 46.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I have recently upgraded my Debian testing and it comes with gnome-46.0-1. I am
using XFCE 4 desktop and when I try to start gnome-maps nothing happens. From
the command line nothing happens, it seems like frozen and after exactly 10
seconds the prompt returns but no window has appeared.

Bug#1038952: debsecan: Change also the default to the installed release

2024-04-12 Thread Enrique
Package: debsecan
Version: 0.4.20.1
Followup-For: Bug #1038952
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Hi,

in addition to adding support for newer suites I think it would make sense to
default to the suite from which this package has been installed, if that's
possible.

The problem I see with the current behaviour is that you get an email with an
awful long list of CVEs which are not relevant to the current installation.
That can easily lead to users ignoring the list completely or removing this
package. I was actually going to do that when I realized that it is possible to
have some reasonable settings. If you manage a handful of machines it would be
beneficial if the default installation has a useful configuration.

Bug#1068413: python3-wilderness: Warning while installing with apt

2024-04-04 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: python3-wilderness
Version: 0.1.10-1
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

While installing the apt python3-wilderness with apt (actually as part of some
other package dependency) I saw the following warning:

Configuring python3-wilderness (0.1.10-1) ...
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/wilderness/manpages.py:146: SyntaxWarning:
invalid escape sequence '\ '
  """Format a text line for use in manpages
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/wilderness/manpages.py:173: SyntaxWarning:
invalid escape sequence '\ '
  match = re.match("^\ ?\d+\.\ ", line)

Probably it is not very important, but since I have never seen such code
warnings while installing with apt I thought it was useful to report it.

Bug#1060232: calamares: Installing in an LVM volume renders installation unusable

2024-01-07 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: calamares
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I have tried to use the calamares based installer from the ISO image debian-
live-12.4.0-amd64-xfce.iso and selected a LVM volume to make the installation.
That volume was there before the installation started. I realized that the
installer didn't offer a way to configure the volumes (at least it wasn't
obvious to me) but I could anyway proceed with the installation selecting the
existing volume. The installation went fine but when I rebooted the system I
ended up with an unbootable system because the initrd didn't have support for
LVM.

Bug#1060231: calamares: launching the installer from live image XFCE ISO shows a message about unstrusted application

2024-01-07 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: calamares
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I have used the debian-live-12.4.0-amd64-xfce.iso image to try a live Debian
system with XFCE. I then launched the installer icon and a somehow scary
message shows up:

"Untrusted application launcher

The desktop file "install-debian.desktop" is in an insecure location and not
marked as executable. If you do not trust this program click Cancel.

Exec=install-debian"

I clicked in "Launch Anyway" and thinks worked fine, but I guess someone else
might be deterred from installing Debian due to the somehow scary message.

Bug#1060230: amdgpu: screen goess black for a few seconds and after it goes back again the WM is unresponsive

2024-01-07 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: src:linux

I have installed 6.5.0-0.deb12.4-amd64 kernel packae from backports bookworm to
better support my AMD Radeon 780M iGPU. For a few seconds the screen went
completely black and the computer was unresponsive. After that the screen
showed again the desktop, I could move the mouse but clicking on windows and
typing with the keyboard didn't have any effect. I am using XFCE4 desktop and
at the moment this happened I was using my laptop screen (2880x1800) and a Dell
external monitor with resolution 2560x1440.

Bug#756017: dependencies

2023-11-03 Thread Enrique García

I would really like to see bokeh packaged for Debian.

FWIW, I have run npm2deb on bokehjs to see which node packages are
missing in Debian. Here is the output:

$ npm2deb depends -b -r bokehjs

Dependencies:
NPM   Debian

└─ underscore.template (^0.1.7)   None

So basically 8 out 18 node dependencies are missing. From those ones
slickgrid and hemmerjs seem like big ones, the rest maybe not so much,
but of course nobody knows until it is tried out.

Also, trying to check which are the python dependencies, I tried to
create a venv using the system packages and this is what I get:

$ python3 -m venv --system-site-packages my_env

$ . ./my_env/bin/activate

(my_env) $ pip install bokeh

Which seems to indicate that all the python dependencies are already in

bokeh, but from a cursory look at the bokeh sources I could not find it.

Bug#1030779: Also broken in sid

BTW, this is also broken Debian sid. In that case the installed
starlette is 0.31 but fastapi 0.101.0 requires
starlette<0.28.0,>=0.27.0. It would be nice to fix this before Ubuntu
24.04 picks up this problem.

2023-10-18 Thread Enrique García
An update on this after bookworm is already out: it seems that this is
still broken but in a slightly different variant.

The version of fastapi shipped now is 0.92, whereas the starlette
version is 0.26.1. The metadata for fastpi has a requirement that is not
satisfied:

$ grep starlette
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/fastapi-0.92.0.dist-info/METADATA

Requires-Dist: starlette<0.26.0,>=0.25.0

Using a minimal LXD container I could reproduce the issue by installing
a package with pip that depends only on fastapi:

$ apt install python3-fastapi python3-pip python3-venv

$ python3 -m venv --system-site-packages test_venv

$ . ./test_venv/bin/activate

$ pip install fastapi-restful-extension

So pip recognizes that the situation is inconsistent. As before, pip
check would complain:

$ pip check
fastapi 0.92.0 has requirement starlette<0.26.0,>=0.25.0, but you have
starlette 0.26.1.

