Has anyone seen this? Openoffice 2.4.1 disappears after its splash screen

2008-07-13 Thread AJ Milne
... no errors in the console if I run it from there instead.

Particulars: I'm running lenny, x86_64 binaries, the 2.6.24 kernel, and KDE. I
tried installing the KDE integration package, uninstalling the whole thing,
reinstalling (twice), got the same symptoms. Running from the KDE launcher or
the console, I get the same thing. Running calc or writer, same thing. Splash
screen appears, progress bar zips to full, then nothing. Tried removing the
user settings after reinstall (~/.openoffice.org2), same thing.

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere; I searched, didn't see it.

Helpful information even if you *haven't* seen this: does OpenOffice log its
errors somewhere? I haven't been able to find them. The only logging in
/var/log/* appears to be from installs/uninstalls/reinstalls.

... and to clarify, when I say 'no errors', I mean it doesn't report any
errors. Just fails silently. But it still doesn't start. Splash screen, then
nothing.

You can have a look at ~/.xsession-errors, but I am not too optimistic
about this since you do not even get any error message when you start
the program directly from the command line.

It may help to use strace on the program like this:

 strace -f -o oo-strace.txt ooffice

This will log all system calls in the file oo-strace.txt. The strace
file will be too long to be posted here, but maybe you can upload it
somewhere so that we can have a look. If that is not possible then you
can post the just end of the file, the last 50 lines or something like
 that. (run tail -n50 oo-strace.txt)

modulo cmpci o alsa cmipci?

...PCI Plug and Play (PnP) bus interface, 32 bit PCI bus master...
MPU-401 Game/Midi port and legacy audio SB16 support
.Fully compatible with MPU-401 Midi UART and Sound Blaster Midi

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Device:
irq=10  intervalo entrada salida(io)= E800 - E8FF

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Joystick device :
intervalo entrada salida (io)= 0200 - 0200

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Legacy Device:
intervalo entrada salida= 0200 - 02FF
intervalo entrada salida= 0388 - 038F
intervalo entrada salida= 0330 - 0331
petición de interrupción (irq)= 9
acceso directo a memoria (DMA)=1
acceso directo a memoria (DMA) = 5

DOS Mode MPU-401 Emulator:
intervalo entrada salida = 0310 - 0311

hardware.. o me equivoco..?

He

# ISA PnP support
options isapnp isapnp_reserve_irq=9,10

# ALSA native device support
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-cmipci
options snd-card-cmipci snd_index=1 snd_id=CMI8338 snd_port=0xe800
snd_irq=10 snd_dac_frame_size=64 snd_adc_frame_size=64 snd_enable_midi=1
snd_enable_fm=1 snd_mpu_port=0x310 snd_fm_port=0x388

 # OSS/Free setup
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

Unable to create TCP socket
fatal error opening socket

make config
make dep
make clean
etc...

make menuconfig (notablemente más fácil ;-) )
make dep
make clean
make-kpkg clean
make-kpkg kernel_image
dpkg -i kernel-image*.deb

no adecuado?

alguién a sufrido algo similar?

Sonido

adelante

En Guin aparecen los siguientes datos:

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Device:
irq=10  intervalo entrada salida(io)= E800 - E8FF

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Joystick device :
intervalo entrada salida (io)= 0200 -0200

CMI8338/C3DX PCI Audio Legacy Device:
intervalo entrada salida= 0200 - 02FF
intervalo entrada salida= 0388 - 038F
intervalo entrada salida= 0330 - 0331
petición de interrupción (irq)= 9
acceso directo a memoria (DMA)=1
acceso directo a memoria (DMA) = 5

DOS Mode MPU-401 Emulator:
intervalo entrada salida = 0310 - 0311

Debian Potato y C-Media CMI8338 soundcard

supone 5, algun consejo o guia?

4gig VFAT Win32

what i wanna do is mount the linux native part to /home/ while keeping
all the current files in /home/ in tacked, and having all the user
privelages and stuff remain the same.. so that everything works
normal...
can anyone tell me the best way to do this?
i was thinking among the lines of:
tar -vcf home.tar /home/
rm -rf /home/
mkdir /home
mount /dev/hdb3 /home
tar -xvf home.tar

will that work?
then what files would i have to edit besides /etc/fstab? well plz let me
know remember i wanna keep all permissions and that in tact,

heres my problems:
after i installed it i pico /etc/lilo.conf added the line: append=192m
even though the ram test showed something like 196megs.. so i added that
rebooted (now i always have problems with my video card i gotta readjust
the wires every time i turn OFF the computer . not reboot) but this time
when i typed: startx everything went nuts and the screen got all weird..
then when i typed: shutdown -r 0.1 i got a segmentation fault..
IS IT THE RAM OR THE COMPUTER OR ME?.. now lets switch to windows95
shall we.. i go in and try to encode and mp3 cause i thought that would
be a pretty good stress test.. well during encoding the screen went
black then i got an error: error vfat.. about 20 other boxes popped up
and 1 even fucking said to reinstall windows!.. (shows
you what microsoft cares about).. anyway i reboot into windows i can get
in but same problems.. now i uninstall the ram and everything is happy
happy joy joy.. is it possible i installed the ram backwards?? or is
there anything else thats mest up? was 1 connector not touching.. i have
2x 32meg non pc100 and now this pc100 the reviews say it should work
fine..

plz anyone help!!

cd /usr/src/linux

xhost + localhost (note you must have X started to do this)
su root
cd /usr/src/linux
make xconfig

hope this helps,

All you may need is to set an environment variable. For sh and bash,
