Although, everything works for users registered on my server. Explanation Jabber/XMPP servers needs to be able to reach components directly. This involves that all component subdomains must be resolvable by the other servers. Solution You need to make sure that all the subdomains (conference.example.com, pubsub.example.com ...) are resolvable from the third-party servers on the Internet. To accomplish this, you can: Add a wildcard in your DNS configuration so that *.example.com always points to your server. Re: Duda Debian + Gnome3
Evince page navigation problem
Hi! When reading a document using Evince, I use the Space key to go forward (the direction of reading). I'm not using continuous view. In so doing, it jumps to the top after switching pages. This is correct of course. However, when I want to go backwards, I naturally want it to start at the bottom after switching pages. This is how it works in djview with the Space and Backspace keys. Anyone know if this is possible in Evince, without using continuous view? I'm using Debian Sid, evince-gtk 2.32.0-1, and djview4 4.8-1 Best regards Torquil Sørensen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? I have about 250 drives (both EARS and EADS) across a range of servers and situations (some in London data-centers, others in office-based servers - and these in the office have regularly seen temperatures of 45oC in the room recently after I had issues with the AC units on the roof). Plus, the data-center machines are reading/writing at least three to five megabytes per second as a base-line minimum for much of their life. My rate of loss is about a drive a month (maybe two or three drives if it's a bad month), but only around 8% a year. Even then, a drive with me will normally fail after either three weeks or three years. On the whole they're stable and have not caused me any great concern. I'm still monitoring this but if this is the cure to prevent such errors, are there any expected drawbacks for lowering MTU system-wide? Slightly lower overall performance when communicating with remote hosts. Almost zero difference on the LAN. The host is barely accesible from the LAN (just for admin tasks), it's mostly a 100% standalone and remote server which plays the role of a web server (very low traffic, it hosts a couple of dedicated sites) and e- mail services. If you want optimal performance, you should enable jumbo frames on all LAN hosts (9000 bytes) since you're using GbE, and install an edge router that handles jumbo frames. Then you need not worry about any of this. Just make sure you find out from your service provider what size frames they use. Then program the WAN interface on the router with that frame size (MTU). I prefer to be able to deliver all of the e-mails, performance can go to background. Anyway, I dunno if that would be possible. The switch where the server is attached to does not allow jumbo frames so I would have to completely diconnect the server from the local LAN and leave it as a purely remote server and then yes, I can enable jumbo frames for the gigabit card. But now that I know where the problem is and how can mitigate it, I doubt if that would be worth of it. Problems such as yours are always caused by MTU mismatches. In most cases the mismatch is between the customer's edge device and the service provider equipment. Good routers will handle this just fine as long as the WAN port MTU is programmed to match the service provider equipment. Yep, for what I've read, a badly configured appliance (firewall/IPS) can also give such results. Worth noting is that different network technologies use different frame sizes. For instance, ethernet uses a 1514 octet frame. Fiber channel uses 2112. FDDI uses 4500. SONET is 2430. You mentioned a FTTH gigabit router previously. Is this SP equipment or your independent equipment? As of today, it's ISP's device. FTTH was installed this summer (June- July) in the office and I'm still reluctant to make any change. The MTU mismatch most likely exists inside that box. If it was provided to you, then someone probably didn't program it correctly. It should have worked fine with different MTUs on both sides. Yep, I also thought so but I couldn't find the manual of the provided device, just a very brief flyer with specs. It's a Comtrend WAP-5813n and dunno where the MTU setting is on this router nor how/if I have to tweak it. Even more desirable would be the ability to use the terminal emulator Commo as my means of establishing contact between the respective systems. If you can install an ethernet card in your DOS machine, you can have full internet access from it, through the Linux box. The modem goes on your Linux box. Run ppp to connect to your ISP. The ethernet port on your Linux box connects via a crossover ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the DOS box. Alternatively, you can use straight cables to connect them both to an ethernet switch. The Linux machine runs IP masquerading, or NAT, to extend the IP connection to the ethernet. Let's assume you call the Linux ethernet interface 192.168.0.1, and your DOS box 192.168.0.5. echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_dynaddr iptables -t nat -A postrouting -o ppp0 -s 192.168.0.5 -j MASQUERADE And on your DOS box, you want to set up the Crynwr packet driver appropriate for your ethernet card -- see http://www.georgpotthast.de/sioux/packet.htm for packet drivers. Pressing that button displayed a form that you could fill out to narrow a search, e.g. subject, author, year, etc. In the last week advanced search displays a blank screen with just the word 'Google'. Can anyone successfully do an advanced search on Google groups for linux.debian.user? Or is this an improvement? To tell you the truth, I'm taking a hard look at osmo, too. A couple of months ago I was thinking of switching from icedove to claws-mail. I love claws-mail's mail functionality, but calendar support is virtually non-existent in it (just has assignment of events to others), and its contacts book is extremely limited. If I had known about osmo at the time I would probably have used it and claws-mail as a replacement for the icedove / iceowl combination. The only drawback for me with respect to osmo is that its ical import doesn't seem to result in editable tasks or events. I'd have to do a heck of a lot of data entry in order to switch all of my upcoming events from iceowl to editable form in osmo -- unless I'm missing something. I hope it goes well for you!