I am not sure which should be the best course of action. I can think of
two possible options:

- Relax the constrain in the metadata to allow also starlette <=0.26.1.
This might be a bit hacky, but it seems that the shipped starlette
0.26.1 is actually working fine with the shipped fastapi 0.92, at least
from a test I did with one small application that uses fastapi.

- Update the fastapi version to 0.94. This one introduces support for
starlette >=0.26.0. I have also tested the combination of 0.94 installed
from pip with starlette 0.26.1 from the bookworm repository and it seems
to work.

Bug#1041079: python-pip-whl: python3 venv creates a virtual environment with an old version of setuptools

2023-07-14 Thread Enrique
Package: python-pip-whl
Version: 20.3.4-4+deb11u1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Dear Maintainer,

I have been using python3 -m venv --system-site-packages my_venv in several
distributions and
in all cases the virtual environment contains a minimal python installation
which uses the
system python with a pip and setuptools package that matches the version of the
sytem.

However in Debian 11 doing that ends up with a version of setuptools which is
different and
older than the system one:

$  dpkg -l python3-setuptools
ii  python3-setuptools 52.0.0-4 all  Python3 Distutils Enhancements
$ pip list | grep setuptools
setuptools   52.0.0
$ python3 -m venv --system-site-packages my_venv
$ . ./my_venv/bin/activate
pip list | grep setuptools
setuptools   44.1.1

It seems that this is due to the too-old wheel provided by the python-pip-whl
package:
$ ls /usr/share/python-wheels/setuptools-44.1.1-py2.py3-none-any.whl

I am not sure whether it is guaranteed to be like that, but my expectation is
that the pip and setuptools versions int the venv matches the system ones.

Thank you!

Package: neochat

Dear Maintainer,

It seems that neochat is not working with E2EE encrypted chats. There is a
message at the typing prompt which reads:

"This room is encrypted. Build libQuotient with encryption enabled to send
encrypted messages".

It would be great of neochat adds support for that.

Thank you!

Bug#1039037: chromium does not start under xfce4

Package: chromium

I have freshly installed Debian 12 Bookworm and under my newly created user

propmpt being returned. I then have to kill the running chromium processes.
I have tried to run it with the -g option, which runs it under gdb and a few
messages appear, although I am not sure whether they are related to the issue
or not:

Hi,

it looks to me as this is a similar symptom to

If so, then the fix has been merged:

The fix is part of the recent release 4.2.0

so it would be great to get that fixed for bookworm.

Looking into the logs I can see that the problem started to appear when I
upgraded my system to testing last August. The kernel that was installed was
linux-image-5.18.0-3-amd64:amd64 (5.18.14-1, automatic) according to apt logs.
Since then the kernel has been upgraded to the 6 series but the problem
persists.
The flickering happens every couple of seconds, which makes it inconvenient to
work with the virtual console.

Bug#1033354: High CPU usage makes xfce4-panel irresponsive

2023-03-23 Thread Enrique
Package: xfce4-panel
Version: 4.18.2-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Since a few weeks, when xfce4-panel was upgraded to 4.18.2-1 (or at least I
don't remember seeing that before), I ocasionally get an irresponsive panel
apparently due to high CPU usage. If I click on anything in the panel nothing
happens until several minutes later.
I have attached a debugger and this is the stak trace I got, in case that might
be useful:

As a workaround, issuing xfce4-panel -r in a terminal seems to eventually
restart the panel and normal behaviour is restored. Although that also takes
several minutes to take effect.

2023-03-02 Thread Enrique
Package: akonadi-backend-mysql

Bug#1031923: d-i.debian.org: testing (bookworm): Unable to boot due to unsupported FEATURE_C12 in e2fsck

2023-02-27 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia Dabo

Thank you for the answer. Good to know that it is a known issue and is
being taken care of.

Regarding why I took that image. I just followed the official Debian
webpages:

https://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/index.en.html

From there I clicked on "Official CD/DVD images of the "testing"
distribution (/regenerated weekly/)
<https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/>"

https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/ -> amd64 -> iso-cd ->
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso

So from my perspective I wasn't using a "random" image, but rather an
official one, as the web pages indicate.

Best regards,

Hi,

Andrew, please use reply-all, to reply to the bug and to the bug
submitter. A list-only reply doesn't quite help…

Andrew M.A. Cater  (2023-02-25):

I have installed Debian testing (bookworm) from one of the latest ISO images
(https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-
amd64-netinst.iso from 2023-02-21) and after an apparently succesfull
installation the system cannot be booted.

Enrique, thanks for the report.

We've published an official release one week ago. I'm not sure why
you're not using that instead of a random weekly build.

This is a known issue - try using the Alpha 2 installer in which this
issue is not present.

The e2fsprogs mismatch with grub is likely to be fixed by reverting
problematic versions.

No, the problem here is that e2fsck is from testing, while the
filesystem has been created by mke2fs from unstable, and the former
doesn't know about a new feature turned on by the latter.

Cheers,

Bug#1031923: d-i.debian.org: testing (bookworm): Unable to boot due to unsupported FEATURE_C12 in e2fsck

2023-02-25 Thread Enrique Garcia

amd64-netinst.iso from 2023-02-21) and after an apparently succesfull
installation the system cannot be booted.

