Bug#562974: quassel-client: Quassl client segfaults on first run

2010-03-16 Thread Thomas Müller

Hi,
Just got feedback from upstream.
0.6 will be released in Mid-April.
This release will be part of the next kubuntu release.

Any idea when squeeze freeze will start?

Thx

Tom

Hi Thomas,

do you have any ETA for the 0.6.0 release? If it's not tomorrow, maybe
it'll be better to have a 0.5.2 with the patch you linked to for the
time being?
Just thinking about a possible freeze soon.

Regards
Evgeni

Bug#552893: Duplicated functions

thanks

The auto-generated preload/exported.h both #include dirent.h
and provides slightly different declarations for scandir() and scandir64().
Is there any reason for not using the system functions?

This patch (removing the duplicated declarations) makes it build.

Thank you for taking your time to report this bug. I believe you are
suffering from #507536[1] in one of its many forms. There some who have
reported a workaround that you can try[2].

We are preparing an upload of eclipse soon; but I seriously doubt we
will be able to backport it to stable.

If installing xulrunner-dev works around the issue I think it might be
a valid option for a minimal approach to get it fixed in stable. Or is
the showIntro=false hack possible to ship in a system wide configuration
file? That would also be a valid option. Stating that one doesn't want
to fix it in stable somehow leaves the impression that the packagers
think that eclipse in stable is not to be supported - and somehow
suggests that the release team should get it removed with the next point
release.

 Thanks,

retitle -1 Please go back to requisite for pam_securetty in login.pam

I went through the entire history of this bug report and found it
quite surprising..:-)

Nicolas very obviously supports the use of requisite for
pam_securetty and after his long
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=37;bug=531341)
explanation, there have been a few messages supporting that choice.

However, finally, /etc/pam.d/login was changed to use
requiredwhich Steve Langasek immediately objected by reopening
the bug and raising its severity.

I personnally agree that we should revert that change I committed
this in SVN.

So, I cloned this bug to reflect Steve's intent when he reopened
it. That bug is then a please go back to 'requisite' bug...and
remains RC.

On the other hand, #531341, which has never been RC gets its severity lowered.

Bug#520927: More information needed about this dump corruption bug

2010-03-16 Thread Christian Perrier
tags 520927 moreinfo
thanks

Hello Jenny,

Back in March 2009, you reported a bug about file corruption when
dumping filesystems.

Bdale Garbee, who maintains the relevant package asked the upstream
author (Stelian Pop) whether that rings some bells for him.

Stelian answered the following, which was apparently never forwarded
to you (or at least in a visible way). This sounds like some tests
could be done on your side. Hopefully, you're still in position to do
them...

Stelian Pop's answer:

On Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 05:15:37PM -0600, Bdale Garbee wrote:

One of the users of my Debian package of dump reported repeatable corruption
when using dump over rmt to a remote tape drive. See the item in our bug
tracking system at http://bugs.debian.org/520927 for more information.

I've poked around a bit, but it won't be easy for me to reproduce the problem.
Does this ring any bells with you?

This sounds a lot like the kind of problems that can be encountered
when dumping a live filesystem.

In order to completly rule out any network related corruptions, I
would suggest to try doing a dumping locally (into a file in /tmp for
example), and try restoring (or comparing) this dump.

As for the live filesystem problem, the only way to confirm that
this is the cause is, well, to umount (or mount R/O) the filesystem
before dumping.

While you're at it, try to force a fsck on this filesystem, just in
case the filesystem is really corrupt...

Stelian.

[Ansgar Burchardt]
I'm setting the severity to serious as etcinsvk has been removed[1]
 from unstable.

No worries. We plan to upload a fix for this as soon as our lenny
based r1 release is shipped.

If we got all the code using etcinsvk right, it should be enough to
remove the dependency. All code using etcinsvk should check for its
presense first, so lacking it should not be a problem. This of course
need to be tested. :)

Anyway, this patch should solve the problem.

I don't think the bug is serious enough to warrant a stable update, but
I don't mind to fix it for lenny too if the SRMs believe we should.

As I said, no *official* package is affected. Sourcing GNUstep.sh is
required to set up some environment variables providing access to tools,
apps and frameworks installed under ~/GNUstep (i.e.

Bug#574087: (bugreport 573327) confirmation of initial problem and change of behaviour

2010-03-16 Thread Hans De Jonge
Subject: Re: confirmation of initial problem and change of behaviour
Package: wireless-tools
Version: 30~pre9-4
Severity: grave

I did observe the same behaviour (as in bug 573327) two weeks (or so)
ago on my laptop with atheros Wifi-lan, therefore I switched back to a
wired connection again. To me it sees to be related with the inability of
iwconfig to associate the wireless card to my acces-point.

