Bug#1010663: RFS: strawberry/1.0.4-1 [ITP] -- Audio player and music collection organizer
Hi Jeroen and others, I'm sorry I won't have time to retry a new packaging upload for Strawberry. I already have a lot to fix on other packages I maintain and I miss time. So anyone who want to go on on this is welcome. If I remember there where no big issues or blocking points left but all the copyrights need to be well rechecked. For some files it's also a bit tricky because some headers have been rewritten since the fork of Clementine (it's forked from amarok...). So the main job left should be to ensure the copyright file is really completed and accurate. And as I'm not a DD I can't help for sponsoring so you will have to find one. Thomas

Bug#913079: ITP: strawberry -- an audio player and music collection organizer fully based on Qt5
Hi Tony, Thank you very much for your offer but strawberry is already sponsored and waiting in the NEW queue now. So hopefully it will be accepted very soon. I should have mention the ongoing review/sponsoring here, I'm sorry about that. Cheers, Thomas

Hi Dmitry, I just uploaded a new version of clementine disabling projectm for now because I have also others issues related to its integration. I need a bit of time to work on this. So for now the new version of clementine I uploaded include a new upstream version (small, 1 bugfix), a change of the repacking method and no depend on projectm so it should be ok to build on all arch. And I will keep an eye on it for the migration to testing. -- Thomas

Package: wnpp Owner: Thomas Pierson Severity: wishlist * Package name : strawberry * Version : 0.4.1 * Upstream Author : Jonas Kvinge * URL : https://strawbs.org/ * License : GPL-3+ * Programming Lang : C++ * Description : an audio player and music collection organizer fully based on Qt5 Strawberry is a audio player and music collection organizer. It is a fork of Clementine created in 2013, it's written in C++ and Qt 5. The name is inspired by the band Strawbs. It is aimed at audio enthusiasts who either purchase high resolution audio files from sites such as HD Tracks, or rip their CD's to FLAC or WavPack. This package is relevant because upstream developers actively develop and release stable versions fully based on Qt5 which is not the case any more with the parent Clementine project. It is also relevant because developers focus on high quality audio handling witch is a demand of some Debian Clementine users. Beside that I already maintain the clementine package which have a close code base so I have a good idea of the work needed here. Bug#875325: clementine: Please pack QT5 branch
block -1 by 875033 875027 thanks Hi Cristiano, On 10/09/2017 19:45, Cristiano Rodrigues wrote: > Clementine QT4 branch is not working due to qt4libs and its SSL1.0 > incompatibility.> I'm requesting to the clementine maintainer to pack the QT5 > branch. I have it compiled and running and so far it seems to be working with no issues. Yes and anyway qt4 will be removed from unstable soon and we can't wait for an official release. So I'm working on packaging this branch but I have 2 blocking issues: 1. This branch depends on the qt5 version of libmygpo-qt library which need to be updated in Debian too [1]. 2. This branch still depends on libqxt which will be removed from unstable too because it is based on qt4 and unmaintained since 2014. Clementine upstream basically patched and embedded some parts of this library but we can't use that in Debian. The first issue could be fixed be packaging the new version of libmygpo-qt library which is compatible with qt5. Or by disabling the GPO module. The second issue is more complex because as upstream project is dead I can't continue to maintain libqxt and port all the code to be compatible with qt5. I think the best solution would be to patch Clementine to not use libqxt anymore but some piece of qt5 code instead. I'm working on it. One month ago I already post a bug report against the linux package about disk lock on some Jessie guests in the same cluster: - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=870471 In that cases I got something on the guests kernel logs so maybe it's a different issue, maybe not… Any idea of how I can troubleshoot this issue? Bug#862551: RM: libechonest -- ROM; Obsolete library that use an external API that no longer exists.
Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal Hi, Please remove libechonest. This library is now obsolete because it depends on an external API (Echonest API) that no longer exist. Clementine, a music player packaged in Debian, used this library in the past but not anymore. As far as I know, no more packages depend on it in unstable and testing. I also warned users in the NEWS.Debian few months ago. Regards, Thomas Pierson signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#851529: ITP: kup-backup -- a backup scheduler for KDE's Plasma desktop
Package: wnpp Owner: Thomas Pierson <cont...@thomaspierson.fr> Severity: wishlist * Package name: kup-backup Version : 0.6.1 Upstream Author : Simon Persson <simonperss...@gmail.com> * URL : https://www.linux-apps.com/p/1127689/ * License : GPL2+ Programming Lang: C++ Description : a backup scheduler for KDE's Plasma desktop (I chose this package name to avoid collision with a `kup` package already present in the archive.) Kup is created for helping people to keep up-to-date backups of their personal files. Connecting a USB hard drive is the primary supported way to store files, but saving files to a server over a network connection is also possible for advanced users. […] This package is relevant because it provide a full integration with KDE Plasma and use modern backup sub-system like bup. It provide features similar to deja-dup or backintime but it is much more integrated with KDE and QT5 environments. I plan to maintain it using the git-buildpackage workflow and I host it here for now: * VCS: git://thomaspierson.fr/pkg-kup-backup.git * Vcs-Browser: http://gitweb.thomaspierson.fr/?p=pkg-kup-backup.git;a=summary I already maintain other packages as a DM but I will need a sponsor for this package. For the moment, I just get a usable package and I use it regularly but there is a lot of work to do to. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#841364: clementine: no sound at all, "GStreamer encountered a general stream error."
severity 841364 important retitle 841364 clementine: unable to play anything in special configuration cases, "GStreamer encountered a general stream error" thanks Hi, @Adam, I tried many migrations and I still could not reproduce your bug. I still think that this is caused by a special use case of forcing a sink device in the config file or something like this. So before I get more information about your configuration, I'm lowering the severity of this bug and retitle it because it only affect a particular configuration case. @Dio, I confirm with your screenshot that your issue sound like a missing Gstreamer plugin story and it's not related with this issue. Please open a new bug with all informations needed: what file are you trying to play, what is exactly the error message you got. Thanks, Thomas Pierson