The screen shows this message when trying to boot:

And after that a BusyBox prompt is offered. I have tried several times the
installation all of them with the same result. Installing Debian bullseye
proceeded without errors in the same system.

Bug#1030779: python3-fastapi has a metadata dependency on starlette=0.22.0, while Debian bookworm ships 0.23.1

2023-02-07 Thread Enrique
Package: python3-fastapi
Version: 0.89.1-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

The python3-fastapi debian package on bookworm can be installed and the debian
package dependency is python3-starlette (>= 0.22.0) which is all good.
However, when I try to install a package with pip in a virtual environment
which has fastapi as a dependency I get the following:

Requirement already satisfied: matplotlib in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages
(from adari-core==0.0.11) (3.6.3)
Requirement already satisfied: fastapi in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages (from

Requirement already satisfied: anyio<5,>=3.4.0 in /usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages (from starlette==0.22.0->fastapi->adari-core==0.0.11) (3.6.2)

 Note that this is venv with --system-site-packages option, so it should be
using the installed packages. It looks like fastapi pip metadata requires
starlette==0.22.0, and hence the python3-starlette package installed with apt
(which is 0.23.1-1 in bookworm) does not satisfy that and it needs to install
it in the venv.

 I believe the problem lies within file /usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages/fastapi-0.89.1.dist-info/METADATA:
...
Requires-Dist: starlette==0.22.0
...

I guess relaxing that to higher than 0.22 would make pip happy and there is no
need then to install a local version of starlette.

Bug#1006500: Missing bnx2x firmware 7.13.21.0 renders NIC unusable with Linux 5.16

2022-11-25 Thread Enrique
Package: firmware-bnx2x
Version: 20210315-3
Followup-For: Bug #1006500
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I have this problem when installing a server using the netinst ISO image. I
then tried with the firmware image from here
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-
firmware/11.5.0+nonfree/amd64/iso-cd/ but it does not work because it ships
with version 20210315-3, which does not contain bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.13.21.0.fw,
which the installer insists on installing.

I workarounded the issue repackaging the ISO image adding version 20221109-2
from bookworm and then it finally worked.

It would be good if that version of the firmware is included in bullseye and
added to the (unofficial) firmware CD.

According to documentation in /usr/share/doc/lxd/remotes.md, the file

it seems as this file would be ignored.
The file seems to be correct, since the following workarounds do work:

Bug#1021381: python3-setuptools cannot install some pip packages in bullseye

2022-10-07 Thread Enrique
Package: python3-setuptools
Version: 52.0.0-4
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Dear Maintainer,

I am trying to install a python package (cerberus) using pip. However it fails
with a PEP 517 error.

In a clean Debian Bullseye container I did the following:

# apt install python3-build python3-venv python3-pip
# python3 -m venv --system-site-packages my_virtenv
# . ./my_virtenv/bin/activate
# pip install cerberus

File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/setuptools/_distutils/cmd.py", line
103, in __getattr__
  raise AttributeError(attr)

  AttributeError: install_layout

  ERROR: Failed building wheel for cerberus
Failed to build cerberus
ERROR: Could not build wheels for cerberus which use PEP 517 and cannot be
installed directly

It is worth noting that without the virtual environment the installation works.
So maybe the bug is not in setuptools (which is where the trace comes from) but
in python3-venv.

Bug#1020250: hugo does not depend on golang package

2022-09-18 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: hugo
Version: 0.102.3-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I have tried to install the hugo website creator but as soon as I run "hugo" it
complains with the following message:

Error: failed to download modules: exec: "go": executable file not found in
$PATH

Installing package "golang" solved the issue. Looks like according to the
package page https://packages.debian.org/sid/hugo the hugo package suggest
golang-any. However, when typing apt install hugo I don´t see that suggestion.
Moreover, I think that a full dependency would be better, because hugo does not
work if go is not installed (AFAIK)

I have tracked it a bit more using the git code of bind9 under
https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9. It seems that in the v9_16_22
branch the problem started to happen with this commit:

* commit ef1d909fa96479e6c4832e2e76f3ce3912cab930

Bug#1000793: bind9-dnsutils: dig command fails with "`fd > STDERR_FILENO' failed" when run from a XFCE4 desktop applet

2021-11-29 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia

Hi,

thanks for looking into this!

It might be that the source of the problem is in xfce-plugin-genmon, but
I traced down when this started to fail: it was after an upgrade from
bind9-libs 1:9.16.15-1 to 1:9.16.22-1~deb11u1. So something in that
upgrade changed the behavior in dig.

Bug#1000793: bind9-dnsutils: dig command fails with "`fd > STDERR_FILENO' failed" when run from a XFCE4 desktop applet

2021-11-28 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: bind9-dnsutils
Version: 1:9.16.22-1~deb11u1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

I am experiencing a weird bug in which the dig command fails when run as part
of a shell script executed inside the XFCE4 "Generic monitor" plugin. The error
message is:

dig: ./src/unix/core.c:570: uv__close: Assertion `fd > STDERR_FILENO' failed.
Aborted

It looks like something doesn't like that the stdout or stderr is not managed
by the terminal.
The command I am running is:

dig @resolver4.opendns.com myip.opendns.com +short -4

As a way to reproduce it: add the "Generic monitor" plugin to a xfce4 panel and
in the properties set the command to the one above.

