Bug#562974: quassel-client: Quassl client segfaults on first run

Bug#560398: eclipse: Eclipse does not start: JVM terminated. Exit code=127
Hi! * Niels Thykier ni...@thykier.net [2009-12-10 22:47:56 CET]: Thank you for taking your time to report this bug. I believe you are suffering from #507536[1] in one of its many forms. There some who have reported a workaround that you can try[2]. We are preparing an upload of eclipse soon; but I seriously doubt we will be able to backport it to stable. If installing xulrunner-dev works around the issue I think it might be a valid option for a minimal approach to get it fixed in stable. Or is the showIntro=false hack possible to ship in a system wide configuration file? That would also be a valid option. Stating that one doesn't want to fix it in stable somehow leaves the impression that the packagers think that eclipse in stable is not to be supported - and somehow suggests that the release team should get it removed with the next point release. However, finally, /etc/pam.d/login was changed to use requiredwhich Steve Langasek immediately objected by reopening the bug and raising its severity. I personnally agree that we should revert that change I committed this in SVN. So, I cloned this bug to reflect Steve's intent when he reopened it. That bug is then a please go back to 'requisite' bug...and remains RC. On the other hand, #531341, which has never been RC gets its severity lowered. -- signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#520927: More information needed about this dump corruption bug
tags 520927 moreinfo thanks Hello Jenny, Back in March 2009, you reported a bug about file corruption when dumping filesystems. Bdale Garbee, who maintains the relevant package asked the upstream author (Stelian Pop) whether that rings some bells for him. Stelian answered the following, which was apparently never forwarded to you (or at least in a visible way). This sounds like some tests could be done on your side. Hopefully, you're still in position to do them... Stelian Pop's answer: On Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 05:15:37PM -0600, Bdale Garbee wrote: One of the users of my Debian package of dump reported repeatable corruption when using dump over rmt to a remote tape drive. See the item in our bug tracking system at http://bugs.debian.org/520927 for more information. I've poked around a bit, but it won't be easy for me to reproduce the problem. Does this ring any bells with you? This sounds a lot like the kind of problems that can be encountered when dumping a live filesystem. In order to completly rule out any network related corruptions, I would suggest to try doing a dumping locally (into a file in /tmp for example), and try restoring (or comparing) this dump. As for the live filesystem problem, the only way to confirm that this is the cause is, well, to umount (or mount R/O) the filesystem before dumping. While you're at it, try to force a fsck on this filesystem, just in case the filesystem is really corrupt... Bug#569793: debian-edu-config: etcinsvk has been removed from unstable
tags 569793 + patch thanks [Ansgar Burchardt] I'm setting the severity to serious as etcinsvk has been removed[1] from unstable. No worries. We plan to upload a fix for this as soon as our lenny based r1 release is shipped. If we got all the code using etcinsvk right, it should be enough to remove the dependency. All code using etcinsvk should check for its presense first, so lacking it should not be a problem. This of course need to be tested. :) Anyway, this patch should solve the problem. Bug#574087: (bugreport 573327) confirmation of initial problem and change of behaviour
Subject: Re: confirmation of initial problem and change of behaviour Package: wireless-tools Version: 30~pre9-4 Severity: grave I did observe the same behaviour (as in bug 573327) two weeks (or so) ago on my laptop with atheros Wifi-lan, therefore I switched back to a wired connection again. To me it sees to be related with the inability of iwconfig to associate the wireless card to my acces-point. Currently the garbling of the essid apears to have been solved. But iwconfig is still not able to associate my atheros (lspci: 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)) to the accesspoint as before the beginning of february 2010. Under Kubuntu-9.04 on the same machine the connection is functional, so to me it looks like a debian-problem. Reverting back to version wireless-tools 28-1 did not solve the problem for my case, so to me its a bit confusing. Another small confusion was the change of name of the interface from ath0 to wlan0 after I finished a fresh debian install. Bug#573636: diakonos fails to start
Hi, thanks for your patch. However I think it's slightly wrong. You are using dpatch without having dpatch as build-depend. When you have dpatch as b-d, why not use /usr/share/dpatch/dpatch.make and it's magic targets? Using build-stamp: patch-stamp clean: unpatch should be enough (you do not need to unclean before unpatching, because you are not patching any makefiles or smth involved in the clean process). *However* I'd not use dpatch at all here. Maintainer already has direct changes to files in his .diff.gz (lib/diakonos.rb and lib/diakonos/help.rb) and I think forcing him to some patch system he is not (yet) using is the wrong way *here* (don't understand me wrong, I'm all for patch systems [even if I prefer quilt over dpatch] but here we are not the maintainer and should adapt his workflow). The library in libtacacs+1-dev does not provide any functionality of regexp.c. It is merely used for tac_plus. So the manpage should be removed from that package. Bug#569094: aatv: 569094: initial libv4l1 port attempt
Hi Uwe, I made an initial attempt at a patch (attached) to port aatv to libv4l1. I tested with a webcam at the BSP, but I could not get it to return data from the webcam. I suspect someone with knowledge of V4L2 should port the app to the proper V4L2 APIs instead. Alternatively, since mplayer has a V4L driver and can output colour on the console using libcaca, aatv could simply be removed from the archive. Bug#571027: Patch for this file conflict bug...