Currently the garbling of the essid apears to have been solved.
But iwconfig is still not able to associate my atheros
(lspci: 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001
Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01))
to the accesspoint as before the beginning of february 2010.

Under Kubuntu-9.04 on the same machine the connection is functional,
so to me it looks like a debian-problem.

Reverting back to version wireless-tools 28-1 did not solve the problem for my
case, so to me its a bit confusing.
Another small confusion was the change of name of the interface from
ath0 to wlan0 after I finished a fresh debian install.

The problem persists in both stock kernel 2.6.32-3-686 and my own 2.6.33.

please tell me if, and which other piece(s) of information you might require
to solve this, I 'd be gratefull for a solution (I 'd like to stick to
Debian like I did since Guus gave me those install CD's some 11 years
ago on the Warande)

Example:
r...@hugin]/root/Wlan/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 essid asgard
r...@hugin]/root/Wlan/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 key XX

r...@hugin]/root/Wlaniwconfig
lono wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:asgard
  Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm
  Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
  Encryption key:------XX
  Power Management:off

pan0 no wireless extensions.

but when issueing:
/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:13:10:3F:73:AF
The value for Access Point remains Not Associated and the
essid disappears completely.

would be nice to have this fixed, please ask me if you need
additional information.

regards, Hans de Jonge

Bug#573636: diakonos fails to start

2010-03-16 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi,

thanks for your patch. However I think it's slightly wrong.
You are using dpatch without having dpatch as build-depend.
When you have dpatch as b-d, why not use /usr/share/dpatch/dpatch.make
and it's magic targets?
Using
build-stamp: patch-stamp
clean: unpatch
should be enough (you do not need to unclean before unpatching, because
you are not patching any makefiles or smth involved in the clean
process).

*However* I'd not use dpatch at all here.
Maintainer already has direct changes to files in his .diff.gz
(lib/diakonos.rb and lib/diakonos/help.rb) and I think forcing him to
some patch system he is not (yet) using is the wrong way *here* (don't
understand me wrong, I'm all for patch systems [even if I prefer quilt
over dpatch] but here we are not the maintainer and should adapt his
workflow).

Regards,
Evgeni

PS: if you want, i can upload the patch/NMU after you fixed the point(s)
above :)

Bug#573942: Bug 573942

2010-03-16 Thread Philipp Benner

The library in libtacacs+1-dev does not provide any functionality of
regexp.c. It is
merely used for tac_plus. So the manpage should be removed from that
package.

The same is true for docbook-to-man, so we should both remove that file.

Regards,
Philipp

Bug#569094: aatv: 569094: initial libv4l1 port attempt

2010-03-16 Thread Paul Wise
Hi Uwe,

I made an initial attempt at a patch (attached) to port aatv to libv4l1.
I tested with a webcam at the BSP, but I could not get it to return data
from the webcam. I suspect someone with knowledge of V4L2 should port
the app to the proper V4L2 APIs instead. Alternatively, since mplayer
has a V4L driver and can output colour on the console using libcaca,
aatv could simply be removed from the archive.

Package: netbase
Version: 4.39
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

From RFC 3493

This socket option restricts AF_INET6 sockets to IPv6 communications
only. As stated in section 3.7 Compatibility with IPv4 Nodes,
AF_INET6 sockets may be used for both IPv4 and IPv6 communications.

I don't think there is anything else to add to show that the
net.ipv6.bindv6only=1 is wrong since it makes debian non compliant.

I also remind that it is possible to fill bugreports to upstream authors
of uncompliant software.
Filling bugreports to authors of compliant software is not a good practice.

Have a nice day

Adrian-Ken, do you need help with this bug? It seems quite trivial
to fix by adding the proper -L option.

Note that this package is the last Ada package that has not yet
transitioned to gnat-4.4 in testing; this bug prevents removal
of gnat-4.3. Also, we are getting close to freezing point.

PS: if you want, i can upload the patch/NMU after you fixed the point(s)
 above :)

Thanks, but not really for now. I also think that it would be
definitely better for the bug to be fixed by the maintainer :-)

Regards,

Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

After choosing the chain load grub2 option in the old grub menu the grub2
screen
loads correctly. When I choose a kernel to load, the system locks up completely
and does not respond to Ctrl-Alt-Del. The messages loading kernel and
loading initrd ... appear and then in the upper right corner of the grub2
screen a horizontal line is drawn. Is there a way to make grub2 more verbose?