Is I run the command in the terminal then everything is fine.

Bug#988762: matrix-mirage: Upgrade to version 0.7.0 or higher

2021-05-19 Thread Enrique
Package: matrix-mirage
Version: 0.6.4~dfsg+~hsluv1.0.0-4
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Dear Maintainer,

The version matrix-mirage currently in testing is 0.6.4. It is a great matrix
client that works very reliable. However there is an important feature for a
messaging app that is missing: desktop notifications. This seems to be now
available in the new upstream version 0.7.0
(https://github.com/mirukana/mirage/releases/tag/v0.7.0).

It would be great to have this newer version in bullseye for a quite capable
matrix client.

I think there is one more reason to include 0.7.0 in bullseye: the
configuration has changed
(https://github.com/mirukana/mirage/blob/master/docs/CONFIG.md) and it seems
that there is no automatic migration from the old settings.json configuration
to the new one. That would probably make more difficult to have a smooth
transition in the future when matrix-mirage is upgraded in Debian, while still
being tolerable in testing.

Bug#981372: keepassxc: New upstream release 2.6.3

2021-02-18 Thread Enrique
Package: keepassxc
Version: 2.6.2+dfsg.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #981372
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Hi,

indeed it would be nice if bullseye ship a fairly recent version. One of the
problems with 2.6.2 is that most of translations are not up to date. At least
for Spanish there are quite a number of untranslated strings. However in 2.6.4
the translations seem to be complete.

Bug#980158: gnome-maps is in offline mode despite computer having network connectivity.

2021-01-15 Thread Enrique
Package: gnome-maps
Version: 3.38.2-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: cqu...@arcor.de

Dear Maintainer,

I have upgraded to Debian testing and now gnome-maps claims "Maps is offline"
despite the fact that the computer has proper network connectivity. Since
gnome-maps has a very minimal interface there is no way for me to make it work.

Note that this particular computer doesn't use NetworkManager but rather it
get's the network configuration from /etc/network/interfaces.d/50-cloud-
init.cfg

Bug#970450: akonadi-server: akonadi fails to start if the XDG variables point outside of $HOME

2020-09-16 Thread Enrique
Package: akonadi-server
Version: 4:20.04.1-2+b1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have defined my XDG variables to point outside of $HOME since this lies in an
NFS server with a small quota. The ones I have defined are XDG_CACHE_HOME,
XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME.

After I have upgraded my system to bullseye/testing akonadi cannot start,
complaining that it cannot create $XDG_DATA_HOME/akonadi (although it get's
eventually created) and that it cannot copy Akonadi.error to Akonadi.error.old.

If I remove completely file /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.akonadiserver then akonadi
seems to try to start, although then I get other mysql problems which probably
should go in a different bug :)

Bug#947009: libssh-4 v9 breaks tmate when you have a ssh config that uses a custom port

2019-12-19 Thread Alejandro Enrique Brito Monedero
Package: libssh-4
Version: 0.9.3-2
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
I have a custom ssh_config [1] that defines a not default ssh port.
When using tmate. Tmate cannot connect to ssh.tmate.io because libssh
version 9 I think doesn't parse correctly the ssh_config, it tries to use
the non default port instead of the port defined for *.io. In [2] I explain
how to reproduce the problem.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
 Comment the ssh port option in ~/.ssh/config
 Downgrade libssh to last stable version

   * What was the outcome of this action?
  Tmate worked

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
  That tmate using libssh-4 V9 worked

Bug#899261: ITP: qasm-simulator-cpp -- C++ quantum circuit simulator with realistic noise

2018-05-21 Thread Enrique de la Torre

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Enrique de la Torre <indisoluble_...@me.com>

* Package name : qasm-simulator-cpp
  Version : 0.5.1
  Upstream Author : QISKit Development Team <qis...@qiskit.org>
* URL : https://qiskit.org/
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : C++ quantum circuit simulator with realistic noise

QASM Simulator is a quantum circuit simulator written in C++
that includes a variety of realistic circuit level noise models.
The simulator may be run as a command line application to
evaluate quantum programs specified by a Quantum program OBJect
(QObj). It is part of QISKit (Quantum Information Software Kit),
developed by IBM.

The simulator is currently distributed as part of open source
QISKit Python SDK. By making it into a Debian package, I will
be able to integrate it in other frameworks like QISKit Swift
Framework. Also, if we simplify the installation process, it
will be a lot easier for other developers/researchers to use it
with different purposes.

The package is already under development here:

the stable version (2.8.18-1) and the testing version (2.8.20-1). I have tested
on another computer and the result is the same.

