Increible, no tengo palabras. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-spanish-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. ¹https://lwn.net/Articles/620891/ Saludos, -- Camaleón -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-spanish-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
Salvador García Z. El 20/11/2014 10:09, Santiago Vila sanv...@unex.es escribió: On Thu, Nov 20, 2014 at 04:18:49PM +, C. Fwd: [PSL-Brasil] Prêmio AREDE 2014 para DiasporaBR
-- Ednardo Lobo www.lobo.eti.br -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-portuguese-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Yes, that looks correct to me. If I am not permitted to read the floppy, the drive motor shouldn't twitch immediately after the qemu command. Therefore I conclude that permissions aren't blocking access. It has been a long time since I used a floppy drive, in fact, I just retired my old desktop tower this past Sunday which was the only machine left with a working floppy drive. I could fire it up provided I still have any floppies anywhere. I've been using qemu but only with image files on the hard disk to fix a development bug in a project I help maintain that had an error reported to occur in Raspbian. Qemu is certainly a handy tool. As mentioned originally, the machine will cold boot from the diskette. More detail from qemu would help but there is no -v option to increase verbosity. The man page has no mention of a log file. I'm curious if you can read the floppy directory contents using the 'mdir' command from the mtools package? If you can do that as peter, then that may point to a problem with qemu. Just a thought. Perhaps using dd to make a raw image of the floppy and having qemu boot from that may be an alternative. - Nate -- The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. Q: wheezy: how to increase X resolution?
I just installed wheezy on a new system, and no matter what I have tried, I am unable to get the attached monitor to display at 1920x1200. I tried to create an Xorg.conf file so I would have a measure of control over what's happening, but that fails with the messages at: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18494055/config.txt I see that ast is listed as an available video driver; so I don't understand why the Xorg.0.log file says it's unable to be loaded. The driver identifies itself at boot time as ASPEED 08.00.0; I have checked with the motherboard manufacturer's site, and this is the current version. The documentation explicitly says that wheezy 7.7 is supported. Any help much appreciated. I am pretty much at a brick wall at this point. Most current x86 systems use one of AMD, Intel or nVidia chips and Debian has drivers for all of them, but as far as I can tell not for your adapter. It might be prudent to give more details about where you obtained it from (e.g. the download page). I'm not exactly sure what you mean by video adapter. I am just trying to use the video provided by the motherboard; there is no separate adapter. The ASPEED 08.00.00 driver is the the one supplied by the manufacturer (ASUS). Whether the adapter is soldered on the motherboard, on-die with your CPU (as is common with recent Intel chips) or a separate card is irrelevant. It might also help to mention the exact model/revision/etc. of your motherboard. Problems with grub2/initramfs-tools in chroot
Over the last week I've repeatedly found my machine unbootable, in the sense I couldn't get to a working system without intervention. Sometimes I couldn't even get the grub2 menu. Things are OK now, but I'm trying to understand what went wrong so I don't do it again. I had multiple disks and was working on the first 2. Initially I worked on sdb and left sda blank. My setup involves various extras: software RAID, crypo (cryptsetup) and LVM, though not all system instances used all those. Disks were GPT (or blank); everything was wheezy amd64. I would install a system using debootstrap following Appendix D of the installation manual. I bind mounted /dev and /dev/pts, and usually /sys and /proc to the chroot before switching to it. I usually ran the grub setup from within the chroot. It's not clear to me exactly what is going on running grub-install from a chroot. Because of the bind mounts I assume it has access to the devices so that grub-install /dev/sdb actually installs to sdb. But the chroot simply has a file system without knowing how it was mounted. The chroot might not even have the packages to deal with its filesystem (e.g., a chroot run on an encrypted LVM volume on top of RAID need not have mdadm, cryptsetup, or lvm2 installed---not just in theory but in my practice). initramfs-tools tries to figure out what modules should be in the initrd, but it's not clear to me how it decides (consulting fstab, mdadm.conf and related files? install a module if the relevant package is installed? call the OS? consult /proc?). I think this led to some problems, e.g., the chroot was on a /dev/mdx, but the mdadm tools did not end up in the initrd. Eventually I created a system on sda and ran gub-install /dev/sda from inside the chroot. Not only did the system not boot off sda, when I told it to prefer booting off sdb I didn't get back what I had before; instead I got an older setup for sdb. I've had a 'similar' problem, in my case it was solved with:- grub-install /dev/$Whatever If the problem is GRUB, and you are actually booting from sdb (due to the BIOS settings making it the boot device. Note: double check device names (you can use the GRUB device name) with the mount command and use SMART to determine which device it the one set to boot from in the BIOS. Hope that helps. Compare output of lspci -k from the livecd with with your running Debian system. Also update your initramfs with update-initramfs -u. Thanks, I wasn't familiar with -t or -k options of lspci. Very good to know. I've relied on apt-get to update initrd files, so update-initramfs is useful, too. Never thought that udev could get the driver wrong. I will check for differences next time I boot into the other kernel. Regards, Joel -- Joel Roth -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