Bug#549047: NMU upload to fix this bug

2010-03-16 Thread Christian PERRIER
Danke Sehr, Rene, for the patch.

I used it in an NMU to fix this package. I also did a huge cleanup of
the packaging (probably the first time I bump debhelper compatibility
from 2 to 7!).

Patch attached.

Hi, just bumped the versioned binutils in build-depends to fix this problem.

The debdiff are attached. Is it OK for NMU?

I think it's wrong. libbfd doesn't have a stable ABI, so should be
statically linked.

Cheers,

Bull.

Running kernel 2.6.32.8 together with the above hostapd version worked
 just fine

That's why the submitted severity is bull.

but after I've updated the kernel from 2.6.32.8 to 2.6.33
(both from kernel.org) hostapd does not start any more.

That's a problem that could be fixed, but I aint looked into it myself.
Thanks for the extra info.

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#571027: Patch for this file conflict bug...

2010-03-16 Thread Christian PERRIER
tags 571027 patch
thanks

This bug will only appear on lenny-sid upgrades because the version in
lenny is 2.86.ds1-61, that has the offending manpage. It was removed
later on in sysv-rc package development. Beware the sysv-rc
maintainers disabled the inclusion of the manpage, but only
temporarily, so that problem might pop up again later non.

I think this can be fixed with a Breaks statement, that will force
sysv-rc to be updated prior to the update of manpages-fr-extra.

It doesn't for me either, though I have an extensive codebase I should
check before.

You can lower the severity of the bug meanwhile.

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/share/man/man3/regexp.3.gz

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package.

-Ralf.

Severity: important

The icon included in update-manager is CC BY-SA 2.0
and thus non-free. I don't set this bug as release
critical, because newer versions of the icon are
public domain (see tango-icon-theme package).

Bug#552899: (const void*) vs (const struct dirent**)

2010-03-16 Thread mario
I'm Mario Simonetti From Italy (Piombino,Li) , I'm a programmer in 'C'
and I know this language quite good.

I wrote many and many 1000's of rows of source in previously versions of
Linux, as FEDORA FC2, FC4, FC7 , Debian 4.05 , Ubuntu 9.04 , but
I never had this kind of problem.

the template: int (*)(const void*,const void*) works very well in all of
those distributions.

But when I try to compile the same source files with Ubuntu 9.10 , I
have always the problem.

It doesn't matter if you are compiling a device-driver , or a patch o
something else , the problem existes and it isn't still solved.

I think that the casting of all our variables to adjust the correct new
syntax is not a good idea because '*' and '**' means two different
things.

(const void*) is a simple pointer to something , but (const struct
dirent **) is a pointer of a pointer, so if yow only pass the arguments
to the scandir() function and yow don't do anything other , all is okay.

If your code does something before passing the arguments to scandir
it processes variables in tho different ways (Big Problem).
Yow just get a Segmentation-fault of course !

Yow must review enterely the portion of your code keeping in your mind
what yow want to do.

Goodbye at all of yow

Bug#574121: iptotal generates incorrect filenames for graph images

2010-03-16 Thread John Parejko
Package: iptotal
Version: 0.3.3-11
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

I installed 0.3.3-11 (powerpc) from sid because the default version in
lenny (0.3.3-7) was causing significant cpu usage while idle.
This is fixed in 0.3.3-11.

However, on the various iptotal cgi pages, the images are being
generated, but the img tags are not being correctly populated with
links to them. The problem is that the img tag is being written as:

/iptotal/images//var/lib/iptotal/images/eth_*.png

instead of the correct:

/iptotal/images/eth_*.png

I suspect that this problem came about somewhere during the data directory
changes from /var/www to /usr/lib/ to /var/lib.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the best way to fix this in the cgi.
The images do get generated, and I can view them by inserting my own
img links in the template.html document, but they don't show up on
the various cgi pages.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in developing a fix.

Thank you,
John

OK, requesting the removal for you, since it's blocking the migration

Bug#574142: merb: Contains non DFSG conform stuff

2010-03-16 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Package: merb
Version: 1.0.12+dfsg-2
Severity: serious

Hi maintainers!

It seems, that the Academic Free License, under which terms parts of your
package are licensed, is non free according to the DFSG.

See for example http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2004/10/msg00237.html
and http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2004/10/msg00240.html. Note, that
while the discussion was about an older version of that license, the
problematic parts seem not be changed in version 3.0.