Bug#873884: [openssh-server] At boot time ssh is listening at port 22 rather than the one configured in sshd_config

2017-08-31 Thread Garcia Dabo Cesar Enrique
Package: openssh-server
Version: 1:7.4p1-10+deb9u1
Severity: important
Tags: security
X-Debbugs-CC: secure-testing-t...@lists.alioth.debian.org

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I have configured a server with a non-standard port using directive Port in /
etc/ssh/sshd_config, however when I restart the server it listens at port 22.
The ssh related services after rebooting look like this:

# systemctl -a | grep ssh
ssh.service
loaded inactive dead OpenBSD Secure Shell server
system-ssh.slice
loaded active active system-ssh.slice
ssh.socket
loaded active listening OpenBSD Secure Shell server socket

As a workaround, If I restart the ssh server:

# systemctl restart ssh.service

then sshd starts to listen to the configured port as it should be. The
services status look like this:

# systemctl -a | grep ssh
ssh.service
loaded active running OpenBSD Secure Shell server
system-ssh.slice
loaded active active system-ssh.slice
ssh.socket
loaded inactive dead OpenBSD Secure Shell server socket

Bug#837623: [firefox-esr] text with background in the HTML is printing without it

2017-01-25 Thread Enrique Garcia
 I found an option that allows this. In the printing pop-up window there is an
"Options" tab with a checkbox that allows printing of the background.

 I guess this ticket can be closed. Sorry for the extra noise.

Bug#836556: menu entries with no icons

2017-01-25 Thread Enrique Garcia
 After some updates in my Debian testing it looks like version 4:16.08.3-1 is
now properly setting the icon in the system tray.

 Still there might be some issues with the icons, since there are some entries
in the application menu which don't show an icon. For instance the "Delete
Wallet" entry under the "File" menu has no icon, whereas in Jessie there is a
trash icon for that.

Bug#840069: [xfce4-panel] After locking screen with the xfce4-panel action plugins the keyboard stops working

2016-10-07 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: xfce4-panel
Version: 4.12.0-4
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

 I found a strange behaviour of use the lock screen button from the
actions plugin:

 1) I click the lock screen button
 2) The light-dm greeter appears and I can enter my username and
password
 3) My window session is recovered but if a type something in the keyboard
nothing happens.
 4) The mouse can still be moved around
 5) Eventually, after killing the window that had the focus last time the
keyboard works again.

 It looks like it is reproducible every time.

Bug#836556: [kwalletmanager] systray icon for kwalletmanager is missing under XFCE

2016-09-03 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: kwalletmanager
Version: 4:16.04.2-1
Severity: important

 The current version of kwalletmanager in testing shows an empty icon in the
system tray of XFCE. Additionally, the list of wallets in the main application
window also doesn't have any icons, so it is not possible to know whether the
wallets are open or not.

 I have tried to change the icon theme both in the KDE settings and XFCE
settings but it doesn't seem to make a difference, no matter which icon theme
is chosen.

 In the standard error the following message appears:
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set

Bug#832513: [nfs-common] nfs-idmapd.service fails unless package is installed nfs-kernel-server

2016-07-26 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: nfs-common
Version: 1:1.2.8-9.1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

 I am trying to mount a NFSv4 mount on a Debian client using the UID/GID
mapping provided by rpc.idmapd. If I install nfs-common the systemd service
nfs-idmapd.service is available, but if I try to start I get the following
error:

 # systemctl restart nfs-idmapd.service
Failed to restart nfs-idmapd.service: Unit nfs-server.service not found.

 /etc/idmapd.conf is properly configured (the same configuration works in a
Fedora 24 client) but still the UID mapping is wrong when mounting the nfs
share.

 If I install package nfs-kernel-server then I can restart nfs-idmapd and the
UID mapping works correctly.

 For a reference, there was a bug report on Ubuntu with a similar issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-utils/+bug/1428961

 Regards,
 Enrique

Bug#827785: [apt] apt changelog subcommand is not documented

2016-06-20 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: apt
Version: 1.2.13
Severity: minor

 The "apt changelog" subcommand is not documented in "man apt". I just found
its existence by chance and it is indeed very useful.

Bug#823885: [parley] Download new collections dialog fails

2016-05-09 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: parley
Version: 4:15.08.3-1
Severity: normal

 The "Download new collections" dialog reports an error.
 Instead of displaying the list of available vocabularies there is an error
message at the bottom reporting that "Loading of providers from file:
http://edu.kde.org/parley/newstuff/providers44.xml failed"

 This is properly working with Parley 4:4.14.2-1in Debian Jessie.

Bug#683731: backupninja: rsync helper badly quotes the --delete option ->still not fixed in Jessie

2016-04-21 Thread Enrique Merle
Hi dear maintainers

I agree with Jessie Rose Lee in that this bug remains in Jessie. I am using
backupninja 1.0.1-1.
I think I found & resolved the bug, but I'm no professional developer, and even
I know git and other tools, my knowledge about bug solution protocols is scarce
and theoretical.
So I'm not sure on how to proceed, please send me corrections if you deem it
for send this solution correctly.

I will quote to show my point. From BASH man page, in Arrays Section, you can
read "(...)Any element of an array may be referenced using ${name[subscript]}.
The braces are required to avoid conflicts with pathname expansion. If
subscript is @ or *, the word expands to all members of name. These subscripts
differ only when the word appears within double quotes. If the word is
double-quoted, ${name[*]} expands to a single word with the value of each array
member separated by the first character of the IFS special variable, and
${name[@]} expands each element of name to a separate word. When there are no
array members, ${name[@]} expands to nothing. If the double-quoted expansion
occurs within a word, the expansion of the first parameter is joined with the
beginning part of the original word, and the expansion of the last parameter is
joined with the last part of the original word. This is analogous to the
expansion of the special parameters * and @ (see Special Parameters above).
(...)"