In Stretch/Sid there are no Gstreamer0.10 and there are no Gstreamer ffmpeg codecs anymore. The equivalent package you are looking for is probably gstreamer1.0-libav. But this is only a set of optional plugins, not a depend. In fact, maybe you have the same gstreamer error message but I think you have a totally different issue. And you are using unofficial repositories like www.deb-multimedia.org which are known to be very buggy and to cause breakages with many official packages. So, don't hesitate to open a new bug report but please retry first with a clean system without any unofficial package. Thanks, Thomas Pierson

Yes, it seems that clementine get a lot of troubles (including crashes) using the current version of taglib in Debian but this is not a build-depend issue and clementine is not the only package affected. The source of the problem is just that the version 1.9.1 of taglib is very buggy and that we need a newer version to be packaged in Debian. There is a bug report against the taglib package here and I already post on it: * https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=805848 The best you can do to help is find a way to reproduce the bug you talk about and next open a new bug report against clementine. I can see 2 problems in your logs: 1. a missing codec issue: "Missing decoder: MPEG-4 AAC" 2. a output sink issue: " error: Jack server not found" The first issue is maybe just due to the lack off mpeg-4 aac codec in gstreamer-good and ugly plugins packages. Bug#766594: Bug#806301: RFS: libechonest/2.3.1-0.1 [NMU] -- library for communicating with The Echo Nest platform
Hi Gianfranco, Stefan, Gianfranco Costamagna <costamagnagianfra...@yahoo.it> a écrit : >Built, don't forget next time to put a link to where >the original maintainer >acked the upload, and also you can consider using -1 as Debian >revision, and maybe add a >"Team Upload" (dch --team), if the maintainer is aware of the changes It must be a standard NMU because like you said: there is no official link or signed message from me that ack or review the changes. I'm not in a position of reviewing a package or signing something. (I'm in vacation on a sailboat on the middle of the atlantic ocean.) So I just give my permission for a NMU to Stefan if he found a sponsor for reviewing his changes and made an upload. >Dear Thomas, since you are the maintainer I'm ccing you to this email, >to let you aware of the upload in new queue. Bug#777819: Partial fix for FTBFS error
Hi Tim, Le 30/06/2015 03:46, Potter, Tim (Cloud Services) a écrit : Hi there. I’ve made a partial fix for building clementine under GCC5. The patch is attached and it’s a simple rearrangement of operands to prevent an error/bug due to operator precedence. The fix has already made it into the master branch of upstream. Thanks for your help. I work on this issue and I plan to make an upload including your fix soon. This doesn’t completely fix the FTBFS though. I had to rebuild libprotobuf using GCC5 to allow linking using the new C++ ABI but that should fix itself over time. The latest problem is a link problem against TagLib::String::String. This doesn’t look like an ABI problem and I don’t have a fix yet, but thought I would post my work so far. Your tagreader error seems related to protobuf too. I just rebuild clementine with GCC-5 and protobuf rebuild with GCC-5 too and it seems to works. But I have to install all the fresh protobuf packages and not only libprotobuf9, maybe this is why you got this linking issue? Dear maintainer, I could reproduce exactly the same issue and error logs on a fresh Jessie install from the last release iso: `debian-8.0.0-amd64-CD-1.iso`. Bug#777148: shinken does not start after install, need to manually enable systemd services
Hello Mathieu, Thibault, I think there are two problems here: - We need to call systemctl daemon-reload on shinken-common.postinst = This is needed for systemd to know about the new init file Yes, I confirm that it solve the first start issue. - We probably need to mask the shinken service, as this is a bad-designed initscript which start all daemons from the same cgroup. See #740942 for a similar problem I agree and I think there is an other side effects to this. For example when I execute a restart of all individuals services with `services shinken-* restart` all daemons successfully restart and seem to be alive but shinken checks seems to be stopped and never happen anymore. I solve this issue by restarting again only the poller (wait some time) and then the arbiter. After that shinken checks reworks correctly. So I think there is also something bad about the order/concurrency when all daemons start. Maybe this could help you solving this issue. Bug#722471: clementine: libsqlite3.0 compatibility