tags 571027 patch thanks This bug will only appear on lenny-sid upgrades because the version in lenny is 2.86.ds1-61, that has the offending manpage. It was removed later on in sysv-rc package development. Beware the sysv-rc maintainers disabled the inclusion of the manpage, but only temporarily, so that problem might pop up again later non. I think this can be fixed with a Breaks statement, that will force sysv-rc to be updated prior to the update of manpages-fr-extra. -- diff -Nru manpages-fr-extra-20090906.old/debian/changelog manpages-fr-extra-20090906+nmu1/debian/changelog --- manpages-fr-extra-20090906.old/debian/changelog 2010-03-16 11:25:12.0 +0100 +++ manpages-fr-extra-20090906+nmu1/debian/changelog2010-03-16 11:48:12.0 +0100 @@ -1,3 +1,13 @@ +manpages-fr-extra (20090906+nmu1) unstable; urgency=low + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Add Breaks: sysv-rc ( 2.87dsf-3) to allow safe upgrades from +lenny as sysv-rc is providing +/usr/share/man/fr/man8/update-rc.d.8.gz +Closes: #571027 + + -- Christian Perrier bubu...@debian.org Tue, 16 Mar 2010 11:48:08 +0100 + manpages-fr-extra (20090906) unstable; urgency=low [ Nicolas FRANCOIS ] diff -Nru manpages-fr-extra-20090906.old/debian/control manpages-fr-extra-20090906+nmu1/debian/control --- manpages-fr-extra-20090906.old/debian/control 2010-03-16 11:25:12.0 +0100 +++ manpages-fr-extra-20090906+nmu1/debian/control 2010-03-16 11:46:43.0 +0100 @@ -14,6 +14,7 @@ Priority: optional Replaces: manpages-fr ( 2.33.2-1), belocs-locales-bin ( 2.4-3) Recommends: manpages-fr +Breaks: sysv-rc ( 2.87dsf-3) Suggests: man-db | man-browser, manpages-fr-dev Description: French version of the manual pages French translation of manual pages found in manpages and manpages-dev signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Would you consider to try to fix it for lenny too, for which it was original reported and which is our supported stable release? I don't think the bug is serious enough to warrant a stable update, but I don't mind to fix it for lenny too if the SRMs believe we should. I would suggest you to ask the release team for their opinion and if they share it tag the bug with squeeze sid so that the BTS doesn't think lenny is affected. Bug#552899: (const void*) vs (const struct dirent**)
I'm Mario Simonetti From Italy (Piombino,Li) , I'm a programmer in 'C' and I know this language quite good. I wrote many and many 1000's of rows of source in previously versions of Linux, as FEDORA FC2, FC4, FC7 , Debian 4.05 , Ubuntu 9.04 , but I never had this kind of problem. the template: int (*)(const void*,const void*) works very well in all of those distributions. But when I try to compile the same source files with Ubuntu 9.10 , I have always the problem. It doesn't matter if you are compiling a device-driver , or a patch o something else , the problem existes and it isn't still solved. I think that the casting of all our variables to adjust the correct new syntax is not a good idea because '*' and '**' means two different things. (const void*) is a simple pointer to something , but (const struct dirent **) is a pointer of a pointer, so if yow only pass the arguments to the scandir() function and yow don't do anything other , all is okay. If your code does something before passing the arguments to scandir it processes variables in tho different ways (Big Problem). Yow just get a Segmentation-fault of course ! Yow must review enterely the portion of your code keeping in your mind what yow want to do. Bug#574121: iptotal generates incorrect filenames for graph images
Package: iptotal Version: 0.3.3-11 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hello, I installed 0.3.3-11 (powerpc) from sid because the default version in lenny (0.3.3-7) was causing significant cpu usage while idle. This is fixed in 0.3.3-11. However, on the various iptotal cgi pages, the images are being generated, but the img tags are not being correctly populated with links to them. The problem is that the img tag is being written as: /iptotal/images//var/lib/iptotal/images/eth_*.png instead of the correct: /iptotal/images/eth_*.png I suspect that this problem came about somewhere during the data directory changes from /var/www to /usr/lib/ to /var/lib. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the best way to fix this in the cgi. The images do get generated, and I can view them by inserting my own img links in the template.html document, but they don't show up on the various cgi pages. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in developing a fix. As of monotone 0.47 I do not see any file named hooks.lua.base either in the upstream sources or in the Debian packaging scripts. Is this an upstream bug? Is it fixed in 0.47-1? While I don't particularly feel attached to the binary name, upstream provides loads of documentation that tell people to run grape. I can also reproduce the issue locally using qemu-system-mips. Unfortunatley the error message is pretty useless as it doesn't tell me which of the items being linked contains the problem. Bug#573983: Upstream patch doesn't resolve things for me
Hi, I've just built and installed a set of local imagemagick packages with the suggested patch from upstream (adding Utopia as an alternative font family) and I'm afraid I have to report that I still get the same problem: $ montage IMG_3058.jpg IMG_3059.jpg montage: unable to read font `(null)' @ error/annotate.c/RenderFreetype/1047. (the change in line number being purely the addition of the patch). If there's any further information I can provide to help, please let me know. I'm sure you'd like to get the imagemagick transition finished as quickly as I would. :-) Adam -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