>From /usr/share/backupninja/rsync I show lines 1130-1147, but inmediate
>interest is in lines 1139 & 1141:

for SECTION in $include; do

$excludes $batch_option $orig $dest_path" | tee -a $log

check_rsync_exit_status $?
restore_pipefail
update_metadata

done

I replaced, in lines 1139 and 1141, expression
${rsync_options[@]}
by
${rsync_options[*]}

This is: because of its behaviour when in double quotes (as stated above in the
quoted excerpt of BASH man page), I changed the expansion character that
indicates the array to expand to all of its members. Since then, I can use the
rsync handler without any trouble. I not sure, but I think that other patch
proposed (bug #683371 in debian & backupninja bug #4019) will be unnecesary
with this correction.

Hoping that this can be helpful, best regards to all

Bug#787241: [xserver-xorg-video-intel] Also present with Sky Lake connected via HDMI

2016-04-14 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia Dabo
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

 Hi,

 I also see this problem with a Sky Lake connected via HDMI. I am using
also XFCE but I have seen the same behavior under Cinnamon, which I
shortly tried.
 The Xorg.0.log that I attach shows an error after switching back from a VT:
[53676,836] (EE) intel(0): sna_mode_shutdown_crtc: invalid state found on
pipe 0, disabling CRTC:21

Bug#815353: thunar: Sending file to email address doesn´t include the file in kmail editor

2016-02-20 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia
Package: thunar
Version: 1.6.3-2
Severity: normal

 Thunar offers the option to send a file to an email address by right
 clicking -> Send to -> email address (maybe the English locale is a bit
 different, that´s a translation from my Spanish locale).

 That will open a kmail editor window as expected but without any attachment.
 The email reader setting in the Preferred applications settings of XFCE is of
 course kmail.

Bug#811218: it is not avahi

2016-01-17 Thread Enrique Garcia

 well, I have purged avahi-autoipd and avahi-daemon but the problem is still
there, so it must be something else what causes that...

Bug#811218: [Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#811218: network-manager overwrites /etc/resolv.conf when a DHCPv6 lease is renewed

2016-01-17 Thread Enrique Garcia

 Yes, that´s the whole content of the file. That´s a good point, there is no
sign of Network Manager being the responsible of the rewritten file...

 These are the files I have under /etc/network/if-up.d:
avahi-autoipd  ethtool   openssh-server  upstart
avahi-daemon   mountnfs  openvpn wpasupplicant

 The avahi-daemon file looks like it is actually calling /usr/lib/avahi/avahi-
daemon-check-dns.sh which might be responsible for that. I will investigate
further.

 Thank you!

Bug#811218: network-manager overwrites /etc/resolv.conf when a DHCPv6 lease is renewed

2016-01-16 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.10.0-7
Severity: normal
Tags: ipv6

 I have defined the following NetworkManager wired connection:

[ethernet]
duplex=full

[connection]
id=Wired connection 1
type=ethernet

[ipv6]
method=auto
dns=2a00:e10:1000:10:4386:102:67:53;
ip6-privacy=1

[ipv4]
method=auto
dns=78.138.102.67;

 Before connecting to the network the /etc/resolv.conf looks like:
$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Generated by NetworkManager

 Just after connecting to the network the file looks like:
$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Generated by NetworkManager
search cm.cablesurf.de cm.cablesurf.de.
nameserver 195.234.128.12
nameserver 195.234.128.9
nameserver 78.138.102.67
# NOTA: el resolutor de nombres de libc puede que no soporte más de 3
servidores de nombres.
# Puede que los servidores de nombres listados abajo no se reconozcan.
nameserver 2001:4c50:6:4000::12
nameserver 2001:4c50:6:4000::16
nameserver 2a00:e10:1000:10:4386:102:67:53

 This is just fine, but only 10 seconds after that the file now looks like:
$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 2001:4c50:6:4000::12
nameserver 2001:4c50:6:4000::16

 and the IPv4 server has dissapeared together with the custom additional
 nameservers.

 Looking at journalctl I can see that this happens just after NetworkManager
 renews the DHCPv6 leasing:
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:domain search
'cm.cablesurf.de.'
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:nameserver
'2001:4c50:6:4000::16'
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:nameserver
'2001:4c50:6:4000::12'
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:address
2001:4c50:2cd:1400:5e26:aff:fe7e:b485
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:preferred_lft 30
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:valid_lft 60
ene 16 22:14:19  NetworkManager[799]:  (eth0): DHCPv6 state changed
renew6 -> renew6
ene 16 22:14:19 dhclient[32373]: RCV: Reply message on eth0 from
fe80::c627:95ff:feb0:f03.
ene 16 22:14:19  dhclient[32373]: XMT: Renew on eth0, interval 9520ms.
ene 16 22:14:19  dhclient[32373]: PRC: Renewing lease on eth0.

 The DHCPv4 leasing is on the other hand every 10 seconds, which is the
 value I set up in my router. For some reason the router doesn´t honor
 that value for IPv6 leases.