Hi Tim and Patrick, Clementine upstream sources default use an embedded old version of sqlite3 library: 3.6.19 released in 2009. But in Debian we must use the official sqlite3 package: 3.7.13 in Wheezy and 3.8.0.2 in testing/sid. It seems that the last sqlite3 upgrade to 3.8.O.2 caused some troubles on clementine. This could be a regression in sqlite3 or a clementine compatibility issue. And for the moment I have no idea. From clementine bug report https://code.google.com/p/clementine-player/issues/detail?id=3847 Yes - this is a debian packaging bug. They either need to switch STATIC_SQLITE=ON or ensure that the qt4 sqlite plugin is built with all the sqlite3 symbols visible. This is not something we can fix. If you set `STATIC_SQLITE=ON` you use the embedded version of sqlite3 and not the libsqlite3 Debian package. So this is not a good solution for us in a Debian context. Bug#694250: clementine doesn't support moodbar
severity 694250 wishlist tags 694250 + pending thanks Hello Martin, Thanks for your report. allthough clementine 1.1 should support moodbar it doesn't work. Yes, I simply don't build the package with the moodbar support for this revision. ..deb packaged for ubuntu it works, so there are no missing dependencies. The official ubuntu package is always derived from the package in Debian unstable archive. If you talk about the package provided by upstream developers, this package use many depends as bundled libraries. In Debian we must use real system-wide depends if they exist in the archive. By the way: you ship 1.1.0-rc in experimental allthough 1.1.1 is the current upstream version. I would appreciate it if you package the current version. I just work on this [1]. I want to make some tests before but I plan to upload a new revision of the package in experimental soon which include the last upstream release and moodbar support. tag 686878 unreproducible moreinfo thanks Hello Lenz, and then in another console, during build u can see ps -lxaw | grep g++ or ps -lxaw | grep tune and flags set tune to host cpu detected, and not a arch made. During the build I got 'march=i586' and 'mtune=generic' which are the default build values define by GCC for the x86 arch in Debian. There are related discussions here : [1]. I still have a look on the generated makefiles and there is no special build flags related to 'march' or 'mtune' generated by qmake. The package seem to use the default build flags from gcc. Could you send some results of your 'ps -lxaw | grep mtune' commands? I also notice that you does not have the last revision of the package installed on your system. Bug#680059: revelation: FPM exporter doesn't encrypt password files [CVE-2012-3818]
tags 680059 patch thanks Hello Stefan, I talk about this issue with Mikel Olasagasti an upstream developer and he plan to fix it but he can't do it until the end of the month. Meantime he advice me some quick fixes like simply disabling FPM exporter or warn about is it an insecure format. Finally I choose to totally disable it because I think there is a big mistake in the generated xml which does not seem to respect the FPM format specification. So I done this by set 'importer', 'exporter' and 'encryption' var to 'False' in 'src/lib/datahandler/fpm.py' file. It's a quick fix but it satisfy the security issue. I attached a debdiff and a git-format patches. Bug#673717: clementine: should build-depend on libprotobuf-dev, protobuf-compiler, libqca2-dev (for Spotify support)
severity 673717 wishlist thanks Hello Dave, Thomas Pierson, please read the launchpad bug. ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clementine/+bug/995689 ) Done. The clementine dev said that the Spotify plugin will build without libspotify and then clementine will take care of the non-GPL parts. I understand but I can't add new build-depends on Clementine package just for building a plugin which depends on a proprietary software. I think this is not a valid reason considering the Debian guidelines. Considering the Debian Free Software Guidelines, Debian is a operating system build under a coherent free software context. I don't want to encourage people using an external proprietary library. This can cause side effects on Clementine (and on other packages) that we will not be able to solve. Instead of that, I prefer encourage people who works on a free implementation of this library : 'libopenspotify'. [1] [2] Maybe Clementine will be able to use it in the future.