Best regards,
  Alexander

Package: backup-manager
Version: 0.7.9-1
Severity: serious
Justification: user changes in /etc/ have to be preserved (10.7.3)

I just noticed that the cron-job for backup-manager has been moved
back to /etc/cron.daily from cron.weekly where I placed it. This
has to have happened since last weekly execution on Monday. I
assume it happenend during an update to backup-manager (I
use testing, with more or less daily updates). Today
I got a report from cron.daily:

From: Anacron r...@judiz.de

Subject: Anacron job 'cron.daily' on ossietzky

The regulars in #debian.de advised me to report this with severity
serious, so here it is...

Thank you for your work!

Bug#560072: FTBFS: java-gcj-compat-dev can't be installed

2010-03-16 Thread Niels Thykier
Hi

I noticed that you decided to use some sequence of shell commands to set
JAVA_HOME. I can recommend using /usr/lib/jvm/default-java instead
(and build-depending on default-jdk which you are already doing).
/usr/lib/jvm/default-java is a symlink to openjdk6 on all arch
supporting openjdk and (as I recall) gcj for the rest.

If you have any questioned about this or other java related issues, feel
free to contact the java team (debian-j...@l.d.o).

Thank you in advance,

2010-03-16 Thread Niels Thykier
Hi

from the log:
 STDERR: Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad

Perhaps the JVM dependency and the class file versions do not match up.
freemind depends on
 openjdk-6-jre | java2-runtime | sun-java5-jre | java2-runtime

But are you certain that freemind can be run with a java5 or even a
java2 ? If the build rules do not set a target version (-target argument
for javac/target attribute in ant build files), then the java compiler
will use its highest version (which will be 6 for default-jdk).

different buildds involved; obviously the buildd which built the initial
upload has a writeable home directory and the others don't).

Do you have an ETA for an upload including the patch? (not pushing, just
trying to work out where we're up to with the imagemagick transition).

Regards,

Adam

Bug#559893: monotone-server: hooks.lua.base is outdated

2010-03-16 Thread Ludovic Brenta
As of monotone 0.47 I do not see any file named hooks.lua.base either in
the upstream sources or in the Debian packaging scripts.

Is this an upstream bug?
Is it fixed in 0.47-1? If not, 0.47-1 which I am about to upload will
not migrate to testing.

I'm discussing with upstream to have sim renamed to lpssim and hope to
upload with a fix soon. Since the tools are integrated in some overall
user interface I cannot just rename binaries without that falling apart.

Kind regards,

The groovy package has provided /usr/bin/grape earlier and has already
transitioned to testing. That is why I suggest reassigning the bug to
 mcrl2.

While I don't particularly feel attached to the binary name, upstream
provides loads of documentation that tell people to run grape.
However, I will take it to thme to rename have it to grapemcrl2
or something. I'll keep you all posted.

Hi guys. Sorry about being AWL so much time. I'm deeply involved with

I can tell I'm unable to reproduce the bug in there, I see links in sid
for both archs, (i386 and amd64), and I'm noticing that there are in
there also in lucid. So I can't see this bug. If you're willing to take
me through the exact steps cause I can't see it.

Bug#574165: gsasl FTBFS on mips(el)

2010-03-16 Thread peter green

package: gsasl
severity: serious
x-debbugs-cc: debian-m...@lists.debian.org

Gsasl failed to build on the mips and mipsel buildds with the error
/usr/bin/ld: non-dynamic relocations refer to dynamic symbol
getdelim@@GLIBC_2.0. I can also reproduce the issue locally using
qemu-system-mips.

Unfortunatley the error message is pretty useless as it doesn't tell me
which of the items being linked contains the problem.

As well as being a serious bug in itself this issue is also blocking
migration of the fixes for two other rc bugs to testing.

Bug#573983: Upstream patch doesn't resolve things for me

2010-03-16 Thread Adam D. Barratt
Hi,

I've just built and installed a set of local imagemagick packages with
the suggested patch from upstream (adding Utopia as an alternative
font family) and I'm afraid I have to report that I still get the same
problem:

$ montage IMG_3058.jpg IMG_3059.jpg
montage: unable to read font `(null)' @ error/annotate.c/RenderFreetype/1047.

(the change in line number being purely the addition of the patch).

If there's any further information I can provide to help, please let me
know. I'm sure you'd like to get the imagemagick transition finished as
quickly as I would. :-)

Hi, just bumped the versioned binutils in build-depends to fix this problem.

The debdiff are attached. Is it OK for NMU?

I think it's wrong. libbfd doesn't have a stable ABI, so should be
 statically linked.

Julien,

Thanks for catching this, as I somehow missed Andrew's email.

Andrew,

Please note that this problem is also discussed in #537744, and in
#558412. The solution is non-trivial.