 The fact that NetworkManager modifies the DNS resolver is causing problems
 since the IPv6 resolvers are much slower and I loose the custom resolvers.

I prepared some days ago a new package for new upstream version of
Fritzing to fix the bug reports of package. I asked to Georges to
review it and upload if he consider it.

They are in Debian Mentors:

-
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/fritzing/fritzing_0.9.2b+dfsg-1.dsc
-
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/fritzing-parts/fritzing-parts_0.9.2b+dfsg-1.dsc

You may prefer to upload this instead of NMU version.

Regards.

 Hi! I'm preparing a NMU for this issue. Considering it's a quite easy fix and
 that it blocks qt4's transition I'll do a 3-day NMU upload.

 Please do not hesitate in replying if you think there is a better course of
 action.

 Kinds regards, Lisandro.

Bug#776437: network-manager: After suspend the routing table is sometimes wrong

2015-01-27 Thread Cesar Enrique Garcia
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.10.0-5
Severity: important

 After I suspending my laptop and waking it up again, the routing table is
 no longer a valid one:

 # route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse Iface
192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0   U 0  00 eth1

 whereas the routing table before suspending is:
  # route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse Iface
0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG1024   00 eth1
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1000   00 eth1
192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0   U 0  00 eth1

 nm-applet shows that the eth1 is connected to the Wi-Fi.

 The error cannot be reproduced all the time. Since it is a quite old and
 slow laptop, there might be some race condition.

 I see no error messages in /var/log/daemon.log.

 The IPv6 routing table also changed. Before:

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

 The plugin shows English localization under a Spanish environment.

 I have checked that version 0.8.5 recently released already delivers
many translation updates, including the Spanish one. It also includes
some improvements found in 0.8.4:

Bug#773788: lxc-ubuntu cannot create a container with option --packages default-jdk

2014-12-23 Thread Enrique
Source: lxc
Version: 1.0.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

 I have tried to create an ubuntu container with the following command:

 lxc-create  -t ubuntu -n test_utopic -- -r utopic --packages default-jdk

 The command fails with the following errors:

Setting up openjdk-7-jre-headless:amd64 (7u71-2.5.3-0ubuntu1) ...
the java command requires a mounted proc fs (/proc).
dpkg: error processing package openjdk-7-jre-headless:amd64 (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
lxc_container: container creation template for test_utopic failed
lxc_container: Error creating container test_utopic

 Of course, as a workaround is to login in the container and install it
manually, but that prevents the automatic creation and provision of containers,
as I wish.

Bug#731527: apt-listbugs: no package can get installed

2013-12-06 Thread Enrique Garcia
Package: apt-listbugs
Version: 0.1.9
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

No package can be installed using version 0.1.11. This error is shown when you
try to install any package using synaptic or aptitude (and any other install
manager I guess).

   E: APT_HOOK_INFO_FD is not correctly defined.
   E: Sub-process /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10 returned an error code
(10)
   E: Failure running script /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10

Downgrading to version 0.1.9 solves the problem.

Dear Maintainer,

Hello Enrique,
thanks for your bug report.

No package can be installed using version 0.1.11.

If you are experiencing the issue with apt-listbugs/0.1.11, it would
have been better to report the bug while having that version installed,
not after downgrading it...
I am fixing the version info of this report.

My apologies about that.

This error is shown when you
try to install any package using synaptic or aptitude (and any other install
manager I guess).

   E: APT_HOOK_INFO_FD is not correctly defined.
   E: Sub-process /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10 returned an error code

(10)

   E: Failure running script /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10

Downgrading to version 0.1.9 solves the problem.

It seems to me that you are using an outdated version of the
configuration file.

Please paste the output of the following command in your reply:

   $ cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10apt-listbugs

$ cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10apt-listbugs

// If you don't like it, comment it out.

DPkg::Tools::Options::/usr/sbin/apt-listbugs::InfoFD 20;
AptListbugs::Severities critical,grave,serious;
// AptListbugs::IgnoreRegexp FTBFS;

Maybe you customized this configuration file in the past and you didn't
accept the new version shipped with apt-listbugs/0.1.11 when upgrading
from apt-listbugs/0.1.9 ?

I don't remember having done that.

If this is the case, then please upgrade again to apt-listbugs/0.1.11,
accept the new version of the configuration file and then (possibly)
re-adapt it to your needs.
Please don't hesitate to ask for help, if you are not sure how to
proceed.

Please let me know, in any case.

Yes.

This is really awkward.

The error message you quoted seems to indicate that you had a different
10apt-listbugs configuration file when you experienced the issue...

Let me elaborate a bit: the error message you quoted talks about
sub-process /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10. This is the
process that exits unsuccessfully.

If your /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10apt-listbugs invokes
/usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt, it looks as if something else invoked
/usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10 ...

Could you please run

   $ grep -r exit /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/

and paste the output in your reply?

Also, do you have a /etc/apt/apt.conf file?
If so, please run

   $ grep exit /etc/apt/apt.conf

and paste the output in your reply.

Please let me know.

For some reason the env var APT_HOOK_INFO_FD is getting value 0. How is the env
var setted?

This environment variable is set by apt-get (or compatible package
managers, such as aptitude) before invoking apt-listbugs. The value is
set in the option:

DPkg::Tools::Options::/usr/sbin/apt-listbugs::InfoFD 20;

Hence, it should be 20 in your case.

Let me add something else more akward, after reinstalling 0.1.11 version again
(this maybe the 4th), now the bug is not reproduced any more.
My only explanation is that, as you said, for some reason config file was not
properly installed in some installations. After upgrading/downgrading cycles the
config file was finally properly installed.

Anyway, thanks for your great and fast help.

Bug#727700: lxc: debian template doesn't ask for a root password

2013-10-25 Thread Enrique
Package: lxc
Version: 1.0.0~alpha2-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

 using debian template without preseeding, the root password should be asked,
however this is not the case and it is not possible to log into the container.
 The steps I add are:

 create -t debian -n my_container
 Preseed file anyone?   Empty
 Distribution  Debian GNU/Linux 8 jessie
 Architecture 64-bit PC (amd64)
 Archives   Default
 Mirror   Default
 Mirror Security Default
 Archive Areas   Default
 Packages Empty
 Bridge  br0
 MAC  Default

 Other live-debconfig questions are left with the defaults.

 As seen from /usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-debconfig.d/0003-debconf, the
question about root password should come after the Archives question, but it
doesn't.

Bug#707215: [kdevelop] Crashes when opening some C files

Hi,
I have tested recently at home and at work and same problem was reproduced.

Updating/installing libkasten* to 4.10 in experimental, libsublime* 1.4

I would say this is unusable at the moment.

Bug#696958: closer inspection

2012-12-29 Thread Enrique Garcia

 After a bit more of testing it seems that the problem is a bit more complex
than expected...

 In order to reproduce the error the following conditions must be met:

 1) Run it under XFCE (I am using the official Debian wheezy version 4.8.3-2)

 2) Configure more than one keyboard layout under XFCE (In item Keyboard in
the configuration tool).

 3) The first defined keyboard layout is not the default one.

 In my case I have four defined keyboard layouts in this order: Spanish,
French, English (EEUU) and German. The default now is English, but I have
checked that using the Spanish keys for + and - (which corresponds in US
keyboard to ] and / keys) I get the desired behaviour in akregator.

 So in summary the problem seems to be that the keyboard shortcuts used by
akregator are mapped using the first listed keyboard layout by XFCE, rather
than the actually used.

 I have also checked that the same behaviour happens to kmail, so it seems to
be a common problem of KDE applications under XFCE.

 I am using akregator stand alone.
 As I said in my previous comment the problem appears within a XFCE session.
 Other shortcuts work, but I am afraid that it is because the mapping in the
keyboard is the same for us and es layouts.

 Do other shortcuts of the Go menu (e.g. Left/Right for previous/next

 Are you running akregator as standalone application, or as part of
 kontact? (Possibly it should not change, but let's double check.)

Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: important

 I am connecting virt-manager to a host using qemu+ssh protocol. The
 connection is called qemu+ssh://user@host/system.

This works fine and four virtual machines are shown. However, when I
double-click on any of the virtual machines

I get the following error:
 Error: VNC connection to hypervisor host got refused or
 disconnected! Error: zsh:1: command not found: nc -q 0 127.0.0.1
 5904

 I have checked that the nc command actually exists (also in the
 host). zsh is my shell both in the local and remote machine.
 I have used the same procedure from Mint 13 and Fedora 17 and it can
 connect to the same host without any problem. I can access the
 configuration of the virtual machine clicking on the info button, so
 it seems it is a problem only showing the VNC virtual console.

Bug#661298: mirror submission for mirror.debian.cl

2012-02-26 Thread Rodolfo Enrique Thöne Torres
Hi everyone,

Answering your questions:

it's just amd64 and i386, the other 2 arquitectures is a little mistake
just ones in the conf.

I can configure crontab to update 4 times.

The bandwidth is 100Mbit national and 30Mbit international

 Hi,

 Thank you for mirroring Debian. Before proceeding with its inclusion,
 please
 address the following issues:

 On Saturday 25 February 2012 21:57:07 you wrote:
  Site: mirror.debian.cl
  Aliases: mirror.debian.cl
  Type: leaf
  Archive-architecture: amd64 i386

 You also appear to be mirroring armhf and s390x, is that intentional and
 should therefore be included in your registration?

  Archive-http: /debian/
  IPv6: no
  Archive-upstream: ftp.cl.debian.org
  Updates: once

 The archive is updated four times a day nowadays, could you please consider
 updating more often?

 What's the amount of bandwidth available to the mirror?
 N.b. this is included in a public list.

 Thanks again.

So, I make progress packaging OpenSC version 0.12.x. You can get all my work
from our forge[4]. I created a branch[5] to develop a package for OpenSC
without the spanish driver until the main project adopts it in mainline
development. This adoption is expected in the next version 0.12.2.

I thought to ask for a sponsor at debian mentors to share my work but this bug
report arrived early ;)

I've seen that just today, Eric has been updating the git repository of the
opensc package for Debian. I'll try to merge his changes with my repo :)

Hi,
I intend to orphan the wmifinfo package because I don't use the package
anymore.
If anybody is interested to adopt it, feel free to do.

Package description:
wmifinfo is a simple applet showing basic network info for all available
interfaces. It shows IP address, netmask, gateway and MAC address in a
similar way to ifconfig.
